Clair & Tobin

While I love the hilarity of Gray and Tobin competing for Clair’s attention as it becomes increasingly clear that Tobin… probably isn’t as into girls as he thinks he is, it does kind of seem odd that this relationship between the two of them is established without him having any real interaction with Clair. I mean, he even scolds Gray for the way he’s thinking about Clair before they even rescue her. So why not give Clair and Tobin an opportunity to interact? It would make more sense for their proposed relationship, and I think even if they don’t end up with any sort of romantic ending, it would be nice to see them forming some sort of meaningful relationship to supplement the canon Gray/Clair endings or the fan-beloved Gray/Tobin endings.

Faye & Celica

If you don’t recruit Faye and Kliff as Alm, you can actually return to Ram Village and recruit them as Celica. What’s especially sweet about it is that, in spite of Faye’s affection for Alm and apparent jealousy at the beginning of the game when everyone is young, Faye is actually delighted to see Celica again after all these years. Since so many of Faye’s existing supports are Alm-centric, I would love to see a support conversation where she deals with her conflicting emotions surrounding Alm and Celica. She still clearly cares about Celica as her friend, but as Celica also loves Alm, she would be forced to confront what matters most to her. Can she have both? If so, how? I feel as if it would humanize Faye a lot more, and give her something a little bit more to work with as a character.

Genny & Mae, Celica, and Boey

Not just Mae — Celica or Boey will do, too! It hurts me that Genny is the one character from this little foursome that has no additional support conversations with them. Why should she be left out?! She’s so sweet, too! I hope that she never felt left out when all of them were hanging out together over the years… So I’d really have loved for her to have a support or two where we got to see the nuances of her connection with everyone, how things came to be for her and them, and what she was doing when she found them. I’d love to see her gentle side match up alongside Celica’s, or maybe her shyness paired against Mae’s bounce, or maybe how she admires Boey’s steadfastness. Any of these would add a lot more power to the relationship between the group, and would be really strong!

Valbar & Kamui

So we know why Leon hangs around Valbar, right? I may not have gotten to that point in their supports yet, but I can’t help but wonder why we don’t really get to hear why Kamui follows Valbar. What’s their relationship like? Why have they decided to travel together? They should be an important part of each other’s lives in some way, and even if their dynamic does include Leon, it’s nice to see how the two of them are informed of it otherwise. Even if the two aren’t particularly close, I would love to see them taking the time to learn new things about each other, and starting to recognize the other more for the man that he is. I just think it’d be really interesting to have the whole trio in on things, you know?

Clair & Mathilda

That’s her sister-in-law!! How are they going to be canonically in-laws and have no supports? The fact that this is even a thing upsets me greatly. Considering the age gap between Clair and Clive, and the fact that they can’t support either, you could argue that the two of them just aren’t close. As a result, Clair and Mathilda don’t really know each other that well or haven’t had the opportunity… but at the same time, why wouldn’t they want to? They’re both family now, and according to Silque’s words in her support with Faye, there aren’t too many women fighting in the Deliverance. Wouldn’t Mathilda be a strong figure for Clair to look up to, especially with the way Clive talks about her? And wouldn’t Clair be someone that Mathilda would want to look out for, as another young woman in the war? I just feel like not giving these two a support is SUCH a missed opportunity.

The Pegasus Sisters & Literally Anyone Other Than Each Other

Don’t get me wrong. The Pegasus Sisters all have supports with each other is really important — nothing bothers me more than when clear family supports are missed — but I’d have liked to see how the Pegasus sisters have their personalities measured up against any of the other characters in Celica’s army. Do Est and Mae connect over their cheerful demeanour? Celica and Catria over their feelings of love and longing? Palla and Conrad over the protective role they share over their younger sisters? Again, I feel like it would just be something that really enriches their characters, and so I’d have really liked to see one between them and some of the other units.

Genny & Saber

I often hear and see it joked about that if Lukas is the babysitter to Alm and friends, then Saber is that to Celica and friends. And I agree, but I would love to see that in so much more of its entirety, because you can tell that he progressively grows to give a damn about what happens to these crazy kids. He’s always got Celica’s back when she needs it, and all she’s done initially is pay him. That’s why I think it would be really funny for him to have a support with Genny, because she’s one of the crew and she has a really sweet demeanour. She’s not afraid of a fight, and I think Saber would like that about her, and I could see the two of them having a sort of playful, uncle-niece relationship where he teaches her the right way to get in trouble. It would just be really silly and cute, and that’s why I’d like to see it. Pretty simple for this one!

Alm & Lukas

Alm’s a very impulsive person, and Lukas seems much more chill in comparison. However, Lukas can and does express a more cut throat attitude, and I think it’s quite interesting to think about how it would be measured up against someone like Alm. He mentions seeing himself as sort of a teacher to Alm and friends, so it would be intriguing for the game to consider what kind of an influence Lukas has on them. How does his calm nature influence things, and how does his willingness to fight back do the same? What does this teach Alm? And in the reverse, is he learning anything from Alm? It could be an interesting confrontation of each man’s morality, which can always be fun to explore in a Fire Emblem game. That’s why I think it’d be really great to see what these two could have to say to one another.

