[Achromatic Loop AU]
Animation in progress!
[Small Note Below] ↓
My fixation on the fandom is dwindling!! I am finally ready to turn both my AUs into Original Works. [They already were though the moment I decided to turn them into AUs though LOL]
I AM NOT LEAVING TSP!
Don't get me wrong, this isn't me saying I'm gonna leave the fandom HAHA! I'm not!! :3
I want to let myself free from the restrictions of having to strictly follow the TSP storylines and branch off with my own ideas, you know? Let myself have some fun too. [Because lately, the creative weight of having to bind myself down to TSPs original story has been troubling me~ no fun at all!!]
My AUs have really transformed into something really big!! Elements of The Stanley Parable are still there, but I also want my audience to acknowledge that a lot of the things I make for it are also my own stories and characters now! [Not to misunderstand as me 'claiming' TSP / its characters, I meant that I own the designs, original storylines, and lore for them.]
It's going to be an original work inspired by The Stanley Parable and will contain a lot of elements related to the game itself! [Think of Undertale AUs HAHAHA! The logic here is similar to those!]
I'm still going to make canon TSP related content here and there, but I'm largely going to focus on my two AUs, Achromatic Loop and Blank Scripts.

The constant "maybe you should have re-read Fourth Wing and Iron Flame before jumping into Onyx Storm, don't blame the author for you being confused" posts are getting on my last nerve.
Stop being a pick me. Do you think we're all over here saying there were "so many people" because we're referring to Lynx & Baylor?
Sorry, I'm upsetti spaghetti. I was fighting for my life with my brain trying to remember all this in the first ten chapters, sorry I thought it was going to be important 🙃
Duke of Calldyr - short blond beard, four different consorts in four years
Duchess of Elsum - dark brows
Duchess of Morraine - high pitched voice, golden-brown skin, ruby earrings and necklace
Duke of Luceras
Queen Maraya - light brown skin, dark eyes, curly hair
Captain Anna Winshire - talkative, strawberry-blond, brown eyes
Captain Henson - female, tightly woven black braids, air wielder
Lieutenant Pugh - male, blue eyes, farsight
Lieutenant Foley - male, agrarian (plant-wielding)
General Tinery - in command of the Southern Wing
Ewan Faber - stocky, sour-faced, Navarrian Fourth Wing wingleader
Iris Drue - wingleader of Navarrian First Wing
Theophanie - long silver hair, high cheekbones and full mouth, pale skin, tattoo on forehead, beautiful, venin sage or maven
They were all introduced in the first ten chapters. Of a 60+ chapter book. This doesn't include description only characters, dragons, or places.
She did a really good job in the last book of introducing the Assembly as "silver beard" or "battle-axe", getting their descriptions stuck in our heads before we moved onto actual names and that, in my opinion, worked really well. That kind of technique can sometimes be greater than throwing a whole bunch of names in off the bat like she did with all these captains and lieutenants, especially if they're not going to be important.
Sometimes giving them a name is giving them significance—to me, it signifies to the reader hey, these people are going to be around a lot, you should know them!
I've also seen people saying "well there's a map and an index" ...these people aren't on there. The Isles aren't on the map. I have no visual for where we're going. If you're worried about spoilers, you can always put the "new" map at the end of the book for those who want to see.
I'm not 'blaming' Rebecca Yarros. She's allowed to make whatever choices she wants, it's her book, but these are choices she's made that she could have made differently, and I don't think it's kind to be calling other people idiots because you think we're all out here forgetting who Tecarus is because you only took in the surface level.
How are we supposed to know who is going to be important? We don't know where the story is going and all of this is getting shoved at us one by one in the opening chapters.
Also, as a generally nice human being, if I were on the other side of this discourse, I would have said "I'm not sure how people are so confused, what are you missing?" Not, "sorry you're too stupid to understand, maybe you should not be reading fantasy" 😃
The internet has made it far too acceptable for people to be rude to others. We're allowed to all have our own experiences and disagree. You can do that without denigrating other people's opinions and gatekeeping fantasy? Ew.
I don't dislike Rebecca or the series in general, I think she did a fantastic job with introductory world-building and introducing characters in the first two books, it's why I like it so much. The techniques she used worked. I just don't think she used them as effectively this time 🤷‍♀️
As I constantly say, if you only read it on surface level, if you're just here casually for the vibes, I love that for you! I wish I was you! But the toxic positivity can fucking go.

i really cant put into words how annoying it is to see the way modern vocaloid fans react about shit these days. i want to blame project sekai but like. i dont even think it's the fault of that game for introducing vocaloid to a younger audience, i think that younger audiences in general are just insanely reactionary and are the types of people who think hatsune miku is an actual 16 year old that needs to be protected rather than a tool that people use to make art. you are willfully misinterpreting the art of real humans to demonise them in favour of protecting a fictional 9 year old

