What's In a Pocchiri? Part 18
On The Third Day of Fun I present... a new pocchiri! This one's a bit interesting for reasons you'll soon discover ^^
Tumblr media
Image is my own. Materials: Silver and Enamel Motif(s): Crane, Pine Blossom, and Waves Owned By: Originally Kaida (貝田) in Gion Kobu Unlike most pocchiri that are made with precious stones, this one is made with enamel. The process to produce the image is quite labor intensive, and begins by making the outline of the motifs with silver wires. From there the enamel color is slowly built up with a brush. Once the color layer is as high as the top of the wire, it is fired in a kiln to bake. After that the piece is carefully polished down, first with a grinding wheel to make it one level and then with various grits of polishing compound, the piece is complete! It features a lovely crane flying over waves underneath a plum tree. This piece was originally owned by the Kaida (貝田) okiya in Gion Kobu, but upon their closure it was sold off. I later acquired it from someone who bought it from that sale and it now sits in my private collection, although I have displayed it in public as recently as this year! You can see it being worn by maiko Eriko (江梨子) of Kaida (貝田) in this old photograph here:

Idk if ur taking asks rn, but in the fic you posted yesterday with Jory, you mentioned that he tattooed a girl’s neck one time and he couldn’t get his stomach to settle down. maybe you could turn that into a fic 😏
Haha I totally planted that in the hopes that someone would ask about it! Anyway, a year later here's the fic.
There's kinda a surprise at the end of this, and it's not heavy on emeto, but still fun to write! Glad my brain cooperated enough.
-------------------
The first time Jory got a red tattoo, he decided—like a reckless buffoon—to get his entire back done up with inky black tendrils surrounding red eyeballs. It was from his favourite anime, depicting a character ironically called Pride. Like a prideful son of a bitch, he convinced himself that he was immune to the common side-effects of red ink.
Well, it turns out he wasn’t. Only the red parts of the tattoo remained inflamed and itchy as hell for months. The red eyeballs swelled beneath his skin, creating a monstruous image that he did not ask for, at least until the reaction calmed down. Luckily for Jory, his body adapted to the colour and eventually everything settled properly. It wasn’t so much an allergy to the red, but a temporary reaction. But those six months were hell: an apt punishment for the deadly sin.
Now, whenever he tattooed another person with red ink, he made sure that the first attempt was small. On most occasions it didn’t matter because clients came in with perfectly healed red ink from years ago. This was the case with the girl at his next session.
“You’re hundo percent sure you had no issues with red before?” he asked the girl during the consult. She wanted cherry blossoms down her neck which required all the reds, pinks, whites, and browns. He was excited about the design.
“Yes, dude, I promise. It healed perfectly,” she assured him. “I’d show you, but I’d have to take off my jeans and I—”
“I believe you,” Jory cut in. “I have an opening in two weeks.”
Two weeks later, Kaida was sat in his chair, ready to get her neck pricked by a cherry blossom. At least it wasn’t roses.
“Kaida’s a sick name. How’d you get it?” Jory asked at the beginning of the four-hour session. He was happy to have eaten a big meal before starting this. He certainly wasn’t hungry, not with food grumbling in his belly.
“It’s Japanese for ‘little dragon’. My parents wanted something different.” She had no issues talking in the beginning because the tattoo started behind her ear. The vibrations rattled her head, but it was less painful than some of her other ones.
“Love that! I’ll tattoo a little dragon for you anytime.” Jory swallowed his excitement and a hint of acid reflux. “Were you born in Japan?”
“No, but my parents were.” Kaida went on to explain her family life.
This was Jory’s favourite part about being an artist: forcing people to share their life stories while trapped in a chair and suffering mild pain. Just kidding, but he liked getting to know people. Kaida had a cool sort of confidence and chill demeanour. She reminded him of Dev, in the way she carried herself, knowing her worth.
That afternoon, it was hard to focus on his client’s chit chat because his stomach was vocal enough for the both of them. He wondered if Kaida could hear the wet sounds of digestion coming from his belly.
On top of the increasing stomach-ache, the neck was a shit place to tattoo. It looked freakin sick, but the angle was killer. Jory couldn’t find a comfortable position. The angle was wonky and made for poor lighting. He didn’t know where exactly to put his hands and he kept worrying that he was going to crush her windpipe. Dev kept a close eye on him during this session for all these reasons.
