husky. my muse reacting to your whispering in their air from behind.
          In between war preparations and Commissions she took on even outside of it all, Lumine felt utterly exhausted. Sure she was more than happy to do her part, especially with the threat of the Abyss Order ever-looming, but still…ahh, times like this, she was glad at least one thing had gone right. But even then...
          Lumine froze, shaking their head to dash the thought, before pressing forward in the dark wood.
          Ahh, no. No, she was not about to dwell on his betrayal now. He...he had already begun to enact his restitution. Right! They were...on more tenuous terms now than before, sure, but at least things were better. At least he wasn't her enemy, or anything.
          Right. Things could be worse.
          Like...the fact that they definitely should have paid heed and brought a proper torch along with them on patrol, rather than relying simply on Diluc's palm-flame trick to light their way. Ugh, but they couldn't manage a larger flame like he could, not with their lack of practice. Not that that had been a worry when Lumine had first set out, they could have sworn it wouldn't have been this dark, cloudy night, or not!
          At the rate she was going, she was likely to end up ambushed–
          A sharp squeak burst from Lumine as a strong arm suddenly wrapped around her, yanking her back against something firm.
          Someone's body, she realized.
          The thought sent a surge of panic and indignance as their own tensed to fight–
          "Dont. Move."
          –only to freeze right in place, heart stuttering in heavier thuds as That Voice registered.
          Had it been anybody else, she wouldn't have stopped herself from outright treating the other to a nice, merciless Starfell Sword.
          But him...him, he–
          "Y...you...!"
          The words ( winded from surprise, she'd swear ) died right on her tongue. The abrupt dose and still of the adrenaline from before left her hyper-aware, made all the worse by her dimmer vision, with the flame she'd maintained extinguished.
          And, Archons, his embrace.
          His firm hold on her never once eased as he seemed to pull her closer, far more secure. Gentler than he had before, though she couldn't tell for the life of her if that had been any better, or in fact worse on her.
          Because like this, pressed so closely to him, she could almost feel the very planes of muscle beneath his coat. Could definitely feel every gentle swell of his chest, with each and every breath he took. Breath that would slowly furl across her skin, tickling against her ear as goosebumps spread in its wake. Like this, utterly enveloped by him, it was enough for his scent to linger and flood her senses, as she drew a shaky breath of her own.
          The iron tang of blood had never been a pleasant scent, but intermingled with that of spider lilies and a subtler hint of a smokier note, no doubt from the forges...fuck, it may as well be intoxicating. Enough to make her legs feel damn near more like the mint jelly she'd eaten not long ago, even while being held by him. Especially while being held by him.
          As though hearing his words all practically crooned right in her ear didn't do that already.
          Lumine's mouth opened and closed, once, twice, as a trembling hand moved to grip his forearm. To hold him right in place, in feeling the slightest movement as though he'd begun to pull away. To steady herself and try to pull some semblance of composure, try and regain her voice, and stop making a damn fool of herself in front of him now-
          "Wh-why are you–?"
          "Cliff," came the rather stiff explanation, a subtle movement of his head as though he'd nodded to it. "Didn't...think you'd need me to watch over you all over again. Be careful."
          Their lower lip trembled.
          Every new, sterner word whispered low against their ear sent a surge prickling through their nerves, little shivers crawling down their spine even while practically shielded from the night air in his grasp, as they strove to keep still. Keep still, not press back and arch against him in search of that low, rasping voice. In search of him, to satiate their growing want-
          Fuck. Not the time. Not the time for that–
          A soft hum in acknowledgement might have come out a lot more strained than intended. If he happened to have noticed ( he stilled, fuck, he'd stilled just a moment there, hadn't he– ), well...Lumine might now have second thoughts after heeding his warning and backing away from that cliff now. If only he'd just let go.
          Do you really want that though-
          "Come on. That Outrider dropped something off for you."
          Lumine's lips pursed tight, tensing then releasing a breath they hadn't realized they'd been holding as he in turn let them go and pulled away. Their own arms wrapped around themself as they turned at the sound of his retreating footsteps, a feeble imitation compared to what he'd given them.
          Ugh, why did he have to do that...!
          Her eyes lingered on him, inhaling slowly as her gaze traced over him. Over that built frame, his arms as one would swing with every step he took, the other at a tight grip to the hilt of his sword.
          An exhale, then she shook her head, and hastily started after him.
                          Archons above, you are going to kill me, Yingxing.

          “–then we just need to carefully turn the dial here to expose the Pyro and Electro components to each other, and…!”
         Danae grimaced as the soft clicks registered, shaking out the slight tremor in her free hand.
         The last time she’d tried this, the whole thing had blown up in her face and caused a nasty slew of injuries she’d nearly been permanently blinded by. Which had only been avoided by a prompt trip to Durene, who upon healing her had elected to make Danae’s life utterly miserable for the next hour with the ensuing lecture. And considering she couldn’t even speak, that had been a feat in and of itself. She would have almost preferred getting verbal nagged than dealing with the extra impact Durene’s facial expression gave her signing.
         Almost.
        Now, one would think wanting to avoid such a thing would discourage Danae from trying again. If not wanting to avoid the scolding, then in not wanting to face agony and risk permanent injury should the healer not get to her soon enough this time. Most anyone would. But anyone who knew her well would also damn well know she only only ever took such things as a challenge rather than anything cautionary.
        She feared no monster nor god, so why should Durene be any different?
        That said, if she did happen to keep the device at a safer distance away from her face this go around, it was purely out of practicality.
        Still…hubris aside, having to go back to Durene for help if the reaction repeated ( especially if it resulted worse, considering the changes she'd made since then ), more so after specifically being told not to ever try this again still added a lot more pressure now. Especially since the woman would surely be so damn glad for the opportunity to gloat about how right she was. And having bear Durene’s all-too expressive face and stupid little name sign once she saw the thermal and electrical burns again would definitely make the matter all the more humiliating, too–
         “Oh…!”
         Danae’s eyes flashed open as an odd sensation suddenly thrummed ( Odd, odd, was it painful? No, that wasn’t it- ) through her body, concentrated at her hand where she held the device. Thrummed along her frayed nerves and burrowed deep into her sore muscles.
         Her lips parted in surprise as she swayed in place, brain trying to place just what it was she was percieving. Hand trembling in the wake of and direct contact to such a sensation, her grip on the device slackened a slight, even while the other tried to steady it. “Wh-what'n th–?”
          Luckily, a deft pair of hands managed to cup it beneath hers, preventing it from falling to the floor and shatter. Even while her hands had instinctively gripped the thing tighter–
          “Morcant?”
          The name and the growing uncomfortable buzz under Danae’s skin where they touched had her fully snapping out of her haze, jerking back and holding her device closer to her chest. Perhaps a bad idea, considering how volatile the last one had been and the particular composition of this one, but– “M'fine.”
          Da-Lun raised a brow but raised his hands placatingly and backed away all the same.  “I thought it yet another adverse reaction. Though different from the last, I didn’t want it to break, so–”
          “Well, you thought wrong,” she hissed, fingers moving the scratch at the still-tingling skin. “Wait for the damn thing to leave my hand before makin’ a grab for it. Got it? Or need I drill it into yer fucking skull?”
          The man huffed out a breath, but nodded curtly. “Understood.”
          “Good.” Even decently satisfied with his response, Danae still couldn’t help pressing her nails into the ebbing tingling on her skin to ease it. Though…huh, usually that feeling took longer to go away–
         “So what was it then?”
         Danae turned to glance over at Ozzy, the man idly tapping his pen against the parchment as he tilted his head. Wait, not idly.
         You look like an idiot, the pattern read, when he'd repeated it. Calm down.
         "Tch." Biting back an otherwise snarled retort, Danae rolled her eyes. And realized she’d been slumping against the work bench, straightening up immediately with a sharp jerk. Fuck, when had she lowered her guard like that–? “It–works.”
         “I know it does, sweetheart,” Ozzy remarked, an insufferable, amused grin at his lips. He gestured a slight with the pen. “I could see the tension leave your body an' you gasping instead a' howling in agony or gettin’ crispied like I was hopin’–"
          ”We made a bet on its success,“ Da-Lun explained, ”I, in your favor, of course," as if that made it any better–
           ”–so clearly it must work as intended. Or at least, to your insatiable standards.” Ozzy snickered, rather amused in spite ( or perhaps because ) of her glare as he added, “I was curious as t'just how much so had it. Since it got you of all people to relax like that.”
           Danae glanced down at the device–fuck, she was slumping again, curled around it too, what the hell–
          “It doesn’t…!” She hesitated.
