HANSE HEADCANONS

genre. fluff. headcanons. warnings. these are kinda disorganized rly random but oh well. pairing. hanse x reader. wc. 803. request. not officially requested by still requested by @eternalgyu <3 a/n. i miss victon sm goodbye... (but first hanse fic so yay)

hanse has always noticed that you eye his tattoos. especially after you’ve been dating for a little while and got more comfortable with each other, you’re more obvious with your stares. but you’re still too scared to ask for a tour, and hanse thinks it's cute, that you’re so shy about it, not wanting to pressure him.

he offers to show you them up close one evening. you listen intently as he tells you the meaning behind each one, giggling at how some of them were honestly dares or jokes. he lets you trace each one, not leaving out how he had covered old ones with new ones. it starts out with just the ones on his left arm, but when he sees that you’re still curious about the ones he got on his chest and back, he isn’t shy to take off his shirt and show you. you’re a little shy being met with his bare back and chest, but also in awe of both his muscles and the pretty black ink decorating his soft skin.

after that you start to make it your habit to trace his tattoos. it’s soothing, both to you and hanse. he likes it more than he would admit, and in a way it makes him feel loved and pretty to you. to see that you’re so in love with the artwork on his skin, that you don’t think it’s too much or weird, it makes his chest feel warm.

you feel the same way about his piercings, and are always excited when you find cool new jewelry for him to try. some days he goes without his lip ring, but on days that he is wearing it, he can tell that you get a little extra clingy. kissing him and feeling the cool metal against your skin never gets old. 

hanse has his own unique style, and you love to play around with it with him. it’s always heavily reliant on black. he’s experimented a lot in the past to find what he likes best and what feels like him, and he found that black is exactly what feels right. knowing that colour is often out of the picture, when you style him, you like to add elements of texture instead. spiky chokers and bracelets, silver or black rings, even pretty belts. it’s fun to match with accessories, even if you both have opposite senses of style.

if you like your outfits to be colourful, you can still match with jewelry. or, if you like black outfits like hanse, he’ll buy you matching shirts so you can have fun styling it in different ways. while most of the time your boyfriend adorns black band shirts, tank tops, or hoodies, accessorised to the max with shiny silver, sometimes he does like to wear more traditional clothes. button ups or white t-shirts, occasionally a suit or sweater. it’s rare, but you love it all the same as his usual aesthetic. 

if hanse had to describe his relationship with you, it would be comfort and laughter. you’re his person. someone who loves him just the way he is, who doesn’t expect or want anything outside of what he already offers. you make him smile, you make him laugh, you make him feel so in love every day. one look at your eyes and he can feel that things aren’t as bad as they seem, that they’ll be okay as long as you’re with him. you make him forget about his worries and allow him to live in the moment, to enjoy every second he gets to spend.

you’re so connected emotionally that any time you have to spend apart from your boyfriend is rough. you’re used to being around him all the time— having almost everything you do in a day accompanied by your favourite person in the entire world. you make do with texting and calling as often as you can. you’d spend hours on video call, even if you were outside running errands. it doesn’t compare to actually being together, but it’s enough to make it bearable. 

you know that despite his appearances, your boyfriend has a very soft heart. he’s empathetic and scared of a lot of things, but you help him overcome things that once terrified him. you slowly become his home. and overtime he can barely remember what his life looked like without you; only that it could never compare to what he has now. hanse thinks you’re precious. he adores you, frankly. he’s not ashamed that he’s absolutely whipped, that everytime he sees you his eyes light up, or that he’ll never get tired of telling you that he loves you. it’s a truth that will never change, and he’d shout it out for the whole world to hear if he could.

Also, (I haven’t played the full game myself) but doesn’t bg3 make it a point to say how illithids are capable of being their own unique people if given the chance? Sounds like anon would rather make sweeping shallow statements on a race without thinking much deeper on that. A huge talking point of dnd nowadays is looking past the borderline racist original depictions of evil-aligned races and finding something good and fun and compelling about them. This is why we have orcs that defy their “evil dumb” archetype and vampires and drow capable of good and tieflings in so many different colours!! 😂 Im so sorry for the tangent in your inbox but free your mind anon!! kiss an illithid! I was nervous to post that art of my character because it was my first time showing her off and I thought people will be weirded out by it (I had meant to post some kind of character design reference sheet explaining her Deal, first, but... I got bit by a galemance fixation......) but I won't let one single rude anon spoil my fun, I was actually blown away by how many notes that art got and how enthusiastic people have been in the tags about illithid tavs!! 🥰

