The Olympia Project is a platform for unrepresented contemporary artists focusing on socially-engaged practices. We met each other on spring during the Conversation between Julie Mehretu and Ugochukwu-Smooth C. Nzewi celebrating @iscp_nyc 25th Anniversary. You can’t imagine my joy to see her again! _ On view at this moment, artworks of Nate Burbeck. What caught her, it is the way he paints lights, sky colors, and then how he paints suburban landscapes as lonely scenes. - Nate Burbeck produces around 12 paintings each year. _ There is also a mysterious drawing that her grand-mother gave her without remembering from whom it has been drawn. Quite exciting! It may be a mistress piece! Above all, it is really beautiful.

3 Questions with Nate Burbeck @nateburbeck ︎ 1. What can you tell us about this image? ︎ I created this painting from a photo-scouting research trip I took in the Dallas, Texas area in 2017. I remember on location being really struck by all of the different elements coming together especially near sunset: how the light struck the edges of the leaves and rippled across the creek, graffiti reflecting in the water below towering overpasses. For that brief moment it felt like a sort of hidden cathedral, somewhere I'd probably have enjoyed stumbling upon when I was a teenager. ︎ 2.… 3 Questions with Nate Burbeck nateburbeck ︎ 1. What is a recent epiphany you've had? ︎ I've been in a little bit of a creative rut recently and am being reminded that ideas can take time to flesh out. Creativity isn't always something that springs on a constant basis and it's fine to give yourself the time you need to find it again. ︎ 3. Who is inspiring you on Instagram right now? ︎ I love the work of jackgarland. We've never met in person but have a long running art-crush through Tumblr and now Instagram. Also amybennettstudio recently had a fantastic solo show at Miles McEnery Gallery in New York.
