If toby was in the pilot what would he do?

so toby actually is set to arrive after pomni, but if he was in the pilot, he would already be used to the circus and caine’s shenanigans...

i imagine we wouldn’t see him a lot because he generally keeps out of the younger people’s business and hangs out with kinger... but i would be wrong because jax loves to bother him and he would drag him along to see kaufmo.

he wouldn’t pull ragatha’s hand because he first tried to when the first abstraction happened and it didn’t end well for him... and we would see a more protective side of him, trying to get pomni away from the abstracted kaufmo.

and he would be more accepting and just generally nice towards gangle because she hangs around kinger often. they’d be kind of a trio.

“Old Kinger over there supposedly’s been here the longest. That’s why he’s craaazy!” Jax laughs.

“And Jax arrived shortly after,” Toby adds, “which is why he is so annoying and immature.”

Jax grins. “Love you too, Explosivo.”

“Okay, Kaufmo’s... been abstracted...” Ragatha panics. “That’s fine...”

“Fine?” Toby is both outraged and rightfully shocked. “This is the second time this has happened!”

“Only second time you’ve seen,” Ragatha utters through a yelp.

“WHAT??” Pomni does not take it as good as the duck.

“Pomni, run,” Toby says.

“But I-”

“RUN!”

“Kaufmo’s-”

“Fine,” Jax interjects as Toby catches up to him. “He’s fine.”

“Oh, I’m so glad,” Kinger’s eyes crinkle as if in a smile. “It’s good to know he hasn’t completely lost his mind.”

“But-”

Jax bends down to Toby’s level, eyes meeting his.

“Let’s not break Kinger’s heart, old man.” His whispered tone is gravely serious for him. “You wouldn’t want that.”

Toby glares at Jax, but backs away nonetheless.

haha i love this question but i'd have to hand it over to zooble. toby still has some of the sophistication he had in the the real world and, for the most part, restrains himself from swearing as much. zooble has a sailor's mouth though. i trust they'd break toby's records.

At the moment he'd be surprised, then absolutely shocked. Just to not ruin the atmosphere he'd try to walk it off and make jokes about how: [in a girly voice] "I'm a beautiful young lady, who will get married to a rich, rich man! This bouquet is proof, see?"

He'd try to keep his composure during the entirety of the wedding; joking around with his loved ones, but putting up a formal, elegant and serious stance with all the other guests and the groom and bride.

In the evening, after the event, getting back home he'd just... lock himself in his room.

He'd place the flowers in a vase with some water, hoping they don't die the next day, and then let himself fall on the bed flat on his back and just blankly stare at the ceiling. And quietly shed a tear or two.

When sneaking out over to the maple tree that night, he'll bring the bouquet with him.
