> Blood Moon - a dark fantasy ISAT AU
aaaand here we go again, this time with my take on a vam-- I MEAN, my I-can't-believe-it's-not-another-vampire AU. what can I say, I'm a sucker for messy AU ideas. ba dum tss. ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, all jokes aside... I couldn't resist after seeing so many fun vampire Siffrin AU ideas floating around, but still wanted to try my hand at doing something a little different. don't be fooled, this has at least 2000% more world building packed into it than it has any business having.
hey, I didn't lie! they're not actually a vampire! technically!! don't worry, I came up with something worse. more below the cut.
> OVERVIEW
set in a world where fae encounters are simply a grim reality of life, Siffrin himself is a part of the darkness that humanity has been taught to fear-- even if he himself doesn't realize what that entails. how could he, when everything that he was has been erased from the world? the Court of the Empty Star is no more, scattered to the winds-- its history wiped clean, even from the fae themselves. weak and depleted without their source of magic, the 'Lost Ones' found new ways of filling the hollowness it left behind-- methods that would render them monsters more than any fae had ever been before.
somewhere along the coast, a human village took pity on a wayward child and took them in, raising them as their own. they believed him to be a harmless abandoned changeling, a creature of fae origin that had lost its ill-gotten mortal name yet been left behind as a part of their world. they only knew he was no such thing after livestock started going missing, nothing but scattered inedible remnants left behind by morning. this certainly was not the work of a changeling. so they called him something else; a 'Cursed One,' bearing the Curse of Hunger that had twisted its afflicted for generations... an insatiable beast who could live forever by devouring the lives of others.
how could they abide something so dangerous in their homes?
how long until this hungry little monster was eating more than just chickens and cattle, after all? it was only ever a matter of time.
how long until their own families began to look like easy food?
he heard every word spoken in the town hall that night, and knew that this place would never be the home he'd hoped it to be.
so the child ran, and ran, and they've never stopped running since.
it's been over a decade since then. deep in the heart of the nation of Vaugarde, a vast fount of otherworldly power flows its cursed power across the land, twisting the land of mortals into a paradise for beings of the Moonlit Realm. there, concealed by night with only the moon and the stars shining overhead, creatures of the darkness travel freely and humanity is condemned to wander as ageless beasts. rumors even claimed that the pure magic of this strange, macabre 'blessing' could cure the hunger of a Cursed One.
'Siffrin' was never the type to play hero. everyone knows that the favors of a monster never come for free, after all. the Saviors believe he is their secret weapon, a mysterious creature who seems as at ease in this expanse of unfathomable night as they are in the day.
but he knows the truth. their new 'friends' will pay the price for such a dreadful bargain-- even if they haven't yet realized the cost.
will they pay their toll in blood or in tears? in time, or the stars above?
or will the pull of two conflicting worlds snap him in two first?

Psyche, the most entertaining (for a given definition) of Pieridae’s siblings, is a shapeshifter with the power to make people really suggestible, which would be unethical but the only thing they use it for is going “five more minutes” whenever anyone tries to leave a party. And getting people to do shots.
Maybe it’s still a little unethical.
It’s their birthday today :)

Meet my new guy! A fairy med student who's probably seen some shit. He's very tired, very chill, and might have more scars at some point but I haven't quite figured his whole deal out. tbh I kinda hate giving characters scars for no reason but this guy might actually need some. I was struck with inspiration to make him like this wikipedia image of an ember and well you can't just ignore easy thematic inspiration like that can you?

I'm always on for any FOP AUs that lean into the darker side of the fae lore. I felt inspired looking at your designs, so I wanted to share my sketches as appreciation. I was thinking of cleaning one of these up, but I'm still undecided on which one. I think I'll keep sketching until I find the one I feel like it lol. These sketches aren't anything beautiful or breathtaking, but still I'll just share them for fun.

(There's additional info on my thoughts of your AU in the alt text image description. I had to separate my yapping session.)
Just a few thoughts in the night
My little fix on Fairly "The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish!" won't let me go, so I've been thinking a little bit about everything. Today I decided to refresh my memory about how fairies were represented in myths and folklore. Of course, I turned to wikipedia with this question. It was interesting to find out that fairies were described as spirits with a glow, and their bodies had the consistency of a thick cloud, "and their bodies are so changeable because of the refinement of the spirit." By nature, they are quite touchy creatures, but also fairies have always been ready to thank a person for doing them a favor / helping. It is better not to accept gifts from fairies. After a while, the "fairy gold" may well turn out to be leaves or crumbs from a pie. Well, how can you forget that these creatures are terrible pranksters? It was they who tangled their hair at night, soiled things that were dried in the air, stole small objects, led travelers away from the true path. And besides small tricks, they could have more dangerous behavior, well, for example, it was believed that if a person died unexpectedly, his fairies stole and planted a dummy. Do you remember that fairies are offended? Well, they're also vindictive. The avenging fairy can cause serious illnesses and cause paralysis in livestock, or cause fires. And they also stole or took children (and not only) to their magical world forever. No one knew about the fate of these unfortunate people, but there are two options - either an absolute joyful life without worries, or death from homesickness. Oh, and many more people who supposedly had magical abilities received them from fairies. Just imagine an au in which the fairies from FOP would be more like the fairies from the myths (I don't know if there are similar au and fanfiction on them, but agree, the idea is interesting). Or in general, where the characters are transferred to a more medieval/Victorian setting and interact with fairies. Imagine, fairies don't just help children, but use them for their own selfish fairy purposes. Either for revenge, or for a prank, or for the sake of, uh, the subsequent transfer of children to the Devil. Idk, it's fun to play with and all that.
Tumblr media
(Well, it seems that in the Victorian era people especially strongly believed in fairies, so, huh, keep Timmy that a little boy in the Victorian era and meets fairies. They definitely will NOT give him to the Devil instead of their child ("It was popularly believed that this dangerous habit for humans had to do with the "subordinate" position of fairies, who are forced to pay tribute to the Devil with their own children; to save the latter, they steal human ones"))

