A piece of folklore from my tiny shitty Finnish hometown:

There was a shoemaker who refused to give a religious man a place to sleep. The religious man told the shoemaker that because of his refusal to help, he himself will travel the world as a spirit with no one to give him a bed to sleep in.

The shoemaker, now a spirit, wandered around the Shitty Finnish Town and told a group of people his life story. The people basically told him "yeah go to Hell for all we care, we don't want you here". The spirit answered that Hell won't accept him. Then he was told to go to a religious gathering, maybe the people there could help.

In the gathering he was told to go to Heaven, as he was a spiritual being. At the gates of Heaven, Saint Peter asked him who he was.

The Spirit told him. He was known by many names; the Shoemaker, the Devil, the Man from Shitty Finnish Town. Saint Peter answered that he couldn't get to Heaven, since his name was not in the book of life, and therefore he was doomed to walk the earth as The Man from Shitty Finnish Town.