Jory’s watchful mentor was never far. Dev talked to customers as people came into the shop, but mostly they hovered around him and Kaida. They helped out by replenishing paper towel and picking up inky ones from the floor.
It didn’t take long for Dev to notice Jory’s unease. There was tension in his jaw that wasn’t normally there. His Adam’s apple bobbed excessively every few minutes. The poor guy looked pale and sweaty. They knew he wasn’t feeling the best when he started suppressing burps.
Root beer had been a bad idea before a session. The carbonation turned Jory’s stomach into a sudsy bath of sugar and grease. He felt pressure build up in his throat but didn’t want to let it out while being so close to Kaida’s face.
Whenever he reached back to fill the machine with more ink, he took longer than necessary to let out the sour belches that bubbled in his stomach. He exhaled, trying to blow the smell of his chicken sandwich away from Kaida.
With the linework done, Jory went back to behind her ear to do the shading, giving Kaida a chance to talk more freely. “What do you do for fun?” he asked her, hoping she could fill the silence and mask the sound of his nauseous tummy. Her long black hair was done up in a tight bun to keep it out of the way, but he could still smell coconut shampoo. It was only slightly assaulting to his senses.
Kaida cracked a big smile. “My girlfriend and I are learning to crochet together. I suck at it, but she’s good. I tried to make a cat and now the beast haunts her boss’s office at work.”
Jory laughed, the movement jostling his sick tummy. A burp filled his cheeks, but he swallowed it. “Hopefully she’s a vet or something and they can fix the unholy cat?”
“No!” Kaida chuckled, trying to keep still. “She works at a dietician’s office. I should have crocheted a fucking carrot instead.”
Jory had to laugh, but this time he couldn’t keep the belch from coming up. It interrupted his laugh with a wet sound that gurgled in his throat. He quickly pulled back from her face. “Jeez. Sorry, babes.”
“You good, dude?”
“Probably…” He covered his mouth with his wrist to burp again. “Frick, my stomach feels like a bubble bath.” Jory felt the blood drain from his face, his skin going grey like a colourless tattoo.
Kaida didn’t know how to act. “What does that mean?”
Dev came around the corner then. “It means he’s tapping out.” They grabbed Jory’s shoulder and told him to stand. “Come on, take off your gloves and get some air.”
“I’ll be back in a jiffy, Kaida,” Jory said, stumbling away.
Dev scoffed. “It’ll be longer than a fucking jiffy, girl. You can stand up and take a break. You sat really well by the way. Jory just doesn’t know when to stop.”
Dev led Jory outside where the brisk air brought some colour back to his features. Sadly, it didn’t fix the issue. They watched him lean over and burp up a small wave of sick onto the pavement.
The belches kept coming, forcing up pathetic amounts of frothy saliva and bile. Jory closed his eyes, not wanting to see the disappointment on Dev’s face or the chewed-up pieces of chicken on the ground. He wished Dev would go back inside, but apparently, they wanted to soak up his misery for a while longer.
When Jory’s stomach finally settled, he looked back to see Dev leaning against the wall with their arms crossed over their chest. “You better not pull this shit again, Jory. If you feel sick, you stop.”
“I’m sorry—”
“Don’t. I just need you to understand that this girl’s neck is literally on the line. Let’s ignore the fact that you could make a mistake on a very visible part of her body, but not only that—in there needs to be a perfectly clean environment.”
Dev sighed when they saw the look on Jory’s face. He got the message loud and clear. He was a dog with his tail between his legs. And he still looked fucking beat. “How are you feeling?”
Jory kept his gaze away from them. “Better.”
“Were you too embarrassed to say anything? I could have helped.”
“It just happened so fast. I thought I was fine.”
Dev pushed off against the wall and came to lay a hand on Jory’s arm. “Me and the other artists are here to help. You don’t need to convince yourself you’re fine if you’re not. I’ll finish up with Kaida.”
“What about Kaida?” Just then a shorter woman with bouncy brown hair walked up to the shop. “That’s my girlfriend. I’m here to pick her up.” This girl was all smiles and curls.”
Jory cocked his head to the side. “We need more time for Kaida’s sess.” He only hoped she wouldn’t see the puddle of sick on the floor. “Do I know you? You look mad familiar.”
