“Is there someone you hold dear?” teen verse not koto asking in the most awkward tone ever

❝WHAT KINDA QUESTION IS that to randomly ask someone?❞ Here they were, sitting here at this nice ramen stand and enjoying a delicious bowl, when out of nowhere, Koto brought this up. He knew that she had a tendency to just ask questions on the fly, but even still, what had brought this up? He did wish she would give some kind of warning ahead of time that she’d be trying to delve into his mind and know its secrets. ❝Well I mean, I hold my family dear. Those headaches back at the academy too, I guess. Don’t tell them I said that, though. They’ll just be annoying about it.❞ He grimaced at the very thought, scooping up some of his noodles and blowing on it softly. Nanami could already imagine a certain trio grinning ear from ear and teasing him relentlessly. At least Haibara wouldn’t be so bad. ❝A certain chatty girl from another school falls into that too.❞ Nanami didn’t glance at Koto as he slurped up his noodles, allowing that wonderful taste to merely exist before he chewed and swallowed it all down. He didn’t need to look at her to know those citrine eyes had lit up with joy.

Valor was late.

He hadn't even come at all the last time Lord Belos had left the manor for a full day, and today he wasted half the day lying in bed, staring up at the ceiling, debating whether or not he should skip out on today, too.

It was only his promise to keep returning that got him up out of bed.

When he got there, he stared at the fabric-covered tablet for a long moment. Moving his arm felt like fighting against a current, but eventually, he managed to grasp the fabric and pull it down, revealing the Collector's disk beneath.

It was only after that that he took his mask off, and that revealed an extremely tired face, with his normally bright magenta eyes duller than the Collector had ever seen them before.

A long standing head-canon I had is that Goro & Vaughn hated Valentine's Day, they actively avoided it for many years before meeting each other. That since changed in the 6 years they have been together. Vaughn is very much a lovey dovey dude, and his biggest love language is touch and affection, and while you should celebrate that every single day with your partner, they both enjoy these special occasion moments now as well. Goro is always making sure that Vaughn knows just how loved and appreciated he is. <3

I realized I had forgotten to swatch for the button hole before starting the second sleeve. And an Hour later I have a swatch with 8 button holes before I got happy with how they look. The pattern basically says "make buttonhole" and I'm not experienced enough with garment knitting to go on just that.

I did manage to confirm that despite sizing up my yarn, I'm still going to need 1 inch/25mm buttons. I don't currently have 6 matching 25mm buttons that would look good with this yarn, so decisions have to be made. And unfortunately my brain has decided the best possible button would be a rose gold coloured shank back(?) button preferably that looks like an actual flower. Which, good luck to me for finding that relatively affordably.

I think I'm just going to knit the cardigan and decide once it's all sewn up. If it fits well and I think I'll wear it, I'll spend the money to get Nice buttons.

thinking still about how the Heart calls the Whalers 'puppets' and the amount of mystery there is around them, when playing as Corvo and perceiving them through the Heart, in comparison to how they are in reality.

we see them talk to each other in a manner any people would. they consider insubordination, they talk badly of Daud behind his back, we have Billie betray him. there are some that are loyal, yes, be it because they believe in Daud or because they see gain in this path, but by no means are they a monolyth.

however, we do hear from the Heart about a 'fog that surrounds them and hides their secrets' and it is even confirmed, by Billie (and also Galia in the books) that leaving Daud made them 'think clearly for the first time in years'

I've seen a couple theories and I do want to dive into each, to an extent.

there's the suggestion of the Heart talking badly of them, calling them mindless drones that only kill out of hatred and hurt. which, valid. the Heart also says certain things about Daud, 'why did you bring me here? do you expect me to forgive him?', so it's not unlikely that their attitude towards human lives and their willingness to kill for Daud is repulsive enough that the Heart does not see past it

another option is that the mindless puppets is more of a metaphor and is meant to talk about how the Whalers are, in a sense, a cult. which would be incredibly interesting to explore if we had more information on how the Whalers function. now I do want to point out that by cult I do not mean it in a Secluded Religious Organization but as a sociological thing. a literal cult if you will, with a leader that charms their followers, the seclusion and all the unhealthy attitudes of losing oneself to the group. and, that does check out - the loss of individuality, they are as one, following someone's orders without hesitation, someone they would die for. there are a lot of unsavory implications here (if you know how cults work, you probably had some cross your mind already), but arguably Daud is not charming enough to be a proper cult leader. the appeal is the magic, and his excellent skills as an assassin and a leader. maybe it's because of the time we see the Whalers at, right before a collapse, but Daud is regularly doubted and we see a lot of insubordination. the Whalers are not necessarily loyal to him because of who he is as a person. they want the power, they want the influence, maybe the protection, and the things keeping them from disobeying are fear, rather than loyalty.