I agree with you that since the very beginning of D&D it's been a grand tradition that the monster manual will say that some monster race is ALWAYS evil and there will be always be the people who look at that and go "okay, but what if there were a good one of them though" lolol. While drow and orcs and so on have been thoroughly moved into the category of "just people who have a different culture" for a while at this point, it's a lot harder to justify a non-evil alignment** for an eldritch sci-fi alien that is required to consume sentient creatures to live and is biologically hardwired to dominate and mind control... but damn if Larian didn't take a look at that and do so ANYWAYS, with ~three completely different characters no less. IMO it's a big part of the themes of this game to look at a supposed "monster" and be forced to see the nuance in them. [i mean, just look at the dark urge's character arc!!! if that person can be a hero despite their innate biological bent towards evil, why can't a mind flayer?]

**ngl vennet miiiight be neutral evil, if i rly had to put her on the alignment scale i'm btwn that and true neutral, but she was Bad before the ceremorphosis lmao. sorry if i tricked anyone with how cute her & gale are but also she's essentially a 'mad scientist' character and if anything becoming a mind flayer Fixed Her. lol

wuwa rambles incoming, on the negative side ish (?)

so i also ended up downloading wuwa to test it out despite being fairly confident in the assessment that it Will not be a long term thing for me (and yeah stand behind that one after day 1 and some today) and like

firstly yes the state of the game is in shambles lmao like it really wasnt finished in time for release in terms of performance and polish At All. on my side luckily the overall experience has been more or less okay on medium graphics with some glitches and a total of two crashes but its still like. this isnt an optimized game at all. ppl rly have been taking genshin being incredibly cautious with new systems and additions (so that the game actually Functions) for granted i suppose 💀 and or consistently taken the most uncharitable angle towards it . like yes we shouldve had xyz since forever but i 100% believe theres actual spaghetti code behind things taking long and that hoyo genuinely wants to be very careful w it for good reason. but yeah artifact presets where still

secondly as much as the world is like, pretty and vast with many sceneries that make for a beautiful vignette to Look at and all kinds of trinkets to run towards and engage w for that quick dopamine release, i think the fact that the story and lore of the world is just so fucking inconsequential and terribly communicated makes it just. Incredibly hard to Feel anything for it. its like a cake with stunning decorations except u take a bite and realize its all just fondant and no actual flavor. its just there. i dont have any thoughts nor feelings for it bc the worldbuilding is such a failure that i care neither for this place nor the characters whose stories are supposed to be selling me on the entire game. and that really sucks bc this place really Does look stunning in places and i Wish they would give me something to care about but its just the backdrop for the (admittedly fun) pokemon echo farm and ur exploration progress and the combat system

character-wise i also just dont mesh with vast majority of them much. they dont stand out enough from one another and no one except for like scar has actually made me very intrigued about anything at all regarding the world. designs vary from ugh to fine with some that i do like but they still arent like . the kind of Instant recognizable design that just Hits. they look fine but they lack the (jenshin) impact that makes you want to forfeit ur mortal possessions to them

now there is One (1) exception to this to be fair and thats sanhua but thats Literally just bc she is so fucking gender envy to me design wise. like its almost perfect just like that. literally if only her top wasnt open in the back . Id wear that shit SO hard for My scifi fantasy waves that wuther self insert oh my god. she looks like a middle school OC id make JSJSKSKDKUSKDK i love herrr literally the only reason i continue playing tbh . And she has ice powers too she is literally made For Me 💀

(jen forbidden lore tldr a niche finnish Banger of a fantasy book series that rewired my brain at 10 had an Excellently written girl protag who among other things gained op draconic ice powers of eternal winter and since then that simply became My main character daydream self elemental power of choice Always hsjsjsjskvkd)

the combat i think is where wuwa stands out and it definitely lets u engage more with the enemies. like ultimate evasion and counters Feel satisfying and building up ur characters unique mechanic like sanhuas ice constructs for her powered up charge atk Feels satisfying i def think theres a lot of potential there but in terms of A Future Meta in a gacha that wants money idk where things would ultimarely go in the future. but ya that stuff is solid.