“Um, I don’t know.” She gave Jory an awkward smirk. “My name is Piper. I’m an Aries.”
Dev chuckled. “Oh right, Piper the Aries. Remember, Jory?” The sarcasm might have escaped Piper, but not Jory.
He shook his head. “I guess it’s a mystery. Come on in. I’m Jory.”
“His zodiac is Idiot,” Dev chimed in.”

The tryne of wombaxaa
FINALLY, it is finished! The main group in my story, this took a lot longer than I thought it would. But i finished... i got it done.
These warbirds live in a hidden village called wombaxaa (also their clan name), where they have to leave the comfort of their village to finish what their ancestors failed to protect them from. These four are not heroes but sacrifices. They, however, all have an intention to survive.
More info/facts about these guys under read more!
The main cast are all in there early 20s
Macar is an orphan and is raising his sister who is a tween.
Macar is very semi verbal and struggles to display a wide range of emotion.
This story takes place on a planet called Golae.
Warbirds are not native to golae.
Scout is the older brother of two other siblings.
He also is considered the black sheep.
Octaive has a twin brother named Baritone.
She has a huge crush on the butcher, who's named Alikay.
Kaida is the son of chief that passed away, his younger brother is set to be the next chief when he is old enough.
Albinism is very rare in warbirds, so Kaida stands out.
They have been friends since a very young age, their clan is big but has a rather tightly knit community.
The clan takes place mostly underground.

Ancient Greece/Greek Mythos AU
A/N: A writing piece from me? I am equally as surprised as you. @unfortunately-fabtastic please enjoy! It’s short with no real resolution but something we could build on in the future?? 👀👀👉👈
It was snowing. The weather had not changed for many moons now, far past when the people had expected spring to come. Livestock had their infants which was a sign that time had not stopped. But the seasons had come to a standstill and many believed that it was punishment from the Gods. No matter how much they prayed or what they sacrificed, winter refused to end.
Deep in the woods, a soldier tucked herself in a make-shift hut made from leather and fibre gathered prior to the winter. It had wilted and hardened to straw, impossible to manipulate without it snapping off and turning to dust at her feet. But it was all Kaida had been left with when she was shunned from her army.
Years of her life -including her childhood- given to a system that didn’t accept mistakes and a god that no longer believed in her. A god that had spoken sweet promises of turning her into a hero, one that would be remembered for generations. A victor with the status equivalent to the pantheon.
Lies. All of it.
Because this god had underestimated their soldier. They believed Kaida’s ambition was to succeed and would do anything to reach the peak of her life. But she couldn’t kill the baby that she heard crying from within the burning camp. Burning herself to save the child, Kaida held him in her arms and swore to protect. Despite the knowledge she would bring down the wrath of the heavens, Kaida carried the baby boy to the next town over for safety. Warning the civilians of the incoming raid as well, to protect the child the best she could.
As she sprinted over the rolling, snow covered hills Kaida could feel something in her changing. The burns on her skin no longer stung. She wasn’t sure if it was cold or the adrenaline that had numbed her. She didn’t understand the widening wounds that no longer bled, and why her vision developed dark spots.
An unknown curse rolled over her, and instead of a hero Kaida became a cautionary tale. Mouths and eyes had formed from her burns, turning her into an outcast. A monster. Something that people mistook for a creature that crawled out of the underworld to feast on the young. Gasps echoed from the townsfolk, and people fled from view. Waiting on a legend to come and slay the best.
A hero never came. But the monster did flee into the deep, wet woods. She set up shelter there and although Kaida was no longer the praying kind, she hoped she would survive the harsh winds of a neverending winter.
Food became scarce early on, but Kaida survived on the few animals that dared to leave their territory in search to end their hunger as well. As the days went on, Kaida was sure she would perish in this climate. She fought the elements the best she could, coating her shelter with hide she had skinned off her prey.
It still wasn’t enough to hold off the cold. All of her teeth across her body chattered as her nerves began to freeze. Kaida, unsure of what else to do besides keep her small fire going, succumbed to the deep slumber calling to her. Her last thought was that she would awake in the River Styx.
