The doctor tried to take the time to visit the children's hospital and clinics at least once a month to give back to the people of Dressrosa. Treating children of all ages and in all stages and types of conditions was always hard work, but it never failed to leave her feeling completely fulfilled. She was most passionate about her research, but getting to treat people in need of help weighed different in her spirit.

Encouraging everyone to go outside and get some sun, she joined patients and carers alike on a trip to the colorful gardens. Alice began teaching one of the girls how to make a flower crown and soon enough, all of the kids were engrossed in carefully picking each blossom and weaving them together. By the time they were safely back in their rooms, the hallways all smelled like flowers and grass.

Despite the exaustion, she made her way back to the castle in a wonderful mood as the setting sun painted the skies oranges and pinks. Her own crown still lay upon her head, as she did not have the heart to take it off even after leaving the hospital. But as she walked across the gorgeous courtyard, Alice reached up to remove it, not about to enter her King's most sacred domain while wearing a symbol meant only for him.

The deep bass of her King's voice came as a complete surprise, she hadn't felt his usual overwhelming presence nearby, and quickly removed her crown to offer him a proper bow. "Good evening, Your Majesty." Part of her was hesitant. Touching the flowers in His gardens alone would be a sin, let alone plucking them. But he'd given his order, and she was not about to question him over it. "Of course."

Setting her things down, she took out a pair of scissors and looked around. Forcing herself not to overthink, Alice pushed down any notion of flower languages and opted to go for aesthetics instead, picking full red peonies as the focal point and weaving them together with all sorts of smaller flowers and accents, falling into an almost meditative state as she poured her heart into decorating something for the person who meant the most to her, only marginally aware of the way his gaze followed her hands from behind the tinted lenses.

Twisting the final stem into place, she took a deep breath, not realizing she'd been holding it for longer and longer until then. The crown looked beautiful. Had it been for anyone else, she wouldn't have any trouble giving it away. "Nothing I made with my own hands could ever be enough, Your Majesty." Alice apologized with a small smile. "But I've done my best."

getting emotional over footage of an amateur scuba diver interacting with a coelacanth. they are hunted by large deepwater predators, and here comes a large creature bearing the brightest lights it's ever seen, making strange noises, but it does not shy away. it hovers, calmly, as the diver reaches out and trails a hand down its back. im strongly against the anthropomorphizing of real life animals but the stupid emotional part of me loudly insists this is because it recognizes us, the alternating movements of its four paired limbs matching the diver's four paired limbs, & it is thinking, "hello, cousins, we missed you these 66 million years, it's so good to see you again. welcome back, welcome home."