          “Tell us honestly, now, sweetheart,” Ozzy chided. He offered another stupid grin as he waved the pen. “If not for me, then for your results. You care about those, at least, don’t you?”
          Danae pursed her lips.
          …ah, she couldn't argue with that. Or him, as much as she'd want to. She had to ensure the necessary observations were recorded, after all. Embarrassing as her reaction was though–
          “It doesn’t make the pain go away completely,” she admitted, sighing as her favorite sound of scratches of quilltip on parchment began to fill the air. The sounds added to the otherwise quiet of the room, the hum of the device, the dimmer lights save the lamp at her bench behind her...oh, that was nice. So nice; she almost felt tempted to lean back and close her eyes to indulge in it all. Almost–
          “I can still feel it," she continued, drumming her tingling fingers on the iron casing. "S'no magic cure-all or anything, it’s just…compared to how I usually feel, it’s…it’s…” Dammit, how did she explain this- “It–I feel lighter? Nicer??? Like it...it–”
          “Makes the flare ups tolerable?” Da-Lun supplied gently.
          She narrowed her eyes a slight.
          No mocking. No teasing. Simply aiding her to find the right words. Huh...
          “Yeah...that.” She carefully moved to press the device against her hip, sliding it further along her bad leg. And promptly let out a soft sigh as she gingerly stretched the limb out. “Note, closer contact to the more sensitive areas provides a far more effective use of the…th'–” Fuck, wait, why’d she say that? That gave too much away, too much that was highly exploitable, if the odd look on Da-Lun's face was any indication–
          “Maiden’s Solace?” Ozzy offered, pausing to look up.
          Danae’s mouth opened and closed, once, twice, before her lips pressed into a fine line.
          He didn't go for mocking, either. Nor seem to have any apparent intents to take advantage of said fact, if his lack of reaction was any tell. Which was odd, because she would have figured he would keep more of an ear out for such things than Da-Lun. No, the only real problem she had with Ozzy piping up with his little suggestion now was–
          “M'not a maiden,” she remarked, wrinkling her nose. Even if, sure, it was made for one in mind, but she was the one who made it, so– “Brigand’s Solace?”
          Ozzy scoffed, chuckling as he pointed the pen accusingly. “Now you just stole my idea and made it sound more cool than it is, Morc.”
           “Oh, come up with a better one then! I dare you–”
           "Bettin' on what that I CAN, then–"
           “Everflame Lenity?” Da-Lun interjected, before their bickering could escalate. He nodded his head at the device. “Considering the Pyro component.”
           Stilling, Danae and Ozzy exchanged a glance.
           “That works well enough,” Danae decided, shrugging as Ozzy gave a noncommittal hum ( ’I like the contradiction,’ he might have muttered, she didn’t care to make sure right now ). “For this version, anyways. I might want to change the Pyro source further down the line.”
           “Already thinking of advances for it,” Da-Lun noted, with what sounded suspiciously like an amused laugh. “You really never change.”
           “Well, I can’t afford to just settle after a victory,” she told him, rather matter-of-factly. “‘specially not when I’ve finally gotten a real breakthrough with SOMETHING now.”
           “Cuz yer a shit inventor, sweetheart–”
           “Oz,” Da-Lun warned.
           Danae rolled her eyes, rather than dignify it with a response of her own. Though the fact that the–yeah, okay–Everflame Lenity helped keep her usually simmering temper at bay may have also contributed something. Sue her, she felt nice and relaxed right now, thank you very much. And ruining it to bite the bait Ozzy set out just wasn't worth the effort.
           But like hell would she explain THAT to them.
           Still…okay, yeah, this thing was definitely an immense help when the relief was closer to the worst of the pain. Especially pressed directly against her skin. It was enough to help bear with more than simply physical ailments, with the steady thrum soothing her usually hair-thin nerves enough to keep her calmer than she'd felt in a long time.
          Did that perhaps have an effect on why it felt so pleasant overall, too?
          Shit, were it any closer to her center, the ease it had in spreading the feeling to the rest of her body would definitely be inconvenient. It left her feeling too lax as it was; not focused enough nor willing to keep moving, like she ought to be. It made her want to take it easy, let her body rest. Left her feeling vulnerable, much too vulnerable-
          “What is it then? Th'Everflame seed’s really not good enough for you?” Ozzy asked, back to scribbling down his notes. “Picky, picky~ What’s the issue?”
          Yeah, better tell them any of that. They'd never let her live it down-
          “Well, it works sufficiently enough,” Danae explained, looking back down at the device. She ran her thumb along the dial slowly turning it back. Hesitating when the sensations dulled to mild discomfort began to swell again. “And it will supply an adequately continuous source of Pyro energy to resonate with the Electro Crystal; thus inducing the energy reaction that triggers the relaxant properties I wanted. That is exactly why I'd chosen it initially.”
          “So that’s how that works,” Ozzy muttered, more to himself than her. And being kind enough to mark the inscribed explanation over for ease in locating it at a later time. Which she would normally be worried about, him considered–
          “But?” Da-Lun urged.
          “But,” she amended, tone firm to ensure Ozzy heard, and heard it well– “The Everflame seed, like its source, can be…unstable.”
          Ozzy stopped writing. A flurry of thoughts seemed to cross his mind before he met her gaze, head tilting a slight.
          “So…it’s useless for dear Eliza, then?” he asked. Oddly calm, at that, she reckoned, with hardly a trace of his usual jesting. Enough to make even Da-Lun shift uneasily. Which in and of itself should have been a warning. Anyone else who really knew him well enough sure would have.
          Still, deliberately ignoring it and the little hint of something in his tone ( bitterness? Yeah, that was probably it– ), Danae shrugged. “Not entirely, I would think. But it’s better than nothing.” She paused then tilted her head, a mocking grin at her lips. “What? Scared to risk yer precious little ward, now? When she could FINALLY get her much-needed relief?”
          Ozzy bared his teeth in a laugh. "I just don’t recall clearing her to be one of your little test subjects, love.“
         ”She just needs to say yes,“ Danae retorted. ”I don’t think Eliza needs your permission to be a part of my little–"
          A spark of violet had her voice choking back–Da-Lun had suddenly moved to stand next to her before she could taunt Oz any further. Whether to shut her up or because he had a thought he’d impulsively acted on, she wasn’t quite sure. Probably the former. Especially since he knew how much she hated when he flash-stepped like that–
          “May I?” Da-Lun asked. He remained in place even at her glare, though kneeling immediately once she gave him a curt nod. He reached to handle the device–careful not to touch Danae in the process this time, thankfully.
          Surprise flickered across his features as his shifted his hold on it–ah, so even Da-Lun was taken aback by the odd sensation it gave off–and looked it over. Once, then a second glance-over, gingerly rolling it over across her leg a slight ( oh, that...felt a little better; making a note to write down the way he'd moved and placed it later- ) to ensure he didn’t touch anything more than the points he was holding it by and where it rested against her.
           Danae shook off the slight daze the sensation brought on her, determinedly looking over at Ozzy, who begun to lean forwards. Staring so intently he didn’t notice the ink dripping off the pen tip splattering on his pants–
          ”Hm..."
          ”Report," Danae demanded immediately.
          “It looks to stable enough so long no truly jarring movements are made,” Da-Lun affirmed, pulling back. “Which unfortunately means Morcant here can’t bring it along in-battle–”
           “Oh, the horror,” she drawled, rolling her eyes. “Please, not dealing with agonizing flare ups while on duty. I’ve never experienced that before–”
           “–but it should be safe enough for Eliza to use for herself,” Da-Lun patiently finished. ”Since she is usually at rest and in tucked away in bed."
           “And surely I’ll just up and let you just test that on her?” Ozzy remarked, raising a brow.
           Recall exploitable connection, certainty and magnitude higher than original assumption, Danae's brain chimed in. Factor unpredictability, should be constant enough to use–seek gaining favor, ensuring no repercussions amid self-benefit–
           “I can tote it around while here at home base for awhile longer, if you want,” Danae offered. ”Just to be sure." Compromising as it was, but if it meant getting on his good side here-
          ”Mm, I do like the heightened chances of you getting blown to smithereens,“ Ozzy mused.
          Danae snorted. ”Ha–when boars fly maybe–"
          ”It could do some good in helping Morcant stay in a better mood during its trial run,“ Da-Lun wryly remarked. Gods dammit, there was the mocking she'd been hoping to avoid– “That would save us from plenty frustration. Or…why not try it yourself, Oz? For Eliza’s sake?”
           The man blinked then huffed, leaning back as he pointed at the other with the pen.
