"Kim Lip, over there!" Looking over to where her girlfriend was pointing, the said girl squinted her eyes as she tried to look for what the latter had seen.

Jiwoo had spotted you just as they passed the window, seeing as you picked a table that was noticeable from outside. When they stepped inside the little restaurant they invited you to, she began to look in the direction her girlfriend was pointing at.

But before she could find you, herself, Jiwoo was already bouncing over to where you were sitting. And due to her calling out your name, you were quick to see the pair and flashed them a smile, giggling when you stood to greet Jiwoo with a hug.

“Y/n! I missed you!” She squeals in your ear, making you laugh when you pat her back and then pull away. “I missed you, too. Sorry I couldn’t meet you sooner.” Jungeun stopped next to Jiwoo and smiled at you when she went for a hug as well. “It’s nothing to apologize for.” She assures you. “We’ve barely even got free time, so having to delay a hangout is understandable.” She adds and you all take a seat.

“Oh, yeah. How are things with you and the girls? I saw you performed at the Soribada.” You comment. “Congratulations, by the way.”

"It was nice. A bit hectic since the audience was very limited and there were a few that snuck in to watch." Jungeun explained with a slight laugh. "There were some fansites of ours that had to be kicked out." Jiwoo pouted and you smiled affectionately at how much she really loved her fans.

"Well, when it comes to meeting their favorites, it's really no surprise that they go through such great lengths to see you." Your words made both their hearts flutter and they had to restrain themselves from saying anything because they were afraid of making things weird between you.

You just made it so hard when you spoke so passionately. Everyone could see the spark in your eyes whenever you spoke about the things you loved or things that peeked your interest. It was just so endearing and it was one of the reasons people were so attracted to you. Your friendly and kind nature drew people to you and made you such a loveable person.

"I think that applies to everyone, don't you think?" Jiwoo's smile is much softer as she looks at you, unlike her usual excited smile when she's jumping around and throwing hearts at people.

You hum softly, resting your chin against your hand and cocking your head to the side. "That's true. But sometimes the simple things are worth more than the grand gestures." You tell them and Jungeun nods her head in agreement. "I think that's what people forget these days. Wanting to do all of these things is nice, but if it's going to put them in danger, I'd rather they watch us from the safety of their own homes." She says with a bit of a grimace.

"What about you, two? What have you been up to?" The pair look to each other, smiling and then turning back to you. “There’s nothing much, but we did go on a date after the award show. Since things have been a bit hectic, we thought a little breather was the best option.” Junguen explained while she took the other girl’s hand in her own and gave it a squeeze.

You giggle at your friends while nodding your head. “If you guys wanted alone time, you could have said so, silly. We could have rescheduled our hangout, I know you have a lot on your plate.” You tell them before Jiwoo pouts at you. “But we wanted to see you! Lippie and I are with each other all the time but it’s so rare to get an off day to see you.” She explains while she subconsciously reached for your hand from across the table.

There’s something else shining in her eyes that you don’t quite understand, but she smiles at you in the same manner she usually does before pulling away. “Trust us, we’re more than happy to spend time with you.”

“And speaking of you, how are things with Hansuk?” Jungeun asked curiously while you showed her a grin and clapped your hands. “Oh! We’ve been doing great. He’s been really sweet, waking me up every time because he made breakfast, saying he wants to at least spend the morning with me before he goes to work.” You explain, pausing when a waiter came by to take your orders.

You had quickly given them what you recall to be the girls’ favorites, looking to them briefly for confirmation since you were all so caught up in conversation to check at the menu, and Jungeun had nodded whilst Jiwoo looked absolutely love struck when you turned back to the waiter to tell him your own choice before he went off.

“You guys look like you’re doing really well.” Jungeun said softly while you blinked in confusion. “What?” Jiwoo giggled at your expression before clarifying. “We were talking about you and your boyfriend, remember? Jeez, Y/n, you’re so forgetful sometimes.” She jokes while you pout. “Hey, I remembered your favorites, didn’t I?”

And that was a fact that made butterflies erupt in their stomachs.

"Well, I guess that's true." Jiwoo giggles while resting her chin against her hand. "I have to make sure my girls are well. Of course, I'd remember what you like, not just your food." Junguen reached over to lightly hit your shoulder despite the blush that was creeping up her neck when she laughed. “Why are you so cheesy?” She asked to mask her embarrassment and you burst out laughing too, the sound ringing beautifully in the pair’s ears.

It never failed to bring a smile on their faces to see you so happy.

"Okay, okay. We get it, you love us." Jiwoo giggled at you and you smiled brightly while nodding your head in approval. "Obviously, I do."

But despite that, they wished that you meant it more than what you actually did.

Because even though they were already dating each other, they would be lying if they said that they didn't feel for you what they felt with each other. Being friends for years, the affections only increased and the fondness developed into something that was far beyond friendship.

The moment they had agreed to become idols was also the moment they had decided to confess to each other how they felt, and it was fine for a while, until they had seen you for your graduation.

Seeing you again made all the memories you three had together come crashing down and they're reminded that their feelings were not exclusively for each other.

After graduation, they saw you quite often. It may not have been daily, but they saw you every week when they had the time. They were lucky enough when it was twice a week. But when you inform them that you started dating one of your other friends from high school, they were a bit disheartened to see you because of how often you spoke about the boy.

“Hey?” You called out, a confused look on your face though a smile still stayed. “Is there something on my face? You’re both staring.” You say with an embarrassed chuckle and covering your face with your hands. “Hey, no! There’s nothing on your face.” Jiwoo giggled despite her embarrassment of getting caught staring and Jungeun merely reached forward to pry your hands from your face. “Stop it, you look perfect… ly fine. So don’t worry, okay?” She had to quickly add the latter part of her statement just to cover up what she wanted to say and then flashed an awkward smile.

You ended up blinking at them and then your eyes fell to your joined hands. You had to slowly pull away with a crooked grin and then nodding your head, unaware of the hurt that crossed the latter’s face.

Luckily, your food arrived in time to push away the awkward air and you hummed in delight. “Oh, right. We’ll be sort of busy with preparing for the comeback next week, so I’m not sure we can see you.” Jiwoo explained apologetically before she saw the saddened look in your eyes.

Even when you had shown them a reassuring smile, it was clear that not being able to see either of them was sad news for you. And upon seeing that, they were quick to try and cheer you up.

“It’s not going to be that long. There are going to be days we’ll drop by and hangout.” Jungeun quickly states. “Yeah, and while we’re gone, you and Hansuk are able to see each other often, right?”

You pause for a while before Jiwoo notices the forced smile on your face when you nod your head.

“Yeah, we will.”

Right after practice, the girls were scattered around the practice room with the majority of them laying on the floor just so they could rest their legs while others were getting their things ready and still filled with energy.

“Kim Lip, get your girlfriend. I’m too tired for this.” Sooyoung groaned as she draped a face towel over her face just to prove her point and the hyper girl next to her laughed while shaking her arm in an attempt to piss her off. “Come on! We’re going home, anyway.” She claims, making the latter grunt and her girlfriend to laugh.

