Finished Winter Turning in my 'reread WoF at an acceptable pace' journey. Lemme tell you reading fanfiction has really evolved(?)/ruined the original concept of him as a character.

His original story revolves around this process of tearing down the ideas that were carved into you by the people that were around you when you really didn't have a choice who was around you.

And it's this process that god knows I had to drag myself through. I've learned and am still learning to be a lot kinder to myself and the people around me.

It really breaks my heart to see him not being fast enough in this journey to change himself to allow him to get the happy ending he so desperately (in my opinion) deserves, and I don't know what this says about myself and my own journey.

Anyway writing this down because it's something I want to remember.

Vlad is planning something big, something powerful and he’s using his wealth and connections to make it happen. Danny realizes that his parents' tech and his friend's aid isn’t going to cut it, and brute forcing the matter as Phantom is just going to ruin his reputation permanently.

What he needs is another different fruitloop, and thankfully for him the world is pretty damn full of them.

but he needs a very specific fruitloop, the one with a big company, advanced high end tech, so much money they don’t really know what to do with it and preferably they gotta be an absent figure, because Danny is on a mission, he’s not looking to get a new parent (he has his own)

Now he just needs to get in on that, and he decides to do that by using what little he managed to remember from Vlad’s “you will be the heir of Dalv,co” rants and Sam’s ideas on environmentalism. cause Queen apparently cares a lot about giving back to the little guy.

Which is great! very important, even if his business kinda suffers from how he goes about it (but Danny can help with that! somehow! he’ll figure it out, can’t be that hard) 

We can’t all be Brucie Wayne, but we certainly can try.  

So anyway, shouldn’t be too hard, he’s got some history in the field of environment stuff what with the whole purple back gorilla thing.

and Ollie takes one good look at this smart enthusiastic black haired blue eyed teen and is like, “oh neat! my very own Tim Drake Wayne” and he just goes with it.

Danny’s hidden power of drawing in rich people is truly something to behold…

Oliver is more than happy to just let Danny do whatever he wants as long as it doesn’t break the law or look bad on him, and no drugs, he was very clear on that.

and Danny is like great, I can now work on undermining Vlad and ruin his plans!

but then… Dinah…

“You are not going to do a repeat of Roy!”

Dinah is very effective, and the whole thing starts small enough.

Oliver personally shows him around in the company, makes sure to introduce him to the important folks.

that evolves into occasionally checking up on him, making sure he takes the appropriate amount of breaks.

then he takes him to a baseball match, he had multiple tickets… would have been a waste to refuse.

Then Dinah insists he tags along for dinner in a restaurant (there were some others, it was actually not awkward at all somehow, quite nice really), this grows into dinner at the penthouse.

It's when Oliver expresses the desire to teach Danny archery, telling him there are a lot of things in the sport that are also applicable to business stuff that Danny comes to a sudden and violent realization.

He's being parented!

Neglected Decepticon Heir AU - One-shot: The Birth of Ironshard

Warning: English is not my first language so sorry if it’s a bit confusing! ^^’

Here we go with a one-shot from my TFG1 AU: Neglected Decepticon Heir AU! ^^

This one-shot will be about Ironshard's creation and how he ended up in Starscream's and Soundwave's care!

Cybertron; Iacon; Decepticons's headquarters:

Starscream was standing in the throne room alongside Shockwave, a scold on his face.

The whole Decepticon army was present on Megatron's order for an “important announcement”.

This just made the SIC snort in disdain, he bet the fool came up with another stupid plan against the Autobots which will fail.

How pathetic! If Starscream was the Decepticons’s leader they would have won this blasted war long ago! 

He was keeping on rambling in his thoughts until Megatron finally appeared with Soundwave, to the Seeker’s confusion the Decepticon tyrant was holding something small wrapped in a purple fabric. 

Megatron walked toward his throne and turned around to stand face to face with his army before speaking in a booming and authoritarian voice.

“-Decepticons! Today a new step to our future victory against the Autobots has been made! With a few of our mechs I managed to infiltrate the depths of Cybertron to Vector Sigma right under those blasted Autobots’s noses and to bring to this world one important advantage to our cause which will ensure our enemies’s inevitable downfall!”

Blah blah blah! How many times Starscream had heard Megatron say that?