          “I like the pain I feel, thank you very much,” Ozzy drawled. “Makes me feel alive. S'like a badge of honor for all I've been through. What I've survived, an' all that shit–” Excuses-
          “And I pride myself in that badge of honor as much as you do,” Danae retorted, rolling her eyes. She carefully rolled the device a bit more over her skin. ”And feeling the relief I do from it right now is just downright weird, I’ll admit.“ She paused a moment to brace herself, then fully pulled the device away from her body in a swift motion. Curling her lip a little at the growing, gnawing want to put it right back into place– “But believe me, try this. Just this once. Or what? You scared?”
           Ozzy barked out a laugh. "Of one of your contraptions? Oh, very, sweetheart."
            "Aww, truly?" Danae goaded. "Stars, and here I thought there was no gamble you wouldn't take!"
            "Say I do, then," Ozzy chided, rolling his shoulders a bit. Ooh, had that annoyed him? That was a first- "I highly doubt it'd even work right–"
           ”And with any luck, he’d fumble it and it’d blow him halfway to Celestia,“ Da-Lun muttered, the corner of his lip twitching a slight at Danae's snicker. ”Spare us all his clownery.“
           Ozzy eyed him at that, eyes narrowing just a hint before holding his hand out for the device. "Oh, I'd like to see Celestia tryn'n handle me, Da."
           "You really think gods can't do what we have already?"
           "Nope."
           Danae scoffed a laugh then handed it off to Da-Lun, who passed it over to the man. Grimacing when Ozzy swiftly snatched it from his hands.
          Seriously, was he trying to make it explode?
          Especially since he'd immediately pushed against his belly, just under his ribs at his right side, the moment he'd gotten it. Which, recklessness aside, was already odd in and of itself, because Danae could have sworn his back ought to be where it goes. Pain relief considered, anyways.
           Huh. So his weakest physical point was closer that area then?
           A breathless sound in surprise had Danae's thoughts stuttering to a halt as she looked back over at the others.
           Ozzy’s jaw had dropped, eyes wide as he clutched the Lenity to his body. Pressing it a little tighter, even while Da-Lun had tsk’d and tried to ease his grip, tried to stop him from fully turning the dial.
           ”Good then?“ Danae asked, moving to hop back up onto her workbench. A hand moved to idly dig the heel of her hand at the joint of her hip, once, twice, pushing down towards base of her knee, then her lower leg as she glanced him over. ”Looks like it, if yer all dopey now. Stars, did I actually discover the means to finally sedate you?"
            Ozzy managed a chuckle. “Okay, so that…that really…!”
            Da-Lun stepped to scoop up the pen and parchment from where the man had discarded them, then moved back. Oh, good, he knew the priorities here, as always– “Yes?”
           “Morc, when you said resonate, you really…!” Ozzy let out a soft exhale, gesturing a slight to Da-Lun with his head, "C'mere, Da," then promptly pressed against the other for support once he drew close enough. No sooner, Ozzy's eyes fluttered shut, a content little hum rising in his throat.
           He lay still a moment, two, before adding to his recount, “Feels lovely. Like a gentle...buzz? No, a hum, all through me." He waited a moment for Da-Lun to catch up, then added, "S'very soothing. Like…like a song–”
            “Like Sister Barbara’s healing song?” Danae teased, shifting a slight as she eyed the Lenity. Stars above, the fact that she still wanted it back was a bad sign weak, weak-
            “Oh, no–no, I don’t like that.” Ozzy’s eyes scrunched up a bit in distaste. "Th'shit gives me headaches just hearin' it from afar. I fear I'd burst into flames if she tried usin' it on me."
            Pen scratches stuttered as Da-Lun stared at him incredulously. "She–she has a Hydro Vision–"
           ”Y'know what I mean, Da."
           "No, I don't–"
           In spite of the resulting laugh, Danae sucked in a soft breath while the two were distracted in their bickering, easing to edge forwards.
           It was subtle, but now that she was a little closer, Danae noticed the usual slight furrow of Ozzy’s brow was gone, his jaw fully relaxed. Even his breathing seemed to be a little easier, too, with only slight hitches compared to the more pronounced rattle from before. A little quicker too, as though he were no longer carefully measuring each breath. His body didn't twitch and shudder as much either, no tension from how guarded and wound up he usually was; like a crossbow pulled taut and ready to fire at any moment.
          Stars, it was no wonder the man started sounding like he had his tongue made of lead now. And from the looks of it, whatever he felt on the daily must be a nightmare to deal with, if even this modicum of relief worked for him. More than the aches and discomfort she did, for sure. Unless...he was just playing it all up to snuggle up to Da-Lun. She really wouldn't put it past him to–
          ”Still wanna hold off on it for Eliza?“ Da-Lun asked softly.
          Ozzy hummed, eyes blinking open. “I still doubt it’s safe enough,” he mumbled, smoothly lifting it for Da-Lun to take. Rather unflinchingly, too- ”Especially with her…ah, clumsiness?“
          ”Ooh, don’t let her hear that. You know how sensitive she is about it."
          ”Morc–"
          “Mako and Jade can help stay and manage it,” Da-Lun suggested, carefully taking it in hand then reaching for the cloth Danae held out. Awkwardly at that, as Ozzy still leaned heavily against him even with the thing gone. Well, he did have to readjust to not having it...that made two who did. What a massive downside- “We all could, in shifts.”
          Shaking her head to dash further thoughts,Danae wrinkled her nose. ”All of us–?"
          “Ugh, but then I’d have to increase your salaries to account for the extra hours you’d put in,” Ozzy groaned, throwing an arm over his eyes. “Then where does that leave me? Broke. Ruined–”
          “Mako and Durene would be more than happy to do it for free,” Danae pointed out, rolling her eyes. “Mako–here, Da, put it in this–loves making himself useful, spoiled brat as he is. And he adores Eliza, something about those Fontaine folk–”
         “And Durene?” Ozzy asked, tipping his head back in thought as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. ”What's her stake?“
          Danae blinked. She glanced over at Da-Lun then back to Ozzy. “You…can’t be serious.”
         “Dead, in fact,” Ozzy answered, eyeing her back out the corner of his eye. “What?”
         ”Well, I’ll be,“ Danae marveled, nudging Da-Lun's hip with her good leg as best she could reach. Ignoring Ozzy's groan in protest- "You hearin' this?"
          “I genuinely think he doesn't know,” Da-Lun remarked, disbelief clear in his tone. “Ozzy doesn't know.”
          “Dunno what?”
          “That is such an exploitable weakness.” Danae damn near felt amused enough to burst out in laughter. “So exploitable, I’ve been–Oz...!”
          "What?" The man sat up fast, almost childishly petulant in his demand, “What? Tell me!”
          “Durene and Eliza…"  Da-Lun emphasized. Gesturing a little for emphasis.
          Ozzy’s brow furrowed a slight, the gears slowly turning in his brain, then his eyes flashed open. ”Oh."
         ”Oh,“ Danae mocked.
         ”Oh, indeed,“ Da-Lun muttered. ”Now, Oz, don’t–”
         “What a fucking nightmare,” Ozzy choked out, horror blooming across his features as he clutched his chest. “My Eliza and Durene…!”
          “Oz–”
          ”Oh, stars, the unethics of a healer-patient relationship!“ Ozzy clapped his palm against his forehead. ”Durene’s been compromised!"
          Danae faceplamed as Da-Lun sputtered and clapped a hand over his mouth. What was he trying to stifle there– ”That’s what you’re worried about?“
          “My healer’s making goo-goo eyes at someone in her care,” Ozzy scoffed, feigned offense across his features. “Distracted, from her duties no doubt. Are you not worried?”
          ”I th-think it’s more of a benefit to you and Eliza that she is,“ Da-Lun managed. Clearing his throat and straightening up promptly at the odd look Danae threw him.
          ”Benefit to me?“ Ozzy laughed. ”Oh, no, you should see how she gets when I keep courtin' dear Eliza–oh...that explains a lot of her enmity to me now–, but, no, no, her feelings for Eliza are not a benefit to me–"
           ”But,” Danae pointedly suggested, “she can willingly watch over Eliza’s progress with the Everflame Lenity once she sees how much it’d help her.”
           Ozzy blinked. ”Oh. Yeah, that. She’d love that.“ Seriously–
           ”Then it’s Eliza’s,“ Danae decided. ”We could have her–or, maybe Durene–report more on it and how effective it is for her. For now. As for the rest of us–"
            ”Any solid ideas for a more stable Pyro source?” Ozzy interrupted. And normally Danae would snap at him for it. However…
           She rubbed the back of her neck. “Uh…haa, that–” She shifted under his stare. Alright, calculate the immediate outrage ( wait, why was she so worried? She didn't care ), bracing briefly ( oh, right, because they were more annoying than the others when they got worked up ), plunging the wound into saltwater– “A Smoldering Pearl should...work–?”