Actually feels like I'm losing my mind sometimes 'cause the TDP fandom is the only fandom where it feels like people are hardly at all fawning over the well curated selection of gay DILFs in the series.
Like this is one of the few children's media I know that has canonical mpreg (that's somehow done in a way that's also treated with just as much seriousness as it's treated comedically) and... no one cares? I mean, maybe that wasn't shocking to the fandom at the time and of course a ton of other shit has happened that's gone beyond that (like the cannibalism maybe), but seriously. Surely that should attract people to this show, right?
I mean, tragic old man yaoi became so popular in 2024, I saw everyone talking about it all throughout the year on Tumblr. And no one looked into exploring viravos more through that? Like, what? The way the ship so perfectly aligned with people's ideals for that trope and even hit points that I felt like some people said the most popular ships of that trope weren't able to fit... And if anything it seems like viravos has died down since mid 2024 (around when season 6 came out and when this trope seemed to be peaking in popularity because of the other media coming out at the time that used it) within the show's own fanbase. And it used to be the second most popular ship at that too.
And again, it's one thing for none of these characters or ships to be the main appeal for the fanbase itself... But somehow none of these things draw other people in? That's the crazy part to me. That's what's mind boggling.
#the dragon prince#tdp#viravos#viren#lord viren#aaravos#tdp viren#viren tdp#tdp aaravos#aaravos tdp#another day of wondering why is the series so damn underrated#this turned out to be more of a rant then I intended it to be#but okay so this is my own personal theory#I think a lot of this has to do with the advertising done for the show and creators' interactions with the fandom#cuz it seems like the creators are more heavily aiming at appealing to already existing fans#and I think the thing is most of the already existing fans aren't actually into those things (at least not much anymore)#so there's a lot more promortional material that's made for rayllum and draggang fans#cuz that's a lot more popular currently in the fandom#even tho outside of the fandom what's referenced in the post is what's currently more popular#so ppl outside the show aren't getting exposed to those aspects of the show that are more appealing in bigger fandom spaces#does that make sense?#like even the very few (but well known) ytbers who've done videos on tdp still seem to be more focused on rayllum above anything else#despite also not seeming to be that invested in the fandom#cuz that's all tdp presents itself as and allows itself to present as#(not that that's a bad thing)#also obviously this isn't me saying we should idolize problematic men in media and I'm glad the tdp fandom holds ppl accountable for that#and obviously like the main canon wlw and the most popular mlm ships (janaya and sorvus) are by miles healthier then viravos#but still#(also anyone who thinks that the subreddit is still made up of viren/virrow stans I assure you they lost interest post s6)

I think general Legend of Zelda fans should start tagging their stuff with Linked Universe to catch some of that clout.
If literally every single Legend of Zelda tag is just full of only lu stuff anyways, to the point some of them have more lu in them than Zelda, might as well get something out of it in return.
Not like any lu fans should mind crosstagging, after all.

MURDERBOT SHOW????
HELLO DARLING YES MURDERBOT SHOW!!!!!!!!!!! I AM EXCITED!!!!!!!!
the trailer dropped today and it looks honestly pretty good, and pretty faithful to the books!!!! i will probably form more opinions on the trailer at some point, but i'm just letting myself be autisticly excited rn :)
unfortunately there's the issue of the casting.... murderbot is not, in the strictest sense, canonically brown or Black. in the books, it only ever describes itself as looking "generic". but the author has said she didn't intend for it to be white, and its skin is dark in official (? i think?) art. and before it frees itself, murderbot is a slave, and is treated as a subhuman tool with no thoughts or feelings of its own. as far as I'm concerned, that's not the story of a white person. so i think an actor of color would be more appropriate.
it's hard to get past that. which is good, i don't want to move past that. so i'm letting myself be excited but it's tempered by a good solid "yikes"
(there's also the gender thing - but that's different, in several ways. murderbot is canonically agender, and that can look like anything, so i don't mind it being played by a man. but i do think there's lots of nonbinary actors that deserve the part, yk?)

when the long night inevitably ends and the previous social structure has crumbled and both westeros and essos are in chaos, do you want characters who genuinely care about creating meaningful change to be in power, or do you want them to die/not be in power because “feudalism is bad” and therefore these characters who derive some of their authority from the class they belong to cannot hold any power after the long night bc that somehow contradicts one of asoiafs most prominent messages. (despite the fact that many of our main characters suffer due to the current social systems in place)
personally, id prefer it if the characters who are able to see the good in the undesirables of society (and protect/empower these undesirables) are able to live on in order to restructure society in a way that protects all people.
to be frank, i don’t think it’d even be possible for the world of asoiaf to return to feudalism after something like the long night occurs.
but the thing is, society needs structure and humanity will naturally restructure itself whether people like it or not. so when spring comes, i want the characters who wish for a better tomorrow for all people to be in power in order to create a better world.
so to everyone who thinks that certain characters being in power only perpetuates the cycle of class violence and oppression, i’d like to ask you what you think is a better alternative way for asoiaf to end.