For all his great eloquence and strength, the old fool still had to give concrete results!

“-And so Decepticons! I present to you all the heir to the Decepticons’s throne!”

…

Wait what?

Starscream could only stare in shock with wide eyes as Megatron unwrapped the fabric revealing a little Sparkling in a black and purple armor, staring at the whole room with big red confused optics.

“-Behold Ironshard! The future leader of the Decepticons!”

WHAT?!

“-A SPARKLING?! THIS SON OF A GLITCH CREATED A SPARKLING WHILE WE ARE IN A WAR AND STRUGGLING WITH ENERGON RESSOURCES? WHAT WAS HE THINKING?”

To say that Starscream was angry was an understatement.

Megatron could have done so many things during his infiltration mission to Vector Sigma: he could have created more soldiers, attacking and taking over Vector Sygma from the inside and gaining a big advantage over the Autobots or even steal the Allspark which was within Vector Sigma.

But noooooooo! Instead Megatron decided to pick the most wasteful option and by connecting his spark directly with Vector Sygma had created a Sparkling!

A Sparkling! A fragging Sparkling! Another mouth to feed when energon ressources aren’t high!

“-Starscream, we heard you ranting about it the 10 first times! And honestly, it’s becoming annoying!”

“-Oh don’t waste your vocal processor TC! You and I know dear Screamer is only pissed because now there’s a “Megatron Jr” around his chances to be “the new Decepticons’s leader” are now thinner!”

Starscream throwed a dark glare at his trinemates.

Thundercracker looked very annoyed while Skywarp was grinning at him as if his trineleader’s outburst was the funniest thing existing.

As much as he wanted to snap back, the Decepticon SIC knew that Skywarp wasn’t wrong.

For all his barking about potential resources problems, Starscream’s anger was actually about Megatron’s spawn’s own existence, or rather about the meaning of the spawn’s existence.

For a long time he planned and plotted to get rid of Megatron and take his rightful place as the leader of the Decepticons but now an official “heir” existing made his plans to be leader harder.

Why in Primus’s name does the universe always seem out to get him?

A noise from his com broke Starscream from his reflection and the seeker quickly picked up.

“-What is it?” He asked, annoyed.

“-Starscream: must come to Megatron’s quarters immediately: Megatron’s orders!” Soundwave’s robotic voice resonated through the com.

“-Very well! Tell “Lord Megatron” that I’ll be here soon!” Starscream answering with a tone drowning in sarcasm.

The seeker quickly closed his com and begin to walk through the door when he heard Skywarp laughing behind him.

“-Good luck Screamer! Don’t get too much on Megatron’s nerves!”

Starscream just sighed, and he was sure he also heard Thundercracker sighing at the same time, at his trinemate’s behavior before keeping walking toward Megatron’s quarters.

Whatever the old fool could have wanted with him, it couldn’t be any worse than everything happening today!

“-YOU WANT ME TO WHAT?!”

He took back what he said earlier: it was worse!

“-You hear me right!” Megatron stated.”My heir needs to be taken care of and taught the Deceptions way to become a worthy leader in the future! But I have a war to win, Autobots to crush! I have no time for such trivial matters! That’s why you and Soundwave will take care of Ironshard and make sure he is properly educated!” 

He couldn't be serious? Him? Starscream? Taking care of a Sparkling?

It was outrageous!

“-Understood. Task accepted.” Soundwave stated in his emotionless synthetic voice.

“-Excellent!” Megatron replied, satisfied. ”Make sure he becomes a warrior worthy of the name! Make him strong! Ruthless! A worthy heir to the Decepticon cause and to my throne! I leave the details to you!”

“-Lord Megatron you can’t be serious?” Starscream whined.”I’m the second in command, I have way more important duties to do! I don’t have time to take care of a Sparkling!”

“-Are you refusing a direct order, Starscream?” Megatron asked.

“-No, no! Of course not.” The seeker quickly said.”I’m just saying that I don’t think it would be reasonable or even practical for me to raise your heir while being the second in command and the air force commander at the same time!”

“-And I don’t care about what your opinion is! You will raise my heir into a perfect Decepticon and that final!” Megatron told with a point of irritation in his voice.

“-But Megatron this is ridiculo- Ack!”

