♡ floyd likes shoes. jamil knows this. and because of this, jamil thought it would make a good gift. apparently, gift giving is quite the tradition among mermaids.

between family, between friends, and between lovers. jamil has observed the way jade eagerly gifts floyd and azul terrariums, and floyd sometimes gives them carefully decorated desserts, and azul will sometimes sneak extra coins from his collection into his pockets.

outside of their trio though, they’re quite hesitant to give others gifts. it’s certain people, jamil has noticed. on occasion, floyd will buy ace snacks from the vending machine, or azul will proudly give riddle a packet of handmade strawberry tarts.

recently, floyd has been giving gifts to jamil nonstop. it was usually small stuff, like food, hair accessories, bracelets, jackets, and on one particular instance, a somewhat shabbily handsewn tiny eel plush. “it’s me!” floyd had said very proudly when he had given it to jamil. said eel now sits on jamil’s bed on its own special pillow, but floyd didn’t need to know that.

a lot of small gifts were still lots of gifts, and jamil wanted to give back in some way. so shoes. it was something floyd liked. easy, right? wrong! jamil was sat scrolling through 15 different shoe stores trying to figure out what shoes floyd might like better. sneakers? dress shoes? hell, sandals?! (un)fortunately, while jamil was struggling, kalim took notice and decided to help jamil by buying. one shoe. from. every. site.

floyd was quite overjoyed, grinning bit and wide, and very excitedly opening every shoe. he had given jamil a kiss as a thank you, which in turn had frozen jamil on the spot.

“ah, jamil, shall i offer you an ailment for your illness” azul so terribly said from his side. jade so helpfully added, “yes, you seem quite love sick”

jamil was going to strangle them. after he was done watching floyd gush over every shoe.

name: ahn, min seo age: 32 species: viper beastkin. occupation: voice actor. / hobo when he's not working. height: 5'8 fun facts: min seo is legally blind, though he's able to see things like 15 feet infront of him and just shapes, but his limited vision is why he's often seen reading through braille or listening to things rather thing moving his bangs to squint. its just easier to rely on braille or an audio. -> one of his retainers comes by three times a month, with anti-venom since his particular species of snake is venomous and dangerous and it's obligated.

min seo is a bit of a recluse, a very private and famous voice actor that most will ever know his voice and not really his face. he craves his privacy, because he realizes that while most probably wouldn't recognize his voice off bat, there are a few fans he's ran into that have hounded him into just not coming outside and prompted him to order delivery. he's not worry someone will recognize him at all, except for like a very ancient interview someone clipped years ago. but he generally enjoys being able to voice characters people hate to love or love to hate, it brings him joy to get into character and bring a story to life.

when he does venture out, he can usually be found at conbini's eating all the savory snacks, but also just enjoyed a hearty meal that fills his stomach. if he leaves with two days worth of food, it just means that he plans to stay inside and waste away for a bit. regardless of that, min seo is a silly guy, loud sometimes when he's talkative and someone who doesn't take life too serious.

Alternative, rock or metal: he probably went to concerts with his friends back in middle school

Pop: Based off the vibes I think he'd just picked it up naturally — he isn't the deepest character in the cast so my assumption might be quite shallow imo, this is twst's bad writing at fault... ☠️

Jazz: All the octa members used to be in a jazz band back in middle school so I'll be using that as reference as an explanation. And well, the mostro lounge bgm is jazz

Classical: Because Azul was on the piano/keyboard in the band as I remembered, he started liking classical whilst taking piano lessons. He seems financially well off enough to be able to take piano lessons since he was kid, he could maybe also be self-taught too but having a tutor just makes more sense

I like to think he likes a lil bit of alt too (Because I said so).

🦈 Floyd Leech 🦈

Just loud n fast-paced music in general. I can't really specify a genre for him idk why. I like to think he's the most active and productive when it comes to music. Like oh, this song is sick! And then he immediately goes on his drums to sync with the music or any other instrument he has.