She, by someone’s intervention, opened her eyes the next day. Her fire was still going strong. But the first thing she noticed was the fibre that regained its colour and density. Outside her tent, berries had flourished despite the snow that covered them. Their small little campsite had warmed entirely. Not enough to melt away the winter, but she no longer feared the risk of frostbite. If she nurtured the campfire, Kaida would get by.
She quickly gathered the berries off the brush before they withered in the snow and began rationing the berries in case the miracle didn’t show up again. But the next day it did. And the day after as well. Due to the warmth and the food that would appear every morning, wildlife began approaching the campsite. Like a moth to a flame as Kaida would strike them down for meat.
The only clue ever left behind was bare footprints in the snow around her tent.
Once weeks had past, and Kaida no longer feared starvation, she decided to attempt to trap the entity that was aiding her. She couldn’t trust whatever creature greeted her with such generosity. Nothing in life was free after all.
Kaida pretended to sleep in her tent, like clockwork and waited for the sharp sound of the trap triggering. It was a long night. Paranoid, she would check close to every hour to find nothing. No one. She feared she had scared the stranger off somehow but stayed vigilant.
Close to sunrise was when she heard it. The sticks under the brush snapped in unison. She had never ran so fast in her life only to find a woman standing there, stabbing a stick into the trap with a neutral expression on her perfect face.
She was a tall woman, with long pointed ears that poked out from beneath her long, wavy blue hair that softly billowed in the cold wind. Her skin was white as snow, no imperfections that Kaida could see. She wore purple robes that tied around her chest that wavered into a dress which was made out of thin, airy material. She had a long grey robe, with a large hood wrapped around her shoulders and just like the footprints suggested - no shoes.
She turned to Kaida, a soft smile forming on her face. “I suppose you wanted to speak with me?” In front of Kaida’s very eyes, the woman touched the bush and grew the bountiful berries.
Kaida went to speak, but she hadn’t had the opportunity to in so long. Her voice was hoarse and when it finally breached it the sound came from everywhere around her. “Are you a nymph?”
The woman chuckled, moving around the site to tend to the fire behind Kaida. “One would think you would’ve known better than to insult the gods.”
“I do not trust the gods.” Kaida’s voices echoed in unison. “Take whatever gifts you wish to give me and use them on someone who believes in the facade of your generosity.”
The goddess shushed her gently, standing back up to her full height. “Now why would I do that when I’m not looking for worshippers. I’m searching for crusaders.” She took Kaida’s hand in hers and brushed her thumb alongside of the mouth that had taken root there. “And you have more reason than most to be one.”
Kaida’s head tilted in confusion, “Why would a god wish for someone to rise against Olympus?”
The woman made of ice responded with a smile, “Well, how about a Mistress of the Wind?”
“The Lady of Bloom?” She retorted.
“Queen of the Seasons?”
“Goddess of Nature.” Kaida finished, venom leaking in her tone.
The goddess nodded in response, “But you can call me Imogen.”
“That didn’t answer my question.” Kaida added. “I’m assuming this eternal winter is a part of it? Your rebellion? Getting tired of sitting on a cloud and doing your job?”
Imogen shrugged, “Those are all part of it I suppose. I was feeling inspired. After all,” her cold stare held Kaida’s, “hasn’t the world made you cold as well?”
She appeared to stare right through Kaida. But it wasn't a punishing or cruel gaze that she had grown accustomed to from the pantheon. It was the first true warmth Kaida had felt in weeks. If she didn't know better, Kaida would believe Imogen was trying to empathize with her.
How could an omnipotent being even try to understand a mortal's pain?
As if she could hear Kaida's true concerns, Imogen continued, "Your god-"
"No longer." She stopped Imogen in her tracks, only to be gifted with a smile.
"Right." She took a deep breath, "they took something from me. Something irreplaceable. And unfortunately I can’t just bring him back with a wave of my hand. He no longer belongs to me.” Another deep breath as her gaze breaks away to restore the wilting fibre.
“But as they took from me, I shall take from them. The cold is only centered around their worshippers, your old army. I have been restoring what I can in other areas, trying to minimize the damage to the innocents. And it won’t be much longer anyways.” She blew air from between her grey lips gently, blowing away the freezing air. “Your brother in arms have already begun to feed on one another.”
“Why would you not punish me?” Kaida asked, tone still bitter despite the fear Imogen’s one phrase sent into her spine.
