only nearly 50% of the way through this book and we’re already on day four. and the description that ‘Hot Sauce draws her gun’ on this day is very ominous

‘That fucking shuttle’ Palamedes i am not as smart as you, i am both very concerned and totally clueless about what Palamedes realised about the shuttle. i guess my main theories are Pyrrha has either been taken/went willingly for some unknown reason to the Emperor’s shuttle, or she’s been taken into BoE custody for some reason??

from We Suffer’s perspective i guess it makes sense that she wants Nona to be Harrow, because despite their overall perspective on necromancy, having a Lyctor who could actually help them fight against the Houses could be incredibly helpful for BoE. at least i hope its that because Harrow did help kill an awful lot of planets in the last book, and i imagine some of BoE might want revenge

ohhhhmfg Pal and Cam’s situation is so tragic. Palamedes has technically survived but from his perspective he’s doing exactly what he rejected so firmly in GtN, killing her. this is just cruel 

and for all my theorising about Nona i didn’t consider what Pal suggests here, that Nona’s some kind of full soul merger of Harrow and Gideon. for starters i think its unlikely, given Nona has her similarities but is very different in many unique ways to both of them. and on a more personal level i just hope thats not the case because i like my character’s souls unmerged please and thank you

i wonder if Nona’s going to be able to do something about the RB eventually, given she seems to be able to understand it. also describing it as ‘low[ing] sadly, like a cow’ feels like a very pointed comparison given John apparently killed a whole bunch of cows a couple chapters ago. i mean i have no clue what the fuck it could mean or why but it feels significant 

i’m still very intrigued as to whose side the Angel is on. based on her story here she’s clearly not associated with the Houses, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s with BoE either. she’s kind to Nona and a good teacher to the kids seemingly but i still think she’s suspicious and don’t fully trust her 

the absolute irony of John’s motivations apparently being to save the Earth and everyone from climate change, only to years later be killing planets and using them for mining 

‘An interesting group, your family’ ohhh shit, first Hot Sauce and now the Angel seem to be taking note of the strangeness of Nona’s situation. and i’m curious whats up with Hot Sauce and the Angel’s relationship, what with her having already told Hot Sauce the survival advice she gives the rest, and Hot Sauce being so determined to look out for her. i wonder if Hot Sauce has confided in the Angel about Nona’s cut not healing, and thats why they seem suspicious of Nona’s family here

i really thought about winning five races being ferrari goal, it can be true along with Charles actually being in the championship fight so alls well. of course there are many unknowns the big one being how other teams perform and how Max performs (which i hope is going to be as well as his last three years ^_^) but still.

Ferrari could still find themselves in a championship fight in 2024, I just think it's more unlikely and I'm trying not to get my own hopes up.

I just think Red Bull currently are so far ahead. They've been developing the RB20 for almost eight months now, their strategy remains the best on the grid (love u Hannah Schmitz), their pitstops are inhuman. I think it's likely they will clinch both titles in 2024.

However, I see whisperings of writing on the wall for the Red Bull dominance. Adrian Newey (the technical mastermind behind the RB F1 cars) seems to be stepping away from F1 to focus on RB's hypercars, Fred's managed to poach a bunch of key engineers for Ferrari, and something that gets me very excited–it seems that Red Bull has hit the ceiling in terms of downforce they are able to generate under the current regs. If you'll allow me to go STEM girlie for a sec, downforce is a downward force created by air passing over the car which basically allows it to both go faster and grip better. The fact that Red Bull has hit the ceiling for this, with two years out from new regs means that teams like Mercedes, and more importantly, Ferrari can catch up. Especially if said teams have brought in aero engineers who worked on the RB19 and the RB20 (like Fred has!). In plain terms, this means that Charles and Max could be in equal machinery (at least in terms of aero, unfortunately we're still stuck with the Ferrari engines that seems to work off Catholic grace) by 2025.

Obviously, things like strategy and engine still come into play, and Red Bull have already started working on the RB21 to try and make up for this deficit, but it could still prove an exciting time for F1. We could very easily see a Charles/Max, or even a Charles/Max/Lewis (if Merc also gets its shit together in the way that Ferrari is trying to) title fight in 2025.

And then of course, new regs in 2026. Which will basically reduce most of the teams back to the same starting point. Things are starting to look like they might get good for Ferrari, and I'll take five wins this year if it means a WDC in the future.

Opinion on Abu dhabi 21

Max deserved that championship.