           “Archons, Morcant–”
           “Of fucking course you’d ask for that–”
           “Mako’s working on getting us into Inazuma as is!” she snapped defensively. “And I’ve been there before–”
           “Under Fatui diplomatic immunity,” Da-Lun scoffed, rolling his eyes.
           “How do you expect us to get off Ritou even then, hm?” Ozzy chimed in.
           “–so I know exactly where to go from there and what to do,” she stubbornly continued. “I can get us some disguises and use that Fatui Diplomacy to our favor if we really need all that, then a team of four can easily get in, get what we need, then get out. Simple!”
           “And you have your crack team all in mind, I’m sure?” Ozzy asked, crossing his arms. Genuinely, mockingly, probably both, knowing him–
           Still, Danae was undeterred as she just her chin out. Because, “As a matter of fact I do.” Mostly cobbled together from obsessive research she’d done on the needed source, sure, and perhaps all strictly hypothetical in its effectiveness, but– “One, I would be a key asset to this, since it’s a Pyro-based lifeform."
          "Obviously," Ozzy drawled.
          Danae huffed. "Then I would want you an' Da, as well as–”
         “The only other alternatives we have to fight it are Durene who possesses a Dendro Vision,” Da-Lun protested, “Jade who would be absolutely useless to us with Pyro abilties herself, and–”
           “Tua would be perfectly effective in providing ample distraction while the rest of us get to work and get it done!” Danae finished stubbornly. “Not to mention his Vision’s Geo reactions can get us shields while he's at it." Da-Lun’s mouth opened to protest again, her swiftly moving to cut him off in adding, ”I think that works just fine since I could help us finish it up promptly.“ Ignoring Ozzy’s snort- ”What, would you rather we ask some outsider for help? Da?”
           Da-Lun clicked his tongue. “I would prefer we don’t go through the trouble at all!”
           “Because you’re a damn coward!” Danae snapped, simmering temper at last igniting. Adamantly staying right in place to meet his glare, even as he suddenly flickered to stand towering over her again. Perhaps having instinctively made a grab for her screwdriver when he did- "This isn't anythin' new fer me. Fer us. We've been and always have–"
           “We aren’t just risking two people like back then, Morcant,” he snarled back. “And even with the lot of us working in tandem now, you know damn well THAT thing is entirely different than a Pyro Regisvine. What you’re doing now is just insa–”
          “We aren’t 'risking' enough! " Danae spat, slamming her free hand down. "And if you can’t see that, you gods-damned, half-breed beast, you oughta–!”
          A shrill whistle had both Danae and Da-Lun flinching, turning to glare at Ozzy.
         “Honestly, utter children, the lot of you,” he huffed, lowering his fingers from his mouth. Shaking his head, he met Danae's gaze. “Tell me, the Pearl will make it safer for Eliza? For certain?”
          “Yes.” Danae huffed, crossing her arms. Both to press them against the gnawing sensation at her gut and in gesture. “It’s much more stable and has a more constant flow of Pyro energy. Likely will last longer, too.” She shot Da-Lun a proud look at Ozzy’s appraising hum. “And if we’re able to get more than one, not only is it extra insurance, but I could also tamper with them and see if it could help us not be so caught by the relief of the Lenity. See if we could possibly be able to control the intensity of the feeling a lot easier. Y'know?”
          Da-Lun raised a brow. “You’re fully sure of it?”
          “It’s…an estimation,” Danae grudgingly admitted. “On that latter bit, anyway. But, for certain, the Lenity would be safer for Eliza to use with it. And for far longer periods of time, without much–if at all–risk of the continuous exposure to Electro causing a terrible reaction. Especially compared to the Everflame seed.”
          “Hn…” Ozzy nodded slowly. “I like that. We’ll draft plans for it come morn, then. In the meantime–” He reached to tap the box the device now rested in. “You let Durene know what to do, Da. She likes you best.”
          “She thinks I’m the only one of us with sense,” Da-Lun corrected, snorting. “And after all that transpired now? I am fully inclined to agree.” Still, he made his way to the door without further protest. Pausing, he looked back.
          “I’ll stay with them on the first night trial run, as well,” he told them. “For the notes. And extra security.”
          “You’re the best, Da,” Danae called to him. Grinning completely unfazed at his withering glare.
          “Not bad for a gods-damned, half-breed beast, right?” Da-Lun drawled, before turning and heading off. Slamming the door on his way out.
          Ozzy's gaze lingered there until the sound footsteps retreated, then gave Danae a sidelong glance. “Oof, I think you really hurt him with that one, Morc.”
         “Ah, he’ll get over it,” she muttered, waving her hand dismissively as she hopped down and turned to start clearing her workbench.
         “Y'know, his kind don’t take so kindly to insults,” Ozzy chided, coming up behind her to take the box she held up. "They seem rather the smite-y sort, if y'know what I mean."
          As he moved to set it on the shelf behind them, Danae snorted.
         “Aw, what’s he gonna do? Cry to Rex Lapis about it?” She rolled her eyes. “I’d like to see that old fossil drag his ass on over here'n try anything. Oh wait, he can't. An' not like the others could do any better-” Shutting the toolkit, shuffling to straighten then setting her notes to the side, thank fuck they were actually well-done–
         She paused.
          Wait, why didn’t Ozzy laugh at that one? He usually liked her prideful little commentary–
         “You better hope that doohickey of yers doesn’t hurt her.”
         Danae rolled her eyes at the genuine seriousness in his voice. “Really? Open vulnerability in front of me, Oz?" Fingers drummed against the tabletop. "How bad did the thing get you, genuinely–”
          “I mean it, Mare.”
          She stilled, exhaling slowly. Alright, so…no joking around. Whatsoever.
          A breath, two, then Danae turned around, leaning back on the desk. “We, of all people, know Da is the best person to protect her if it risks that.” She puffed her chest out. "Plus it's one of my works, Oz. I wouldn't hand it out for use unless I was certain it would work. One-hundred percent."
          "Mm, true." Ozzy hummed, leaning in. Not to cage her like she'd anticipated, but to scoop up the toolkit, before pulling back to kneel and store it away. He glanced up at her. "Just I'm clear–we’re agreed. Yes?" A hand reached out. "That we can’t go near that thing again, I mean.”
           Danae eyed him curiously, then sighed and held out a hand to help him to standing. "Hn." Even if awkwardly, considering he towered a near foot over her- "S'not good for folks like us."
           It felt safe. Too safe. Damn near a trap of her own making, undoing forged by her own hands. An illusion of something just waiting to be shattered. One that most certainly would be. Something that'd definitely leave them at risk of being shattered themselves, especially in Ozzy's case, where the pain seemed to ramp up harshly once it was taken away–
           "Right, agreed, then," Ozzy said, gripping her shoulders uncomfortably tight as he pushed to stand back up straight. "Glad you fed Da that bullshit of us wanting one of our own, too. Absolutely brilliant, he won't nag us to–ah, ah, don't you get all smug on me now."
           He released his hold, moving to smooth the wrinkles from his clothes. Pausing to eye the ink stain on his pants, before adding, "So, we’ll never speak of this again, nor risk messing with that ever. 'nless absolutely necessary."
           "I can power through pain just fine, Oz," Danae huffed, crossing her arms as she rolled her shoulders. "Have for years now, same as you. M'not Jade, for that matter."
           Ozzy laughed, moving to bump her cheek with his knuckles. "But I still don’t want you compromised, Morc." A pause, baring his teeth in a grin. "It’d look bad on us if you collapse mid-mission or show weakness again, y'know."
           A harsh flush rose in Danae's face as smacked his hand away, baring her teeth and snarling, "That was one time, Oz. Let it go. I told you, it won't happen again–"
          "We never know." Unfazed, Ozzy shrugged and moved to see himself out. "Keep pushing yourself like that, sweetheart, it might just happen. Not that you've ever been a good listener–"
            "I don't wanna hear that from the man who keeps using a Delusion against his healer's orders," she snarked. "Damn hypocrite."
            "Ooh, perhaps." Hand on the knob, Ozzy paused and turned back. "Keep working on that, for me, yeah? And for your trouble today–"
            He reached to rummage in his pocket, tossing her a small item.
            Swiftly snatching it from the air, Danae glanced at her palm. Brows furrowing a slight as she held it up.
            "A key?" she scoffed, raising a brow. "That's my reward?"
            "Da and I got our hands on an Abyss Mage," Ozzy explained, looking rather proud at her now startled disbelief. "Pyro, mind you. Tua's keeping them company now as we speak, keeping them nice and weak for you."
