I always believed I would have this but it’s another thing to dream it, another to live it. I just turned forty and I’m staring into the eyes of my child while her mother sleeps near me. Serafina is laying against my propped legs as we sit together in bed, Jean’s back resting against my thigh to make sure I stay close while she rests. I don’t mind. I’m perfectly content staying still.

Serafina is quiet, her small hand squeezing my finger for dear life as she tries to bring it to her mouth. I can’t help but chuckle quietly. I grab her pacifier which she immediately takes, closing her eyes as she suckles.

The white noise machine is playing. The house is peaceful as is my heart. Jean will have moments of anxiety. It amplifies if Serafina is out of sight. I know this is because of the trauma of losing a child. I help ease her worries without coddling her fears. Doing so will only make her anxiety worse. I wonder when it will lessen and I wonder when professional help will be needed, if at all.

I want her to enjoy motherhood with Serafina without fear, to be able to truly let go and live in the beautiful moments we’re creating. I hope we can accomplish this soon.

I’ll be traveling for work again in a month. I haven’t left either of them since Serafina was born and I worry if Jean will be truly okay alone without my help. I pray that everything will be okay because it will be. Right?

Jean stirred in the comforts of their king-sized bed, eyes still closed and heavy with sleep.

It was the morning after her picnic date with her husband and daughter, and Jean had not slept soundly all night. But, just like every morning, she needn't open her eyes to know that another perfect day in paradise awaited her.

The warmth of the morning sun was streaming through their window, its rays pleasantly light on her skin. Their plush duvet, wrapped around her bare body, kept her snug and cosy. And if she were to keep really quiet, she could hear the distant waves crashing against the pebbly beach in the docks below. It was like waking up in a dream...

But even all that was nothing, nothing compared to waking up to her husband's perfect touch.

A smile graced her lips at the very thought.

In need of the warmth only Adrian could deliver, Jean reached for his hand, only to be struck by something odd: her waist was free of his usual strong embrace.

"Baby?" she murmured, half asleep.

Pushing herself up to sit against their headboard, Jean rubbed the sleep off her eyes in an attempt to clear this morning's confusion. But one look at the empty spot beside her was confirmation enough: Adrian was not there.

He must be with their daughter, she assured herself in an effort to stay calm. But even so, she had to check, just to see.

Throwing the duvet over, Jean got out of bed and reached for her silk robe. Wrapping it securely around her, she padded her way down the hall from the master bedroom, towards the nursery where she was sure she'd find her family.

But she didn't even need to step inside to know it was empty.

They must be having breakfast, she thought, as she made her way down the grand staircase. However, with each step downward, she grew more and more uneasy.

Jean's heart sank like iron when she found their kitchen as desolate as it was pristine. There was no sign of her husband or their daughter, or even the most minute indication that either of them had been there at all that morning.

Like a spark, every bit of calm she'd been trying to harbour was gone and she found herself frozen in panic. Despite not being able to move, her head raced with an onslaught of ideas, places, people and situations they could be in. With her heartbeat challenging to beat her mind's panicked pace, her eyes darted for her phone.

Shit! It was upstairs.

Tightening her robe, Jean ran as fast as she could back to their master bedroom, taking two steps at a time to get there. Once she had her phone in hand, she immediately dialled Adrian's number before once again scouring every room on the second floor.

No answer.

Jean tried again as she made her way down the stairs. Mid-step, she stopped. The familiar tone was ringing from his study.

"Adrian???" Jean called out as she rushed in that direction. "Baby, are you there??? Do you have Serafina???"

Again, there was no answer. Instead, she was met by the lone device ringing continuously atop his mahogany desk. But no sign of him or their daughter.

Standing in the middle of his study, Jean tried everything, and everyone. She could barely remember how many people she'd called by the time the room had started spinning.

"I don't want to lose you..." Her husband had said the night before when he finally expressed how he'd been feeling as of late. "I don't want to lose you... to you... But if you keep going like this, you're going to lose yourself to your anxiety, your paranoia, your fears to the point where I won't matter, and you won't hear me..."

The pain in his voice echoed louder now than it had the previous night when he'd spoken those words, the kind of pain that threatened to knock her off balance as the room spun faster and faster and faster...

"You wouldn't even notice if I was gone. That's how far gone you'd be..."

"I'm sorry!" Jean cried out to a ghost of a memory. "Baby, please... I'm so sorry!!! I'm here now, I'll do better! I promise! I promise, I'll do better..."

But her pleas were of no use. Her surroundings whizzed by her like an unending storm, blurring her vision, catching her breath until finally, all four walls had dissolved into one dizzying tornado plunging Jean right into unconsciousness.

"Jean???" Dazed and confused, Jean felt someone pick her up. "Jean. Jean!" A familiar warmth immediately encircled her frail frame, pulling her close. "Baby, wake up...."