Jungeun got up from her place and walked over to extract her girlfriend from her best friend and handed her a water bottle. “Come on. I think you’ll want to do something else other than annoy Yves.” She stated, catching the other’s attention. “What?”

Showing her phone, your conversation was pulled up and Jiwoo scanned the most recent ones before her whole face lit up in delight. “Are we going to see her?” She squeals at the nod Jungeun gives her before giving her a quick kiss on the cheek and then jumping over to her things and preparing while Sooyoung peeked from under the towel.

“Oh, thank god.” She muttered while sitting up. “I love Chuu and everything, but I don’t think I love her enough to get myself deaf.” She stated jokingly and Jungeun chuckled when she helped the latter to her feet. “It’s part of her charm.”

“You’re both loud. I can only pray for Y/n since she’s the quiet one out of you three.” That earned her a smack on the arm. “Yah!” But she only raised her arms in defense. “Thus proving my point.” She laughed and Jungeun barraged her arm with punches, though not hard enough to hurt her friend.

Off to the side, Jiwoo happily hoisted her bag on her shoulder. “Y/n, Y/n, I wonder if she ate already.” She glanced at the time and gasped. “We should get some snacks, just in case.” From beside her, Yerim grinned at the familiar name. “You’re going to visit unnie?” She questioned and the older girl nodded enthusiastically. “Kim Lip asked her if she was home, so we’re going to surprise her.”

“Can you give this to unnie? Last time, she gave us food so I wanted to give her something in return.” Yeojin produced a bead ring from her bag and Jiwoo smiled while taking the small gift. “I’m sure she’ll love it.” She beams before looking to find her girlfriend wrestling with her leader.

Laughing, she walked over, grabbing Jungeun’s bag in the process before pulling her off Sooyoung. “Come on! I want to see Y/n already!” She announces, and Jungeun huffs before taking her bag and nodding her head. “Let me just tell Haseul unnie and then we can go.”

It wasn’t really that much of an issue for them to visit since you would only stay indoors, plus your place wasn’t that far away from the dorms. So after informing Haseul and saying goodbye to everyone, the pair set off to see you, stopping by a cafe to buy some food like Jiwoo said earlier.

By the time they arrived at your front door, Jungeun was holding the paper bags filled with snacks and then Jiwoo was fishing for the key you had given them in the event that they wanted to drop by, much like today.

There was a thud from behind the door and the pair looked at each other just as Jiwoo pushed it open. Peeking inside, they called out. “Y/n? You alright?” Jiwoo asked as she looked around, kicking her shoes off, followed by the latter.

Of course, they weren’t too sure what they would be walking into when they arrived at your place, but they were very sure seeing your boyfriend towering over you, arm raised in what looked like he was ready to hit your cowering form, was not one of them.

Dropping the bags, Jungeun sprinted over to shove the male off of you whilst Jiwoo hurried to your side, pulling you away from your stunned boyfriend and furious best friend. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Jungeun yelled angrily as Jiwoo looked you over, her heart sinking when she saw the small bruises on your jaw and neck.

By the looks of it, there was more that trailed down under your shirt, and it made her heart hurt to see you looking so damaged like this. “What did he do?” She asked softly and you curled up in her arms while Jungeun refused to let the male near you.

“I can have you sued for trespassing, you know that?” Your boyfriend yelled but if his intentions were to scare your friends off, then that was not working at all with the way Jungeun’s glare intensified. “This isn’t your place, and we have keys, dumbass.”

Glancing over her shoulder, the girl felt her anger flare up when she saw Jiwoo cradling you as you quietly sobbed into her shoulder. Her eyes were back on the male before she’s lifting her phone up. “I’m giving you one chance. Get out, now, or you’re going to end up in court.” And unlike Hansuk’s pitiful threat, it was clear that she was not bluffing as she had a number already on display.

“S-Screw this.” Clicking his tongue, Hansuk left almost immediately like a dog with his tail tucked between his legs, knowing that he was no match for an idol with a company to back them up. And though you were just friends with them, it was very clear that they would help you put him in jail, and he could not have that.

Right after he left, Jungeun spun around and dropped to her knees so she could get a good look at you while Jiwoo did her best to calm you down. Her fingers continued with brushing your hair while she kept your head against her shoulder, whispering sweet nothings to soothe your nerves.

Jungeun cupped your cheek and gently, her thumb grazed over one of the newer looking bruises. She held her breath as she looked to see if she was hurting you but relaxed when you looked at her. Your teary eyes made her heart ache and Jiwoo let out a sigh.

“Can you get some ice?” She asked quietly, making the blonde nod before she’s off to the kitchen to grab an ice pack, passing the bathroom so she could grab the first aid kit as well just in case there were more than just bruises on you.

Meanwhile, Jiwoo, who was usually the bright and happy girl you knew, was frowning when she cupped your face to get another look at you. “How long has he been doing this?” She questions and you struggle on deciding whether or not it was a good idea to lie to her or not.

But this was Jiwoo and Jungeun. There was no way you could lie to them. At least not again.

“Two months ago?” You mutter, not entirely sure when the dynamic of your relationship had changed. “He came home from work. He was with his friends without telling me and I was just worried but he got upset and then…” Your lower lip trembled at the memory and thankfully, Jiwoo didn’t push any further as she just tightened her arms around you and nodded her head.

For two months, you were battling this on your own? Why didn’t you tell either her or Jungeun?

Knowing that you were along in this caused her hold on you to tighten before she pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “You’re going to be fine.” She whispered before Jungeun joined you, handing the ice pack to her girlfriend and then looking at you with her lips pressed together.

“Can I look?” She asked while gesturing to your shirt and Jiwoo pressed the ice to your jaw, causing you to flinch. You bite your lip before looking down because of the question and Jungeun reaches forward to touch your face, stopping you as she runs her thumb over your bottom lip while staring into your eyes. “Don’t do that.” She tells you. “I don’t want you to get even more hurt than you already are.”

The action and the way she speaks so softly makes your heart flutter and you do your best to hide the way she’s affecting you, but Jiwoo makes it worse when she presses her cheek to your head and her other hand moves from your hair to the small of your back. “We need to check if you have any other injuries.” She murmurs and you make a small sound before reluctantly pulling away to lift your shirt.

“Promise me you won’t freak out.” The sentence alone makes them want to protest, but the pleading look in your eyes causes their mouths to shut and they nod before you finally lift your shirt to reveal the various bruises left on your skin.

And even when the obvious hand prints stared right back at them, Jiwoo was able to keep herself from saying anything as she just held you closer when her girlfriend began to apply some ointment on the bruises, double checking for any scratches.

“Why did he do this?” Jiwoo couldn’t help but ask you and you swallowed thickly while playing with your fingers. “He was… he was starting to suspect you two.” You mumbled and they could feel the nervousness radiating off you when you avoided looking at either of them. “He was telling me how I shouldn’t hang around you guys so much, and that it didn’t even matter since you had your idol careers.”

Remembering his words caused tears to spring into your eyes again. Every ounce of anger and hatred that laced his voice whenever he talked about the two, etched in your mind. He hated it that you defended them and that you would not hesitate to pick them over him, but he always managed to string you back into his clutches.

