every so often (especially in october) i remember the cricket crew halloween stream and i stop in my tracks in shock and horror. i really do not like talking about ccs as their irl selves in a critical sense (when they’re obviously not in their Youtuber Voice Mode and something is visibly A Bit Off) but yall what the FUCK was that about. literally daisy jones and the six last concert before the band split up levels of what the fuck. the 1997 silver springs performance of the dsmp mcyt fandom. lore so layered it could be considered a complex multicellular organism. im so fucking genuine and serious in my real human life i will actually genuinely stop doing tasks to think about the cricket crew halloween stream. was it all a bit? was none of it a bit? which parts were bits? whose idea was it? what did they all expect to happen? what the fuck was up with tommy and the mud shit? why did the group never speak again??? and like i don’t even think this is a parasocial thing i don’t fuck w half of the ccs on that stream but as someone who is confounded by human connection and any large group gathering i desperately need need to dissect that entire situation. we could all be cricket crewed one day. i must to be ready

so. came up with an interesting Fnaf au that i'm calling "Different Path."

long story short, it's based off a simple premise. with a few basic rules for myself added in :]

premise: everything added to the lore post-Fnaf 4? get rid of it and start from scratch. no Afton and Emily families, no weird sci-fi shit i have to work around, and i get as much creative liberty with what i want to keep/change as i want.

now for rules:

reuse names as little as possible, not counting security guards from 1-4 (there will be one main exception to this 😉).

if the books are still being included, then their plots are getting changed heavily. since The Silver Eyes technically came out between 4 and 5/SL, i decided that i would keep general premise of the first book (main character lost a sibling when they were younger and it haunts them, goes back to Freddy's with some childhood friends after several years, Murderer Is There In Plain Sight), but that i'd do whatever the fuck i wanted with the plot from there. due to a rule i'm about to get into, however, there is going to be nothing along the lines of Charliebot going on :/

use as little sci-fi as possible. if any sci-fi must be added, then it must be a small thing/something that would make sense in a horror story about haunted animatronics (see: Whatever The Fuck The Security System In The Toys Was, the fact that animatronics can move, the fact they could move during the day).

The Timeline Is My Oyster; go crazy, go insane with it.

games past 4 still exist, but their premise/plot will be changed heavily.

14. What’s your favourite c!Dream line of dialogue?

Suddenly I don't remember a single c!Dream line of dialogue- uHH probably when he's taunting c!Tommy right after the prison escape. ICONIC. people who hadn't stream hopped were completely caught off guard by a fully decked out c!Dream popping up out of nowhere. Also props to cc!Dream for his insane positioning and timing like DAMN.

Also whenever he's begging, whining, or pleading...! especially when it involves c!Sam. The scene after he hides beneath the prison floor and c!Sam loses his mind and he manages to convince c!Sam to not tell c!Quackity is Insane.

17. What are some of your favourite c!Dream fics?

The fics on this list aren't going to be... recent/current? I haven't read dream smp stuff (that isn't @sunshine-in-a-bottle's writing) in a Good While. So for example @simplepotatofarmer's rabbit run isn't on it because I just haven't read it yet! (Even though I've only heard good things and it's been on my to read list for forever...)

25. If c!Dream had to join an existing/former DSMP country or faction, which one would you choose for him?

Either the Syndicate or the Eggpire. Opposite vibes, I know, but both have tons of potential for him individually, and for great interactions with the members.

Syndicate AUs are pretty popular and always a banger, but c!Drunz together during the height of the Eggpire? They would've been unstoppable (and full of trauma <333).

👑-Eva was mostly raised by her Nanny, her Aunt Olivia 'Livia' De Sousa(her mom's older sister) and her maternal grandmother because her mom, Isabel, had a combination of postpartum depression and the whole being expected to provide her own successor even if she has never wanted to have more than one kid. Eva is much closer to her aunt and her aunt acts more like a mother to her than her own mother did for as long as Eva has remembered.