"There was once a lonely boy who crossed a fairy circle; every year after, he gradually lost his sense of self and all sense of time."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ooh~, a fairy circle???!!! I know this doesn't look that horrifying yet lol, but I will try on the next companion piece to this one lmao.
As usual my insane thoughts and concept and closeup art below lol.
The fanart this time is for a Victorian Era Dark Fae Fairly Oddparents AU that @keyintheeye-blog came up with some time ago. I'll include the other posts related to this AU here too, so you'll understand the whys and hows. Keep in mind that this AU is still in development and some details and designs might change as time goes on lol.

A Year in Review
Tumblr media
SO ITS BEEN A LONNNNG YEAR! a very very long year, but a lovely year and a very precious year!!! I feel like because of how big a year its been, we need a recap of everything that happened, and everything that this platform has allowed me to achieve!!
SO LETS START WITH JANUARY!!
Tumblr media
I was still in school during this month, so I didn't get to draw as much as i wanted, but i wrote a ton!! I published chapters of Survey Says, Rehab/Cohab, and also the seminal work of fiction that is Positive Reinforcement! I want to celebrate how much writing i got done, especially with how that's taken a back seat on my blog for a while now!!
Tumblr media
In february I got more time to focus on my work, and I hit 1000 followers!!!! I conducted the first ever askbox purges, and I drew a load of art!! I also met some great new friends during this month!! (hi soda! :D)
Tumblr media
I STARTED STREAMING IN MARCH!!! I think this was one of the best decisions i ever made, because being able to chat and hang out with everyone as i draw is always hugely inspiring. I look forward to streaming and chatting with everyone each week :]
Tumblr media
IN APRIL I DREW TOO MUCH NON ROBOT ASS. I finally got around to watching dungeon meshi and i became absolutely fucking obsessed with fantasy. I've always been a huge interest in fae and fantasy and worldbuilding, so knightformers is such a fun creative exercise!!
Tumblr media
and then in may my computer exploded. Not actually, the screen just broke. I drew so much knightformers in may that my screen killed itself. oops!
Tumblr media
In june, I not only hit 2k followers, but started a stickers business!!! All of your support from that made me feel confident in my ability to sustain myself on my art, and gave me the inspiration to push myself harder as the year went on!
Tumblr media
In july, not only did I go to my first transformers convention, I met @pinkanonwrites in person for the first time, and MY BOYFRIEND MOVED INTO MY HOUSE! This month was so busy, but meeting pink and going to tfcon was so fantastic :]
Tumblr media
In august it was my BIRTHDAY!! :D i turned 21! And I went on a prolonged inbox hiatus to focus on establishing my art style !
Tumblr media
In september my hiatus continued, and I created meter, the greatest blight on the tfa tag to ever exist! Everyone exploded over my sweet boy, and it made me very happy to see :D
Tumblr media
In october, i entered what I consider my own personal renaissance!! I was incredibly inspired by tf one, and starting to use more colour in my artwork since september! I released halloween merch (and then got my account on ko-fi suspended for a bit but it was fine) and hit three thousand followers!
Tumblr media
IN NOVEMBER I KEPT MYSELF BUSY. I worked on tons of merch, made hypnovembers, and sketched up an absolute storm. The whole month honestly feels like a blur to me. AND THEN THE CANADA POST WORKERS WENT ON STRIKE (union strong, lads, good luck!)
Tumblr media
Andddd because of that postal strike, I had to cross the us border into america to get all of my stickers sent off!!! december has continued to be incredibly busy, but! if you're seeing this, it means I'm ON HIATUS OFFICIALLY!!! AND MY WORK IS DONE (or mostly done ehehe)
I want to give a huge thanks to all of you. Because of your support, both financially and socially, not only has my confidence grown, but with it, so has my artistic skill and my income.
Drawing for all of you has allowed me to manage my anxiety more readily with medical marijuana, has allowed me to become more financially independant and responsible, and has opened up so many doors for me socially.
doing this has always been something that was more pipe dream or fantasy than reality, so the fact I get to say I draw for a living at all is a privilege i don't take lightly in the slightest.
I will always be proud to draw for this community. Thank you everyone, and see you next year!