Pop, rap: I think that he took some of Jamil's music taste as his own, he tends to join Jamil whenever he dances alone so I think he listens to what Jamil listens to so he can get closer to him (Jamil often just finds it annoying though)

Maybe traditional songs from the scalding sands. He once said that he plays a traditional instrument from the Scalding sands (I forgot which) so I assume that he's more of a guy who likes cultural music.

Personal backstory hc: On one of his travels around the mid 1900s, he came across a local indie metal band when it was at its debut and became an og fan of it before it became popular. In a fleeting time-range according to him, rock and metal has become a popular genre in that time period.

He's quite violent in his affection.

It obviously isn't meant to be malicious but he isn't used to affection that isn't very aggressive.

He doesn't know how hard humans can be squeezed without suffocating and he thinks it's kinda funny to find out.

You can tap out whenever it starts hurting but you know he means well.

After a while of being together, he gains more understanding of gentle hugs and utilizes this.

He still likes being playfully aggressive, but when you're snuggling, he doesn't want to suffocate you.

On that note, he is a big snuggler.

Doesn't matter what time of the night it is, if he wants snuggles, he will sprint to Ramshackle to kidnap you and bring you back to his room.

He wraps his arms and legs around you like a koala so you couldn't escape even if you wanted to.

He's a biter.

A nasty, little biter.

If any of your skin is exposed on any part of your body, he will be on that like a feral chihuahua.

You make the mistake of wearing a crop top for once and he picks you up and takes a nice munch of your belly.

It hurts a bit and he'll always apologize if he draws blood.

How can you say no to his little puppy eyes?

He never intends to hurt you, but he definitely pushes the limits at times.

He ditched work a lot to visit you.

It's got to the point where Azul had to force you to stay in the lounge until Floyd's shift is over so he won't run off.

Of course, if Azul ever tried to trick you into a contract or take advantage of your relationship in any other way, he will be threatened by both Leech twins.

Jade is quite fond of you because he notices how much happier his brother is with you.

Floyd can focus a lot better on whatever he's doing when you're around, mostly because he wants to impress you.

You get great scary dog privilege with both brothers leering over your shoulders at all times.

🪙 Kalim Al-Asim 🪙

He's very, very vocal about his affections.

Even before you were dating, he told you how much he liked you every day, be it over text or in person.

He's also a big gift giver.

It gets a little much sometimes but he means we'll.

You have a whole closet dedicated to jewelry and expensive gifts he's given you, though you rarely have occasion to wear any of them.

Your favorite gift that he gave you is a simple pair of ruby earrings that are small enough not to draw attention and match the color of his eyes.

It's the only piece that ever leaves the closet.

He loves to throw parties in your honor often making up small reasons for you to have a feast.

If parties aren't your scene, he won't make you go but he'll save some of the food to bring to you later.

He'e aware that his attention can be overwhelming at times and he will not be offended if you tell him to tone it down.

He just has trouble with the concept of "tone it down".

Eventually, you make a list of rules which limits him to one party and one expensive gift per month.

Aside from gifts, he's very physically affectionate.

He wants to be touching you at all times.

He usually hangs onto your arm when you're walking together and gives you hugs everytime he sees you.

He doesn't usually initiate kisses because he can't read social cues very well so he waits for you to make the first move.

And even then, he likes cheek or nose kisses better.

Grim doesn't mind you being spoiled because it means he gets lots and lots of tuna as well.

Kalim is a little childish but he wants you to know how much he loves you, in his way or yours.

🐍 Jamil Viper 🐍

In contrast to Kalim's carefreeness, Jamil is very discerning with his affection.

He prefers to keep to himself anyway so he doesn't show a lot of PDA.

Most of your friends didn't even know the two of you were dating until like 2 years in.

Although he won't admit it, he really does crave your touch.

Not as openly as Kalim, but more subtle ways.

He'll find small ways to touch you without it being explicitly affectionate but you know he just wants to touch you.

Sometimes he puts his hand on the small of your back in crowded hallways.

He can claim it's so you don't get lost but you know the truth.

He also will let you into the kitchen when he's cooking.