enemy designs are also cool but suffer from that same lack of context to make me intrigued w the world theyre a part of. like cool eldritch creature ig but it doesnt give heebie jeebies the same way as seeing like. the husks in the chasm for the first time. where u instantly go oh fuck How. Why. Who were they. bc u know there Will be a relevant answer . etc . which is a shame. make me fear for my life smh

anyway for me my pulls have been like ridiculously bad i am genuinely not joking that getting sanhua on my first starter banner multi is the only reason i stuck w it. like. prior to this morning and getting aalto from the 20 free pulls . i have not received a Single non f2p new 4*. i have chixia c3 who i do Not like. yangyang c2. baizhi c1. Literally i kid you not the other new 4* i pulled today was . Yuanwu. so like considering the event and log in thats also c1 yuanwu c1 sanhua (latter of which i obvi have no issue w). and then my starter 5* was the worst case scenario 💀 Walmart gaming i mean. if u think hes cute cool but i am not at All enthused. id have taken Anyone over him lmao

so thats fun . i mean its fine im not gonna play long term i like sanhua and playing her w baizhi and someone like yangyang or aalto its fine for what i intend to do w it for now. & none of the future 5* rly appeal to me either

ultimately the game definitely has potential but it just. released too soon in a shoddy state and in many ways (mostly relating to its open world) i think is too reliant on just resembling genshin without actually innovating on top of that foundation or distinguishing itself from it. and the failure of its story to make players care about its world At All doesnt help. Do i think the world and lore are shit w 0 potential? well obviously no bc its so poorly communicated i cant even fucking tell you what it is About. but any possible potential there was definitely not utilized how it should so eh

now personally i have absolutely no horse in this toxic drama clownfest of a gacha game war arms race other than its not worth the time nor effort. so i truly have no particular feelings of fervent support nor some schadenfreude about kuro and for competitions sake i Do hope they manage to salvage the situation and that wuwa manages to flourish in the end but ironically enough the genshin "killer" number two more or less seems to have went the way of the other one aka ToF. so thats something i suppose lmao

Like there is something very painfully ironic about it all and it is hysterical in that sense. at least that much i can admit hsiajsks. But truly if some ppl find that wuwa offers them sth better than genshin then good for em, dont let my highly lukewarm reception ruin ur enjoyment. just end the fucking drama farm and disingenuous claims to gas up ur own cope and hype

(and to be clear. i would Not have played like 8 hours yesterday if i wasnt genuinely engaged w trying the game out and having fun lol. its just very clear to me that this early rush of ADHD dopamine oh new game new things to burn through new exploration shinies short term quick fun is very likely all wuwa is going to have on offer for me personally)

first off i wanna say; its ok to ask questions and i do very much welcome them when it comes to anything i make, but do keep in mind this is first and foremost just a character design thing i made up bc i wanted smth each islander has as their own but looks about the same and is easy to draw

i have put thought into this of course but u see, the funny thing is-- the charm not actually practical at all for a place like isla quesadilla . theres some small "just for the fun of it" perks (as any statistic/visualizer thingy does), but all in all it is just a simple visualizer that in reality does more harm for the islander (as in, u have the chance to literally lose ur knowledge to speak if u break it) than good

im someone whos super into the trope(?) of "everyone has an item that looks almost identical but is a visualizer to an attribute of the person, so its still unique and personal", bonus points if the item has dire consequences if u r irresponsible with it (like for example rn i just remembered the thingies they had in madoka magica, like those yknow) . oh and even more bonus points if each character has their own little way of wearing the item on their design to further show off their personality

so yeah i feel like i need to emphasize these charms r just a silly thing i made for the sake of character design and dont have much depth to them . also as someone who knows 4 languages fluently i just think itd be rly cute to be able to see how well i know my languages in a vial of liquid haha

thats such a beautiful quastion i honestly remember having wanted to live in pretty much every single game ive ever played no matter the genre but probably subnautica..i literally don't care that i would be stranded on an alien virus infected planet completely alone with nothing but sea creatures ranging from adorable to mindbendingly horrifying to keep me company and no hope of a rescue i would literally be thriving i think...... i was born to live the faceless subnautica man lifestyle

30. favorite aspect of a game (e.g. exploration, combat, fashion/customization, environments, graphics, bosses, roleplaying, etc.)