“One day, he asked me, you’re not like that, are you?” You let out a shuddering breath. “You’re not one of those. He talked about you like… like you weren’t a person, and I just-”

A sob forced itself past your lips and Jungeun put everything back in the kit before she took your hands in her own while Jiwoo continued to rub your back.

“Y/n, listen to me. Whatever he said, it isn’t true.” Jiwoo says firmly. ��Just because he can’t accept us does not make you invalid. You don’t need him.” Jungeun adds when she reaches to wipe away your tears. “You can be who you are and love whoever you want. All that matters is you’re happy and safe.”

You let their words sink in and suck in a deep breath, your heart hammering against your chest. "What if�� what if the person I liked was already with someone else? And the only reason I was with Hansuk to get over them?"

Jungeun isn't sure how to feel with the revelation. She's upset, yes, because if you didn't really love Hansuk, why did you force yourself into a relationship with him for this long? Why didn't you just tell them the truth? Was there something she was missing?

Jiwoo, on the other hand, was quick to speak as she brushed your hair from your face after setting the ice pack aside. "It's okay. Sometimes we make these decisions that we think will help us. You were hurting so it was understandable that you needed something to distract you from the pain.” She murmured softly while kissing your temple. Even if she was curious as to what it was you weren’t telling them, she needed to make sure that you were okay first before anything else.

Your eyes shift from Jungeun to Jiwoo before they fall down to your own hands, seeing as Jungeun kept her own atop of them, squeezing when she could see that you were thinking about something, afraid to tell them what exactly it was.

“Y/n, it’s okay. Whatever it is you want to say, we’ll listen. We aren’t going to hurt you.” She assured and you nod your head, knowing full well that it was the truth. It was just your own fear and insecurity that was pulling you back.

“I like you.” With a quick breath, you shake your head. “Both of you. And I know it’s weird and crazy, but I just didn’t know what to do. You’re my best friends but you’re together and idols, on top of that so I know that neither of you would see me the same way.” Due to your rambling, you failed to see the way the two look at each other and only looked up when Jungeun joined in to wrap her arms around you.

“Oh, Y/n.” You felt so small being in their arms, but it did give you the sense of security that you needed after Hansuk’s violent episode earlier. “You have no idea how much we wanted to hear you say that.” Jungeun chuckled when she cupped your face, causing your mouth to snap shut.

We weren’t sure how you would react, so we never brought it up.” She explained. “But then Hansuk came along and we really thought you liked him, so we backed off.” Jiwoo played with the hem of your shirt from behind. “Had we known, we would have said something sooner and we could have kept you from getting hurt.”

The reminder of you being injured made the pair frown but you were quick to shake your head and offered them a smile, taking both of their hands in your own and squeezing them. “It’s okay, he’s gone.”

- Um Oh Ah Yeh by MAMAMOO || This song reminds me of the 90s/2000s and there’s something about Kalim that also does that for me. Maybe it’s the not a care in the world disposition. I can see and feel in the second verse’s rap, Kalim’s warm smile. I can imagine him grabbing my hand, telling me to chin up. The choruses make me think of simpler times. Finally, Kalim seems like he’s always having a good time just like this song

The peppy beat of it just makes me think about how he almost always is smiling!

The song tastes like iced tea and feels like nostalgia. When I look at Idia I see my past self and even present self. I’m afraid, I want to hide. The feelings the verses gives me reminds me of laying in bed, curled up in a jacket that hides my whole body, similarly to Idia’s. The song and Idia’s character call out to a nostalgic but soft side to a distant past I can’t recall. I want to stay with them until I can remember

The energy and the “I’ll show you” vibes remind me of this big dweeb. I would fear this man but turn to love him much like how I felt about this song as it was this artist’s first song. How do I say they just embody each other in my opinion lol

- FINGERTIP by GFriend || Everything about this song is exciting. It’s suspenseful and alluring. If this song was a person, I could clear as day see it winking, whispering “chase me.” And that is exactly Rook’s brand of teasing and games. He’s a hunter but he’s got a charming aura to him still. This song wraps both of those things into it. The dance break is Rook’s darker senses personified. Umji’s lil “OW!” is he’s cute lil remarks in french, throwing you off now and then. I feel this song encapsulates a lot of what can only be speculated about him

- Crème Brûlée by GFriend || the soft, sweet song is addictive and cutesy. I feel Silver gets written off or ignored often, similarly to this song on the album. Sure he may not be god or a bad bad bitch, but he has his own warmth to him. Like this song, Silver makes me wanna curl up under a tree on an August evening and just take in life, making sure to breathe for once, releasing unnecessary tension and stress.

Sebek

- Black Dress by CLC || Sebek is very interesting to me and when he blushes, my whole heart stops for a second. It’s similar to how when they build up to the chorus‘s first Black Dress and the music stops for like a split second. Sebek isn’t my favorite but isn’t my least favorite. I like him more than some though, I’d say. I’d say the same goes for this song. I love CLC, this isn’t my top song of theirs but I still like it a lot. There’s something uniform about the beat that resounds with Sebek as getting shit done in mind also. Sometimes a song just makes you think of a character and you can’t perfectly explain it

And while Trey isn’t my number one boy, those are the exact feelings I have about him too. Finally, the rap part reminds me of Trey’s more sadistic side, it bites and you may not think it fits entirely but the more familiar you get with them, the more both fit and you don’t mind it entirely

Riddle, despite the kind of guy he is, is the same way. The power he holds is impressive and admirable. Favorite - Lie

Favorite went semi-viral with “Loca” before kind of disappearing for a year, but they came back with “Lie” in March. If you liked “Loca” then you’ll enjoy “Lie” as it has a similar vibe. It’s a really good song and it’s a shame that this song hasn’t gotten as much recognition, because they really deserve it! Go give the song a listen, you won’t regret it!

Yezi - Home

You might recognize Yezi from Unpretty Rapstar or from her former girl group, Fiestar. She’s more known for her rap songs, but this time she mixed it up with home! It’s a really good song with a softer vibe and a powerful chorus.

I’m not sure if you guys know, but all of us admins adore Sejeong and absolutely LOVED this album. I bought a signed copy myself, and she actually won a music show award with this song! It’s a soft ballad so I know it’s not for everyone, but I’d recommend you all give it a listen. It really strikes you in the heart and makes you think as you listen. It’s very melancholy but inspiring at the same time.

I’m sure most of you have heard of AleXa by now. She’s a dancing powerhouse and I love watching her live stages. She’s doing really well and if you like more “loud” sounds like Loona’s “So What” you’ll like this song.

(G)I-DLE - Oh My God

Again, I’m pretty sure all of you have listened to this song by now. They really said gay rights! If you haven’t looked at the lyrics for the English version yet, you definitely should. That being said, they killed it once again.

Cignature - Assa

I have been gushing about Cignature since their debut so I’m sure I sound like a broken record, but they’re incredible! This song is about being proud to be yourself and not minding being an outsider, and like with their debut, they’ve blended their cute image with a girl crush side, powerful dancing, and incredible live vocals. The song and music video just make me so happy!

DALsooobin - Dive

DALsooobin, or Subin of Dalshabet, just released another self composed song. This is a similar vibe to Yezi’s home, a slower song that is also uplifting and shows off her vocal talent!