            "You brought one for me?" Danae's grip on the key grew taut as her eagerness grew, the metal biting into the soft meat of her palm. "Here?"
           "A rather tricky feat to manage, mind you," Ozzy remarked. "But I knew you would earn it. In spite of all your hopeless little setbacks–"
            "Oz!"
           Pearl-white teeth flashed as he laughed. "Have fun with them, sweetheart. I might just join you t'get in on the fun." He opened the door and slipped out, casting one last look inside, "And good work, Morc. You did well," before the door shut behind him.
            Danae let out a soft breath she hadn't even realized she'd been holding. Slumping a slight against the desk now that the others had gone.
            The praise churned in her gut, bubbling like air beneath the frothing ocean waves. But more than that, far more importantly than that, what gripped her the most now was the utter eagerness that thrummed in her veins at the thought of seeing their little prisoner now. In being able to carve information out of it herself, wringing every last bit of information it possibly had to offer. And if it didn't cooperate? She'd make every last moment the most miserable of its wretched existence, out of spite, in a bit of fun and stress-relief–fuck, after today's success, this was the cherry atop the sundae!
            And if all went well, maybe she'll even indulge in one in the capitol, too. Maybe catch that little girl with the Valberries along the way and get some of those as well, stars, that would be a delight!
            With that thought, Danae grinned as she tossed then caught the key, and rushed out the door.

Anonymous support group for fatties who's fupa have gotten so big they can't touch let alone see their junk.
It's mostly an excuse for all of them to meet up and complain about being so pent up and horny (along with stuffing their faces with junk food in order to cope). The only requirments being you show up naked and bring snacks...

I’ve always been alone. Others will try to convince me otherwise but when I take the time to think beyond the surface I see it too. They just think I’m dumb enough to not realize it. I’m not one of the team. I’m just a shared burden for them to laugh at. The shared love for medicine and scientific discoveries bonds them in a way I can never be apart of. I’ve seen them whisper behind my back. I’m not an idiot. I know it was about me. My own teacher lacking any faith of what I can do. I’m just someone to laugh at. I guess they never believed in me. No one does.
If they did truly love me, they wouldn’t have left me.
If I truly loved them then I shouldn’t have been such a coward. Maybe if I died I wouldn’t feel like this. I’d finally stop being a burden. Even now. As I forced us together and created a fight. I felt that same distance. That maybe if I weren’t here it wouldn’t have mattered. They share a bond even if on opposite sides. Even then they have someone when there isn’t each other. Their students are still alive. Where I failed mine.
And they forgot about me.
If I weren’t here then nothing would have changed. I don’t think I’ve ever mattered. Maybe I should stop pretending that I do. It eats away me. This… loneliness. I guess the only change I’ll ever make is when the bugs thrive off my flesh and the earth that grows from my remains.
The page it’s written on is crumpled up to the point it’s almost soft and the integrity of the paper is close to falling apart. The ripped edge implies its from a journal and was hastily torn out. There’s inky fingerprints everywhere and the sloppy writing itself suggests it was written in a messy emotional tirade. A feeble attempt to get out the thoughts that cloud his brain. It isn’t signed or dated. But those who have seen this handwriting before know who it belongs to.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
𓂂𓏳 cha woongki
woongki is the second one all the way ! he loves receiving the same amount of affection he gives, so cuddling face to face is his go-to. depending on his mood, he could be the one burying his face in the crook of your next or vice versa !
𓂂𓏳 maeda haruto
haruto is the second one with a little twist ! idk why but i see him as a mover in his sleep, so most of the time you two just end up with your legs intertwined lol. if you’re both feeling silly, all your limbs will be intertwined until someone decides to wake up !
𓂂𓏳 iinuma anthonny
anthonny is either the second or the fourth one ! he’s such a sweetheart, depending on his mood, he could hold you close face to face or have you just hug him from behind because it makes him feel safe and secure !
𓂂𓏳 park hanbin
hanbin is the first or third one depending on his mood ! after a tiring day of practice, he would just rather hug you from behind and inhale your scent because he swears it’s so calming and addictive. but in general, he just wants to hold you as close as possible, so three is his favorite position !
𓂂𓏳 mun junghyun
junghyun is the third one ! he just likes the feeling of knowing you’re safe and sound in the comfort of his own arms. it’s also a benefit if he wants to catch a glimpse of your face before drifting to dreamland. psst, it happens quite often !
𓂂𓏳 lee jeonghyun
jeonghyun is either the first or third one ! he’s quite flirty and would rather hold you to where he can see your flustered face. but there are times where he just wants to hide his face in the crook of your neck and take in your scent !
𓂂𓏳 kim taerae
taerae is the either the second or fourth one ! he’s a little sensitive so he likes positions where he can easily find comfort from you. he’s never shy to be the little spoon and loves it when he can hide his face in your chest !

((Note: This drabble will have heavy grammar mistakes and errors but this was written for fun. I hope you understand but also enjoy please.))
"So Taz, how have you been so far? We heard your still growing stronger by the day. We all still do miss you but we hope your well." Taz Hellion was speaking to her leader from the DBT: Van Ink the dragon. She's been doing the daily check up today seeing her in her dorm room.
"Hi Ink and I miss you too. I've been alright and still getting stronger by the day. Though, we are just having another day off though due to some things." she laughed a bit while sitting on her bed to look at the screen.
"Ah, I see. Well, knowing how training has been I believe that. Though, has anything new happened with you and the others?" she asked as Taz thinks about it.
"Hmmmm, not really. Though, some things have happened." Taz explains before she looks seeing a baby quoll near by rolling on it's back. The same one that Taz summoned when she became a toddler. However, their was another curse that was curled up in her lap happily.
"Uhhhhh wait, what is that?" Ink noticed to see the Possum racoon curse. However, she blinks to pet his head to smile.
"Oh this is Charlie. He's a curse that Kisho and Megumi found when on a mission. He tends to be a grumpy pants but he's not too bad." she said while petting him. The baby quoll nuzzles against her hand too as she was petting both of them.
"Wait..Kisho and Megumi found him? Though, he don't seem like a grumpy pants.."
"Trust me, he is. He tends to be a trouble maker." Taz said with a sweatdrop. But maybe she can explain.
~~~~~~~~~~
"So yeah! I figured if we bring him back we can teach him now to be nice!" Kisho was speaking to the others even the Principle Yaga who was seeing both Megumi and Yuji scratched up all over while Megumi was doing his best not to be angry.
"Uh huh........and your telling me this how? I thought the curse was with them during the time-"
"Lets just say we found it during the time we were shopping for Taz and Yuji. But Kisho figure it was a good idea to go and bring it back." he explains to see Yaga sigh.
"......"
"Please Mister Yaga. I'm sure he can be nice..." Kisho said only to see the curse hiss and hops on his face scratching his face again. Kisho screams in pain trying to stop it.
"WILL YOU STOP SCRATCHING MY FACE!? OW THAT HURTS! STOP IT!"
"........" Nanami, Yaga, and Gojo blinks to hear this but they were unsure on how this curse will be good. With a sigh, he looks to him.
"Fine. I guess you can prove it. You boys will just try to make our 'guest' welcome. Just....keep it out of trouble." he said.
"R..right.." Megumi said seeing Kisho rolling on the ground trying to get the curse off his now scratched up face.
"Ow..."
~~~~~~~~~~~
"Oh wow. So that curse named Charlie was like that?" Ink asked.
"Yeah but he don't mean to. Though, he seems to be friendly with the girls instead of the guys." Taz said still petting his head seeing the baby quoll now sleeping in her lap too.
"Charlie was either very scared when being found or maybe he was just unsure on what to do."she said but Taz keeps holding both curses to her.
~~~~~~~~~
As soon as Kisho and Megumi was given the order to keep a eye on the curse. He already caused some chaos. From the first day, he's been always biting and clawing at the boys who would take turns to it but it was after Taz and Yuji were back to normal. At first, Taz was shocked hearing this even Yuji was too when hearing this. But more when seeing the little curse.
"Why are you two so scratched up?" Nobara said but Kisho sighed.
"You don't want to know-Ow!"
"Sorry!" Miko said trying to put some medicine on the scratches of his face while holding a bottle, a cotton ball with tweezers.
"Well, even though you guys look like a mess..." Nobara sighed. "Though, has the little guy gotten used to his new home?" she asked.
"..Eh...in a way.." Kisho said remembering it shredding his clothes, trying to bit Eito. Their was times it sneaks off causing problems like attacking Megumi while he sleeps or jumpscaring. To Yuji being bitten and him scratching at his face. All Sukuna would do is laugh.