No doubt about it. People talk about the last lap but not the thousand before it that he had to battle to put himself in the position to win that race. Scrap that race because you don’t agree with Massi’s choice, Max still wins because he was ahead on points in Jeddah. And maybe then we open up the can of worms and disqualify Lewis for that despicable Silverstone crash and the unsportsmanlike behaviour afterwards. Like, it’s done, people should draw a line under it. Massa is getting clowned for his legal battle (which focuses on actual bona fide rule breaking) but everyone is still happy to talk about a controversial but LEGAL decision? Grow up.

Now, I do believe there was and still is a real conversation about how F1 has become a slave to its own success and race directors, stewards, teams etc., are pressured not to get in the way of a spectacle. Massi didn’t want millions of people (and Liberty Media) to miss out on a fight till the last lap so he made it happen (within the rules, so no issue with it really). The fact that F1 is demonised whenever there’s not some cinematic gladiator match (see: people complaining about RB domination) and is pressured to create these spectacles through targeted technical directives or clever application of rules/inconsistent stewarding is a conversation worth having, and it was then, too.

But that wasn’t the conversation. The conversation was the vilification of a guy who’d just achieved his dream, who only got in the car and drove to the best of his ability. He was trashed the world over by the same people who would have complained about F1 being a shit sport if the race had ended under the safety car, the same people who demand intervention to protect the show.

I think it was a poor showing by F1 as a whole honestly and it really showed that they’re not above turning the sport into WWE for the subscriptions.

Oh and my final thought is I forgot to add, another reason why I dislike LH is that bit in DTS 5 when he says he wants to take back the title that was taken from him; you never had the title, don’t act like someone stole your birthright. (This actually a gripe I have with British sporting culture in general - not everything is yours to lose. You are not cheated out of something every time you lose. Sometimes someone’s just better.)

HOWEVER. ghoul is nothing to me so in nhw world i think he should just be like. a separate form. mal turns into ghoul and its the same consciousness u know? hes the same guy hes just a freak now. worm comparison i am thinking is like. what rachel does to her dogs except hes doing it to himself. with the gross muscles and bones and big mouth and shit.

OTHER THAN THAT i thinkkkkkk. ok. hear me out. i am going 2 base this on a tweet bizly made forever ago (that im SO MAD i cant find a picture of rn) but the basics was like. u remember that nightmare dakota had back in season 1 where he saw william and vyncent kill summer . that was a nightmare that mal gave him in order to split the three of them up. I may make another post or rb this to discuss the rest of the episode, but this mainly deals with the whole Tea thing

I'm-- I just-- what in the whole entire fuck was that?? Yes I saw somewhere it's supposed to be like a part 1 or 2 but.... Jeepers crappers, man.

So not only does WBY&J not react at all to what happened to Ruby last episode, tea or otherwise, but they just kinda run off, stop and... be sad??

They talk about how shit happens sometimes, then the crystal people show up and it's suddenly hugs and smiles??? Guys?!?!

Yang only reacts to Ruby being gone after she finds the wooden cocoon thing, and even then the others are quick to "It's not that bad. It's what she wanted." Like they haven't been ignoring/not noticing Ruby's severe depression and state of mind for the past few days now and that she didn't just barely blow up at them.

And something I want to address, is the show writers, and characters, and everything framed in the last episode made it quite clear that the tea was suicide. I saw a few takes saying "the tea clearly wasn't supposed to be about suicide. They wouldn't kill her off" etc. Etc.

And I want to say, no. Just, no.

The suicide thing fucking sucks, yes. But the show last episode and this one made it clear that Ruby drinking the tea was her choosing to commit suicide.

Do I think that this should've happened at all? Fuck no. This company has no goddamn clue how to write and talk about sensitive topics such as this, and they need to stop immediately.

But I cannot wrap my head around how anyone could've looked at what happened last episode and think: its just healing tea!

The show has done a terrible job of using an "unreliable narrator" or other such to convey information to the audience.

Ascension is like death, but not, but is! Jaune said its bad, but the Stars say it's good! The Cat said it's normal, but the girls think it's wrong or unnatural. The Stars dying is ok! Then it's even better than ok, because they're "better" now! Herb is new and better! Ruby will be... ?

The show doesn't properly or clearly make any information given to us make sense, and even with the knowledge that the Cat is supposed to be bad, we still don't actually know what's ok and what isn't when we look back.

Yes, Ruby is clearly going to be ok from what we saw this episode. But she still very clearly was not ok mentally, and was actually literally pushed towards taking her own life.

She said "I just don't want to be me, anymore." And then drank the tea, knowing at the very least, that she'd be remade and lose her memories, at best. At worst, it would outright kill her.