Keembo - Thank You, Anyway

Keembo is a duo made of former Spica members Boa and Bo Hyung. This song is also quite somber, but the vocals are incredible, as expected from the vocalists of Spica! I really miss Spica and I hope you give this song a listen!

Apink - Dumhdurum

We got our yearly Apink comeback! As always they never disappoint, this song is so addicting and the aesthetic is absolutely gorgeous. If you haven’t listened to this song yet, do yourself a favor. You’ll fall in love.

BVNDIT - Children

So this is actually a prerelease leading up to their comeback, but it’s just so good and I wanted to share it with you all. It’s exactly my type of song and really gives me Hoody and Oohyo vibes. It’s a slower song, but their vocals are on point and the dance is actually really cool (I believe two of the members choreographed it).

April - Lalalilala

We were all so excited when we heard that April would be coming back this month, and they didn’t disappoint! This song calls back to Kara’s songs while keeping April’s vocal-heavy style and it’s seriously a bop! I’ve been listening to it nonstop, as well as the rest of the songs on the mini album! Once I get over this writers block, I’ll hopefully be able to write something for them because the music video really inspired me. Anyway, please go give this song a listen!

HA:TFELT - 1719

HA:TFELT, or Yeeun from Wonder Girls, just released a full album and lots of music videos for the songs on the album. There’s Satellite, Sweet Sensation, Solitude, Life Sucks (tw: this mv has blood), and most recently Cigar. Every single song on the album is incredible and so beautifully artistic and I hope you’ll all take some time to check it out!

Chungha - Stay Tonight

Another prerelease single and oh my god, Chungha killed it with this song, but did we really expect any less? Do yourself a favor and listen to this song, as well as watch a few choreo videos. The dance is incredible.

Oh My Girl - Nonstop

Oh My Girl is one of my favorite girl groups of all time, and they did not disappoint with this comeback! My bias Mimi seriously killed the raps and the entire song is just so addicting to listen to! “Nonstop” also debuted at #1 on the charts, their first song to do so! I’m happy to see them getting more attention both in South Korea and internationally, they seriously deserve it.

GWSN - Bazooka

GWSN never disappoint! Since their debut, they’ve quickly become my favorite newer group. “Bazooka” is a fun, upbeat song perfect for the spring, and all three b-side songs on the mini album are fantastic! If you haven’t listened to a GWSN mini album, you absolutely have to do yourself a favor and check them out! Their vocals, visuals, and even physical albums are just top notch.

I have three ult groups - ONEUS, LOONA, and cignature, so why not? The weekend’s starting, it’s snowing outside, and I’m answering for all three!

1: who was your first bias?

oneus: xion loona: gowon (loyal from first sight baybeeee) cignature: sunn

3: what was the first mv you watched by them?

oneus: twilight, i’m pretty sure, but i can’t remember exactly loona: love 4eva cignature: nun nu nan na

4: what’s your favorite mv?

oneus: ooooooof this is a hard question. i’d say ‘to be or not to be’ - i love all the dark, symbolic imagery, the incorporation of the dance shots, and just in general how cinematic it all was. except i hate the guns part and i wish it didn’t exist, it’s so upsetting every time, especially for an mv that came out in 2 0 2 0 :/ otherwise it’s gotta be ‘lit’ loona: yves ‘new’. in case anyone hasn’t figured this out, i’m a lore fiend. and ‘new’ has so much lore in it via symbolism and visual language, which i LOVE. cignature: ‘arisong’ is so colorful and pretty and over the top, plus it has that weird tangerine tree made of hands WHAT.

5: if you could only listen to one of their songs for the rest of your life, which would it be?

oneus: ‘blue sky’, i could not imagine life without ‘blue sky’ loona: ‘hi high’ cignature: probably ‘assa’

6: who would you want to see them collab with?

i’m gonna go off the rails here and throw out some ideas that aren’t even remotely within the realm of possibility oneus: steve lacy (i would love to hear one of his funky guitar licks on a oneus track) loona: phoebe bridgers cignature: not really a collab, but i would love to see them get a track produced by mark ronson. 

7: what (mv) concept do you want to see them do?

oneus: weird but very, very aesthetic, i’m thinking exo ‘ko ko bop’/shinee ‘married to the music’ sort of vibes, or even red velvet’s ice cream cone/dumb dumb eras. they were going there with ‘no diggity’, but i really want them to lean into weird aesthetic choices just to keep everyone on their toes. also keep giving me lore MY GOD. loona: this is weird to answer for loona because they’ve tried almost everything, so i think i’d like to see them do something like a trippy dreamscape with no connection to reality whatsoever. i’m talking mind-bending mc escher stuff. cignature: they should start developing their group characters soon, and i’d like to see them go with something (not to invoke rv again) perfect velvet-esque to do that. I think they’d really fit that vibe.

okay one time i had a dream that there was a oneus concert at the mall but that’s it

9: if you could spend the day with one member, who would it be and what would you do?

oneus: youngjo and we’re going shopping boooooiiiiiiiii. i want to steal his look. also i’d just like to hang out and talk about art or something. loona: kim lip. during the fansign call i was in, she was just the coolest and i could have kept talking to her for a while longer. things felt chill and friendly. going to an amusement park with kimberly lippington. cignature: god they are all so sweet alskdjalkdj i’d want to hang out with yeah and practice dancing or just goof off. either way i would be in full Protecc mode with all of them because these are BABIES to me. except youngjo, i might fight him.

10: which member do you think you would get on with best?

oneus: probably xion because we’re both goblins. perhaps seoho because we both have to say weird stuff or we’ll die.

loona: probably hyunjin because we’re both goblins who make animal noises randomly and love bread.

cignature: probably yeah because we’re both goblins who do our best to make people around us laugh.

11: which member do you think you would argue with?

oneus: leedo, oh undoubtedly. it’s amusing to me how clearly i can imagine our personalities running counter to one another.

loona: choerry and i cannot possibly explain this other than to say she gives me little sister energy (love her)

cignature: none of them, i honestly think they all seem sweet as he*k

12: if you had to let one member scroll through your tumblr, who would it be?

the only answer for all three groups is youngjo because i figure he wouldn’t even register half of what was going on anyway but might occasionally be like “cool picture”

Part 33

Blitzo, Moxie and the others sat around their large conference table, thinking in silence. The air was stiff, the tension rose after each second. Blitzo: "So what are we gonna do about this?". Down at his hands sitting on the table was one Hell Spawn crunchy nugget, the most loved and delicious foods out of all of hell. It was the last piece apparently. Millie: "Well, we could split it up evenly, you know, share it between each of us". Moxxie smiled at his wife's sweet consideration while everyone looked at her like she was stupid.

Blitzo: "We could do that but I think some people might want more then others, anyway it's a tiny nugget and it won't give much to split it up". Loona: "WELL I WANT IT!". The angry hell hound slammed her fist on the table, shaking the wood. Blitzo: "Now, now, Loona we have to be fair, it should be obvious that I should have the whole piece". Everyone angrily scowled at his words. Millie: "What? How is that fair?". Blitzo changed to a very proper and self important pose, flicking his tail up. Blitzo: "Well because I'm the boss, it's only fair that I have more joy then all of you". He smiled a wide grin, showing of nearly as much teeth as another grinny demon we all know.