Megatron suddenly grabbed Starscream’s throat in a firm grip, the tyrant looking now angry.

“-I think I haven't been clear Starscream: I ORDER you and Soundwave to take care of MY HEIR and to ensure his education to teach him the Deception way to make him worthy of being the future Decepticons leader and unless you want a reminder of who give the orders in this army, you will do as I command!”

He then squeezed his grip making the Seeker agonize in pain.

“-Am I being clear?”

“-Y-yes… Cr-crystal clear…” Starscream articulated with difficulty.

Satisfied with the answer Megatron dropped Starscream on the floor.

“-Good! Now leave! I have a war to win and you and Soundwave have an heir to look after!”

“-... Yes, “Lord Megatron”!” The SIC said, his voice full of venom while rubbing his sore throat before leaving with Soundwave.

Starscream’s mood was sour when he and Soundwave, with Laserbeak on Soundwave’s shoulder, got to Ironshard's “nursery”, well, if you could call it a nursery.

The room, bathing in darkness with only a little light barely illuminating the center of the room, was sparsely decorated, with only a makeshift crib and playpen.

The sound of machinery could be heard in the background in a constant “hum” and the air thick with the strong smell of oil.

Not really a decent room for a Sparkling’s nursery, then again, with the war going on and the energon ressources problems they were facing, the Decepticons didn’t had good accommodations in a long time. So, it was not surprising that this wouldn’t be any different for a Sparkling’s room.

Said Sparkling was in the “crib” looking at the two adult Cybertronians with big round curious red optics.

The Sparkling, Ironshard Starscream recalled, in Megatron's hand looked tiny, but now Starscream could look at him closer the Sparkling seemed bigger than the few Sparklings he had seen in Vos back on Cybertron before the war.

Then again, considering who his creator was, Starscream can guess it was pretty normal for a grounder Sparkling to be bigger than a Seekerling of the same age.

Still, this was not changing the ridiculousness of the situation!

“-This is preposterous! I’m the Decepticons SIC and air commander! I should be planning for the next battle against the Autobots, not be some kind of… of glorified nanny for a scraplet!”

“-Megatron’s order: non-negotiable!; Ironshard: heir of Megatron and future of the Decepticons!; Ironshard's upbringing: primordial for the cause!”

The Seeker sneered at the TIC with scorn.

Of course Soundwave would defend Megatron's orders and his “little project”, what expecting else from one of Megatron's favorites lapdogs?

A series of clicks and chirps get his attention and Starscream looks down to see Ironshard looking at him and doing a “pick me up” motion.

“-Oh no! No no no no! Nope! Absolutely not! If you think for one moment that I will indulge you with cuddles you’re wrong!” 

The Sparkling only insisted harder, he even began to whine in a tone which looked like a demand.

Soundwave made a disapproving sound as if it was to criticize Starscream’s behavior.

“-Don’t start with me Soundwave! We have been ordered to take care of him and educate him to become “a Decepticon worthy of the name” not to coddle him and being all mushy-mushy, we are not bleeding-spark Autobots!-”

“-”Starscream! Soundwave! The Sparkling is climbing the crib!” Laserbeak’s alarmed screams startled them both.

They quickly turned their heads, their optics went wide in alarm at the sight of Ironshard having climbed the crib…

And begin to dangerously tumble.

Starscream and Soundwave both let out a panicked scream and the Seeker quickly throws himself to catch the Sparkling before he could fall.

In a panic frenzy, Starscream examined the Sparkling from head to toe for any injuries and loudly sighed in relief once he was sure Ironshard was fine.

He heard behind him Soundwave letting out a relieved sigh and Starscream then turned back his attention toward a bubbling Ironshard with an angry scowl on his face.

“-WHAT THE FRAG WAS THAT YOU LITTLE GLITCH?! YOU COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT AND THEN MEGATRON WOULD HAVE SCRAP ME TO DEATH FOR THAT! SERIOUSLY DID YOUR CREATOR FRAGGED UP SOMETHING DURING YOUR CREATION AND MADE YOU-”

The little Sparkling, completely oblivious of the Seeker’s anger, took profit from Starscream having brought him closer to him to give him a hug and let out happy content chirps which made Starscream stop dead his angry diatribe to look at the Sparkling for a few seconds realizing something in a very big confusion.