(is it gonna be really really genuinely annoying and horrible if i say gambling......i know its not an actual aspect at all but i mean this completely genuinely whenever a game has a gambling mechanic or even just some kind of undercover mission where you need to win at poker or sth it immediately becomes a hundred times better in my eyes like there are only a few game worlds within which gambling wouldn't make sense otherwise you can only benefit from adding in like a weird guy who sits in the corner of a pub who allows you to gamble. you have nothing to lose)

but okay im gonna answer in a less lame fashion and go one by one in like a process of elimination so exploration = good but also becomes a stressful and tedious process when a world is annoyingly big bc you're always Missing something and at some point it always turns into only caring abt unchecking boxes and crossing locations off a list than genuinely caring abt what they have to offer. combat & bosses = depends on how finely tuned the combat mechanics are in the game obvs if they're horrible or have aged rly badly then i only thoroughly enjoy it like 50 hours into the game once i have bent the gameplay to my will but if it's good (like in current cyberpunk 2077 for example) then im literally attacking everything that moves bc its fun and awesome and im good at it. environments = sometimes face the same problem as the exploration aspect but when they are truly truly unique and distinct and feel completely different from each other i rly love just going around and soaking up the atmosphere of different locations. graphics = not that important to me i think liking a game purely because of its graphics is one of the shallowest things the human psyche is capable of obvs it sucks when a game is borderline unplayable bc its appearance makes you want to vomit (like this game called black and white does anyone remember black and white.....) but there are sooooooooo many gems that also happen to look like garbage but that shouldnt make you want to not play them... give old bad looking games a chance....... for me

and i think through the process of elimination i have arrived at the conclusion that my fav aspect is fashion / customization & roleplaying all at once i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE roleplaying not even for like major game defining decision stuff but mostly when it allows you to do the most mundane things like having tea in the morning and making your bed and doing chores and petting dogs and picking up your hat when it gets knocked off and fashion & customization kind of ties into that as well im always like well michael gta wouldn't wear these sunglasses because he hates them (source: my mind)..... arthur would never wear this fancy dress shirt and top hat bc he doesn't bathe enough etc. like my preferences for what i would actually like to see a character wear come AFTER what i think the character itself would want to wear. but yeah to put this whole insanely long thing very briefly roleplaying is my favorite aspect

as for growing up, wow i was obsessed with the water / swimming like i wanted to be a mermaid so bad. i did dabble in some video games bc of my older siblings but i vividly remember playing the dsi. i had a mint green one with nintendogs, fashion designer, cooking mama , the sims and a lot of other games… i miss that time. but i think i played outside a lot more than being inside !!! a very fun fact about my fam is a lot of us live on the same road so me and my cousin would all ride bikes around the neighbourhood, to the nearest park and to corner stores for snacks and drinks and stuff. we also caused a lot of trouble as kids🤕

Was today meant to be some sort of special event? It seemed that way because for some reason wherever you went there was somebody trying to gamble. Somebody trying to grab your hand and pull you into what you would consider to be- a death trap. You weren’t good at gambling, but you never had to be. The most skillful girls in the school always protected you and played for you.

A nickname sprouted from that, and it was that you were their guarded princess. Maybe that’s what made people want to gamble so much with you. The aura surrounding you was untouchable. And today that aura was being enforced roughly with little to no room for error.

It was 9am. You were already rubbing your eyes and yawning after only being in class for 20 minutes. Yumeko sat beside you glancing at you every few seconds with the occasional giggle. You would always try and sneak a glance but quickly looked away, your eyes darting to whatever thing you could find. Your shy mannerisms were Yumeko’s favorite things about you. The way you steered away from what she gravitated towards made her love you even more. You were unique.

After class you quickly grabbed your things only to be stopped by another girl in your class you had never even talked to. As quickly as she grabbed your hand you snatched it back, with an immediate apology.

“Sorry! Um..what did you need?” You asked trying not to seem mean. You couldn’t help it though, you just wanted to be anywhere else.

“Oh! I just thought we could gamble! I’ve been dying to try and play you~” she requested with a soft tone. It almost felt fake. But something felt very real. And that was the yank on your sleeve. You turned around and saw Yumeko looking at the other girl with a smile.