Moxxie: "Sir, I think there's more important matters then a simple nugget, matters like the giant crowd of rioters outside our door". In the distance, they could all hear the loud calls and shouts of angry demons down below. Blitzo: "How could something like that be more important then He'll Spawns delicious nuggets?". He said that with drool slowly coming out of his mouth.

Moxxies annoyance became more obvious, this annoying demon as his boss was too much to bare. Moxxie: "*Sigh* sir-". Before he could continue, the door suddenly rang, it was a surprise since no one should be able to get into the building since the front door was locked. Reason why, the rioters were still outside. Millie jumped up in enthusiasm, throwing her hand in the air. Millie: "Oh sir, I'll go answer that". She then made her way off the toward the door. Blitzo: "Alright but if it's one of those rioters, you know what to do with them". She agave a salute and wink to her boss followed by an air kiss to her husband, which he delighted himself in seeing from her.

She walked to the door, putting on her best smile and opened the door with enthusiasm. Millie: "Welcome to the I.M.P, how can I help you?". When she opened her eyes to see who it was she, her eyes shot wide open with fear. Standing in front of herztowerinf over her small size was none other than Alastor. He stood at the door, his smile plastered on his face looking at the small creature. Alastoe: "Hello there".

Millie ran into the conference room panting. She wasn't far from them but the shock caused her breathe to be taken away. Moxxie stood up in panic on seeing her while the other two stared in confusion. Millie: "The, the the the the, the ray-. The the ray-". Blitzo: "Come on Millie, don't speak like your disabled, you can speak properly". Moxxie walked over to his out of breath wife, holding her in his arms. Moxxie: "It's OK Millie, take a deep breath". Millie followed his instructions and took a deep breath in and out. Moxxie: "Ok, now, whats wrong?".Millie: "It's the, the... ITS THE RADIO DEMON!". Moxxie: "...what?".

Everyone stared at her in disbelief. They must of heard her wrong, the radio demon, why would he be here? Everyone poked their heads around the door, to their surprise he really was here, one of the most feared and powerful demons of hell, was standing in their building. Blitzo: "Do you know what he's here for?". Blitzo whispered as quietly as possible to the others, not wanting to let the terrifying being know of their presence.

Millie: "I don't know, I just welcomed him in and told him I'd get the boss for him". Blitzo side glared at her, probably annoyed thinking he'd want anything to do in this situation. Blitzo: "Alright, we can't just ignore this or we're all dead, someone needs to talk to him, Moxxie guess your up". Moxxie: "What?!". Before Moxxie could say anymore he was forcefully pushed into the room. He steadied his feet and straightened himself up. Now he was in front of the tall terrifying beast who stared him down with his signature smile.

Alastor: "Are you the owner and boss of this establishment?". Moxxie started swearing profusely his heart beat and believed in his mind this might be his last day alive. Moxxie: "W-well no, I'm not but-". Alastor: "Because I would like to talk to the owner of this place". Alastors' face contorted again, the symbols and dark static formed around his body. Before the situation could get worse, Blitzo showed himself. Blitzo: "Well hello there sir, my names Blitzo the owner and creator of I.M.P, how can I help you?". Alastors' murderous intent and horrifying figure disappeared in a flash from Blitzos voice.

He straightened himself up to turn to him, he glared at the Imp which he ignored. Moxxie however didn't look all that well but was relieved to see him before his untimely end. Blitzo signaled for him to leave which he took immediately. Once he turned the corner he dropped almost fainting from the heart attack he just had. Whilst that was happening, Blitzo put on his best smile and started a conversation with the demon. Alastor: "Well, I wanted to request a visit to the mortal world". Blitzo looked at him surprised, he didn't think even he would have any loose cannons but guess he did. Blitzo: "Of course, who do you want us to kill?"

Alastor: "Oh no, it's not someone to kill just some information I wanted to get from the living". Surprised again, Blitzo didn't understand what kind of information he wanted. Blitzo: "Um, well we don't usually do that but I guess we can make an exception, what is it you need?". Alastor: "Oh don't worry on it, I plan to go myself". Blitzo: "Uh, you want to go on your own?". Alastor nods his head as an answer. Blitzo: "I don't mean any disrespect sir but I'm not sure I could allow that".

Alastor: "And why is that?". Blitzo: "Well it just-". Alastor: "Of course you'll be awarded handsomely". This caught Blitzos' attention, a price from him could reach the millions. They'd be richer most nobles if this went well. Blitzo: "Really?". Alastor looked at the his scaly friend with certainty which Blitzo recognised. Blitzo walked towards the door, a huge smile on his face. Blitzo: "Give me a minute to discuss".

Blitzo grabbed all his friends for a group huddle, all of them were listening to the conversation. Loona: "I like what he's serving". Blitzo: "So do I, listen, if those goes out well we could milk this guy of all the wealth we can get, we'll be richer then we can even manage, what do you all think?". Everyone's smiles were wide with the definite yes except Moxxies'. Blitzo: "I don't think I like that face on you Moxxie, what could be on your mind that could always you from this? We'll be rich".

Moxxie: "I'm not sure sir, witnessing that dark side of him in person wasn't the best experience, I don't really trust this guy". Blitzo: "Come on Moxxie, your mothers back side probably would look worse and this isn't about trust it's about the money, sooner or later those rioters will be gone and we'll be filthy rich". He squeezed his companions in a hug, absolutely thrilled about it.

They all went together to speak to the tall demon. Blitzo: "So we all discussed and we'll accept your request". Alastor: "Excellent, now where may this portal be?". Millie: "Oh uh, this way sir". They all walked in a row towards the said portal, Blitzo at front, Alastor behind him and the other 3 behind them. At the end of the hall was a large door, on the other side was a nearly empty room. All except a table with skulls, strange plants and a giant book at the centre of it. On the ground in front of the table was a pentagram drawing with candles all around it.

Blitzo then signalled to his companions which they went straight to the pentagram lighting the candles. When all candles were lit the pentagram drawing burst into flames. Blitzo: "So, about that reward?". Alastor turned to him but realised what he said. Alastor: "Oh yes, name your price, it can be anything that is within my power of course". The words, "name your price", hit well with the others.

Blitzo thought for while to consider the options and make a reasonable price. Blitzo: "I say maybe, 50 million dollars?". Everyone's eyes almost popped out, that price is too much for even the rulers of hell. Alastor smiled in amusement, he wasn't very fazed by the price, which gave everyone some hope. Alastor: "Hmm, alright". Blitzo: ".....wait really?". Alastor: "Of course, like I said, a special request deserves a special reward but I will pay you after I'm back". Blitzo: "Of course, we'll be waiting".

Alastor approached the flaming portal, staring into its fire. Millie: "Don't worry about the flames, it's completely harmless". Alastor: "Oh don't worry my dear, that isn't what I'm thinking about". With one step, he was in the portal, he could see the flames engulf him but like the little demon said, it didn't hurt. He opened his eyes once more to see what was around him, it was the living world, he's never seen it this different. Time has flown by pretty fast in his case.