Did… Did the little scraplet voluntarily climb the crib to push him to hold him in his servos so he could cuddle him? 

Oh that cunning little!- 

The seeker let out a big frustrated, tired sigh.

“-Online for not even a solar cycle and you're already as stubborn as your sire!” 

The Sparkling only cooed and kept snuggling against the seeker’s platting.

“-Query: beginning of operation: Sparkling caretaking?” Soundwave interrupted his thoughts.

The Seeker started at the TIC before sighing and narrowed his optics at him.

“-Very well! But let’s be clear, Soundwave! If we’re to raise him, we’re going to do it on my terms so he will not become some foolish brute like his creator! So like this when I’ll be the Deceptions leader he will!-” Starscream paused for a few seconds, thinking of what he just before his faceplates morphed in realization, his optics staring at the Sparkling.

Yes, of course! Why didn’t he think about this earlier?

He is going to raise  the heir of the Decepticons’s throne, the future of the cause, a blank canvas he can shape into his vision!

Well, sure Soundwave will participate in the upbringing but the main thing here is a Megatron will have no part in it!

He will have no say, no influence, not even a little input, the old fool preferring focusing on the war rather than educating his own heir into becoming a Decepticon leader, leaving to Starscream total free reign to raise the scraplet-no! Ironshard how he wants and turning Megatron’s so-called legacy into his own!

And when Starscream will finally dethrone Megatron and take his rightful place as the Decepticons leader, he will then make Ironshard HIS heir and secure HIS legitimacy and legacy!

Yes! YES! THAT WAS IT!

With this plan, he will crush Megatron in every way possible! This will be his greatest victory against him!

It was perfect!

A sly smile appeared on Starscream’s face, he then cradled Ironshard in his arms, making sure the Sparkling was comfortably settled.

“-Well little one, looks like I’m going to be stuck with you! So, let's see what we can make of you, shall we?” He said as he tickled Ironshard’s chin with one of his digits.

The Sparkling giggled and playfully grabbed the digit, an action which made Starscream’s expression slightly soften before he quickly recomposed himself.

“-Hum-hum… Well let’s begin with those lessons! Listen closely, Ironshard. Lesson number 1: Always watch your back, especially around your dear old sire!”

Soundwave just sighed at the scene, Laserback on his shoulder just started at the Seeker with annoyed optics.

This co-mentorship is not going to be easy.

I done got frustrated

My desire to keep my opinions to myself managed to last most of the day. New record tbh.

So like I wrote this big long rant a couple of weeks ago and decided against sharing it while I was still frustrated. But I do feel like maybe there is a larger discussion to be had! I think it's important that we as a writeblr community really take a look at why so many of us are getting so frustrated so often and how we as a community and as individuals can work towards an actually community vs a corner of social media. @blind-the-winds did an excellent job of explaining some of what I'm seeing as well in relation to why a lot of positivity and support posts and such ring hollow to so many of us. I wanted to bring a slightly different perspective to things coming from a marketing/social media marketing background. Under the cut out of respect for everyone's dashboards lol

This is going to get INCREDIBLY LONG. So I have a read more here. Behold, the bitchfest.

So this started today when I was chatting with an irl friend and expressing my frustrations about writeblr in general as a community. And what I've recognized now is this: writeblr isn't really much of a community, and it is very rare to find other creators and writers who are willing to treat you (the hypothetical writer) as another human being with a love for the same craft they do. Those people who do treat you like people are some of the loveliest people I've found on the internet, but they are hard to find.

Now, to be clear, I don't think the problem is completely writeblr's fault, nor do I believe it is any one or two or five hundred individual's fault. The problem comes from a number of different sources, and my friend did a great job of helping me see the problem from a number of different perspectives.

The problem being this: it is impossible to get engagement on posts that feature original long-form writing, and it is exceedingly difficult to effectively foster meaningful connections with other writers.

Some disclaimers: it's not impossible, and the people who successfully receive engagement on their long-form writing tend to be the people who are the exceptions proving the rule. Also, by "engagement" I mean any interaction that serves to both consume the content and spread the content. "Original" writing refers to writing that is not fandom related, and "long-form" means 1k words or more.

Do you think 1k words is a little short for "long-form" writing? Me too. I'll get to that.