Title: Picnic by Candlelight

   The brisk evening with a sky full of violets speckled with stars was perfect for an al fresco outing.

   It was silly, perhaps even juvenile, but neither King Alm nor Queen Celica cared. Their servants had tried to convince them to have a banquet since their favourite guest was in their midsts but they knew her better. Far better. And so, a starlit picnic was decided upon. 

   They could only have these rural pleasures in fleeting splashes throughout the months and so, indulge they would. They wanted to make sweet and precious memories with their unconventional companion, no title given lest waves would be made and she didn’t particularly want to stand out.

   That companion being their dearest Faye.

   “Thank you, again, my dear for making the journey from Ram Village.” Celica said as she kissed Faye’s cheek.

   “I would go to the end of the world for Alm, and you, too, Celica, of course. For either of you, really,” Faye giggled, “it's truly my pleasure.”

   “Glad to hear it.” Alm replied.

   He shepherded both his lovers closer, it was the gentlemanly thing to do after all. Even if he was clumsy with how he divided his attention. It wasn’t a normal nor kingly thing to do, to take two wives. One in public and the other in secret. Though how secret it was remained to be seen given that the garden was adorned with guards, laced with servants, and plenty of eyes to see but they tried to keep it under wraps as best they could.

   Faye’s feelings… They could overcome even fate, separation, and wars. Her desire to be as close knit as she could to her beloved, it resonated and being a good friend of Celica, too, they found a way forward. All three of them. Some in ways which overlapped and other times, in ways that weaved all their relationships differently.

   But for now. There was a level of discretion necessary. Faye understood that and so, was included in whatever ways that she could. As far as the staff knew, she was just a friend visiting for vacation but she knew it would not be the guest suite that she would be retiring to after midnight. 

    Until then, Faye would simply have to wait as her heart burgeoned with anticipation of what was to come and enjoy the present as it, too, was a rare gift. She had all the faith in the world that Alm and Celica would welcome her warmly again later but for now. A certain decorum was necessary. Faye was a distinguished guest and only that, as far as anyone who needed to know could know.

  Their dates could only occur once a blue moon and Faye did not want to jeopardise her stays. It was such agonising sorrow to be parted from either Alm or Celica too long. So they had to behave themselves until the time to come undone, with festivity and excitement, was appropriate.

   So, on this calm and wondrous night, they set themselves down in the middle of the castle's gardens on a picnic blanket. It was a pale purple to match the dusky sky, it was laden with treats and a bottle of wine, candles were lit around to enhance the mood. The weather was mild, if a little cold, but it just made for an ever more perfect dusk for them to have to themselves on a date. 

   Here, amid the glimmering candlelights and atop this woollen picnic blanket in the dewy grass, politics fell to the wayside. As did nameplates and other stifling courtesies. When they were together like this, They became akin to how they were as children. A little jaded, yes, but free and innocent in the same breath.

   “We have a fine selection of delicacies tonight, Faye.” Alm said. “Foods from far and wide, excellent wine. Please, help yourself.” He gestured over the spread laid upon the wooden plank of the charcuterie board.

   From one end of it to the other, Faye’s eyes followed the path that Alm’s hand laid out. She gazed over generous mounds of cheese and even chocolate, various fruits and dried meats, little savoury biscuits and more. Her mouth watered just looking.

   But here was the thing about Faye and she knew this humbleness so well it became a vice. It was difficult to spoil her, and right now even, she felt as though she ought to deny the generosity. She pined for the simple things - fresh peeled oranges, homegrown, sugar cookies fresh from the oven and chilled spring water - but she accepted. She glanced at Celica, following her lead to the grapes first.

   “They’re delicious, Alm.” Celica said. She popped another grape in her mouth for good measure.

   Faye agreed wordlessly with a smile after she finished swallowing. The grape was sweet and juicy, truly a bounty of an agricultural region formerly of Zofia but now of Valm. Her heart stammered in her chest as she glanced between her two lovers to affirm the private joke within her thoughts. It was nice that Zofia and Rigel were united as they were, just like Celica and Alm respectively then her in the middle: enjoying the best of both worlds. 

   She watched, fondly, as Alm and Celica leaned into one another. Alm moved his arm behind Celica, inviting her into an angular embrace and their lips met in the middle with a kiss. It was a kiss fitting of a wedding vow. Faye took it upon herself to reach for the wine - it promised notes of peaches and roses - and poured three glasses. 

   “Thank you, dear.” Celica told her when she finished kissing Alm. 

   Faye doled out the wine. First to Alm, who acknowledged her with a nod, and then to Celica whose delicate fingers brushed along her own when she accepted the glass by its slender stem. 

   “To us.” Faye said.

   “To us.” Alm affirmed.

   Faye initiated the gesture again. She held up her wine glass to the middle and the other two kissed her own upon its rim. She would have her turn soon, in more privacy than what this picnic by candlelight would offer.

Roman:  “Didn't think you'd be able to win her over, make sure you treat her right y'hear.”

Ragna:  “Yeah, I know.”

