Thanks for the ask ❤️ They aren’t all plushies, but here are the kids’ favourite toys:

Charles: Mr. Kutta from Mummy. Mummy bought Mr. Kutta for Charles for being such a brave boy! He lends him to Edwin when he thinks Edwin needs protection/bravery, because just like Charles, Mr. Kutta can and will protect his friends. Mr. Kutta can always be found hidden in Charles’ backpack.

Edwin: Miss Cosy Blanket (the third) from Aunt Cindy. Aunt Cindy is Edwin’s adoption worker, and she adores him and his dads! The previous Miss Cosy Blankets were her first attempts at crocheting, but she never stopped trying until she finished a perfect one for him. Edwin loves Miss Cosy so much he leaves her in his house when he goes to school, where she’s safe and clean.

Crystal: Eyeball Pillows from the Aunties. Crystal’s parents are always away, but her Aunties love and adore her, and they visit as much as they can. They buy her eye pillows every time to reassure her she’s not alone and that they’ll always be watching over her. They’re strewn all around her room and the downstairs theatre where she likes to watch movies and play with her friends.

Niko: Litty and Kingy from Mama and Baba. Mama and Baba tell Niko that Litty and Kingy chose her rather than the other way around. Niko likes to make up stories with her favourite dollies, telling her friends about how they like to enter people’s brains and explode them from the inside. Sometimes, Niko thinks they move on their own…

Thomas: Burger from Papu. Papu doesn’t have a lot of money, so they try to make Thomas as many toys as they can. Burger is a little plushy made of an old sock and cotton, and his eyes are buttons from old coats. He’s a bit wonky since he’s Papu’s first attempt at sewing, but Thomas thinks he’s the coolest, cutest, best boy ever! Just like Thomas!

Monty: Crow! from Mr. Mick. Monty’s first word in class (after being quiet for so long) is Crow! when he saw Mr. Mick’s keychain. Monty is obsessed with birds and with how they can fly away when they’re unhappy. Mr. Mick gave him his keychain after seeing just how much Monty loves crows. Monty tries to eat Crow! sometimes, but Miss Nurse keeps a very watchful eye on him.

Oh they’re gonna have father son trauma bonding sooooo hard. Bright side it’s father son bonding.(I say this as if the hidden angst gremlin in me isn’t patting its little feet in excitement). Btw good job on writing that scene. You did it in way where you could get the general idea of what splinter went through without diving into the technicalities.

loic would certainly volunteer as designated driver, but he indulges from time to time. he enjoys good wine. if there's any amount of drinking that can make ysme a total mess, it hasn't been discovered yet.

Knitting question: what project do you regret completing? Like, the one that should have frogged?

The fucking neon blanket.

I can't find a picture of it but I want you to imagine hubris given physical form. This blanket, this fucking blanket was knitted by holding SEVEN strands of yarn together on size 32 needles. I knit it from the inside out and only stopped when I was out of yarn. It was massive. Too massive. It worked as a weighted blanket but it was so hard to actually pick up and move around. I never weighed it but it was just. Too much blanket. Washing it was almost impossible. I had to drag it to a Laundromat to find a washer big enough only to discover that when it was wet IT WAS TOO HEAVY TO PICK UP i literally had to drag it over to the dryers this defeating the purpose of cleaning it

In the end I donated it to a thrift store because I couldn't picture dragging that stupid blanket around for the rest of my life.