I'll start my explanation here with what catalyzed these revelations in my little head. Over night, I got quite a few new followers, all directly coming from a post that got mildly popular here on writeblr. So, I looked at what other posts of mine have been popular, and I started to notice a trend.

My most popular posts tend to fit into one of three categories: memes, tag games, and boost posts/recommendations. Memes tend to be popular because they're funny and easy to spread, and as long as they fit the theme, they don't ruin a blog's aesthetic. Tag games get more interaction because I am directly tagging people to see the post. But the popularity for those posts tend to stop at the half dozen to a dozen people tagged in each given post (the person or people tagging me, and the several people I tag to continue the game). The last category is most interesting to me, the boost posts and recommendations.

Here's the thing, I only boost or rec other writers and blogs if I have invested interest and care into the person behind the blog and their content. AKA, I only really boost friends and writers I admire/like their content. It's great to see that those posts get popular with people outside my circle, but out of those three categories, none of them feature my own content.

Why is that?

It seems like every day I see a new post with a few thousand notes at least complaining about a lack of interaction on writeblr and the importance of reblogs and blah blah I rarely stop to read those let alone spread them. And a few dots connected, I think.

If my content isn't getting interaction, and your content isn't getting interaction, then what is? And I think the answer is this: memes, advice, and boosts.

Memes and advice are self-explanatory. But boosts are interesting because you will see everyone hop on to rec other people or more frequently market themselves, but they stop there. And I see my greatest influx of interaction and new followers when I boost other people's works or blogs.

My conclusion is that many people are using writeblr as a hustle and not a community. In a community we engage with each other, talk to each other, enjoy each other's company. And I've found many mutuals to be very lovely people who I do enjoy and who I love to engage with and who I like to genuinely call my friends. I like a lot of yall for different reasons too! Some of you are great hype buddies, some of yall are all about that accountability buddy system, and I really love when I get to have intellectual conversations about the craft and different concepts with different members of writeblr too.

But largely, I find that a lot of people who engage once with my blog, usually on those boost posts, or who ask for engagement more frequently than when frustration strikes, tend to be the people who think of writeblr as a hustle. They see that I (and many other writers) will boost and rec our friends, and jump on that bandwagon, but instead of putting in the effort to get to know us and our work, they say what needs to be said, hop on trends, and avoid any genuine connection.

So what gives?

It's not the individual writers, I think. It's the nature of social media, marketing, and the medium.

Listen, I work in marketing, and long-form writing is a dying art that is very difficult to market. I genuinely think the concept of "tldr" really ruined a lot of people's ability to engage with longer form writing. Whether that be nonfiction opinion posts or actual fiction. Tumblr is one of the only places I can think of where long-form writing is a feasible medium to post at all, let alone gain a following for.

Think about it: instagram is best suited for images, videos, and short-form aestheticized poetry. Twitter has a character limit that requires long threads of individual tweets or images to get your message across. Pitch events are well-suited for twitter because your pitch by definition needs to be short. But sharing actual summaries, snippets, or excerpts? Not really possible. Tiktok is for videos, which as we know can be utilized, but is not the most efficient method of marketing written word. Ao3 is an archive with an excellent tagging system, but to get readers, outside marketing is required. Facebook requires a real name, and isn't really well suited for content creation either. Wattpad, Royal Road, and others are great for posting actual works, but they don't necessarily have well-functioning tag systems that help the author find their audience. That really just leaves Tumblr. Pillowfort is also an option, though it's still so in the beginning phase of development that it's pretty difficult to get started there.

It's well known in marketing that images and videos catch attention and long paragraphs of text (AKA what most prose looks like) tend to be scrolled past. The very nature of the long-form writing medium is against most marketing techniques. Marketing long-form writing needs to look different from any other medium.

All that being said: the culture of social media engagement has shifted, and this is a conversation that fandom has been having and I think has actually been doing well discussing the different facets of how the culture has shifted. Fandom (and content creation in general) is seen as a commodity to be consumed. Consumers want to see the content, maybe save it for later, and then move on to the next piece. This is easily done with visual mediums, but writing mediums are especially vulnerable to this culture shift because it does require so much time and energy to consume, let alone engage.

Creators don't see their work as a commodity to be consumed, but it is now. When consumers view a piece of visual media, they view the image (consume it) and then move to the next, some will spread it to others by engaging with the picture through reblogs or sending the post to someone else. But most often, there will be a "like" to tell the creator good job, and then scroll to the next. This is harder to do with written media unless one has the time and energy to read the piece. There's the extra step of critical thought.

To put it a different way, the market is flooded with content and creators. With so much to choose from, the consumer now does not have to participate in the community to ensure continued creation. There will be another creator tomorrow. The consumer no longer feels connected to a community of their interests, it is simply being sold to them.

So back to writeblr, this is where I am at a crossroads. I am tired of creating content to be consumed, I want community. But also, I have nowhere else to turn. I can either completely withdraw from what sliver of community I have found, or I can keep trucking along, create my stuff, play the games we play, chat with the people I do like and do care about, and hope that I don't get too frustrated one day and leave for good.

So WillOfWinnie decided to do A Thing(tm), and gave a very early birthday gift in the form of not one, but 17 pieces of art for Scaling the Walls of a Mystery, my monstrously large (nearly 200k up and more on the way) Dragalia Lost post-game fic on AO3!

Of course, I'm now legally obligated to share them, but since it'd be a lot for one post, I'll be splitting them up into 17 posts to give each one the love it deserves, in the order of their chronology in the fic! I'll also be updating the fic itself with the art du jour so any new readers who understandably ignore this rant-heavy blog still can see the art!

While I normally try to remember to keep the fic stuff out of the main tag as not to clutter or come off as too advertise-y, for these, if there's any enjoyment that might be found as a non-reader from these, I'll be tagging the main tag. Gave him no time to ponder the implications of this, as he too burst into the sky, wind mana aiding his escape. Try as he might, Leonidas could not muster the energy or strength to beat back the winds buffeting his ascent as ‘Euden’ climbed higher and higher into the sky, before disappearing completely above the clouds. Eventually he gave it up, begrudgingly returning to his mortal flesh. Oh, this stranger may have escaped this day, but he would be found. The hunt was far from over, and oh what a hunt it would be.

I met the turtles in a bit of an accident.

I was casually painting a VERY boring wall I found in the sewer, (What? I see a boring area in New York and I just HAVE to spice it up) when I was attacked by these weird origami ninjas and these two guys with feet on their faces.

Thankfully, the turtles, (Who I didn't know were turtles at the time. The sewers are SO DARK and my flashlight had died) saved me, (But I had to leave my spray paint back in the sewer. Dammit!!) Dropped me off at near an exit, and told me to stick to the surface.

NATURALLY, I followed them. (WHAT?! They saved my life, AND were cool ninjas. I wasn't going to ditch that!!) Found their cool lair and all that jazz, and started dropping by after school. Soon after that, I started hanging out with them more and more.

WAIT IS THAT WHY SEONGHWA WAS SO MEAN ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE AISHA WAS STILL THERE. DID HE FIGURE OUT SHE WAS A MIMIC ALREADY AND THAT SHE NOTICED HED SEEN TOO MUCH AND THAT HED BE NEXT SO HE ACTED DIFFERENTLY SO THE OTHERS COULD BE SET OFF... WAIT A DAMN MINUTE U GENIUS... wait or was "aisha" another mimic. i just got to the part where woo slams aisha against the wall and asks abt the rats and where seonghwa is. ok so cool this was not a big reveal and my memory is just bad. dont mind me. nothing to see here, sDFJKHSDFJKHDF so wait then do we know When seonghwa switched places w the mimic? was it from when wooyoung first left him outside and he was looking into the window to check on seonghwa, or was that still seonghwa and he played up his frustrated at woo and kissed mc so that the mimic would get the wrong impression?

ok back to this chapter. as soon as it was another sparring session w san i was like SOMETHING lgbt is going to happen here (i cant say homoerotic bc this is an m/f pair but i refuse to believe that mc is straight so they are going to be looking at each other extremely bisexually. besides whats the het equivalent of "something lgbt just happened to me" anyway.) and LO AND BEHOLD... ive been waiting for san and mc's relationship to get a kickstart after hwa and woo's has had so much development and i am VERY pleased with where this is (was? :') ) going. like i am ALWAYS here for a "apprentice gets the best of the mentor" moment but with the added sexual tension??? DELICIOUS.

i also love how we had an entire scene of san just internally freaking the fuck out in bisexual. like that is so fucking real. but i also love how he acknowledges hes not suddenly in love w mc, he just needs to feel needed and now that she gave him that its starting to hit a bit different. and the way his second thought is abt what woo or hwa would think... boy you are down HORRENDOUS. i respect it deeply.

yk at first i was like is this gonna be another Jealousy Moment™ cause while i usually hate those u manage to make them so delicious somehow. but then i was like its kinda hard to imagine yeosang of all people being this flirty and forward. as soon as he said kuroku tho i was like OH. FUCK. HE KNOWS. here they come. GODDD that fight scene was so TENSE!!!! one of my first thoughts was now mc is going to have all sorts of new burn scars from him. but aw man, woo being the first to find her and come to her defense despite being the one who only Just stopped actively hating her... ohhh that timing... :')

the way that woo obviously figures it out before the fight ends but he STILL fights them off anyway... also is "Then he begins." a callback to seonghwa describing using his gift as just Beginning? bc if so that was incredibly subtle and incredibly clever and packs one hell of a punch i love it. then he Begins. AW YEAH BABY, SHITS ABOUTTA GO DOWN.

and then mc kicking some absolute ASS thanks to sans sword training?? FUCK YEAH!!! SLAYYYY GIRLIE <3 THATS MY GIRL <3 her pride was almost contagious that was so satisfying lololol

ngl when woo ran off w her i thought for a moment like. wait is he going to try and keep it a secret from the others to spare their feelings? like goes "you better be able to still get us a reward in kuroku, so i can play along for now," n then they have to tip toe around why their relationship became so antagonistic again... BUT THEN HE DIDNT. THEN HE. THEN. THEN,

THIS. the implication here that she couldve told him. i feel like this speaks VOLUMES. cause at least to me, it feels very obvious why she didnt tell him - to stay alive, she her best bet was getting to kuroku. they were helping her do that. if she told them she couldn't actually guarantee their reimbursement, what reason would they have to continue with her? telling them would be basically signing her own fate to be left on her own. but he doesnt say "you lied" or "you only ever cared about yourself" or even "you were using me," he says "how could you not tell me?" as if she should've. as if she could've. as if she could've told him and he'd still take her to kuroku, or even keep her secret. or maybe he wasnt and hes just betrayed bc of how close he thought they were but like thats how i read it

“You couldn’t let your guard down but you could sleep with me." i mean, okay, he's rightfully hurt but this feels a little out of pocket, like, i thought we established after their first time in the tavern that sex didnt equal trust or love or anything SKJDFHKFDG but i suppose thats just the easiest way to address the relationship theyd built that was not really platonic in nature?

“You weren’t a fool-”

i havent done one of these in a while, so here’s a little review of the new webkinz cocker spaniel!! as well as some uhhh....words. about webkinz next as a game >_>

first off, the packaging was outstanding!!

i thought the plush was just going to be stuffed into the box, but lo and behold, there was another box inside! and webkinz tissue paper!!! how cute is that?? i was absolutely blown away!

the plush itself is really cute, and the quality just blew me away.

it features the hard plastic glitter eyes that are really popular with kids toys. ive seen them on anything from beanie babies to squishies. in terms of marketing to a new generation of kids, i think this was a great move.

the inner ears and the bottom of the feet are this super shiny gold vinyl fabric!

the quality of said vinyl/pleather is great. super thick without making the plush lose any squish. the stitches are clean, so theres no wrinkles. you can also see the new tush tag here!

i wasnt able to get a picture of it, but theres also an embroidered cupcake on her left hip. i believe all of the plushes have their own unique patch like that!! i think its such a cute touch, and brings a lot of character to these little guys.

the shorter fur is incredibly soft. its a lot like a douglas plush, and its one of my favorite textures so ofc im obsessed. the longer fur on the ears isnt as soft, but it looks great with the rest of the fur, and the length breaks up the colors a bit more without being too loud.

she is also HUGE! thats what finally convinced me to get one of them. i saw a tiktok about the new plushes, and finally got a sense of scale. heres a comparison to classic webkinz plush:

shes about double the size!! (i with i had my classic cocker spaniel plush on hand, but the golden retriever is the same pattern, so noah will have to do for now lol)

overall im super satisfied with the plush itself. its WELL worth the price. the quality and size already makes it worth it, but the fact you get two codes (for classic and next) goes above and beyond.