You may not see that as such a big thing but the Scarabia dorm members know how special that is since he's yelled at all of them for getting within 10 feet of his workspace.

He even lets you help out sometimes.

Even if you know how to use a knife properly, he'll still hover his hand over yours to help you keep steady.

When you're alone, you have to initiate the affection.

He still feels uncomfortable asking for things because he's scared to be shut down so you have to help him along.

He's not a big snuggler, per se, but he likes holding your hand while you lay next to each other.

It's a small enough gesture to not be overwhelming but something you can still identify as affection.

He shows affection in small ways almost imperceptible to someone who isn't close to him.

It's in the subtle way his lips quirk up when he rolls his eyes at something silly you did or how he leans a bit too close to you when you're showing him something on your phone.

It's the comfortable silence in your room while you stroke his hand with your thumb and the texts he sends you every night asking how your day was.

He doesn't seem to be the most involved but you can see how sweet he is and maybe someday he will be able to share more of himself with you without being afraid of rejection.

Appearance

Instead of legs, his lower body is that of a thin yet long snake. It’s more narrow than his shoulders and looks a bit too thin. He curls his tail around himself a lot. His scales are a flamingo pink, and the edges around them are a watermelon pink color. His underbelly is an off-white cream.

Leading up to his stomach are small patches of pink scales going up his small stomach paired with a rose gold and rose quartz studded snake belly button piercing.

His hands are slender but are tipped with long claws that resemble snake fangs, and his fingertips look like they’ve been dipped in a black dye. He has a few rose gold rings with delicate chains, as well as a finger guard on his pinky.

His head is littered with snakes, the ones closer to his face a few inches longer, and each one has an almost terrifyingly beautiful set of large jewel-like eyes, the same color as his own.

His eyes are that of a pit viper, sharp and dangerous, and have a ring of pink scales on the lower eyelid, giving him what looks like bright pink eyeliner. His mouth is full of sharp teeth, with the canines being large flexible fangs and a large forked tongue capable of stretching to eight inches.

Reptilian life and petrifying eyes

He starts his mornings by basking under a warm lamp as he gets ready. He’s a bit sluggish after waking up. Even if he heats his bed, he needs a nice light on him to feel fully awake and bubbly.

Every few weeks, his fangs grow a new set, and it’s a painful process for him. Sometimes it's so painful for him that he has to rip out the old pair. But he often gives his old fangs out like treasures after a quest. He thinks of them as rewards no matter how much his brothers tell him they're not.

He has to be careful to not meet others' eyes. If he does, they can freeze up. They don't turn to stone, but they're paralyzed for a long time. He wears sunglasses to dampen the effect if he does end up looking them in their eyes accidentally, but complains about them and how he wishes he could just look at people in the eyes, his are too beautiful to cover up.

His venom is deadly by clotting the blood. He never uses it and even milks his own venom out so he doesn't have to worry about killing his partners when he goes for a playful nip. Although he does use his venom to make blood jelly desserts for himself.

His snake hair has a mind of its own, but they're extremely sensitive to his emotions; they're dead giveaways to how he's feeling, much like a dog's tail. He often pets them to get them back to the style he likes, and he spends a lot of time grooming them and even praising them.

Spending time with you

He was excited to have fun playing like you. A tiny human in the snake pit of scary monsters whose simple gaze could freeze them and maybe even eat them? He doesn't eat humans and finds the idea a bit barbaric, but he liked to tease you with that for a while after you first met.

After a bit, he started to get attached, heavily clinging onto you. Your warmth was perfect. The number of times he would cling to you and rub himself all over you is uncountable now. He did it so frequently that you stopped bothering to count after a day. He tried to hold on constantly with no breaks. Emphasis on tried.

When he's bored he’ll trail behind you like a puppy, until he sees something that interests him, then he’ll drag you around. He'll take you on small trips if you let him, though if you let him get away with it too often the quantity of trips starts getting excessive. He’ll play with your hair while he’s behind you, running his hands through it and even styling it with random things he has on hand.