He wondered the streets, getting confused looks from passerbys' no one however feared him. Only looks that say, "What a weirdo?" but he ignored them all, it didn't matter to him what they thought all he could think was to figure something out. As he continued his walk he came upon a church. A place to worship god, to worship the good and clear the sins. Maybe this place will give him his answers.

He walked into the holy place, the air was a bit suffocating for him but nothing he couldn't handle. At the bed of the great hall stood a lady dressed in black wearing a necklace with a cross on it. She saw the man approach her and placed her best smile. Nun: "Hello, welcome to the St Louise Cathedral, is there something I can help you with?". Alastor looked to the young holy maid, trying to look as human as possible. Alastor: "Yes my dear, I've had a question for a while now and was hoping I could get answers here".

Nun: "Of course, ask away". Alastor: "I was wondering is there a way sinners or even demons could be redeemed?". The bun looked to the man, confused, she had never been asked something like this. Demons? What did he mean by that? Nun: "I'm sorry to say, I don't fully understand the question or at least know how to answer, but I'm sure our priest who watches this cathedral could answer".

Alastor twitched in annoyance, which he didn't show. He didn't want to stay here too long for his own good but he had no choice. He followed the young man to a room. There sat an old man, reading papers and wearing white robes. Priest: "Oh, sister Kaylee, is there something you need?". Sister Kaylee: "Not me father but a man here has a question he's been seeking answers for, he's hoping you could answer them". Priest: "Of course, what are your questions?". Alastor: "It may seem strange to ask but, is there a way sinners or demons could be redeemed?".

The priest was taken aback by this question. He maybe a man of holyness but he was still a human. Priest: "Hmm, that's a hard question to answer, what brang such a question to your mind?". Alastor thought for a moment but turned back to the holy man. Alastor: "Well, to be honest it isn't a question for myself per say, the love of my life asks this question everyday, she truly is one of a kind, thinking that demons could be redeemed and sent to heaven and we'll, I want to help her with this question". Priest smiled at the man in front of him, even sister Kaylee felt warm over his consideration for his love.

Priest: "Well, it's hard to say, when a sin is committed, there is a way of making your life right as you are alive but to become a demon because of that sin, it will be a lot harder of a task, not to say it's impossible but the fact of it, it will be a struggle". A moment of silence was then placed in front of all of them. Sister Kaylee: "May I intrude with a thought sir?".

The young lady stepped forward to him with the question. Priest: "Of course sister Kaylee, what is on your mind?". Sister Kaylee turned to Alastor to tell him. Sister Kaylee: "From what I know of sins, they can be redeemed through therapy, help from others, them changing their ways and rehabbing them, it maybe possible for it to be the same in regards to demons. Letting go of their ways of sin and instead trying to find the light and positive maybe a way, it is just a thought though but I hope it helps".

Alastor closed his eyes to think, the hotel is made as a rehab centre so it may work but he didn't exactly know the first thing on rehabbing, maybe he could investigate it. Alastor then perked up, turning his attention to the two in front of him. Alastor: "Thank you, I think I have a better idea now". They both smiled satisfied for him. Alastor: "I will take my leave then". Sister Kaylee: "I'll help you out". Alastor let her pass first. Alastor: "Thank you my dear". Sister Kaylee slightly blushed at his words, no ones ever spoken like that to her before, he old style he spoke in was kind of cute. Priest: "I'm glad I was able to help you good sir, hope you have a good day". Alastor: "Thank you". And with that he left the church lost in thought.

It's been his first time in a while being so proper and down to earth with people. Usually others of lower class wouldn't look at him, go near him or speak to him at all in hell. Those that were the same as him spoke in a sharp and demanding tones, making every word they spoke as if they want to shake the ground. He would do it too but in the place where he was, he had to lower that tone. They didn't even mind his looks, his sharp teeth, red eyes or eery presence. How strange humans can be? Of course it took a lot of self restraint to not let his demonic bloodlust take over. Blood would be everywhere in that church if it did lose control. He didn't want blood all over his suit when he went back to his love, now would he?

15 Underrated Girly Kpop Songs That Make Me Go Absolutely Feral

When it comes to girl groups, more than anything I am a Blackjack and Blink. I like to listen to girl songs that make me want to murder men (and believe me, that blog post is in the works). But I’m also a ONCE, as TWICE are my sweet darling babies, but they’re about as girly as I can tolerate. I’m not one for the super girly concepts. I mean, did you guys ever see MINX? Occasionally I ironically jam to Shakey Love Shakey Shakey Shakey Shakey Love, but it was an absolute blessing from the K-pop gods to rebrand them as Dreamcatcher. It’s really only the A-list girly songs I tolerate, like GFriend or Oh My Girl. Everything else below them just seems really cringy.

Except for a few chosen few that are so good that they make me absolutely lose all of my shits. And I’m talking about songs that nobody seems to know like at all. Either these songs came out when the groups were still under the radar, before they had their big smash hits, or they just never seemed to rise to the top. But they are still valid and important. Videos are linked in the song names, since Tumblr won’t let me add more than five videos, but here we go.

15. April- Dream Candy

April is one of those rare groups that pull off the girly concept so well but don’t ever seem forced, like they are just truly naturally sweet and pure and precious. Honestly all of their songs are great, and it’s tragic that they haven’t had a comeback in 2019. But their debut, Dream Candy, is the one that really gets deep in my soul to that animal part of my brain that makes me scream this god damn chorus. But only really at the end. I never really listened to this song until it came on shuffle one day when I was walking home in the rain, and thought, why not listen to this awkward girly song, and then the last chorus hit and OH MY GOD. It’s a good one guys.

14. Momoland- Jjan! Koong! Kwang!

So this song comes out by some unknown group called uh, Momoland?, with a title that is just a bunch of sounds that don’t exist in English, and I felt like I was the only one on Earth that was like, “This is fine.” I was honestly in some I Am Legend universe where instead of me being the only living person on Earth, I was the only one that liked Momoland’s debut. As time went on Momoland started putting out what is pretty much some of the worst K-Pop that exists (I mean, have you SEEN the video for Wonderful Love? Try not to cringe challenge) and sadly enough this group just faded into obscurity and never had any huge, Earth shattering hits or anything. 

13. DIA- My Friend’s Boyfriend

On paper this song is awful. I mean it’s a song about being a petty bitch who has decided to steal their friend’s boyfriend, hence the title. Also the song ads cute little quirks like *squints eyes to read this metaphorical paper closer* coughing. Also the video has an unnecessarily long intro. But believe me when I tell you that this is an absolute slapper.

12. Gugudan- Wonderland

It’s a crime that Gugudan has never really hit it off, even with two I.O.I members. Their debut has this amazing Little Mermaid concept and believe me when I tell you that this chorus is best when screamed at the top of your lungs. After all the screaming I am basically in a manic state by the la la la’s.

11. LOONA 1/3- Love&Live

You’ll notice that the main theme of this list is that the choruses are absolute fire. But this one comes in and basically knocks the wind out of me with sweetness, like some kind of aegyo Kool-Aid man. It’s really the music that does it for me in this one, along with the melody, along with Heejin’s perfect high note. If this song doesn’t make you smile then you are a robot, like ViVi. 

