Dia dhuit! I’m Irish and I live in New Zealand, my parents don’t speak irish (only a few phrases) and I’m from Leinster. I was wondering if you know what dialect Duolingouses for irish bc I’ve been using it a bit but I don’t want to learn the Connaught dialect bc my Granny doesn’t speak that. Thanks!

Dia is Muire duit! That’s very cool! I’m happy that you’re interested in your heritage and that you’re trying to learn the language of your ancestors! That is one very admirable thing to do. I am afraid that I am going to disappoint you, because from what I know and what I’ve heard, most of the recordings on Duolingo are actually in Connaught dialect. I don’t know why, the standard is influenced by all of the dialects so none should really prevail, but I guess that many of the people who write textbooks etc. are from Galway and surroundings since that’s like a hub for teaching Irish. Honestly, don’t know, if anybody does, let me know!  Leinster doesn’t really have its own dialect, however, I mean it as in ‘established, kind of standardized dialect in an established Gaeltacht’, so you’ll still have to use one of the dialects if you want to learn Irish. I think Leinster tends to gravitate towards Munster pronunciation with a little bit of Connaught (correct me if I’m wrong, i’m only speaking from experience).  Whenever you wanna hear a word that you doubt because of Duolingo’s pronunciation, both focloir.ie and teanglann.ie have all their pronunciations up with audio! They only offer Ulster, Connacht and Munster, however.  Hope I helped a bit!

Hi there! I tend to use the power of the element of fire for strength spells, so - and it might be a little cheesy - I’d buy, create, or infuse a candle to be scented with the powers of fire. Consult your own notes on correspondences (or check out a reliable list online) to find scents and herbs with the properties of fire and the planetary correspondences of the Sun (normally I’d recommend Mars for strength, but for happiness and harmonious home energy strength, the Sun’s better here), and hunt down a scented candle with those ingredients and color(s). When you receive the candle, take the lid off and hold it in your hands, and charge it by breathing in the color and visualizing it filling the room, feeling yourself grow in strength, bringing light to everyone around, and all those good vibes. When you’re done charging it, seal it with the lid. Only use it when you need to tap into that strength magic, but use it as often as you please.

My best friend does the weirdest shit I love her so much. She got her face stuck in a water fountain at school once on her first day of high school (I wasn’t there) and she’s so adorable when she talks and laughs about it. Also she loves bananas and will eat them with anything. We had to make our own lunch once at her place and so we had canned pumpkin soup and she dipped her banana in it and loved it? We do these silent conversations bc we can tell what the other is thinking 95% of the time!

This is honestly very cute and makes me remember all the stupid shit me and my hs friends did, but also banana and pumpkin soup.... then again who am I to judge I can eat a spicy omelette with strawberry jam spread ontop and toast sdhdjdnol