🏆-Eva's best friend is actually her ex girlfriend, Antonia Medina, who then broke up with her and married Eva's cousin. Eva is particularly close to Linda and Lizzie because the three of them are seen as outsiders by Small Heath, Eva for being foreign and of mixed race(her mother was half indigenous) and Tommy’s wife, Linda for being religious and in a strangely liberal religion(the quakers were pretty liberal in the 1920s) and Lizzie having been a sex worker out of necessity. Eva is also good friends with Rose Jesus, Jeremiah's wife since the lore i gave her in my fics is that she is afro latina(from the Dominican Republic) and Polly, who sees a lot of herself in her.

in National Anthem, she befriends the who's who of Boston Society before moving up to befriending ever top us official's wife. she has friends, but because she is close to her family who is in the us spends more time with them.

🍑- in the og, her most famous fling was the son of the President who tried to kill her because she pretty much seduced him to spy on his dad (didn't end well, he died and in some aus committed suicide because of her), in National Anthem its Actress Gloria Swanson whom she and Jack had a fling with for about a year before her career flopped and Eva concieved her fifth child.

💢- Grace, in every lifetime and every au they will hate each other on sight. Eva finds Grace too phony, uncaring and just flat out boring who hides her prejudices very well and only makes exceptions to those she views worthy of her consideration (Tommy and only him). There is a possibility that Eva was Anne Boleyn and Grace was Jane Seymour in a past life due to me refencing Annabelle Wallis played Jane in the Tudors.

i’m very weird about giving these guys warrior cat names, bc their names are such an important part of who they are, but i have a few ideas (im also open to others’ ideas if they have any and would appreciate immensely for someone to build on what i have so far)

tommy: tommy is too special of a name, in drafts of my lore for this au he’s a former kittypet so i might have it be a daisy situation where he keeps his kittypet name, and is just Tommy.

techno: technoblade is ALMOST a warrior cat name by itself but uses words feral cats wouldn’t know unfortunately. i haven’t come up with anything specific, but he’d definitely have “fang” as a suffix, it’d make him sound like a cartoon supervillain, which is the same vibe the name “technoblade” has.

philza: crowfall. full stop.

tubbo: bee, buzz, or honey prefix. not sure about a suffix but the prefixes are all very silly and soft words, you could have something tough and sharp as a suffix to offset it. alternatively, make him "honeybee" which sounds like an affectionate nickname and is hilarious in contrast to his personality

skeppy: i’ve come up with some lore where rather than having a diamond motif, he has a moon motif. so moon as a prefix or suffix. however he’s anything but graceful so the second half of his name should be something silly or cute that fits his personality. moonskip?

bbh: idk but i like “shade” as one half. “sunshade” to parallel skeppy’s moon motif?

sapnap: this guy has so much potential for fire-themed names i can’t decide on a specific one

Flowers and their symbolism have fascinated me for many years now, especially as the meaning and use can alter depending on the culture or history.

In this series of short stories, you will learn more about the symbolism of Minecraft flowers and how a few of my chosen dsmp-characters interact with, through, and because of them.

The stories will not be connected and can be read without the foreknowledge of those I posted as well! They will be a mixture of my complete fantasy as well as some stories that are related to the dream-smp canon lore.

It's interesting how like,,, mythical/mystical? creatures in the ac universe, as far as we know, are rare to come by. Nook and the twins are the only tanuki, and Redd is the only kitsune for example.

Now, there might be a fair population of them around living life same as other animals but we just don't see them.

But what if instead mythical creatures in the ac universe are regarded with suspicion and stigma and treated like second-class-citizens? And that's part of the reason why Tom Nook had it so rough growing up?

We don't really see mythical species because they're living out of slums and struggling for work as other animals think they're scary or strange.

Cue the only other business partner he could find was another yokai-- Redd. And that's why they became friends, having shared a mutual experience with prejudice. It's implied Nook has a past with Sable as well, and they grew up in the same town together. It's then revealed her parents died when Mabel was still very young.

Was it from overworking or a work related accident trying to keep their three daughters taken care of? If so, it's a tragedy to see Sable copy this pattern of working tirelessly at her machine, and... not much else. Even ignoring customers to work as her social life suffers.

Perhaps poor, working class animals and mythical animals are kinda put into the same boat when it comes to classism and so, are more likely to be empathetic of eachother. But Tom Nook leaves for the city anyway.

Was it more openly discriminatory there?

If this is any indication to think so.