10. Shannon Williams- Why Why

If Ant and/or Dec were here, they would hear this song and definitely say that Britain’s Got Talent. Shannon is the British IU,hands down, undeniably, I will not be taking questions at this time. But it’s very sad that her career was nonexistent after this came out. Was it the fact that this features a sixteen-year-old grinding against faceless boys? Or that this video widely revolves around her intensely stalking someone? It can’t be the song because that is perfect. 

9. AOA- Bingle Bangle

Okay so some history for those non-Elvises out there. AOA was THE HOTTEST girl group for a good minute, with so many timeless collaborations with the Brave Brothers that really changed the shape of female K-Pop for a while. And then ChoA left the group. And without the only member who could actually sing the face of the group, AOA kind of went quiet, save for a few Jimin solo songs. Then AOA came back with a new sound, and while everyone else thought it was terrible, I thought it was a bop! And I love the video and the concept! And the dance for this is so fun. Bingle Bangle is a real yes for me dawg. It’s only too bad that they lost yet another member and their concept was handed off to FNC’s new girl group. Speaking of which...

8. Cherry Bullet- Really Really

Yeah so they literally gave this entire “girls in a video game but it’s fun and cute” concept to Cherry Bullet, and they hit the ground running with it. This comeback in particular is my favorite of theirs because it hits one of my favorite pop music tropes: Having A Funky Instrumental Chorus, Only At The End To Put Words Over The Music. It ticks all my boxes.

7. Rainbow- Whoo

If you ever wanted to hear a song that made you scream “RAAAAIIINBOOW AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!” then this is it. At this point in this list we start to hear the songs that make me truly insane, and this song absolutely destroys me. It’s really sad, however, that this is basically Rainbow’s swan song, as it was their last song before disbandment. 

6. Matilda- Macarena

I bet you haven’t even HEARD of Matilda. I bet you didn’t even KNOW that MATILDA just DISBANDED a FEW MONTHS AGO because ALL THEIR SONGS WERE BAD except for THIS ONE which is just full of CHAOTIC GOOD ENERGY and if you don’t ENJOY THIS then GET OFF MY LAWN. 

5. Berry Good- Angel

Berry Good was destined to be one of those girl groups, like Matilda, that came from a tiny company and was just given bad songs and were set up to fail. So they crowdfunded, and somehow made two incredible comebacks, Don’t Believe (which is a whole other story that we won’t get into today, but it’s an amazing song that you should check out) and prior to that, Angel. I don’t even know where to begin with this song because it literally makes me forget who I am and why I exist. It’s a banger?? This song starts off so soft and pure and jumps right into a chorus that makes you bang your head and scream “I TAKE A CHANCE, YOU NEVER KNOW” as loud as possible. And right when you think you can’t take it anymore, that you are gasping for air because you are drowning in perfection, THEY GO EVEN HARDER. Like, girls, you did not need to go that hard. Holy shit. They go full IU in Good Day. I don’t know why we were blessed with this, especially since after this all their other songs have been garbage, and they’ve been so unsuccessful that they lost their strongest member and they’re heading for disbandment. But we have this gem, and I’m thankful for it.

4. 4Minute- Heart To Heart

Back when 4Minute was just another 2NE1 clone, trying to compete in the market of “Girls Who Look Tough But Are Actually Sweet” 4Minute, aka The HyunA Group, put out this. Third Geners, this is what Second Gen was all about. This is the meaning of Christmas, Charlie Brown. This song is everything. It’s perfect. And it’s too bad that 4Minute didn’t really stick with this sound, but also not, since with their more mature concept they wound up getting pretty famous once Park Bom... I mean, we’re not gonna talk about it. 

3. Hyolyn- Bae

Okay so I know that Hyolyn as an entity is not technically considered underrated, but her entire solo career is being slept on and I don’t understand. With Sistar gone, and now Red Velvet carrying the torch for summer anthems, Hyolyn doesn’t necessarily have to give us one of the best summer songs of all time but she did. Every second of this song to me is perfect. And yeah okay I’ll admit it, I am a Gay, I am attracted to women, and Hyolyn is a lot of. A lot of wow. She and HyunA are exactly my type, and this video is a lot. But the SONG you guys. It’s so much that I told even regular people who listen to English music to listen to this song. They didn’t, of course, because the world doesn’t appreciate Hyolyn like I would, I mean like I do as a fan and nothing else. This song was my summer anthem in 2018, Power Up wishes it was this good.

2. BESTie- Thank U Very Much

One of the things that really got me into K-Pop during the Second Gen was that it sounded so much like pop music from my youth. This is gonna sound weird, but I grew up in a Wiccan Neo-Pagan household where 90% of the music we listened to was traditional Celtic or New Age, and if it was ever anything else it was like The Beatles (my Mom and her sisters were one of those screaming and fainting Beatles fans, the trait that was clearly passed down to me, based on what happened when I saw G-Dragon live, but that’s another story) or ABBA, or any kind of British/European pop/rock from the 70s or 80s. So once I was old enough to really find out what kind of music I liked, I dived deep into cheesy pop songs like S Club 7, Britney Spears, and the like. But I always had a soft spot for ABBA. The melodies, the music, the strange lyrics that didn’t really make sense or weren’t quite grammatically correct but it worked. I feel like that love for obscure pop, along with the 90s and early 2000s bubblegum pop, pushed me right into the K-Pop scene. And this song is the best example of that kind of weird melody with oddly used English words, but it works in the best way. The chorus of this song sounds like it was written by ABBA. The ending of this song is transcendent. Tell me you can’t picture a Korean Meryl Streep in overalls singing the ending of this song while dancing on a beach. This song makes me lose all my shits. But I do have to say that this video is uh, Not Good, especially compared with how amazing the song is. But these underrated bottom of the barrel groups don’t have much to work with in the first place, so we can’t really fault them. This song holds up, and is going to hold up for a very long time. I stan.

1. Laboum- Shooting Love

So like I said before, I don’t typically like the super sugary, super tacky, super girly girl concepts. BUT I LOVE LABOUM. ALL their girly sweet songs are AMAZING. They somehow get everything right, in their own unique way. They’re not at all like “Oh, they’re like GFriend”, “Oh, that’s like Lovelyz” or anything, if you get what I’m saying. Laboum had their own cheesy yet perfect style of girly. Aalow Aalow: A CLASSIC. Journey To Atlantis: A CLASSIC. Hwi Hwi: A CLASSIC. Only U: YES YOU GUESS IT, CLASSIC. Sugar Sugar: DON’T MAKE ME SAY IT AGAIN. I could have made this whole list with just Laboum songs. So I made myself pick one by listening to as many old Laboum songs as I could before I would become an absolutely menace to society, as I am not responsible for my actions after listening to so much girly perfectlon at once. If I was arrested and went to court for I dunno, causing distress and mayhem to the citizens of my city, my lawyer would call it “the Laboum defense.” “You see, Your Honor, my client listened to a lot of Laboum songs, and lost control of themselves and became an entity, a ball of energy, a comet destroying everything in its path while screaming cheesy Korean lyrics.” And I would be set free, of course, because who wouldn’t lose themselves completely to the power of Laboum? But anyway I picked Shooting Love, as it puts me in a manic state from the very intro until the last second. And let me just say now that I deeply mourn this old Laboum, as they came back in 2018 with a new concept that makes them sound lobotomized compared to their old sound. Like slow R&B is fine, but compared to this it’s drab and slow and dull and I hate it. I Hate It. Bring back cute Laboum in 2020, or at least study Apink if you want to see how to properly change an aging cute group into a mature group. I could go on, but now I have the urge to listen to more Laboum. You’ll see me on the evening news tonight, I’m sure.