“Hi, she’s actually quite busy! With me.” Yumeko spoke with a hint of aggression in her voice. Her eyes glowing with something you hadn’t seen before. It was almost...primal.

“Oh...are you two going to gamble?” She asked as if it was any of her business. In your mind you were so outgoing, and you were a lot better. However in this situation you just stood there. Awkwardly shifting your feet as the two seemed to stare each other down.

“Ah no, we’re going to go to see the President!” Yumeko said as you looked at her quickly. Was she being serious? You couldn’t tell.

“O-oh! I will let you get to it then...bye!” She squeaked and hurried off to join a random group of girls who seemed to go find somebody else to have their fun with.

As she had said Yumeko did take you to the President but she had to go to her next class. She explained to Kirari that people were being too much for you, and you needed a break. Whether you did or didn’t wasn’t the matter at hand. It was that people didn’t know their place with you. Underneath you. As the meeting went on you could feel Kirari grab your hand and give it comforting touches and she even at one point...patted your head? You didn’t know if it was because she wanted to show you off (for whatever reason she likes to do that.) Or because she generally thought you were overwhelmed but you didn’t mind. In fact, you had loved it. Quickly however, you had to go to your next class as you couldn’t miss two in a row and expect to be okay with all that work once you got home.

“Sorry Kirari, I have to go.” You whispered as she listened to Midari talk about how she misses a thrill once again.

“Alright darling but be safe. Actually, Midari.” She announces sternly making you jump from the sudden change in tone.

“Yea? What did you need president?” She said with a bit of teasing in her tone of voice, as per usual.

“Take her to her classe, too many commoners think they can gable with her.” Kirari ordered and Midari’s eyes glowed. She enjoyed teasing you any way she could because your reactions were always the cutest to her.

“Will do! Come on sweet thing~” she purred as she grabbed your hand and dragged you out of the room. It was like rush hour in that hallway but somehow you were still stopped even with Midari by your side.

“Hey, you wanna come gamble? I need a new house pet and you seem like the perfect one” Some boy said and you could tell it was meant to be an insult based on the boys in the background laughing at you like some tourist attraction. Midari immediately stepped beside you, grabbing your waist.

“Sorry boys, she’s with me today. If you’d like to gamble, you could come with me and a bit of Russian roulette could be in order?! Who knows, maybe one of your pretty little brains will splatter~” Midari pondered, with a blush prominent on her cheeks. The boys immediately grimaced at her.

“Oh great it’s miss freak. No thanks we’re good” The main one rolled his eyes as him and his crew of students walked away.

“Thank you, that wasn’t something you had to do y’know?” You said, trying to emphasize that it was really nice of her to do it by choice.

“No problem sweet thing, besides, I don’t like Russian roulette on it’s own, it’s boring.” She says and you laugh as she smiles at you. And after she finally takes you to her class you are filled with thoughts on how lucky you are to be able to have such a great group of people to help you in such a school.

Oooo idk if I’ve thought about it like this before. What I can say is I don’t think there’s anything wrong with craving the “classic” kind of chivalry or romance!! Romance now can be different than in the past, but with that, the romance you want/need can and should be unique to you; it doesn’t necessarily have to be what’s “in” if that makes sense? Your preferences can also change and have a range—if having doors opened for you, and also having matching socks are both romance to you, then so be it!

As far as why there seem to be trends to romance, or why romantic ideals shift, it probably has to do with sociocultural changes, particularly when it comes to women and their rights/wants/needs. That being said, my first point still stand—it’s totally okay to craft your own idea of romance, and diff things can/should mean diff things to everyone!!

Later on, they decided to retcon them and make some content contradicting the old canon. But in regards of the Jedi I don’t find them contradicting much. The books simply give a deeper insight to some Jedi than the movies and shows. After all, Jedi are individual beings, each with a unique story.

Are you rly saying you hate the books just because they don’t paint the Jedi overall as perfect code-following angels, but as complex people instead? What kinda argument is this? Have you not seen the movies as well? Basically every Star Wars movie (and most shows) is about the struggle many Jedi are in and how literally no main character ever really, always follows the unrealistic Jedi codex, because it clashes with their personal needs and the world they live in too much.