Even Neo, who likely knew less about Ascension than the rest of them, still was framing it to Ruby as suicide.

Then, when Ruby did it, Neo was distraught. Regardless of what happens to Ruby next, she's gone. And Neo now has nothing. To Neo, one way or another, Ruby is dead.

But that's the thing.

Regardless of what happens to Ruby, she viewed it as dying or not being herself anymore.

Doesn't matter if the audience knows better or thinks they know better. CRWBY, the show, the characters, everything, framed this as Ruby Rose taking her own life.

And what happens immediately after such a thing? Her friends and family run back to safety, in which I assume they're trying to head for the tree perhaps, and then they just stop and Jaune is sad.

Not even Yang or Weiss or Blake seem to really have a reaction, only until after they hug it out and see Ruby encased in wood at the tree. Suddenly it's real now. Suddenly it's different. And Yang does have a good reaction! She's panicked, crying, angry, desperate. That's her sister in there! Dunno where this reaction was before but ok, at least we got there!

But the others are quick to tell her that it's not that bad and it's up to Ruby now. Which, if they had conveyed Ascension to us in any other way, could be fun and interesting! But because it's this world's closest equivalent to death that we as an audience and the characters can compare it to, it makes it seem like suicide is a good thing.

Like it's just a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.

No matter what happens next episode, and what becomes of Ruby, the framing was still that for her and the Paper Stars, suicide is good and gives you the power up/strength you need, and your loved ones just have to accept that and move on.

And that's disgusting.

Hi I am thinking of doing a project about Mexican art and how it influenced video games for one of my classes and all I can think of for examples are just Grim Fandango. Are there any other games that use/are inspired by Mexican art that you know about or anything like that? If not that's ok, was just wondering

Hey, moot! Sorry for the delay in reply!

So other than Grim Fandango (which is obviously my favorite), there are a few I can think of, although I wish there were more. The first one that comes to mind is Guacamelee, although I never really got into that game, myself. Still, a lot of the art style is very cute and colorful and inspired by lucha libre and papel picado designs.

Another game by Tim Schafer that has some inspiration is Psychonauts, in the Black Velvetopia area. It's more Spanish design than Mexican, but there's a lot of overlap, including luchadores and some poster designs that look inspired by the lithography of José Guadalupe Posada. I haven't seen confirmation of this, but I would believe it, since the mural in the train station in Grim Fandango is also reminiscent of painter José Clemente Orozco.

On the indie front, the platformer Imp of the Sun is based on Maya and Inca mythology and design, and the upcoming Ecumene Azteca looks very promising. I'm keeping my eye on it; it's a survival RPG where you get to kill Spanish conquistadors, so what's not to love?

There is, of course, the Super Mario Odyssey inspirations used in the Sand Kingdom. While they're a little stereotypical of the kind of souvenirs tourists usually like, I think they're pretty cute. It isn't meant to be taken that seriously.

Of course, there are always games like Call of Juarez, Tomb Raider, Red Dead Revolver/Redemption, (to an extent) Far Cry 6, and Desperados that all borrow locations and design from Mexico/Latin America in some way. A lot of the most well-known games in the setting are, of course, games that feature "lost" Aztec relics, the cartel, or the wild west in some way. Of all of these, I feel Red Dead Redemption and Far Cry handle the subjects the best, although Red Dead more explicitly so. (I may also be biased because I'm a huge Giancarlo Esposito fan lmao)

On the 8-bit front, there were a couple, I think... I remember both Aztec and Montezuma's Revenge, though I can't remember what systems my dad had them on. Could've been NES, Apple II, Commodore, or Atari. Regardless, they sucked. lol

There is also, tangentially, a little-known point-and-click game called "The Interactive Adventures of Dog Mendonça and Pizza Boy," based on a comic book by Mike Mignola. I love this series, but technically it is set in Lisbon, Portugal. That said, the series and in particular the game was worked on by Argentinian, Brazilian, and Meixcan artists, and I feel the style very much lends itself to the underground Latin graphic novel styles of the early 00's.

Past that, there's precious little else, until you start getting into other game categories besides video games. At least nothing good; I think there might be a shovelware "La Llorona" game or something.

