Jereth & Sarah's Relationship

Jareth demonstrates an over-riding need to dominate Sarah. This is because he's in love with her and desires a queen at his side. Unfortunately, Jareth's idea of love is Sarah fearing, submitting and doing everything he says. Thus, he's determined to make her bend to his will through intimidation and materialism. However, Sarah never expresses any interest in Jareth. Instead, she realizes his "love" is abuse, everything he has to offer is fake and it ultimately means nothing compared to her loved one. As a result, Sarah rejects him multiple times. Now devastated by her rejection and defeat, Jareth accepts Sarah's need to take her own path. In which, he allows her to return to her own world. By doing so, it proves his feelings are genuine, but he doesn’t know what true love is or how to properly express his emotions.