"Well you guys have got to try being more nice to it or...him?" she said.
"Well, it's more like a monster if that's the right word!" Megumi said annoyed with this curse hearing it hiss at him but he saw it glare at him before seeing Megumi holding him.
"Besides, we wouldn't have to worry about him if he stops biting me and the guys." he said poking his nose seeing veins showing till it chomps down on his hand. "OW! YOU FUCKING LITTLE-"
He sees him jump from his hands right into Taz's arms as she blinks to hold it. He hisses angry at Megumi, Kisho, and Yuji but nuzzles happily against Taz.
"Uhhhhhh....he seems to like you...." Miko said to Taz.
"HA!?!? THAT'S NOT FAIR!" Kisho said.
'Wow, I can't believe you brats are so scared of a little thing. You call yourselves sorcerers?!' Kinie said laughing at the boys even if they look to her trying to not say anything.
"You don't get it Kinie that THING hates us!" Yuji said.
'Yeah, no kidding!' she said bursting out laughing.
"I..I don't know how he likes me. I just met him.....but he does look cute." she said seeing him now trying to be cute before it looks to Nobara wagging it's tail.
"Huh, she's got a point. He looks more like a little kid than most." she even reaches to scratch it's head hearing a happy trill from it's throat. It even wraps the tail around her wrist hoping for more.
".............."
"You...that fucking little-"
"Easy Megumi, easy." Kisho said nervous seeing him wanting to destroy that little beast.
"How can I!? Why did you think bringing him back was a good idea!?" he said grabbing Kisho by the shirt who yelps.
"I thought he would be added as a new member like Wilson!" he said in a panic.
"SERIOUSLY!?" He said only to see the cruse being petted by Nobara, Taz, and Yuria. Miko was just done with fixing Kisho up before seeing the curse hop and lands in her arms. She squeaked seeing him nuzzling her cheek.
"H..hello there little guy.." she said being carefully while even Eito, Wilson, and Anaconda was curious he only keeps being happy with the females but he seems to be alright with them too.
'Oh this little jerk!' Kisho thought only for him to still be admired by the girls. He even walks over to glare at it. "How come your so nice with them and not us!? Why be a little brat!" he said only for the curse to hiss and chomp down on his hand again.
Kisho twitched only to yelp out in pain from the bite as he rolls on the ground from the pain. Megumi and Yuji sweatdrops even seeing Eito looking at him with a deadpan expression.
"Now now, I'm sure he didn't mean it.." Yuria said.
"Oh he did! I'll get you for that!" Kisho said with tears in his eyes even if the curse hisses at him but goes to nuzzling Taz happily calm again.
"I..I think we should give him a...a name right?" Miko asked seeing the girls agree.
"Hmmmm..true. So...what should we name him?" Nobara asked.
"....How about Ross?" Yuria said seeing the curse shaking his head.
"Mark?" Nobara said seeing him shake his head.
"..St...steve?" Miko said seeing him shake his head. Taz thinks a little but she blinks to look.
"How about Charlie? Is that okay?" she asked to see him blink but nod as he goes to hop in Taz's arms to lick her cheek. She blinks holding him.
"So Charlie hmm? Alright then, we'll call you Charlie!" she said as the girls were happy. However, the boys were shocked seeing this. That sneaky little punk got the girls to love him! However, when doing so, he shows a snickering grin from the girls to the guys who was seething right now.
~~~~~~~~~
"Ohhhh now I get it. Wow, he must cause a lot of trouble around don't he?" Ink asked.
"Hmmm, In a way but he's not bad. He's just a little curse. It's just like Wilson when he was taken out due to be cursed. So I think Charlie will be fine. The other shikigami get along with him. I don't know why he don't get along with big brother and the others though." she mutters wondering about it.
"Well, I'm sure in the future they will get along. I do want them to be happy even with this little guy. Mr. Yaga already made a cute plush for him too so it means he's part of the family now!" she smiled looking at the two sleeping shikigami.
"Speaking of them, where are the guys?" Ink asked.
"Ehhhh they said something about doing some cleaning work around school. I'm sure they will be done before lunch later." she said. This made Ink blink wondering what happened but she gets the feeling it involved Charlie.
Meanwhile with them, they had to clean the classroom due to Charlie's rage so they were cleaning it up before Megumi was brushing something away.
"You know, maybe it was a bad idea to bring him here.." Kisho said only to get bonked on the head hard by Megumi leaving a swollen lump. "OW!"
"YOU THINK!?" he shouted shaking his fist. "I TOLD YOU WE SHOULD HAVE EXORCIST THE CURSE BUT NOW BECAUSE OF THIS HE'S STUCK WITH US!" Megumi said.
"I SAID I WAS SORRY! I DIDN'T KNOW! I THOUGHT HE WOULD BE NICE LATER IN THE FUTURE BUT WE WILL HAVE TO KEEP TRYING WON'T WE?!" he said only for Megumi's eye to twtich.
"He's right. Maybe we just got off on the wrong foot. I'm sure he will be nice....if we try." Yuji said. Moments later, Yuji and Kisho were running out of the classroom with bunnies chasing them.
"COME ON MEGUMI!! WE WERE JUST SAYING!" Yuji said scared as he ran.
"YEAH, THAT'S NOT FAIR!!"
"GET YOUR ASSES BACK HERE!!" He shouted chasing them as Kisho and Yuji runs off screaming for their lives. However, they will be sure to finish up the cleaning and maybe think of a way to get better with knowing Charlie. Maybe.

          “Mama?”
          “Hush now, Little Minnow,” Morjena hissed. Slender fingers combed through carefully braided curls, laced with gilded threads–she did that a lot when she waited for Papa. Both the little habit and decorating herself all nice. She even painted her mouth that pretty color Papa liked, eyes adorned with the bluey hues of the sparkly ocean Mare often saw photygraphs of.
          “Mama–”
          “Not now, Mare.”
          The tone had Mare flinching, a whine rising in her throat. That had Morjena stilling, turning with a smile that tugged lots at her mouth.
          “My minnow,” Mama said, her voice much softer and slow than before. “Mama’s busy right now, can’t you see?”
          “I see,” Mare answered, perking up at the lighter tone. “And I see you’re…worried?”
          “Worried?” Morjena made a face. A weird face Mare couldn’t quite tell what it was, but it...didn't look good- “You think me worried, Little Minnow?”
          “Well, cuz...cuz Papa’s late,” Mare noted. Cringing back when the woman’s expression darkened a slight, like it did right before she started yelling and throwing things when Papa didn’t show up. Which...happened a lot nowadays– “So I made you something!”
          "Oh?" Morjena turned to face her fully. “What is it?” she asked, so sweetly Mare couldn’t help the lingering nerves melt away.
          “It’s…this!”
          She held up her gift proudly–a necklace made of painted nuts, shiny stones and pretty shells she’d swiped from the merchant who had stopped by the nearby village.
          “I made it myself!” she told her mother, shaking it slightly. “I saw how to make the holes from the store man an' everything! I even borrowed some of his nicest things for you!”
          Morjena stared at his before smiling that odd smile like she did before. “It’s very lovely, my minnow.”
          “You can wear it for Papa!” Mare insisted, shaking it again. “Take it! Take it! It’s very pretty for you!”
          Morjena’s smile widened a little before she laughed and shook her head. “Oh, don’t be silly, child. If I wear it now, it might break before he comes! And we don’t want that, now do we?”
          Mare cocked her head a little, looking down at the necklace.
          “It won’t break, though,” she mumbled, lips pursing. “I made it.”
          “Oh, don’t you pout now.” Morjena stood, moving to close Mare’s hands over the necklace then gently push it back towards her. “Listen, I am your mother. I know these things. Even the most sturdy of things can break oh, so easily. We cannot risk it, not with a trinket this…lovely.”
          “Trinket’s a funny word,” Mare giggled, preening as her mother’s ruffled her hair.
          “It is, isn’t it?” Morjena glanced back to the dying hues of pink and orange spilling through the window. “Now...keep it safe for me. Yes? When Papa comes, I’ll go fetch it from you. Understood?”
          “Okie!” Mare nodded happily. She frowned a little as the woman pulled away. “Ah, Mama-”
          “Yes?”
          She held out her arms.
          Morjena eyed her then let out a soft breath. “Of course, dear. Come here.”
          She had scarcely knelt, when Mare had rushed forwards to throw her arms around her mother’s neck. Squeezing tight when the woman got all stiff. She really must be so worried about Papa...
          “I love you, Mama,” Mare hummed.