One of my favorites, though, that I've saved for last is a little inide game called El Hijo. It's an adventure game in the vein of Limbo/Inside or A Boy and His Blob, and while the gameplay itself is nothing special, the story and the art style are fantastic. It's oozing with charm and attention to detail, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. It felt a lot more in love with its setting and the culture than some of the aforementioned games do.

you could say mother. he's very close with his adoptive sister :)

red or purple. he's very blue, but a LOT of koboreals are very blue. the only exceptional thing about his appearance is his terrifyingly vibrant red eyes. also red is his favorite color because blood.

he used to enjoy killing small animals that were in the castle and would dissect them and hide or bury the remains in various spots; usually in his or his sister's room. he only stopped because he realized he could kill other dragons instead. when he mentions this fact to anyone, he laughs it off which is usually unsettling.

i vaguely know what this means but not enough to. deduce an answer uhhh

his scars. koboreals tend to favor scarred dragons because it shows theyre strong and able to fend for themselves & survive through hard moments, and he REALLY latched onto that from a young age. he's a little more wreckless than he needs to be

well there's a lot that remind me of him so it's hard to choose, but one i have on my mind rn is youre going down by sick puppies. his music taste is just mine, but to match with my headworld i think he would really like classical/piano music.

anything and everything embarassing he's done haunts him, but his definition of 'embarassed' is just extra violently angry. i'd say losing a fight, but to *HIM* losing a fight is leaving the opponent alive, which he never does. maybe the times he's on occasion flirted with dragons on missions (he's very charming, cannibalism be damned) and they flirt back. its the only embarassing thing that doesnt make him unfathomably angry -- he just can't bring himself to be pissed over it.

he IS a vampire. he's technically also a werewolf. but i think if you had to choose i'd say werewolf. maybe he'd stop drinking people's blood. (who am i kidding, he probably wouldnt)

i need to fully decide on this. mel's bed is a huge water bed shaped like a jellyfish but he is ME so he would probably sleep like me. flat on his stomach. he has no sheets, he's a koboreal and koboreals don't get cold; ESPECIALLY NOT HIM. he does not snore and does not sleepwalk. you'd expect both because of how loud and deranged he is when conscious, but he sleeps like a dead body.

he would probably choose koketira but i think he'd make the best podcast with amara. they'd probably just do some kind of chatter podcast talking about their experiences. too bad technology is tasreradian exclusive.

he is canonically really good at dancing; but AWFUL at freestyle. he can only do it well if he's told exactly what to do, but because of his inability to take advice without getting real bitchy about it, he never gets a chance to shine.

killing and eating people. he's awful he's literally a terrible person i could list so many but mostly his egotistical-ness and his lack of compassion for other creatures. he doesn't believe he's at the center of the universe, merely that everyone ELSE isn't. he treats other dragons like npcs in a video game (quite literally a huge basis of his early life behaviour.) he is basically just all of my negative traits shoved into a character and amped up to 100.

if you asked people his negative traits?

amara would say he has some bad influences, and can be a bit intense... but he means well.

mira would say he's a little mean, and gets really angry alot. but he's his best friend, so its okay!

topaz would approach the question from a methodical angle; he's sloppy when fighting, choosing to charge in and rip things to pieces rather than taking the time to think. he's impatient, but his lack of clarity in his demands just fuels his impatience. he gets very jealous, is enraged easily, and loves to place the blame on everyone but himself. ...but, otherwise, he's a good listener when you need someone to talk to.

izdaja and koke would probably say something wildly different because they met him at incredibly different points of his life.

mercedes 1263: !!!!!!!!!!!!! soooo so excited i think this will be so much fun. love that they are both comical stereotypes of their respective countries i think this is a genuinely really solid dynamic and im really looking forward to it. i dont know im kind of starting to feel like lewis leaving is maybe the only way for mercedes to be able to move on from 2021/22 and i think this duo is optimistic and also determined and hard working in a way the team really needs to revitalize itself

ferrari 1644: this scares me. like the actual interpersonal dynamic i think is completely fine i think they respect each other a lot and are at such different stages in their careers that it circumvents a lot of the ... current ferrari teammate issues but the fanbases. you know. you get it. sigh. its not gonna be pretty

rb 2230: technically not new but still fairly nascent anyway i think these guys are going to kill each other genuinely. like in the past they got away with being compared more to dr3 than each other but now it's direct competition for a seat that frankly i dont think either of them deserve and they are both incredibly incredibly competitive and volatile i only see this getting worse

haas 3187: everyones catastrophizing about this but i think itll be fine honestly. maybe im wrong but ive never seen the 31 everyone makes jokes about outside like brief flashes at monaco. honestly i see this being very similar to the sauber 2018 lineup like it doesnt even make sense to compare their perfomance theyre getting completely different things out of being here at this stage in their respective careers. do we think ollie knows who sidney crosby is or