Imogen gave another, almost innocent smile, “You’ve been punished enough for something undeserving. And besides, what better way to get revenge than to keep alive the one mortal he wants dead?”
“I’m a means to an end.” Kaida stated, knowing it instinctively.
“You always have been.” Imogen sighed, turning to leave. “A reckoning is coming, Kaida. I will not make the decision for you. And whatever you end up deciding, I will not stop supporting you.”
Kaida scoffed, “Because of spite, not of generosity.”
Imogen stepped into the air, beginning to levitate away. “Wars have been fought for less.”
As she began floating away, Kaida called after her. Instinctively. For the same fire, the same spite that flowed through Imogen only echoed Kaida’s. “This crusade of yours,” Imogen looked down at the beast that the gods’ actions had made, “how can I help?”

Kaida WIP!
I started Kaida (Red Dragon from The Woobles) and of course had a "helper". She got kicked off twice before finally giving up on attacking the yarn. Was hoping to finish before I got my Mojo Jojo and another mystery Wooble...but (at least as of today 5/3) I feel like crap and hoping it's just allergies and will pass in a day or two...(probably by the time this post actually goes out XD)

Ghost and Torture for Achlys, Nightmare and Failure for Koa, Fear and Desire for Pier, Pain and Mistake for Hephaestus, Heartbreak and Monster for Atraeus, Wound and Hunt for Moon, and Guilt and Break for Kaida.
Heheheheh Hi!
YOU MADWOMAN /affec
Ghost
OK, so. Achlys is haunted by himself. There's a point in his life where he very much is not acting normal. The instincts of his non-human DNA take over for a bit and he winds up doing things and hurting his father and someone else he cares about a lot pretty badly. It leads to a lot of guilt, and that part of himself haunts him. He's terrified of it happening again. So the ghost of his inhuman instincts. :3
Torture
When he was super young, his father conducted experiments on him. This was before Xander started viewing him as a son and still saw him as a tool or a stepping stone to even more powerful monstrosities he could create. Achlys doesn't remember this point in time very well, so he doesn't hold this against Xander at all. To Achlys, Xander has always been a good and loving, albeit morally questionable, father. :D
As for whether he would torture someone– absolutely not. He's too soft. He pretends like he isn't, but my guy couldn't stand the thought of seriously hurting someone. Roughing them up a little, though? You bet, for the right reason – or if he's bored.
Nightmare
Koa's nightmares are centered around the brainwashing and experimentation he went through as a child. His parents were killed when he was very young and he was taken in by an assassin clan to be trained as a mindless soldier. Thankfully, he didn't get very far into everything before he was saved by another OC of mine, Kimitomo. However, the dark stuff he went through still affect his mind. He can't properly express his emotions, and sometimes he has nightmares about being thrown back into the clan to have the job finished, even though the clan has long since been destroyed and the leaders slain. He hasn't told anyone about these nightmares because he doesn't have anyone to tell. Koa generally travels alone, and it's kinda dangerous to talk about that kind of stuff with just anyone. :/
Failure
I actually can't think of one for this. His greatest failure has been an overall one, I guess? He's yet to be successful in finding Kimitomo again to reunite. Koa is determined to find Kimitomo because he believes he's the only one who could ever understand what he went through and provide some sense of family. But Kimitomo is a very elusive man with some pretty intense problems of his own, sooo... He has zero intentions of letting Koa find him.
Fear
Pier's fear is pretty much the same as both answers in this post. :3
Desire
Pier's greatest desire has actually been fulfilled! Before he met his friends, he longed to find people he could personally relate to and have relationships with. But now he has Mazie and, to some extent, the other turtles! :3 So he's all good on that front.
Pain
Uhhhh So. At the risk going through a gruesome and horrifying description Something happened that led to Hephaestus' physical form being deconstructed. And that was excruciating.
His pain tolerance skyrocketed after that event.
Mistake
Hephaestus accidentally caused both him and his brother to be captured by their psychotic mother. It led to a lot of pain, including Hephaestus losing his tail and the event mentioned above. He very much blames himself for everything they went through, and even though they're both safe now he beats himself up for it.