the third thought or theory is, then, that many of these symptoms can be explained by the influence of the Void. we know the Void affects people, both physically as we see with Delilah's Witches or the Eyeless, as it influences them mentally, if the high numbers of people going mad because of their worship are something to go by. if, then, the Whalers are bound to the Void through Daud, it only makes sense that they would be influenced by this link to something that messes with people's brains. Galia saying she feels better after her Arcane Bond faded could easily mean that the influence the Void had on her has faded, and the creeping madness of it has subsided significantly.

all of these most likely come into play. one of the Heart's lines in dh2, if we point at a Witch, is reciting some of the recipes the Witches chant before quickly apologising. we do learn significantly more about them than we do about the Whalers, of course, possibly because Jessamine has more ill will towards the Whalers than to the Witches. still we see the Void affect the Heart. there is also a notion that the Witches are 'not quite human' due to their Arcane bond.

there's no real conclusion. it's just interesting

The Sabotage of Jimin?!

Can some of the OG Armies who understand not only the fandom side of BTS but also the business side of Bighit/Hybe weigh in on the overt and covert sabotage of Jimin’s album and provide your perspective on why Jimin has not been treated fairly or at least equal to other member’s releases. I was one of the people defending the notion their was no blatant sabotage against Jimin last year regarding Face. But that egg was definitely thrown in my face with the fan meet set and Jimin’s new album release.

The ridiculous set they provided for Jimin’s PAID fanmeet last year was the straw that broke my back (erroneous viewpoint). The actions of this Geffen senior VP, just took the cake on how overtly they are sabotaging Jimin. If he would blatantly disrespect their artist Jimin and paying customers, what are they doing behind the scenes? Not only to Jimin, but the other members and BTS as a group?

Some of the reasons are obvious, they don’t want one of the biggest acts/artists in the world to overshadow Western artists. I mean we even had Simon Cowell recently state he needs to produce another boyband, because no one has ever come close to New Direction or their records….really man! 🤯

Is another reason Jimin’s subject matter? Which in some minds, could negatively impact BTS and their comeback next year? What I find interesting is how Taemin called out the overse*ualizstion of young artist in the industry with his last single under SM entertainment and then promptly left the label. I remember in one of Tae’s last lives he played a song by Honne that Jimin recommended to him. At first I thought why would Tae expose Jimin like that, but it was clearly by design from both of them.and the song expressed exasperation of being in/dealing with the music industry.

I would love a discussion in the comments and with detailed posts addressing this matter. What more can we do besides stream and purchase? I was not an Army when the fandom would mobilize. Unfortunately, all I see is a fractured Army since I became one (Jan 2023).

NANAMI WISHED THAT KOTO wasn’t so reckless. He was glad that she was able to protect his family, yet even so, she had put herself in harm’s way against a curse that could have been deadly to someone of her sorcerer rank. How she managed to defeat it was anyone’s guess. However, he knew of how determined she was – of how she would fight and fight until she couldn’t anymore. Even if the situation looked bleak, she still had a way of turning things around into her direction in a way he couldn’t quite understand. ❝Cut that out,❞ Nanami finally spoke, reaching up to take Koto’s hands from his shoulders. He held them gently, but there was still a sense of firmness in his hold. ❝My family is fine. You, on the other hand, aren’t. They were already aware that I, eventually, wouldn’t be coming around as much.❞ After all, being a sorcerer was dangerous work. He never told them what he did at Jujutsu High, opting to let them believe it was some special high school (not a total lie), but he should have kept his distance when he realized the kind of work he would be doing there.

     That curse sniffing around was his fault.