          “Yes, dear,” Morjena said, moving back to place a quick kiss to her head. “Now run along. I need more time to freshen up before Papa comes home, and I need to concentrate.”
          Oh, that meant quiet time and early sleeping. Though…Mare didn’t feel so sleepy right now–
          “Do you understand me?"
          –but she had to listen to her mother, so...
          ”Yes, Mama!“ Mare said, turning to rush to her room. She didn't feel like sleeping, but she couldn't stay, so...maybe she could make another necklace for her mother while she stayed away? Yeah, that would be nice!
          ”What a damn pain."
          Mare stilled, looking back tentatively.
          Her mother wasn’t looking back at her though, instead eyeing herself in the handheld mirror gifted by her boss. Tugging at her eyes some and clicking her tongue as she reached for her bag.
          Still, Mare couldn't help the feeling gnawing deep inside her tummy.
          ...what was that about?
          Mare eyed her mother a moment. Her mouth opened to ask, but remembering what her mama had asked of her, and how much she hated having to repeat herself...she shook her head and kept walking to her room.
          Ah, well...maybe it wasn't all that important.
Tumblr media
          ”–couldn’t have abandoned me. He couldn’t…!“
          Mare carefully peered inside the washroom.
          Today had been a pretty bad day for her mama. She kept throwing things and yelling more than yesterday. And the day before that. And the days before those, too.
          And now she was…upset? She figured so, though...her mama usually was a whole lot louder when she was upset. Now she was just...mumbling. Mumbling and acting all weird.
          Which Mare had no idea as to why she was doing that instead, but right now...her mama seemed to be preparing a bath. A nice bath, maybe to relax? She always felt so much better after a bath. So maybe that’s what she wanted. And if her mama was upset then...
          ...well, she would be a bad daughter if she didn't do something, right?
          ”He couldn’t have! He can’t...I-I’ll make sure-“
          ”Mama?“
          Morjena froze, whirling to face her.
          Mare flinched back a little, a little afraid of the strange look in her eyes, but shook her head. Right, she couldn't be scared. Not of her mother.
          She needed her right now, after all!
          Mare took a breath, and began to move closer. Slowly, so her mama didn't get upset or jumpy–
          ”Hi, Mama.“ She didn’t get an answer back, but that was okay. Sometimes she didn’t feel like talking either. Especially when she was upset- ”Can I help?“
          ”Can you help?“ Morjena asked.
          Mare stopped, hands anxiously bunching up the fabric of her dress front.
          The way Mama said it felt…weird. This weird, huffy sort of voice she sometimes used when her boss came over to talk money and other Important Grownup Things. Especially about their house–
          ”Can you help?“ Morjena repeated, swaying to her feet. ”Oh, Minnow...Minnow, Minnow, Minnow–“
          Mare shifted uneasily, backing up to match the couple steps her mother had taken.
          Something…something was wrong. Why was her mama acting so weird–?
          ”Of course you can help, angelfish,“ her mama crooned, lurching forwards again. ”Come...come here–"
          Mare stepped back, ready to turn and run. But in the blink of an eye, her mama was suddenly in front of her, a hand clamped tight around her wrist.
          ”I said ’Come here’,“ Morjena hissed, yanking her forwards.
          Mare cringed back immediately after crashing into her.
          Mama smelled awful. Awful, like when her boss came over and when she came back from her time out sometimes. Did Mama drink that nasty thing she wasn't supposed to touch–?
          ”Gods, what is the matter with you?“ Morjena spat, tugging her again as she stormed further into the room.
          ”Mama, that hurts!“ Mare yelped, hand twitching as sharp nails dug into her arm when she'd tried to pry the grip off. ”Mama, w-why–?“
          ”Dammit it all to hell. He thinks he can make a fool of me,“ Morjena growled, hardly listening as she wrenched Mare forwards. Not even digging her feet against the floor wouldn’t stop, not as they neared the tub–why...why were they going there? ”He thinks he’s got something better? Oh. Oh, no, he’ll see–“
          Mare felt her stomach churn the closer it got. ”M...Mama–?“
          Morjena whirled and lifted Mare without warning.
          ”Here me now,“ Morjena cried. Not to Mare, nor...anybody else in the room. To the sky above their roof, it seemed- ”She will be useless no longer!“
          Mare's eyes widened, body locking rigidly at her words. ”Mama?!“
          ”May the gods grant you their blessing,“ Morjena said, eyes glinting coldly and brightly as stars as they finally met Mare's. "Or may you rid me of my burden and stain their hands for me.“ '
          ”Ma–“ A shriek tore from Mare’s throat as the woman hurled her into the tub. From the rush-like feeling and bolt of fear when she’d been thrown, then another gurgled scream from the impact of her head hitting the side.
          She could scarcely register the pain before something pushed her, down to the bottom of the tub. Mare felt pain flare sharply as the abruptness had the resulting stilted gasp flooded water into her lungs and nose.
          It hurt. It hurt, as she tried to scream and fight to the surface. But it was a vain effort, as she only seemed to be held down all the more forcefully. Pushed down until she was squished against the bottom and lungs spilling precious air in a startled flurry of bubbles.
          Those very bubbles frothed against her nose as she squirmed and screamed once more.
                                             This...this wasn't funny!
                                             This wasn’t funny at all!
                                          What was her mama doing?!
          She writhed again, scarcely able to get her head above the water before she was forced back down. Before more water seemed to get in her, making her choke and sputter again.
          Fear gripped and bored into her bones, warm tears melding with the cold waters around her.
          Please, Mare pled desperately. To her mother. To the gods. Anyone who cared to listen–
                                                              I don’t wanna die
                         I don't wanna die!
                                                                                  Please...!
                                         Mama doesn’t mean it
             Please save me
                                                                        Save me-
          Black laced the edges of her vision, crawling to enclose it like old parchment burned at the edges.
          It was getting harder to move now, too. Her body felt so heavy now, hands weakly slipping from their grip on the woman and falling back into the water with a faint splash.
          A choked sob left her, the last bubbles of air she had to give fleeing to the surface…
          …then something fell from within them. A glowy, pretty...something, calling out to her.
          Mare stilled as it sank closer, save for a weak reach of her arm for it.
          A thrum ran through the water as a voice echoed in her mind,
                                                      Take it
                                                    It’s yours
                                        You want it, don't you?
          I don’t wanna die, Mare pled helplessly, as her first grab just barely brushed her fingertip against the chilled casing.
                                            Then live. Take it-
          Mama would like it, too, she blearily thought, as her fingers clumsily closed around the gleaming gem. Maybe if she got it for her, then Mama wouldn't be so mad at her anymore, too. Even if she didn't do anything wrong! She didn't DO anything wrong! But...but...!
          Mare's lips parted as her vision began to fully fade, grip growing impossibly tight on the gem. But...Mama didn't just DO things out of nowhere. There had to have been a reason...right? Or-
                                       What will you do now, little one?
                                                        Decide.
          Mare's eyes scrunched shut, as the water thrummed around her.
                                        I don’t deserve to die here.
          A blinding surge flooded through her, every trace of water that invaded her system suddenly purged. It hurt, it hurt so much more than everything else before, like her body were burning. Or…no, fire hurt much differently, This was…sharper, like a sting, no, like lightning?, as it built up and grew stronger-
          She screamed and her vision flashed black, a shrill sound screeching in her ears as the world around her suddenly felt as though rushing past. Surging forth like a powerful, crashing flood, blasting past and leaving her falling as if even the ground beneath her were torn asunder.
          Then her body suddenly fell limp at the bottom of the cold tub.
          Mare shivered and gasped feebly, like a fish out of water, as she lay there.
          Fish...out of water–
          Her eyes flashed open, a sharp, louder breath than before suddenly filling her lungs.
          She could breathe now. It–still hurt and stung to, but...but she couldbreathe. That was the important thing. She could breathe. That and…
          The water around her was all gone.
                                     How...how did that happen?
          Mare blinked, head lolling to the side. Clutched in her hand, she could blearily make out the glowing blue gem from her…dream? Was that what it was? The bad dream? Weird dream? Or…
          She dragged her arm back to herself, lifting it to better see her prize.
          The glassy surface was perfect–much more pristine than anything she’d ever seen her mother wear. More than anything she'd ever seen in her lifetime, even in the merchants' pretty things. The glowing blue even held a familiar blue sigil at its center–Hydro. She remembered that one from the village.
          It was so pretty...it would look so nice on her mama–
          Wait–where was she?
          Mare quickly sat up in alarm, choked sounds of pain spilling from her lips at the jarred movement. But that didn’t matter, Where was her mama? Did she go away? But...but she was just here! Where–
          Mare looked around then froze.