Heartbreak
AHHHH I CAN'T ANSWER THIS FOR ATRAEUS BUT I CAN FOR HIS PAST REINCARNATION >:DDDD
So. Atraeus is the reincarnated version of this super powerful mermaid (although they're called Kifi in this world) named Atraiu. When Atraiu was alive, he ended up having to kill a young Kifi he viewed as a son because he got involved in some dark energy matter that corrupted his soul and led to a ton of his people being transformed into bloodthirsty monsters. Atraiu sacrificed both himself and his son figure to cast two spells: one to capture and lock the monster-turned Kifi down in the trenches of the ocean, and another to ensure both he and his son figure would be reincarnated in the future. Atraeus is his reincarnated version, having been born hundreds of years later. :DDD
Monster
Atraeus is not monstrous, no. However, there's a point in time where he believes himself to be monstrous after he hears about what the general public know about the legend of Atraiu and his sacrifice. Atraeus ends up becoming really good friends with the reincarnation of Atraiu's son figure, and when he finds out that his past self supposedly murdered him, he feels a lot of guilt about it. :<
Wound
;OAJ;AOEWJ MOON IS VERY TRAUMATIZED
She has many scars from when she was nearly killed by dragon hunters, and because of that she gets thrown back to those moments anytime she feels her safety is threatened. Especially when it comes to humans.
Her wounds are mostly mental at this point, as her wounds have all scarred over at this point. The worst of the wounds was on her head, which was the one that almost killed her. It left her blind in one eye, giving it its pale yellow look. That's where she gets her name from, actually! :3
Hunt
Being a Night Fury, Moon is hunted by dragon hunters looking to keep her as a prize or a trophy. Although she hasn't run into the hunters who nearly killed her in the past yet, she still feels like they're search is tireless. She fears she'll run into them at any moment.
Guilt
I don't think Kaida has anything to feel guilty about. Sometimes she almost jeopardizes her family's safety due to her being a human, but she's gotten over that insecurity for the most part.
Break
I can't think of what would get her to break down at the moment. But when she has a full breakdown, Kaida just goes deathly silent. She locks down and doesn't speak or react to her surroundings much. All of her walls go up and she just becomes a shell until she's able to calm back down enough to actually express what's wrong.
She has been at that point once in her life. She lost someone very dear to her, and she shut down for months because of it. :<

Note
this is probably basic knowledge buuuut can you pretty pls tell me how kaida 💀☠️👻 i just realized that i dont actually know yet
For sure!!
(This takes place on episode 7, season 2 of Mighty med)
(tw!!! Death!!!)
It happened when Lady Jesus took over poor kaida completely, locking her in a mental cage in Kaida's mind. When Kaz and Oliver went to caldera to save Skylar and kaida, starting to lose luck in doing so. Kaida had thought of a shit ton of ways to escape, but Lady jesus made the cage harder for it to unlock for kaida. When Lady jesus was distracted by arguing to her mother about her new look, kaida had enough time to escape and kill Lady Jesus. She had realized that to kill a rook, you have to break their heart. Now the two are in a mental battle between each other. As kaida was beating L.J, Lady Jesus had other plans. The entity slashed the human girl's throat and stabbed her over and over until she couldn't move anymore. She had succeeded her mission. To kill the villain, Gargoyle's, child that had his powers of dreams. (I'll explain this one another time, if you'd like). However, Lady Jesus had been banished to The Land because it wasn't the right child that had Gargoyle's powers. And now, with kaida telling Oliver that she loves him, died.
Oliver takes kaida in his arms and puts her on a gurney as Kaz did the same to skylar. "You take care of skylar, ill take care my darling" "on it" and so, the two boys try to heal the girls. Skylar ended up surviving, however, kaida did not. "Kai? Darling? Kai! Kaida!" Oliver yelled her name, trying to shake her awake with no avail. "Kiss her" Kaz and Skylar say at the same time. "What?" "KISS HER!" everyone in the whole hospital shout, shocking the boy. And so, Oliver kisses her. True loves kiss will definitely help. Kaida's heart monitor was now beeping, but Kai still not up. "Kaida! Wh-" "She has to kill the rook in her mind before she can wake up again" "how long will that take?" Oliver asked Skylar. "Days, weeks, months. It's depends on what kind of rook. But, since it's Lady Jesus, Kai might not wake up for a long while."
💜💜💜💜
If you want, I can make a part two for when she wakes up!