May I add: They took a bunch of space monks and made them generals - the start of the war was a mess because of it, they lost so many troopers because of horrible decisions made by all the unexperienced Jedi. And wtf, who can blame them? They were’s space monks, not military. It was incredibly hard for them. Many of them were scared and overwhelmed – which civilian wouldn’t be? The entire idea was nuts right from the start, Palps knew that and had fun with it. It’s canon that the Jedi are aware they keep losing so many battles because of their codex. But they eventually learned and adapted (usually by chosing to override their codex to be able to test new strategies, they even discuss that on-screen in TCW (season 4 I think?)).

Etain, the young Jedi who tortured that guy in the RepComm book wasn’t remorseful either btw. She analysed the situation they were in and made a hard decision, then systematically went through with it (for hours on end) for the greater good. We only know about her thinking “I’d rather not” because of her inner monologue – but well, you don’t have that on a TV show.

No, I did not say that the “Jedi (!) all agree”. I said “everyone involved”, which were different people from different backgrounds: Mandos, troopers and a human Jedi. All of them had the same moral compass: They knew torturing people wasn’t cool, that’s a no-brainer. But they also knew they were in the middle of a war.

Forcing characters to make decisions outside their comfort zone is what makes them interesting, three-dimensional, relatable and realistic. Everyone needs to be allowed to make tough decisions, to struggle, to suffer, to make mistakes - and to learn from their experiences and grow in the process.

And please remember: You don’t have to morally “be on their side” right from the start to find a fictional character interesting and their story worth telling.

how they met

so ghoul and jet meet uhh. in an. interesting way..... so jet and kobra r the first two of the fab four to meet so they basically start a mini-crew before poison and ghoul join. so one day, jet and kobra are out on a supply run to test out kobra's new vend-a-hack and things. happen.

to make a long story short, a newly-escaped (and. Extremely Dehydrated and desperate) ghoul decided it would be a good idea to. attempt to rob some killjoys?? man was desperate alright. so xe. climbed up onto the vending machine and jumped on top of kobra while he was distracted w the vend-a-hack.

a let me paint u a picture here bc im not sure if this is clear: imagine you're out on an early morning supply run before it gets too hot w ur one and only crewmate, someone uve known for quite a while now. ur out here to test a new device he's made!! something that'll make it easier to steal from BLi, so obviously u both decided to try it out asap. and while u have ur back turned tending to your half-broken motorbike, you hear the shriek of your crewmate, spin around, and see a teenager with greasy black hair (no, literally grease, like that's fucking motor oil in their hair) currently on top of your crewmates shoulders wrestling w him while holding a mildly pointy pen in their hand held (uselessly) like a knife to ur crewmates throat.

so that's how ghoul and jet met achsbscshsbs ghoul attempted to rob them and jet was like COOL!! let's take them home (much to kobra's displeasure having just been "violently attacked" by a "fucking sharp-toothed city kid." to be fair, ghoul did bite him).

literally nearly impossible to ever find them not physically touching in some way. whether they're leaning against one another in a fire fight, in a tangle of limbs lounging around at the diner, or bumping shoulders/hands while working on their own separate projects-- they're almost always within each other's space

ghoul likes to make bracelets and other jewelry and jet tends to sit still a lot just reading or writing. so there's a lot of lazy afternoons where ghoul is making jewelry literally onto jets wrist while jet just sits around chatting idly abt what they're reading

jet knows nothing abt mechanical shit but loves to sit around in the garage w ghoul if she's ever feeling lonely out there. which is a lot of the time

ghoul knows nothing abt the stars but loves to sit on the roof w jet and hear them infodump abt all their favorite constellations

oh my god they get into arguments so much

they get along incredibly well but are so concerned for one another, mainly when it comes to firefights

jet is very bold but also values his crew mates above all else and wants to ensure that they all make it out of the fight alive. she's lost too many people in the past to be careless in a fight

ghoul on the other hand is reckless and will throw xemself out into danger at any chance. they want to go down swinging and they dont value her life as much. he doesn't want to die, but it's more abt trying to prove that she's a "real killjoy" because xe was previously a scarecrow apprentice

they fight a lot abt keeping one another safe in fights, arguing either of their points to no end

what tends to solve these is one of them finding the other and sitting down wordlessly for a little while. these situations usually end w a quiet hug and a lot of tears

the arguments are always out of concern and they both understand that. it's just hard to see the other's perspective and accept that sometimes

gifts

oh these bitches love gifts (both giving and receiving)!!!