williams 2355: Everyone here is just going to be miserable for as long as this lasts. i think 55 is a total soul suck of a person who is completely incompatible with anything jv is trying to achieve but i also dont think jv knows what he wants anymore and i think 23 got promised a lot of things that are no longer feasible. this is just bad all around

alpine 710: this is gonna be really fun i think and this is 100% my bias towards jd7 but these are both fun chill guys who can separate the on-track stuff from their actual relationship in my opinion. alpine's still rebuilding and the stakes are pretty low they just need two reliable drivers to not completely waste the budget on stupid crashes also i just think these guys will have fun being goofy together

i thought ZZZ was launching tomorrow night so. i absolutely did not put aside enough time to play it tonight orz... i started but i haven't gotten nearly far enough to actually review anything. despite that i persist. heres my thoughts for the first 3ish hours lol.

i find the combat. interesting. i think it has the potential to be really fun but i haven't really gotten to sink my teeth into it yet. not only because of time constraints but. the button layout is fucking with my muscle memory from like three different games and i cannot get it right to save my life. attack being x instead of b and dodge being y instead of rb is actually killing me. at least the ultimate button is where it should be so i'm not spamming it randomly.

i've done like. 3 cut scenes so i cannot speak to the overarching story much. i like the comedic vibe so far though. the opening scene with the reporter was pretty funny. i appreciate how they aren't just dumping world building on my head, just sorta letting me marinate in the world first.

environments looked really detailed and lovely but... i need to explore a little more. i need to know if we're getting little fun details like hsr. are there garbage cans for me to interact with. please. my inner trailblazer calls to me.

characters. again. just started. but i do like the sly hares or whatever they're called! billy is a silly goose, the girl is really funny as well. Nicole is cool. i like a stingy bitch lol. i'm really loving the mcs so far. i like their dynamic and their designs are really cute. i almost picked the female mc because i was worried about dialogue differences on the little date sections but... if i pick the guy and we don't get gender differences in the dialogue i can get some really yaoiful stuff and i can't risk missing out on that. plus hes cute. i REALLY love his eyes. the slightly lifted lower lid is a very unique and cute feature.

i think overall its interesting. the vibe is really cool and different from hoyos other games. but to be honest im not sure its for me? the modern techno fantasy thing IS cool, but it's not my favourite aesthetic. i think the arts good, but a little... plain? it doesn't really strike me as much as hoyos other products. that said it may be that they just look way better in motion. in cutscenes and stuff the charters look awesome but when they're standing still they seem a little dull. could be that i'm just used to the maximalist nature of their other games so a more restrained character reads as boring to me now...

there aren't really any designs that make me go ooohh yeah that right there is my WIFE!! and i'm not going to pretend that isn't my primary motivation for gacha games. so. we'll see how future characters turn out. everything just a bit more... cartoony i guess is the word? i dunno. nobody is really Hot with a capital H.

i'm getting off track since it's time for bed uh. one last thing. i feel very strongly i need to stop or minimize my time with others games especially in this launch period. i CAN technically keep playing everything i've got my hands on if i optimize the shit out of what i'm doing but. then i will be having absolutely no fun whatsoever and i need to avoid letting myself do that so. the current plan is

1) drop wuwa entirely for daily logins. i'm not sure i'm ready to quit quit but i don't really get much out of logging in right now so. i'll just stop and see if i miss it.

2) i'm gonna take a break from spending resin in genshin. i'm not even spending it on anything important lately and the battlepass is done so. i'm just going to stop doing it for a while. we're in the pre natlan slump so it's a good time to rest my genshin muscles.

3) as for hsr well. it's quick and we have auto lol. i'll just send my chars to grind for books since i'm literally out and it'll do both my resin and my dailies in one. truly do love this game

i know that SOUNDS a lot like optimizing and taking the fun out of everything but i swear its' not. optimizing would be finding a way to still be doing the dailies and resins for all 3 of those things plus whatever they have going on in pso. which is what i have been doing up til now. no more you hear me!! i may be the worlds biggest gacha apologist but even i can say you know what i've been indulging way to much lately i gotta cut back.

parents said i cant start hrt (or get a chest binder technically since my mom stole my last one which honestly is probably theft since i was a legal adult when it happened) until im no longer a dependent and my mom straight up threatened me to not do it (????????)

so in order to start hrt and get a binder as soon as i can without endangering my safety im going to absolutely Kill Myself (18 credit hours every fall and spring semester, and 12 credit hours every summer semester) starting next semester until i graduate. wish me luck :giving the weakest thumbs up known to man:
