Actually, nobody talks about how hard it is to be a fan of Chuuya and Dazai and their canon dynamic who does NOT ship them because EVERYTHING is about that ship.

Want to find an analysis about either character? Have to go in and see if the person making it ships them (hint: 98% chance they do) then have to check their other analyses to see if they let shipping blind their thinking. And even if they don’t, still have to proceed with caution because those shipping goggles love to slap themselves onto shippers randomly. This goes triple for analyses on their dynamic.

Want fanart that features the two of them? Too bad, it’s 97% ship related. Yes even if it’s just a canon scene, the artist has most likely added stuff to make it shippy. Want fanart of only one of them? There’s still a chance there’s subtle things on the art that makes it seem like they did date or are dating/in love.

Memes and jokes? Run into the same problem.

Fanfiction that’s not even about either of them? Somehow the writer has to throw it in there.

Oh and you can’t block the tags here on tumblr because hardly anyone tags the ship related stuff as “dachuu” or something, they all use “SKK” or “soukoku” or “double black” which means all content related to them is also blocked. (Update: more ppl use “dazai x chuuya” or “chuuya x dazai” but it only filters out about 1/3 of ship stuff)

In all my years I’ve never been in a fandom where one can’t go anywhere without seeing a non-canon ship plastered everywhere to the point where it’s hard to enjoy the characters and story as is.

So I was rewatching S3 and it made me realise just how awful mike and el truly are together romantically, (well, duh) and how shitty it would be if they were endgame

In *this* scene they don't even discuss eachothers feelings, talk about their breakup or talk about why the other person was upset etc etc....

they just simply avoid talking about any of their issues, and el is peachy with him again like nothing happened

and if, on the rare occasion they do discuss their issues (referencing S4) it just leads to gaslighting and denial.

and the whole time I was watching it I was just like "really el?? really?? you'll take him back just like THAT??"

I found it so interesting how he still called her a "species" like I know it's meant to be comedic or whatever but like cmon michael😭😭

comparing jancy talking about their problems (in the same ep might I add) and listening to why the other person was upset is just so telling honestly.

Because how are you going to sit there and say Alicent recounted a fabricated version of Blood and Cheese to historians to make Rhaenyra look bad and that’s why you changed it.

The very same Alicent that you say has been humbled this season and betrayed her sons to help Rhaenyra.

How are you so stupid that you can’t even keep her characterization the same in your own brain when you rationalize your butchering of the story you were tasked with adapting. Which one is it? Is Alicent the humbled Rhaenyra helper who wanted to doom her male relatives. Or is Alicent the bitter Rhaenyra hater who destroyed her reputation in the histories. SHE CANNOT BE BOTH RYAN.

And if this is some weak attempt at saying Alicent will change again…FUCK YOU. Because you threw out her season 1 characterization completely for this season 2 humbled Alicent arc. Only to apparently throw it all out AGAIN for a queen in chains who hates Rhaenyra and will ruin her reputation arc for seasons 3 and 4. In which case WHAT WAS THE REASON. WHY DID YOU EVEN DO THIS. I’m just saying. That Ryan Condal is not even capable of figuring out who he wants Alicent to be. So he just uses his weird misinterpretations and hatred of Alicent to excuse every bizarre and stupid creative decision he makes. And all that does is make Alicent a character with absolutely zero consistency. Because she is Rhaenyra’s best friend, then she’s Rhaenyra’s biggest hater, then she’s Rhaenyra’s supporter again (the toasting scene???), then she’s a usurper, then she helps Rhaenyra, then she’s apparently going to hate Rhaenyra all over again and recount fabrications to history. And on and on it goes.

At this point just let Alicent hate Rhaenyra and be done with it. I’m tired

Call me homophobic, but I don't actually think it's great representation to stick a complex, dynamic, newly-realized bisexual character permanently with a flat, boring, underdeveloped love interest just because that was the first guy who showed interest.

Tamlin is actually such an underrated character in acotar. Because of feyres very biased narrative she forces readers to ignore the complexity of his character and man. its sad

Tamlin is a character who is genuinely GOOD at his core. He changed so much of the spring court for good, eliminating slavery within the spring lands and mortals having more protection. Hes a morally good character that made a few mistakes and is boiled down to just those mistakes. Locking feyre in the house and the magical/emotional blow up, which are both pretty decent fuck ups (i dont think siding with hybern fully counts as he was a double agent all along and tamlin was decently justified in thinking feyre was being kept against her will. lets be fr here) and even after he’s extremely fucked over by the nightcourt, his lands and court burned to shit, he still saves rhysand. Saves rhysand and tells feyre to be happy, even when he has every reason to NOT do that!

Hes a character that clearly holds himself to a higher standard. throughout acotar he puts lucien and feyres safety above his own, even sending feyre away when she was the only one who could save him. Even though what he did to her wasnt great its not completely irredeemable, rhysand did much worse things to feyre and other people but hes living his best life while Tamlin seems to find himself unworthy of being a person (acosf wheres hes been in beast form for roughly over two years) hes a perfectionist who now doesnt even think he deserves anyone because he accidentally hurt the people he loves most.

Sjm accidentally created a beautifully rich and morally righteous character who is so extremely fucked by the narrative. Which doesnt even work half the time as sjm cant seemingly commit to making him a full villain (seemingly by accident again she gave him quite a reasonable explanation to everything he did ‘wrong’ but still chooses to make him a punching bag)

If Tamlin was genuinely a morally evil character he wouldnt have NEARLY the amount of fans as he does. Hes a character that requires the minimum amount of media literacy and comprehension to understand and i LOVE him.

My Opinion On Every Single Bungou Stray Dogs Ship

Part One- Het Ships I

If you’ve followed me on Tumblr or Instagram for any amount of time you will have heard me trash talk certain ships (and shippers), and also have heard me say stuff like “I don’t really like any of the popular ships” “I don’t care about most ships from this fandom”. But ever want to know what I truly think of them? Probably not. In this series, I will be going through the list of ships on the Wiki and giving a detailed opinion on each and every one. Yes, even the crazy ass ones like Atsushi x Chazuke. I’ll be going in the order that is on the website.

Akipoe/ Akiko Yosano x Edgar Allen Poe: This is a ship? I haven’t heard about it in the nearly four years I’ve been around this fandom. Okay. It’s weird because it’s like someone took the two most popular people to ship Ranpo with and then took him out of the equation. It’s giving no purpose but to be random. Even in an ot3 it would be dumb, but let me hold off on that because that’s for a different ship opinion. They never interact in canon, but I think they’d be chill with each other since they have a mutual friend. But they wouldn’t be anything more than acquaintances. 1.25/10

Akuhigu/ Ryuunosuke Akutagawa x Ichiyo Higuchi: As much as one member of this ship ships it, I will never be able to ship it. It’s not healthy. #higuchideservesbetter Maybe in a canon divergent scenario… but even then I don’t think they’d work. I don’t believe in the “total opposites attract” theory. I hope Asagiri doesn’t decide to do that thing some writers do, where they seemingly get tired of their work and at the end, just go “this character likes this other character, even though it was always one-sided, let’s make it happen and they get together at the very end in the ‘epilogue’ that shows where they are a few years later”. 0/10

Akukyou/ Ryuunosuke Akutagawa x Kyouka Izumi: The only reason I know this ship exists is because when I first watched BSD I was scrolling through someone’s account and she mentioned a year back (2019) she shipped this years before (2016) and then questioned her past self’s sanity. The people who ship this are 14-year-old girls who like Akutagawa and are using Kyouka as a self insert. -2.5/10

Akulucy/ Ryuunosuke Akutagawa x Lucy Maud Montgomery: I’m also surprised this is a thing. I saw some fanart of these two in a romantic context a few years ago because the Japanese VAs for the characters married each other, but I haven’t heard of this as a legitimate ship. But I have seen more ot3 art with Atsushi. Now that I think about it… these two aren’t half bad as a ship, as random as it may seem. I’m looking some stuff up of them, and I think they have enough similarities and differences that they could work. But Lucy does have a crush on Atsushi. It’s a good thing BSD ain’t a romance anime otherwise this could turn love-triangley real fast. EDIT: I have been won over and am now an Akulucy shipper. Second score is my new ranking. 5/10 8/10

Amasawa/ Tatsuhiko Shibusawa x Agatha Christie: I’m also surprised this is a ship. But maybe it’s not that unusual since they’re both characters from Dead Apple. Still really random though. There’s not any basis for it. Also, wouldn’t this be called Agasawa? 1/10

Angomura/ Ango Sakaguchi x Mizuki Tsujimura: This is probably less random if one has read the Another Story light novel, at least that’s what I’m assuming. I have not read it and so I do not know anything about Tsujimura that was not in Dead Apple (so nothing). I don’t feel qualified enough to rank this because of that. -/10

Atsuhigu/ Atsushi Nakajima x Ichiyo Higuchi: This ship reads like it was created by someone who does not ship Akuhigu but thinks it’s going to be canon, but they don’t like Akutagawa while they do like Atsushi, so they went “I want Atsushi to steal his girl!” If that’s not the case, I don’t know how this was created. They met once and Higuchi insulted Atsushi’s looks 💀 Personality wise I think they’d get along. I don’t see it romantically though. 2.5/10

Atsugin/ Atsushi Nakajima x Gin Akutagawa: This ship makes me teehee evilly. “I ship Atsushi x Akutagawa!” “Atsushi and Akutagawa are going to end up together!” Alright well, be careful what you wish for 😈 If there’s a bit of build up later on and it’s not out of the blue, I would LOVE to see Asagiri go “aight, bet” and make them end up together at the very end of the series. I would bathe in the tears of SSKK shippers as I laugh. Despite all that, I don’t exactly ship this. It would be kinda funny in universe too. But I don’t think they’d work. We don’t know enough about Gin though, so I can’t say I like or dislike this until we get to see her a little more. 3/10

Me watching everyone else if there ends up being some build up to the ship and it becomes canon

Atsukyou/ Atsushi Nakajima x Kyouka Izumi: The way this ship gets completely overlooked makes me not fw y’all even more. The age gap is big AT THE MOMENT. Four years won’t be a lot in just a few years. If you want a ship to be endgame, you want them together for life, and if you live to be 80 years old, for the majority of your life a four year age gap is nothing. Stop thinking of the present and look to the future! Plan ahead! Kyouka does not view Atsushi as a brother she has a crush on him her feelings are literally paralleled to Lucy’s! WAKE UP PEOPLE. Even if you don’t ship them when they’re a little older ADMIT THE TRUTH. THERE’S AN ENTIRE SPREAD DEDICATED TO THEM LOOKING AT EACH OTHER’S EYES WHEN THEY FIRST MEET. The anime adapted it so that everything was blacked out in the background and cherry blossoms were floating through the air! That’s totally what happens when future adoptive siblings meet 🙄Totally. Totally. AAAAHHHHHH. Anyways, they’ll be great together and this is really the only ship I have in this series and because I don’t want them with each other until they’re older it’s not even a current ship but a future ship. 10/10

Atsulucy/ Atsushi Nakajima x Lucy Maud Montgomery: They’re cute together but they wouldn’t work long term. I don’t know how to explain it. If someone else does feel free to add. I do like seeing some (some) of the content people make for this. But at the end of the day, it’s just not it. I don’t know what it is that, even seeing how they’re cute and could work short term, I still don’t have feelings for this ship. My heart is not in it. Maybe it’s because I don’t like the tsundere trope, even if it makes sense in Lucy’s case since she was mad at him for forgetting her after she saved him. 4/10

Atsuteru/ Atsushi Nakajima x Teruko Okura: Why is Atsushi getting all the ladies, what’s happening here? I didn’t know about half of these ships. Do people actually ship this? Probably not anymore after finding out she’s literally twelve 💀Hey, for the majority of your life a six year— oh that’s right, twelve years is her life’s majority. Oh well, better luck next time to anyone who shipped this. Although why you would based off what their limited interactions were 🤷🏽‍♀️ -1/10 EDIT: I saw that there was a translation error that made it seem like she was 12 years old but actually she was 12 when Fukuchi found her, which we don’t know the exact date because it said after the War, and the timeline is a little messy. But I do assume she’s an adult now, even if we don’t know how many years ago she was 12. (Asagiri please bring back the character info sheets 🙏🏽)

Atsuwells/ Atsushi Nakajima x Herbert George Wells: Her name is NOT Herbert George… is it? Herberta Georgia? Asagiri we need answers. Also I imagined her as being 28, but we don’t have a canon age. Maybe as a future ship this could work? If only we knew more of her character. I can’t say one way or the other about this, but I hope Wells shows up again. 2.5/10
