My personal take on what I think Kanako would've looked like had she gotten to grow up. The game implies she takes after Chujin so I tried getting that across. I think she'd be kind of a tomboyish nerd. She's very close to Martlet and Starlo (and her mom of course) She loves tinkering and is still really into comics and video games, She sometimes plays along in the wild east or helps with the mission machines.

okay so. jack! jack. what a collection of guys. the overlap between jack and the beanstalk and jack the giant killer, though. that sure is something! sometimes king arthur is there, which always takes me by surprise.

this. specifically. is an idea I've been kicking around. jack and the beanstalk is not a story I've ever enjoyed, as a kid it was probably my least favorite to read. as an adult, I was INTENSELY fascinated by reading j.g. ballard's the drowned giant. I think about it frequently, and somewhere during a re read of it, I ended up revisiting jack.

combining different versions of jack into one character is not a new concept, but it IS a fun one! the version I've been assembling together plays less with the fun elements of a jack story (and adjacent folklore stories), and focuses more on the potential for tragic elements with the addition of the usual grim and jagged narrative edges that I personally enjoy.

jack with the backstory of the devil and the three golden hairs, only jack doesn't find love, he's TIRED, all he wants to do is go home, but there isn't a home to go back to. what is the point of being born lucky if this is what it gets you? jack the giant killer, only he doesn't want to kill giants, jack who saw a body of a giant when he was a small child and cannot bring himself to do as a king commands. jack, who climbs up the beanstalk and stops halfway to look down. etc.

to go back to the drowned giant real quick, both to set the tone about jack seeing the body of a giant as a youth, and also because I've been haunted and obsessed with this excerpt of it ever since I read it:

I kind of wonder how being trans would work in the Ever After High universe with destinies and all.

Let's say you're the daughter of Snow White, but surprise!! Egg cracked, you're trans. You're actually the SON of Snow White now.

Does this kids destiny change from Snow White to Snow White's destined true love? Or would "Snow White" just be a prince this time around and maybe a princess (or another prince!) saves him with True Loves Kiss???

I mean, we have examples of kids genders not exactly matching up with their fairytale parents like Alistair, Maddie, Melody, Jillian, Cedar, Bunny and I think some others.

I have a theory that in their stories their gender doesn't exactly..say, matter as much as, for example, the Queen of Hearts, her title is literally the queen, if Lizzie was a boy would she just be the King of Hearts (the queens husband)? Or would she be "King" but still have the same role to play as the queen?

When vs a character like Alice, it doesn't really matter as anyone can just fall down a hole and go through a strange land regardless of gender.

How much does your agab really matter in this society? Also say you figured it out after you had already signed your name in the storybook, would you need to sign it again if you chose a new name?

Edit because I had more thoughts: My previously stated theory came from the idea that characters like Alistair, Cedar and essentially the entire crew minus Lizzie, I believe their genders can be different and still inherit their stories is because TECHNICALLY within their stories they don't have love interests, when off book and later in their lives they most likely did to be able to have children. If say Alice did have a boy she fell in love with what if Alistair ended up being that hypothetical boy?

When Snow White DOES have a love interest, and I wonder if that's why it might matter a little more.

Long story short: This society is very heteronormative and probably cis normative as well and goddamnit do I wish we actually had a trans character to go off of.

OR what if a character was from a very #girlboss story and was a trans guy? Can his story even continue because he's not a girl anymore? Or would his story just change to reflect him better.

We have canonical evidence of Hunter and Ashlynn hypothetically changing their story so the same message is still in place, it just fits their particular love story better. So I wonder if the system would have something in place like that for trans characters. (Keep in mind I'm not too sure on how canon the doll diaries are so take that with a grain of salt. It's from Farrah's btw if you're curious)

Nana in Princess Daphne's drip from Dragon's Lair because I think it is one hell of a look especially for a princess character.

She can bust out at any time though (she's strong as hell), she's just doing this for fun (or at least until Jack pops up)

signalis' worldbuilding is so good that i actually figured out elster's backstory and a lot about her original pattern just by spending a bunch of time living with her throughout the story

my first playthrough i decided not to read the classified document about the nature of an elster unit, and i was talkign to somebody on discord who had read it, and i was talking about how i'm prtty sure elster based off the pattern of a soldier and they all had severe ptsd and couldn't get along well with anybody and that's why they're all chosen for these sorta space missions, because they're meant to be practically alone for long stretches of time, and they need somebody who can handle that sort of pressure for a long time, and he was just like, "and you're telling me you haven't read the document?"

i've still only played through the game once and i haven't done any extra reading on it so i'm not totally privvy to all the information, but i also have a theory that a big part of the reason arianne was chosen for the penrose mission was because she was a problematic person who didn't really mesh well with the society the eusan nation had built so they wanted a practical way to send her away lest she cause problems

the particular tang of heartache that is jason todd, standing across the rooftop in his red hood gear, looking at batman and thinking, i don't recognize this man at all.

jason looking at this man who used to be like a father to him, and not being able to reconcile the safety of his memories to the angry shell of a man before him now. jason wondering if the bruce he knew died along with the scared kid that never came back from ethiopia.