"Adrian...?"

"Yes, baby, it's me... " Four words. Four simple words that breathed life back into her lungs. "Are you okay?" he asked, his deep-set voice laced with worry. "I was making us breakfast when I heard you scream. So, I took Sera and ran up here."

Sure enough, in his other arm, snug as ever, was their darling daughter. Reaching for her mother, the little babe wrapped her tiny fingers around Jean's thumb, cooing happily.

"I think you were having a nightmare," Adrian chimed in quietly, looking at his wife with great concern.

A nightmare. Was that all that was? It felt so incredibly real.

Silent, Jean conceded with a nod. Unable to meet his gaze quite yet, shame cursed through her body, rendering her too embarrassed to speak — of what it was she'd been dreaming about, screaming about, much less have the courage to divulge what it was that had been haunting her all night.

"It's going to be all right," Adrian reassured his wife like he'd always do, right to the gentlest kiss on her forehead. Pulling his girls closer to his sturdy chest, Adrian promised, "We're right here, baby, okay?"

It was those words that encouraged Jean to finally meet her husband's gaze.

Blinking back her tears, she pondered how could she be so lucky that this was her actual reality. From the day she met Adrian, up until now, she never truly believed she deserved him, and yet he shows up every single time she needed him. It was high time she returned the favour; to show him how much he means to her, how grateful she was for everything he does, and that she wouldn't just notice if he was gone, she'd die.

Determined to never let her nightmare come to light, Jean spoke at long last.

"I am, too," she murmured, her voice soft and sincere. Reaching out to delicately glide her fingertips across his cheek, she placed a tender kiss on his lips. "I'm right here, too, my darling..." she vowed with all her heart. "For whatever you need, whatever you both need, I'll be here, too."

Adrian swallowed hard, feeling as though a lump were actually stuck in his throat at the sound of her apology, followed by her hopeful words. He didn't know if he had the strength in him anymore to smile her way. Those smiles were lost on her, and he wondered if he shouldn't just start anew. Try to get her to fall in love with him once again. He wasn't even sure that she could or would fall in love with him a second time. There was a good chance she wasn't completely the same person that she was when they'd met, or before the accident. This person before him might not look for what he had to offer.

"That's what they said," Adrian replied in agreement, accompanied by a small nod. His eyes closed as memories continued to swirl playing back like a film. "But, they said there was still a chance..." He didn't need to finish his statement. The unspoken 'that you might never regain that part of your memory' hung in the air between them.

"You don't have to apologize. This isn't your fault. None of this was your fault." If he could find the person who had caused this accident, he would lay out his frustrations until they understood the pain they'd caused him.

10/01/25 - I've been writing a LOT of living weapon OC whump/angst recently... so it could be fun to do a bit of comedy with Adrian, either during or post DA2. Or maybe some post DA2 fluff with Autumn (especially as I have been plotting out Anders and Autumns kids recently). Been thinking about their oldest son a lot as I've made him my new rook for my second play of veilguard (yes I have messed with the timeline to make this work).

I am not really a comedy or fluff writer but in the mood to experiment. Handers, Fenhawke, or Fenders romanace prompts also acceptable (but as usual don't expect smut) there is a chance I might just use tonight to work though a fenders discord bingo card I have, but extra prompts to give more options incase my brain decides to be awkward are always appreciated.

Specific dynamics and such that's currently in my head and long fic WIPs I am working on:

I am currently working on a WIP where Adrian gets trapped in the fade after going to aid the inquision and Fenris, Isabella and Merrill go to rescue him.

Currently world building for a post game Fenders in Tevinter canon divergence thing. This will take place in the same universe as my Campfire Snippets and the general idea is that after eventually getting together Anders and Fenris break up after the chantry explosion and don't see or here from each other until years later when they accidentally meet again (somewhere around the time of the end of Dark Fortress but with some slight changes) in a small town on the southern boarder of Tevinter.

01. The character everyone gets wrong

It depends. My first thought was Hunter Sylvester. But I do see a lot of takes I agree with. I definitely wouldn't say everyone gets him wrong. I guess it's closer to maybe being about 50/50? But he's the character I've seen people get the most wrong I think. To the point where I wonder what fucking movie they watched cause it's not Metal Lords 2022 I know that much. The "he wouldn't say that" is strong.