as i mentioned above, ghoul loves making jewelry but also likes making little trinkets and metal figures. hes hardly ever keeps anything xe makes and instead will put it on the others or put up the figures as decorations in the diner

jet loves to write, but not poetry or stories. she likes creating rly beautiful calligraphy of random shit their crew has said. it's a lot of fun to see whatever new curse ghoul has invented written in fancy script

jet also believes strongly in beads and has made each of the fab four a strand

ghoul is the type of gift giver that will basically straight up ask you hey do u want this? so there's no surprise w his gifts (though they are still just as wonderful)

jet however will keep a secret to her grave in order to surprise their crew mates with a gift

firefights

despite their differences, their unique strategies rly do work well together in fights

ghoul tends to go to the edges of the fight and take out dracs before they're anywhere near the crew

jet stays closer to the center, keeping mindful of cover and taking out any dracs that ghoul missed in xir reckless attacks

but they can both take down a patrol very effectively, even without the venom siblings with them (which is why ghoul and jet tends to get paired off for supply runs so often)

(not so) fun fact: it's no coincidence the metaphor works that way either. there's recent marijuana research revealing that there's not much of a difference between what we consider indica and sativa.

How do you get people to always buy your dragons? Genuine question

i was gonna say something like “haha i have no fucking clue” but that would be a lie i think about this a lot actually so i might have some insights i’ve been breeding dragons as my primary activity on FR since i started playing FR (in 2014...) and people have only started actually buying dragons from me consistently like, 5-6 months ago, despite 2-3 attempts at running a genuine hatchery onsite that always died due to lack of interest & not really being worth the effort. 

so ive thought a lot about what the hell is happening now and why my dragons are suddenly consistently selling and I think ive come down to these being the main points of advice i can give: 1. make friends! be friendly! don’t be weird! be a cool and fun person to interact with! 2. post consistently. post your dragons consistently. post about other stuff consistently. just be an active member of the community 3. POST YOUR SHIT IN THE “#FLIGHT RISING” TAG. THIS IS PROBABLY THE ONLY TRUELY HELPFUL THING I SAY IN THIS POST 4. make pairs that are sexy as hell and be openly proud of them. make dragons and pairs that you like, not what you think will necessarily sell. people can tell when you like stuff and being genuinely passionate about something, whatever the fuck it is, will get other people passionate as well longer versions/explanations under the cut because man this got a mile long. i wasn’t kidding when i said i think about this a lot and i am so sorry if you wanted something concise and useful

1. to be a little glib. i am mutuals/friends with more clout in the FR community than I do kjdshfdsfdhjhkfdf shoutout to everyone who draws their dragons really good on a regular basis because i am riding on your coattails to sell my dragons. i love you this was never my intent, obviously! 2. being consistent! just. posting consistently! posting Every Hatchling I Have and Talking About Them On Tumblr!  Once I had a couple nests just sell super fast likely due to aforementioned clout, i was emboldened to just post more of my nests more often and I swear this has more effect than anything else. i just needed the self-esteem boost to Start Doing That posting consistently makes ppl follow u for ur content which gets even more people to look at your dragons which gets more people to buy your dragons.

2a. Also just post a lot in general, even if you aren’t necessarily posting about your dragons for sale. it definitely helps! just be friendly and active and people will come

3. post your shit in the tag. not in “#dragon-sales” or “#fr-dragon-sales” or anything weird like that because I don’t know if anyone actually looks at those, but people definitely browse “#flight rising”. no matter how many followers you have, more people will see your content if you post it in #flight rising than if you just chuck it into the void.

3a. however! do not put links into the post if you want it to actually show up in the tag. tumblr is cool in that it doesn’t actually matter that much when you post something, the same way it really matters on twitter bc twitter has algorithms that decide for you what it thinks you want to be seeing whereas tumblr just shows you everything in chronological order. if you post something into the tag at 1am... it will still be there at 2pm when people log on and start scrolling.

the only thing tumblr seems to consistently hide from a tag (and possibly a dashboard, but idk) are posts with links in them, as a half-assed attempt to limit spam. instead of linking to your sales tab/to the dragons directly in the post, reblog it with the links instead. to reduce latency between a post going up and the links being available, i type out the links in the initial post, cut them, post the thing into the tag, then very quickly reblog, paste the links, and post the reblog jdhfsdf. i don’t know if that benefits anything really? but it can sometimes take me a while to type links, so if i posted, pressed reblog, typed up all the links, then posted, it’d be like ~15 minutes where someone may see the post, think “oh i would like to buy those dragons”, then can’t find the link, think “oh well, i will just find it later”, scroll on, and just... completely forget about it. so uh. go quick?