Roman:  “But I got to ask, what made you interested in her?  She's got many good qualities, but which one did it for you?”

Ragna:  “Honestly, still trying to figure out myself.  I know I'm in love, but I don't know how it started.”

Roman:  “It was love at first sight, right?  Maybe it was her size.”

They both turn to Neo

[Neopolitan  (4'10)]

Torchwick:  “Her short size does bring out some of her cuteness.”

Ragna:  “Nah, that can't be…” (Thinks a bit)  “hmm… wait?”

Rachel (4’9):  “It seems like the old mutt needs to be disciplined.”

Celica (5’2):  “Don't worry Ragna!  I'll help you in any way I can!

Noel (5’1):  “Are you okay Ragna?  Would you like me to cook you something?”

Kokonoe (5’0):  “Hey dumbass!  Are you gonna take my advice or what!”

Ragna:  “…maybe.  I've had my experiences.”

Neo watches the two converse as she's just about finished with the drinks.

She then notices something and thinks to herself.

Neo:  ‘What do you know, they're both the same height.’

Nightmares

(Crimneo Skit)

Jin:  (jolts awake) “uh… what?” (Looks around)  “Where am I?”

Jin found himself sitting at what appeared to be a wedding ceremony.

Tsubaki:  “Jin?  Are you okay?”

Jin (confused):  “Tsubaki?  What's going on?”

Tsubaki:  “Why it's your brother's wedding of course!”

Jin (shocked):  “What?!”

Jin looks towards the alter and sees Ragna in a wedding suit.

Jin:  “BROTHER!?”

Jin tries to get up from his chair only to find himself tied to it by a rope.

Jin:  “What?!”

A piano begins to play.

Tsubaki:  “Oh, it's starting!”

Jin turns to see the bride stepping into the room and walking down the aisle.

Jin:  No…

The bride reaches the aisle and stands in front of Ragna.  Ragna then pulls back the veil, revealing the bride to be Neo.

Jin:  “No. Nonononono!  This can't be happening?!  This must be a dream!”

Ragna and Neo were going in for a kiss.

Jin:  “NO!  NO!!  NO!!!”

Jin shuts his eyes not wanting to see anymore, it was at that moment he sat up on bed, breathing heavily.

Jin:  (Heavy breathing) “Brother?” (Looks around) Must've been a... dream?

Jin found a gift next to his bed, along with a note.  He sat the gift on his lap and looked at the note that read:

“Didn't know how else to tell you this, but I figured this would be the safest option.  For us at least.”

Jin opened the gift and finds a shirt that read:

“Congrats!  Your an uncle!”

Jin:  … (heavy breathing)  aaaAAAAHHHH!!!

All of a sudden, Jin's consciousness began to fade.

Jin:  (wakes up)  “*gasp* Agai- ack!!”

Something lept onto Jin's back, cutting him off before he could finish.

Jin:  “Grrr…  What was-?” (Freezes)

Jin sees a little girl with white hair and heterochromia eyes hanging onto his back.

The girl pulls out a sign.

“Piggy back ride!!!”

Suddenly, two other kids started to grab onto Jin.  A little pink haired boy held onto his arm, while a little brown haired girl stuck herself onto his leg.

Jin was freaking out as he tried to shake them off him.  Out of the corner of his eye he saw Ragna by the door, holding Neo by her waist.

Ragna:  “Thanks for agreeing to watch over them.  It's hard to find a babysitter with how much of handful they are.”

Jin:  “Wait!  I never-!”  (Falls to the ground)  “Oof!”

Jin tries to get up, but failed.  As he looked at the kids he saw their faces, more importantly their smile, that same smile as… her.

Jin (furious):  Grrr… Noooo!!!

Jin's consciousness began fade once more.

Jin:  (wakes up)  “*gasp*  WHAT NOW?!!!”

Celica:  “They're coming.”

Jin:  “What?”

Jubei:  “Get ready.”

Jin:  “WHAT'S GOING ON?!!!”

Jin looks around and sees that he is in a living room with the likes of Celica, Jubei, Noel, Tsubaki, and Makoto.  They all appeared to be worried and were trying to prepare for something.

At the moment he heard noises coming from the front door, noises that sounded like a crowd of people were running.

The door slams open and out comes thirty kids from varying ages storming inside the room.

Jin:  “oh… NOOO!!!”

Jin got swept up in the wave of children along with everyone else.

Jin:  “GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME!!!”

Some of the kids pulled out signs that read:

“We missed you too, Uncle.”

Ragna walked in the room with Neo cuddling his arm.

Ragna:  “Hey! Guess what, we're having another set of triplets!”

Celica (Exhausted):  “That would make…”

Jubei (Disbelief):  “Thirty-three…”

Jin couldn't believe what he was hearing.

Jin:  “How…?  How could she…?  To go this far…”

Jin realized just how far Neo went with his brother.

Jin:  “HOW COULD SHE DO THIS TO US, BROTHEEEER?!!!”

Jin jolts awake in his room.

Jin:  “AHHH!!!”  (Heavy breathing)  “Neo…  Damn YOU!!!  I won't let you have your way with him!  I WILL END YOU!!!”