The other answer would be Riley Finn (btvs) I guess. Because he is WIDELY hated by the fandom and there are just some scenes that I find really endearing. He has shitty moments, sure. He does. I'm not blind to those, nor do I excuse them. (Ultimatums are never ok!) But it feels like most of the fandom hates EVERYTHING about him and there is just an endearing quality to him for me. It's weird because my favorite Buffy character is Spike and it's not like Riley even makes it into my top 10. I don't love him as a character but I just...kinda like him?? Which is already in pretty stark contrast to most of the fandom I feel lol There is just something quite sweet about that goody two shoes soldier boy who's stressing out because everything he's ever been told is true and correct is crumbling around him. It's particularly the scene where he's helping Xander move that really does it for me I think. (I know you've been watching through Buffy for the first time and I don't think you've gotten to it yet so I'm trying not to be too spoilery) But yeah, I don't even have that strong of a defense of him at all. Again, I just…kinda like him. (disclaimer it's been a WHILE since my last watch-through, do not come for me)

08. Common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

Eddie being a top/Dom. I have literally nothing to back that opinion up other than I prefer Bottom!Eddie + Top!Steve. I know I'm kinda the one that's wrong on this one but...I like what I like. And I shall be delusional about it lol

This one's not super common but tiny fandom so eh I don't see where people remotely get the idea that Hunter is into Clay. Nor vice versa to be honest. I don't think they're particularly on each other's radar one way or another. At most I feel like Clay would be like "he's kind of a dick...hope he's okay tho" (like after the party particularly) And I feel like Hunter forgets Clay exists when he's not actively standing in front of him.

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

I must preface this by saying I have NO ISSUE what so ever with polyamory. It's all good, there should be more rep and the societal bullshit stigma needs to go. That being said... I just don't like poly skullflower, personally. It's not for me. I don't see it. I don't get it.

Also x reader anything I just can't and I don't get why people like it but to each their own.

17. there should be more of this type of fic/art

Basically any fanart of Metal Lords, preferably Hunter (obviously). But I'll take pretty much anything T-T I would love to have more Metal Lords fics to read too but I'm extremely picky about Hunter's characterization so I don't even know what to say I want more of, we'd be here all day lol

22. Your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores

I guess I truly don't think I've seen anybody else acknowledge that Kevin is a Fallout fan. Not necessarily my "favorite part of canon" or anything but I genuinely don't think I've seen anybody talk about it. And I do like it, I think it's really fun. (I was going to say Hunter's anxiety initially but I don't know if that is technically canon?? Or if the jacket thing (just the idea of it being one jacket not the whole scenario lol) can be counted as canon. Or even if Hunter being in love with Kevin can be considered canon. It's how Adrian played Hunter but it wasn't in the script. I would consider that canon but it's not widely ignored so...Fallout.)

Kobrakai are a desert rock/ heavy grunge band from the Gold Coast. Initially formed as a recording project by founding members Kobra Fuzz (aka Phil Skuthorpe: bass/vocals) and Cloudy (aka Neil McLeod: vocals/guitar), the duo released their debut album 'Snuffbox' in 2014. There has a been a changing of the guard on drums with the addition of Loco (aka Adrian Sechtig) in 2018. Kobrakai's 2015 sophomore release 'Zodiac' has met with acclaim and has led to the band becoming a staple of the Gold Coast rock scene, impressing crowds with their tight live show and fat & fuzzy sound. A debut film clip to the track 'Spaceage' was released in 2017, and the band spent the remainder of the year gigging in the northern NSW, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast regions. An EP ‘Parallax’ was also recorded and released, having been recorded at Byron Bay’s SAE studios with final mixing and mastering taking place at D4 Recording Studio in Beaudesert. Notes:

We had a fine large crowd but many did not post and I don't have everyone's names. All I know for sure is that Sammy D and Robert weren't here and that's why everything ran so orderly and smooth and quiet.

Faith (KID) accidentally deadlifted Shannon's 85 lb bar so fast and with such perfect form that we let her continue that for the entire EMOM, and then she rang the PR bell. FYI, that is 7 lbs more than the KID weighs, and 30 lbs more than we have ever allowed her to try in the past.

Miss Sugar (Goodrich) took me to the Richland CC where we followed Warren (Tripp on the Bag) thru 8 holes of the Members Championship. WG Birdied 4 out of the last 5 holes and came close to an Eagle. He will probable play with the last grouping tomorrow. After-which WG treated me to lunch in the Men's only Grill where WG seems to have more than 30 best buddies. One of them asked me if I knew Jeff King. I said NO. In the Gentlemen's Lavatory on a shelf behind the 6 sinks there were over 35 bottles of colognes & aftershave lotions lined up. That seems excessive.

I'm not really certain what Adrian Bozman's job is currently at CrossFit LLC, but he was here today. He has been on the Training Seminar staff forever, has been Head Judge at the CF Games for years, and maybe is the Director of Programming. Adrian has worked for CF for over 15 years, mostly in California, and recently moved to Middle TN. He proudly owns 30 acres in Pegram where he and Kim are putting down roots. Yes, he got a LHCF T-shirt.