That's why Nook takes in Timmy and Tommy. Because without him they,, don't really have a fighting chance out there. It's rough for mystical creatures. He couldn't leave them there in good conscience. Redd can't seem to stick to a legitimate gig and is constantly poor. Himself, broken by the harsh realities of city life.

And what happened to Timmy and Tommy's parents???

The world of Animal Crossing is supposed to be this peaceful utopia land where bad things don't really happen-- or is that only what we're supposed to see? It's odd that both of them are out of the picture and that no other living relative could take them in?

Did they mayhaps leave young Timmy and Tommy someplace they knew the successful Mr. Nook might find them in hopes that they'd be adopted for a chance at a better life? Is this why, despite having no blood ties to him, they're referred to as his "nephews"?

For Tom Nook hasn't forgotten his roots. He still feels a kinship to other tanuki and knows their struggle. He still speaks the old language and respects his ancestors.

He's promised himself to look after these children-- not as their parent, but for the misfortunate parents who had to give them up. He doesn't see himself as having taken their place, as it's likely they're still alive somewhere and could someday be reunited.

Strangely coincidental is that only Tom Nook, the Able sisters, and Redd are known to have had "rough childhoods" compared to all the other animals we see breezing through life, able to afford cushy housing who are financially stable enough to relocate at the drop of a hat with the biggest worries on their plates being "do I wanna do (leisurely activity) or other (leisurely activity) today?"

Joan, the old turnip seller before Daisy Mae, talks about Redd like this:

And yeah, we all know Redd in particular is "untrustworthy," but... why she just start being racist against all foxes in general ajsjs.

(Which, mind you, he's a kitsune in the Japanese.) So she's really saying "don't trust those damned kitsune."

And look at this:

"Wears a raccoon suit." Which sounds like a roundabout way of saying "he's not really one of us, but just looks like it" since tanuki appear like regular raccoons.

The wiki interprets it as "oh haha they think he's a human man in a raccoon suit that's funny" but like,,, why would they think that. What behaviour, displayed by Nook specifically, would be "human-like" when they all act like humans? They'd all be accusing eachother of being humans in animal suits. So that doesn't make much sense.

Maybe that's why Isabelle and himself are his only employees. Because most other animals just aren't that willing to work so closely with a tanuki. He relies on her, not out of choice, but obligation as there's so few options. That would make her a pretty good ally™ in this case.

I adore their dynamic! Since in folklore, dogs are loathed enemies of tanuki and they kinda flipped that on its head in a nice way.

Speaking of Isabelle, her and her brother, Digby are the only different dog breeds we see-- aside from the mysterious K.K Slider, (a Jack Russel) and the only animal with hands. Maybe they're the only few in the world but are able to get by blending in as others obliviously believe they're regular dogs with weird ears or something.

Shih tzu have mythos attached to them as well in which they're able to turn into giant tigers when threatened sjdjs, so maybe Isabelle receives some of that flack and fear, too?

In fact, villagers describe her as going "Isabellistic," framing her irrationally when they "break a window," something that could reasonably incur anger.

Does it imply villagers can be callous and rude because they have no sense of consequence from living such privileged lives?

I hate reading so into the lore of such a happy, soft game but ajsjs I also love seeking the depth and angst™

in the aimsey tubbo lore aimsey says something like "have you never been attached to anything?" and ive been thinking. tubbo seemed confused about how attacked aimsey was to the daisy. just like he didnt understand how important the dics where to to tommy. he just deosnt have a conetion to items that he can replace.

and maby the metion is difrent. it not the fact that aimsey was living in it. it was the fact that tubbo realiased he wasnt.

Centaura cornflower - hope (he's an optimistic person.)

Sunflower - Love (but platonic. I can't explain it. But sunflowers give me heavy platonic love vibes.)

Sword lily - remembrance (do... Do I need to explain this one?)

Daisies - new beginnings (he's a kid on the server and he did start an entire arc with tommy's exile. Not to mention the solo lore he started.)

Gladiolus - strength (backbone of a chocolate eclair. But gives me strong vibes somehow.)

Cherry blossoms - renewal (gonna be honest. Didn't know the meaning before now. Just though they looked pretty. But he did create some redemptions in characters.)