     There could be no other reason for its appearance aside from it being curious of the tendrils of cursed energy that lingered around the place. Releasing Koto’s wrists, he huffed quietly when those same hands came to press against his cheeks, no doubt making him look ridiculous. He was trying to be serious here, Koto. Could you maybe pay attention to his words, please? ❝A little too late for that, I think, Koto.❞ Mixing up with the wrong crowd… He might as well be, considering. Their whole profession meant they might as well keep their distance from normal people for the most part anyway.

Lord Belos was gone for the day. And Valor was done with today's training, and while he really shouldn't be slacking on his individual studies . . . Well, he could always catch up on those. He couldn't always visit his new friend.

He gathered some books before he left. Things he'd bought when returning from previous missions. A children's book, fictional. A field guide to different beasts of the Boiling Isles. A nature magazine that showed pictures of various different environments across the Isles. And a stand, so he could put the Collector's disk on the windowsill without having to hold it the entire time. Hmmmm . . . yes, he'd take one of his bug jars with, too. And of course he brought a notebook and pen to write notes down in. He placed these all carefully into a bag that he slung over his shoulder, looked outside to make sure no one was watching, and circled around on his staff to the window he knew connected to the room the Collector was kept in.

It had been weeks, almost a month, since Valor's first encounter with the strange child in the rooms he was forbidden to enter. But today was the first day he'd found the time to return. He peeked into the room first, making sure this Philip guy the Collector had mentioned wasn't there, and once that was confirmed, he swooped in the rest of the way.

[If you're not taking anons about this just ignore this ~<3] completely agree about Dorothy, especially her having insecurities about being seen as masculine and how she voices it during the show so many times. I always headcanoned it as a big reason she never addressed her sexuality; when people aren't calling her an ugly man they're saying she's a lesbian directly because of certain traits and features she has, it makes sense she'd reject that part of herself because its tied to decades of painful remarks on top of everything else. And I do think it could be genuinely triggering for her to be expected to be masculine or want to perform certain acts in that sense - the idea that even someone who seems to understand her and want her and love still doesn't see her as a woman. Ofc those things aren't tied together in reality but you could make a solid case for why they would be to Dorothy.

10/10 no notes honestly (and omg nooo !!! ask away always always <33) butttt you mentioned something I hadn’t thought of before so I must talk about it!!!; the topic of her sexuality also being upsetting for this reason. holy, you are right on the money I think. Even now, when lots of people think of the word lesbian we have been taught to think of masculine traits. I cannot imagine what it was like then - if now we’ve come so far, & yet….

This makes me think of Jean, Dorothy’s (arguably life long, I mean - since college??!! quite the strong bond they’ve got) friend. She doesn’t present “stereotypically lesbian” at all. She’s like textbook femme!! I wonder if how big of a part she’s played in Dorothy’s life has anything to do with that. I wonder if she envy’s her? Because here’s jean, an open, & proud lesbian. Whom you’d never suspect because “she could have any man she wants?!” - and then there’s Dorothy. Tall, broad shoulders, “manly hips” (among many, many other cruel insults - I actually really hate hate hate the pearls or chain scene a lot.) Dorothy. Whom everyone automatically assumes is a lesbian - but never for the right or respectful reasons? It’s always used on her as an insult or to further push on her insecurities ??!! like Jesus. Makes sense she’d never want to uncover that. Also makes me want to headcanon her being unlabelled too instead of using strong labels - I’m getting the vibe now that she kind of just ?? wants to love & be loved ?? like deep down she’d know that she’s strictly into women and what that means / labels it comes with but tbh? labels might be upsetting for her also. Especially when they’ve been used to hurt and bash her for so many years. many thoughts …

I really do NOT fuck with all those scenes where they gang up on Dorothy like I really cannot express it enough, no wonder it began to actually affect Bea in real life to the point she chose to leave because of it (among other reasons yes I know, but when I saw that this was one I just about cried)

Anyway, just makes me think about Dorothy thinking about how jean does it. The jealousy, the angst potential, all that good stuff.

I also have to comment on - YES. Yes yes yes !!! I also agree that it is gen triggering for her to be expected to be masculine / seen that way / dress that way / etc etc etc !!!!! constant bullying will do that to you !!!!!