3b. the armchair sociologist in me also thinks self-reblogging has the added benefit of like... you know how people are more likely to tip a barista when a dollar is already in the tip jar? or how people are more likely to take one of those little tabs on a flyer if one of them is already missing? i think that works with notes, too. i don’t know why i think that or why it happens i just swear once a post gets 1 note, suddenly it gets Even More Notes, and if it doesn’t get any notes for a while it will sit at 0 notes until the end of time. so giving yourself 1 obligatory note makes people more likely to interact. i think

4. all of these are hard to quantify but this one is especially so: have cool and unique dragons. make your pairs sexy as hell. don’t put all your eggs (hah) into the one basket of selling dragons that are technically “popular”. we have all seen triple white/triple obsidian/triple orca/triple any other popular colors and cherub/pere/stained or wasp/bee/glim pthahlos or whatever. they’re pretty! we get it! but everyone has had one and everyone has had those pairs and market for dragons like that can be super oversaturated. try to break free from that and sell dragons that people can only get from you. I can’t tell you what to do though bc that rly depends on you. make pairs that you find exciting or interesting and people will feel that. i have a very specific theme and aesthetic that i don’t feel like is especially common on FR and i am genuinely very enthusiastic about it. marine shit is my Thing:tm: both on and off FR and dragons are one of my many ways of expressing that   if you have a Thing:tm:, either some fr-centric aesthetic (like being super into plague or earth or light or something) or something more general (such as any of the -punks or -cores)... just fuckin roll with it honestly. if you’re goth? make got h dragons. like scene stuff that looks straight out of a middle school in 2010? rock that hot-topic lair. outdoorsey type? make dragons that look like you’d meet them on a hike in the woods. it really works with anything!  people can tell when you really love something and i know that seeing someone really love something, even if it’s not necessarily MY thing, makes me really excited too!!

4a. never show fear. people can smell fear. never be like “well this one isn’t that good” because suddenly now you’ve planted the idea that it’s ugly in other people’s heads when they may have really liked it had you not accidentally suggested to them that it’s an ugly dragon. people are EXTREMELY suggestible to even VERY minor cues so be always a little bit bolder than you think you should be you’d be surprised at how many times ive been like “eh, this one’s kind of a dud, i’ll probably have to exalt this one when the auction expires” and then that hatchling is the first to sell. never ever ever ever decide what other people like for them. always act like your dragons are the hottest shit in all the land and Believe It. this is what people mean when they say “fake it till you make it”

- 4b. also, idk if it’s true of everyone but it’s really off-putting to see someone having serious pity-parties for themselves, on sales posts or otherwise. ive had bad experiences with people who are uncomfortably quick to self-depreciate (because they were using their genuine self-hatred to manipulate me or my friends), so i might be a little more trigger-happy about avoiding this behavior than others, but don’t weaponize your sadness to guilt people into doing what you want. it’s really not cool.

i don’t post about all the times i have to exalt dragons that don’t sell. you are seeing me being very selective about what i post. you dont sit and stare at my lair or click through offspring lists or check old sales posts. there are a lot of times where someone just doesn’t sell. even now when i’m selling stuff pretty consistently i will still sometimes have dragons that don’t sell for seemingly no reason. even dragons I think are sure to sell will sometimes just... not. and that’s ok! you gotta just be.. ok with that. it’s par for the course. i typically list dragons for 7 days on the AH, give them a couple more days after their auction expires (partially because i forget, partially to give them a grace period for people to pm/ask me about them), and then exalt them after that point. w/ some dragons that i don’t think got a fair shake for one reason or another (such as the sales post not showing up in the tag or something) i do a little clearance (like the halloween dragons i recently posted) but for the most part if they don’t sell, i just exalt them. 90% of the time i don’t even bother to level them up i just press the exalt button and call it a day. it’s fine