Pairing: Feysand Rating: E Words: ~4.5k Tags/Warnings: Dead Dove: Do Not Eat, Guardian-Ward Relationship, Arranged Marriage, Age Difference, Size Difference, Magical Adoption, Born Fae Feyre Archeron, Multi-POV Summary: When the High Lord of the Night Court meets a neglected but promising young artist, he decides to take her under his wing and move her to Velaris, so he can sponsor her education at the best art school the Night Court has to offer. (Or, the fic in which Rhys decides he can raise his young mate better than the Archerons can and actually does it.)
Read Chapter 2 on AO3 here or check out a snippet below the cut!
Tumblr media
Feyre trails her fingers along the ruffled edge of a curtain, gazing out of the wide bay window that dominates the wall of her new bedroom at the small, moonlit courtyard below.
She should be sleeping, but it eludes her in this strange place.
Beyond the window, fat mounds of burlap hint that there is a garden down there, hidden away from the wintry chill, but a little fountain at the heart of the stone-paved pathway burbles on without a care for the thin layer of hoarfrost coating the world.
Someone has enchanted it not to freeze, and for a moment, Feyre wonders if the High Lord himself cast the charm.
She nibbles at her lip as she considers it. It seems below him, to bother himself with small household tasks. It’s the sort of long-lasting magic that is out of reach for most lesser faeries, but she doubts that he would even notice its drain on his magic.
She is, after all, standing in the heart of a city kept veiled by his magic. By all the magic of his ancestors combined, kept woven in its neat tapestry by him. If the High Lord can keep this place—Velaris, she reminds herself, mouthing the foreign word she learned just a few hours earlier with her clumsy tongue—hidden beneath a web of secrecy and ancient warding spells, then a simple warming enchantment for a small fountain should be a mere drop in the well of his power.
And Feyre knows the stories well enough to know that he must be pulling from a deep, deep well.
Craning her neck until her forehead presses against the icy glass, she tries to look beyond the row of townhouses stretching out to either side of her window. Her eyes strain to glimpse the lights of the city she saw when she first arrived, but she only succeeds in making the glass go foggy, her hot breath melting the rime that started forming not long after the sky darkened.
From this window, she can only see the backs of townhouses and their courtyards all the way down the street.
Townhouses.
The High Lord of the Night Court lives in a townhouse.
And her father had winnowed her directly to its doorstep.
Feyre presses her fingers to the glass. It’s warmer here than it is in the countryside—by just a few degrees, really, but she thinks it feels more pleasant than the biting chill at the heart of the Night Court’s lands.
Earlier in the evening, she’d barely had the time to finish sneaking bites of her cake beneath her covers before Papa appeared in the door to her room, tugging at the collar of his fine tunic. There was a tightness around his eyes, a stiffness to the set of his shoulders, and for a moment she feared he was cross with her.
It would be the very first time, if so. Papa was never the stern parent; he’d always let Mama take that role.
So Feyre had shifted until she sat fully upright, warily shuffling the icing-smeared plate and fork deeper into the tangle of her sheets.
“What mischief you’ve gotten yourself into this time, my dear,” was all Papa said, in the end. He spoke slowly, as if choosing every word with extreme caution. “You’ve a talent for it, but this…”
She sat very still when Papa trailed off, seating himself at the foot of her bed, and watched him cast a glance at the wall over her nightstand. At the sketches and watercolors pinned to the fine silk wallpaper. He had never before paid such attention to her art, and as he stared and stared now, she got the uncomfortable feeling that her father was, for the very first time, looking directly at her.
She wondered what he saw that made his brow crease so deeply.
“Oh, Feyre,” he sighed when he was done looking, finding her ankle through the covers. His hand trembled as he grasped it, and she realized that he wasn’t angry with her. It was sorrow that made his eyes crease at the corners—sorrow that suffused his voice as he said, “You have a talent for many things, it seems.”
Still uneasy, Feyre had looked at her paintings too, trying to figure out which could put her father—her charming, good-humored Papa—in such a state. But all she saw were sketches of the interesting bugs that Elain found in the garden and paintings of the nymphs that lived in the wood and turned into trees whenever they caught Feyre looking and one portrait of Nesta that made her look more like a feral she-wolf than a girl.
(It wasn’t so obvious. At least Feyre hadn’t given her sister a visible tail.)
“Mama said it was a ladylike pursuit,” she muttered when no answers came to her.
“Ah, yes. Yes, she wouldn’t allow it otherwise, I suppose.” Papa nodded sagely. Though his mouth twisted into a smile, it didn’t meet his eyes. “I do believe she could do without all that traipsing about in the wood and riverbeds to find your subjects, though.”
Beneath the covers, her scraped knees smarted and her thigh seemed to burn where it was pressed against the plate, but Feyre schooled her expression into one of unknowing innocence.