          Froze, as her eyes fell upon where Morjena lay slumped against the wall. Eerily still.
          A cold dread gripped her heart.
          ”Ma...Mama…!“ Mare gasped, near tumbling out of the tub. Her vision blurred and darkened as she stumbled uselessly along the way, a punched grunt leaving her when she'd lost balance and fallen in her tummy. But it didn't matter. It didn't matter, not like- ”Mama….Mama, Mama, Mama!“
          Did she do this? No! No, she couldn’t have! She would never hurt her mama!
          "Mama!" Mare sobbed, grabbed at the woman's sleeve. She tugged, once, twice. "Wake up. Mama, wake up, wake up...!"
          Morjena coughed, curling in on herself. Was she hurt? Oh, gods-
          Mare tried to hold her, but the woman shoved her back fast the instant she got too close. A pitched whined rose in her throat. Was she mad at her? Or- ”Mama–?“
          Mare froze as the woman glared at her.
          Oh...oh, she was mad–
”What did you just–?“ Morjena froze, venom stilling on her tongue as her gaze fell to the still glowing gem in Mare's hand. Her eyes widened. ”A–a Vision? That…a-and Hydro too...!“
          Mare looked back at the gem. Vision…a Vision–
          "Yes," she finally spoke. She held it out for her mother to take. "I-I got it. For you!"
          Morjena blinked then abruptly smiled. ”Oh, my minnow, you really did it!“
          Mare shakily smiled back. She didn't get it, but…her mama was happy, so- ”So...you're not mad at me?"
          ”Mad?" Clear bell laughter burst for Morjena's lips. "Oh, no. Not at all. You did so well for me, my dearest minnow.“
          She did well. The praise soothed Mare's heart, her smile growing brighter and more genuine. She did well...she did so well for her mama!
          "Ohh...!" Morjena suddenly reached out to yank her close, hugging her tight. Mare couldn't help the sharp yelp and wincing at the soreness in her lungs flaring. ”You truly did so very well; all I could have hoped for!“
          At her words, Mare couldn't help hugging her mother back even through the ache in her chest. ”So...so I can help you more now?"
          ”So, so much more,“ Morjena agreed, pulling back to kiss her forehead. ”Thank you...thank you, my sweet minnow.“
          ”Your welcome~" Mare hesitated, then tentatively looked back at her mother. ”I love you, Mama."
          ”I love you too,“ Morjena sighed, eyeing the Vision glinting in the dim. ”I love you very much…you truly are a little miracle, aren't you?“
                                          “Oh, how useful you will be.”

I feel like I haven't done any canon content recently, so I've decided to put together this comic about platonic yandere ghost riley! I just really love the thought of him being an overprotective dad to his kid and wanting to be there for them no matter what (unlike his own father) and I feel like because of everything he's witnessed, he knows how cruel the world can truly be and would want to shield you from that as much as possible.
Hope you guys enjoy! I have a lot of other ideas about platonic yandere ghost and COD in general if you guys end up wanting more!❤️

A Halloween Festival!
A season of magic, mischief and sweet treats? It was practically made for Ewan. The little mage, energetic and cheerful as always, had spent the past few days bouncing around shops and stalls, looking for the perfect costume.
After all, if this was going to be a social game, he would have to look his best! At last the day arrived, and the boy couldn’t be more excited. “Time to show everyone what real magical mischief looks like!”
With a wave of his hand, an ordinary broom became a tool of flight.
With a smile and a wink, will o the wisps and pumpkins alike would follow his bidding.
And with a lot of shimmying and fidgeting, on was his costume.
All the good boys and girls have been tucked in for the night, as this mischievous boy takes flight!
Those who gaze upon him do so with awe and fear, for he will take what is to them most dear!
Sweet treats, cakes, chocolates and delights made through baking, all of it his for the taking!
Time for a season of joyful tricks so very fun, take flight, little witch Ewan!

Jenny was laying with her hands tied together, the stranger's hands pressed to the sides of her head. His fingers carded through her hair like her mother used to when she was very young. He looked down at her tenderly and bent so he could place a kiss to her forehead, a smile stretching his features. She saw his teeth were sharper than normal. His canines elongated and shining softly in the dim light of the room. The gag on her mouth kept her from speaking up, but she wasn't sure what she would say regardless as he cradled her in his arms.
"Each of us have a different reason for selecting who we do." He whispered and gently stroked her hair, smoothing it out and then beginning to braid the pale strands. "Some of us for beauty, some of us for power, some for strength and other ideals. But the truth is that the best thing is to seek out someone who's perfect... in the -moment-."
He whispered the words like it was an adulation, pressing his fingers to her cheeks and stroking forward like he could call her to ease towards him with each soft movement.
"You're perfect. You. Are my moment." He leaned down to her.
She thought at first he was going to kiss her and her body stiffened under his touch, her eyes squeezing shut. But instead his lips bypassed her gagged lips and curved on her throat instead. Licking the delicate flesh and making her shiver. Swallowing, she strained to inch away from him even as bound as she was. She felt his hands pressing down on her shoulders to keep her in place and he angled over her, slinking like a cat that had found a perfect morsel to play with. Her breath hitched as she felt a soft sucking on her throat, nibbling and pulling slightly. It should have felt intense or creepy, but all she could feel was a heat blossoming under her skin where his lips were, making her colder everywhere else.
"My perfect childe." He whispered against her neck. "I'm going to show you the world. I promise, it will all be so beautiful. Just you and I together."
Her eyes widened as she felt a sharp prick and the gag was pulled from her lips, letting her let out a surprised moan. Even as she felt the man sucking on her neck, the heat inside her rose up and crested, flowing down along her body and making her shiver in delight. The man rose up and met her eyes, stroking her hair back from her face. He gently tapped his forehead to hers, his eyes closing as he seemed to lose himself in something. His breath was cold against her lips but he still didn't kiss her, he simply moved down to kiss her neck again and hungrily mouthed at the spot he'd bitten, sucking on the spot again.
Her bound hands reached for him, tugging at him, pulling him closer even as he all but melted against her. He was murmuring words of adoration and prayer against her skin in between the bites and suckles. She could feel a thick fog pushing into her mind and shivered at the images that flowered in her thoughts. Bright blossoms of moonlight paleness spread in her vision. The man on top of her continuing his gentle litany of supplication towards her. She felt dizzy and watched as the flowers spun across her gaze, following as petals fell away and drifted down to her cheeks. When she closed her eyes she felt multiple kisses being dropped on her supple skin and her jaw dropped as the man rose up over her.
"Sorry... I'm getting a little excited. ...but you like this, right? You like flowers?"
She smiled faintly and couldn't help but nod, sighing as his teeth sank into her neck again. She felt tired, dizzy and enthralled with the way that he used his tongue against her skin and pulled at her, his fingers darting across her shoulders and tugging at her shirt until the fabric ripped. Her heart beat faster even as she felt sluggish, quiet sounds rising from her throat and getting lose in the garden that he built up around her thoughts.
"You will be my only one. The sole childe I shall pour my heart and soul into." He bowed over her as her thoughts ebbed and flowed away from her.
She could feel her consciousness being buried and something poured into her. Thick as a snake it slipped down her throat, flexible and gentle, it chilled her down to the bone. Eased her into nothing at all and swallowed her up. She could feel her body swaying and being pulled at. Drawn downward and enveloped, swaddled in consecrated kisses and laved with a tongue that could only speak devotion and truth.
When she woke, it was to moonlight blossoms in her vision again. Strong arms holding her close and a mouth that was coaxing her to drink something thick once more. Her arms locked around him in turn and she lazily drank what he offered her. Her hunger consuming all of her thoughts and flying through her garden like a shrike. He smelled like pine and the promises made at midnight in the woods between lovers. His fingers played in her hair as she took what he offered, knowing that the sweetness was going to taste sour later.
How did she know that? The shrike dived through her questions and swept them away with razor sharp wings. Her legs came up, curled around his waist, kept him close to her, humming happily at the flavor that stoked the fires inside her. Fires that threatened to consume her garden unless she controlled it. She knew she had to do something to ease it all back down. A small voice whispered to her and she knew that it was -his-.
"Take it all, my childe. Every last drop is for you." He slurred, welcoming the sweetness of her Embrace and falling into her hunger. "I will always be yours..."
When she finished, she blinked in confusion as her arms were coated with ashes and she did her best to hug even those close to herself. She didn't have anything to put the ashes into, but she didn't really need it, did she? Licking her lips, she turned in her spot, looking around, listening to the shrike and catching sight of it fluttering and then diving behind moonflowers. Sated and now waiting for the next opportunity.