Overall I did really enjoy S2, in particular act 3, but I definitely think it should have been 3 seasons not two. They crammed too much in so some bits ended up being a bit underdeveloped and there were pacing issues throughout the series but the animation was stunning as always and they did well to pack it all in with the timeframe they were given

"i just headcanon them as friends," "it's not really canon," "it's more like unrequited love imho," "i don't see them as romantic"
okay but what if. some of us want stories where a Black female character gets romance. what if some of us want a Black woman to get to explore her sexuality (even if that's asexuality!) separate from trauma narratives. what if some of us want to see a Black woman be loved, be pleasured, be swept off her feet. what if some of us want a Black woman to be a fully realized love interest for another main character, without being relegated to the sidelines as a supportive friend or a mean lesbian or part of a rarepair. what if some of us want a Black woman to get to be a monsterfucker, a friend-to-lover, a slowburn, a happy ending.
what if some of us think that characters who look like us should get to be subjects, not just objects.

What if TWST has a game franchise similar to LOZ, but it's Alice's adventures in Wonderland?
The series is quite popular, you play as Alice, with the Cheshire Cat as your companion (who tends to cause more problems than help out), the Vorpal Sword is basically the Master Sword and you help the Queen of Hearts by exploring dungeons and solving riddles and puzzles. There is even an Ace Attorney spin-off (not very successful, since the nonsensical rules annoy most players).
However, it's a general consensus that no one understands the first game. The whole playthrough amounts to 2 hours at most, though dataminers found more content in the code. It that wasn't enough, there is a weird sign right next to the first dungeon, who clearly breaks the fourth wall:
*
WARNING! YOUR GAME WILL NEVER BE THE SAME IF YOU DON'T GET THIS MESSAGE!
"Up is down, left is right,
Count the letters, subtract the spaces,
1 2 3 know 9 8 7 are your friends, now and ever,
Mind the gaps, ignore the rabbit,
There is no fun that is not maddening!"
There is also a small note in the back, written in blood-red ink, signed with a paw-print:
"I watch everything with a disinterested smirk,
With lazy eyes that twinkle like faraway suns,
You'll never find me in the night sky while I lurk,
'Cause, "mime a ton, drum te hey!"
*
Now, the Cheshire cat was only introduced in a later game, so people kept trying to find glitches to the moon (they also didn't find the cat and kept talking to a mime NPC). A quick look at the Queen's Rules also didn't help, since the number you get when subtracting the letters and spaces while ignoring the numbers just doesn't add up (something about doing parkour whenever a tree is planted).
So it stayed that way, just like the "Mew under the truck" thing.
Until Cater decided to stream a playthrough alongside the dorm (it fits the Heartslabyul theme, also Riddle is interested in gaming, so why not start with a simpler game that is also a classic).
You see, firstly, if you consider the numbers as actual names and write them as words, you get additional letters that, when subtracted by the spaces...still get a rule that doesn't make sense (don't eat a tart after midnight) BUT, if you know about Queendom history, you'll know that this rule was added by the White Rabbit to fill a GAP in the book after the Queen banned a rule about the correct way to dance (up, down, left, right, two steps forward, one step back).
Long story short, Riddle solved the problem.
So, you can get that dance and replicate it in the game, swapping up with down and left with right (forward and backwards would also be up and down, in this case).
As for the extra note, they already knew it was the cat, but if you scramble "Mime a ton, drum te hey!", you get "I am on the tree, dummy!"
The cat introduced himself, saying he'll follow the player on the next journey, but not before giving a tip: "If you want to keep going, you have to be as mad as everyone here! Why kill when you can dance? They do say singing wards off evil..."
Riddle explained all of this in fifteen minutes. Just to humor him, Cater left the sign and made a beeline for the first tree in the area, expecting nothing of it.
The Cheshire Cat showed up, his smile overtaking the screen.
And with that, Cater wordlessly rushed to the first dungeon, doing the dance code instead of killing the first enemy.
The game crashed.
And then a cutscene started playing.
It was basically the Jabberwock appearing and destroying the dungeon's ceiling. Apparently he is "searching for that damn cat" and "hoping to battle his nemesis again". With that, he leaps to the sky, and we get the game's title drop.
Do note that the game was using a style similar to "A Link to the Past" at first, but everything changed and now it looks like Twilight Princess.
And that's how Cater's streams became famous. Also everyone is trying to memorize the Queen's rules.
The streams now happen in Ramshackle, with the entire cast present. Also Riddle is annoyed because people keep asking for his assistance with solving game puzzles.
Alternatively, this could also happen in Book 6.
Everyone speedrunnimg the Overblot fight just so they can keep playing.