the new plushes are $29.99 with free shipping, which i think its a fair price.

now, in game stuff:

her food is a nice throwback to the classic cocker spaniel’s food! which is beef flavored gumdrops. super sweet.

and in both games you get the spaniel gazebo. i wouldve loved if they did something like the buried bone fridge like the original, but its a nice item regardless.

below is a somewhat incoherent rant about webkinz next. if youre just here for the plush review, feel free to ignore it!!

now, if you have a webkinz classic account, you can make an account on webkinz next for free, and you even get a free pet, which is also nice. unfortunately, the game is just...bad. its not good. the movements are so weird, all the animals just slide around super quick even while walking slowly. all of the character designs are super uncanny. ms. biscuits has human teeth?? its bad.

you also only get a set amount of plays??? for any of the arcade games??? which is an awful feature. you can win tickets so buy more plays, but still. thats literally your only way of making kinzcash, and you only get 6 plays a day for each game. which, by the way, are redone in 3d. and look bad.

while i dont see myself playing the new game, i can see theyre trying. i really just wish theyd redo the game in 2d, or overhaul every single model in game. there really isnt a single one that actually looks good.

its a shame too, because the plush is amazing. and id love for gen alpha to have a new webkinz for themselves, because it was a HUGE part of my childhood, and still a portion of my life even now almost 15 years later.

and thats just it. its still something i love, and play every day, because its good! its fun! the art is appealing, theres so much you can do even without deluxe. sometimes i find myself overwhelmed because theres just so much.

i feel like if the art style wasnt as...gross? creepy? they really could have something here. sooo many companies seem to think 3d is better just because its 3d. and webkinz next is a shining example of why that just isnt true. kids are SCARED of it. ADUKLTS ARE TOO. flesh suit ms. cowoline is going to give me actual nightmares.

what kid is going to play this? the models are just flat out ugly. theres no charm. it all just feels soulless and lifeless when you compare it to classic.

this doesnt change how i feel about the plush, because i love it and im happy i can bring her to life with my other pets on classic, i just cant see the new game going anywhere. sure, theyll make money selling plushes, but not many people are even going to be playing the new game just based on that alone. if this is someones first impression of webkinz, its going to leave a pretty bad taste in their mouth. i can only see this harming their already waning popularity.

thats really all i have to say. i still highly recommend the plush, even if you dont intend to play webkinz next, because you can have just as much fun in classic.

So I was targeted by a blackmailer yesterday. Didn’t work, but this seems like a fine void to tell this story to.

It started on Feeld, a dating app for kink and polyamory. Picture of a cute girl, empty profile, generic tags, but whatever. She’s cute, so I swipe right. Lo and behold, she swipes back and we match. We chatted for a bit, she’s in New York and I’m going to be there (now) today and tomorrow, ask if she’s up for some casual fun. She says yes, asks for my number.

🚩 1: her profiled was terminated as soon as we switched to text. Weird but 🤷‍♂️

So we’re chatting over text. She asks for my insta and a recent selfie. I assumed this is a safety thing, just making sure I am who I say I am and that I look like my profile pics. I ask her to do the same and she does, although the insta profile is private. It’s fine, again, that is a totally normal safety thing. We talk about safety and consent, meeting in public, kinks, interests, boundaries, etc.

This is all very run of the mill pre-hookup talk, but 🚩2: she’s just, like, not super aware of things that have already happened in this conversation, dodging questions about where and when to meet, etc. Like, I said multiple times that I’m coming up to NY for a couple days, and then an hour later she’s asking if I live alone.

Like, I assume this scam works pretty well on people who are cheating or said some horrendous things in the dirty talk or have body image issues or what have you. I am none of those things. So anyway. After that, I texted all my friends and posted on all my social media that someone was trying to blackmail me with releasing these NSFW pics and to please just block if they get a random message. The Letterman maneuver. That seemed to shut him up. Some more ranting about how he was going to ruin my life and the internet never forgets and then I just ignored him.

So anyway. That was a very stupid night but hopefully someone out there can learn from my mistakes.