Pure J-rock-style bliss. It's SO good I lose my mind, takes me back to the emo days... The instrumental reminds me of the bands I used to listen to and it's still catchy.

17. Pink Magic - Yesung

Pure, sweet, floaty, dreamy, retro magic. This song just sounds pink. It makes me want to close my eyes and just lie back.

16. SSFWL - Oh My Girl

Admittedly it took me a minute to get into this song, but when it clicked, dear god it fucking CLICKED. This song feels like you're flying in the clouds, way above the world, filled with love. And the tulle dresses are to die for. I'm a sucker for a good "lalala" too.

15. Deja Vu - Dreamcatcher

The way this song switches so easily between ballad and rock song is indescribably gorgeous. Couple this with the hype I was riding after seeing them live and it's an instant love.

14. BByong - SATURDAY

Anyone who knows me knows that this HAS to be on my list. Was it the best song released this year? No. It's not even their best song. But this marks the time where I went, you know what fuck it I'm throwing my wallet at everything they do and I did and I love them so much I hope they make it- Haneul's rap destroyed the rap game, go home.

13. What Are You Waiting For - Anda x R.Tee

This beat does not AGE. I'm still not tired of it. It's so unique. I love the choreo, I love Anda, I love the MV.

12. MIROH - Stray Kids

I love the arrangement, the beat feels nostalgic while also going hard and the MV is so pretty.

11. You Calling My Name - GOT7

This came out of NOWHERE. I'm not even that interested in GOT7 but the moment I heard this I was hooked. It's so interesting, simple and quiet, it commands your attention.

10. Midnight Aria - ARIAZ

This is Butterfly and Girl Front's younger sibling. It's such a good debut, they've earned my DOTY daesang (debut of the year).

9. LION - (G)I-DLE

I didn't want to include this for a while. I've been very distant from I-DLE this year after it became clear that their CA concept was not going to go away... but I have to admit I loved this song. It's so commanding and strong and catchy. I love the shouty high notes Minnie does before the second chorus, so much.

8. Passionate Love - Kang Xiwon

This song is so high because not only does the chorus go hard, but because she deserves it. Her company got bought out like a week before her comeback and the MV was lost but they went ahead anyway but the song is SO GOOD.

7. Butterfly - LOONA

I could not make a top 20 2019 list without this. It has had such a huge impact on so many people, from the inclusive MV, to the powerful choreography, unique instrumental, the way it ties into the LOONAverse, telling us we are all part of this together. Choerry Gowon rap supreme

y/n!!” you smiled to yourself as the all too familiar voice rang out from behind you while you were taking your bag out of the backseat of your car. a pair of hands found themselves on your shoulders and spun you around, causing you to drop your belongings, “oh my god, look at you! gorgeous as always. still not on my level, but you’re definitely close.”

“nice to see you too, seungkwan,” you said, smiling and hugging the boy in front of you.

“i want a hug too!” you pulled back from seungkwan to look at who was standing beside him and holding out your dropped bag to you. giggling slightly, you took the bag and slung it over your shoulder before giving him a hug.

“vernon, your hair’s gotten so long! it’s so pretty,” you complimented, tugging at a strand of hair that had fallen loose of his bandana (we’re going back to ‘adore u’ era vernon, dont @ me).

“eh, i decided to try it out. you really like it?” he asked, grinning slightly. you nodded affirmatively, “seungkwan and i just got checked in. you should go check in too, then we can walk around camp and catch up.”

“got it. i’m gonna go set my stuff down in the cabin too and say hi to the girls, but i’ll meet you by the flagpole in half an hour?” you received two thumbs up and a wave from each boy as you walked towards the booth set up in the front of camp.

“y/n, you’re here!” solji, one of the head counselors, said when she saw you approaching the booth, she and the rest of the girls in the ‘hot pink’ cabin, aka the girls’ counselor cabin, were getting everyone checked in. you smiled and waved at her, giving her a hug over the table when you got close enough. she checked your name off on a list she had in front of her and handed you your camp tote bag that all campers got at the beginning of camp. it was filled with little summer survival goodies, like a camp t-shirt that had a new design every year, a camp water bottle, sunscreen, etc.

after checking in, you made your way to the ‘wind flower’ cabin, the cabin you had been staying in since kindergarten, when you started coming to ‘camp seoul’. as usual, all four of your roommates were already there and unpacked. you had the door open for half a second before a blonde blur attacked you, wrapping her arms around your back and squeezing you tightly, before pulling away and looking you up and down.

“you look no different than last summer, y/n, just as beautiful,” solar praised, beaming at you and baring her dimples, “god, i’ve missed you.” she pulled you in for another hug before the other girls came over to greet you as well.

“i’ve missed all of you, of course.” you threw your bag on one of the beds and looked back to the girls, “anything new happen?”

“hwasa and wheein got together over the school year, but that’s about it,” moonbyul told you, shrugging and gesturing to the two younger girls, who were now holding hands. you jokingly pouted and crossed your arms.

“but now i’m gonna be a fifth wheel to you guys, since moonbyul and solar are already together.”

“you’re still my favorite girl, y/n,” hwasa said, winking at you and earning a slap from wheein.

“excuse you?”

“don’t act like she isn’t your favorite girl too, wheein.” you laughed, checking the time on your phone before getting up and heading towards the door.

“well i would love to stay, but i promised seungkwan and vernon i’d meet them to catch up, but i swear that all five of us are staying up and talking all night, okay?” you insisted before saying goodbye and walking to the flagpole near the front of camp.

seungkwan was at your designated meeting place, as expected, but surprisingly vernon was missing. instead, wonwoo and mingyu were there waiting with the shorter boy. as soon as you had gotten close enough, wonwoo turned his head after he noticed you out of the corner of his eye, a bright smile lighting up his often stoic-looking features. you grinned back and went to wrap your arms around him while saying hello, moments before you were engulfed in mingyu’s embrace soon after.

“i think you’ve gotten shorter since last summer!” mingyu teased, ruffling your hair playfully. you pouted and lightly punched his arm as seungkwan and wonwoo laughed.

“you’ve probably just grown even more, tall-ass!” you mocked, turning to face the same way as the other three as you all began walking down the path that led to each cabin, but doubled as a casual walking trail, “okay so i need to be caught up. what’s happened over the past year that i need to be filled in on?” seungkwan took a deep inhale before beginning to tell you everything.

“well seokmin fell down the stairs and broke his leg in seven different places so he was in a wheelchair for a month, joshua pushed him around the whole time because he’s an actual prince, chan finally hit his growth spurt and now he’s still short but not as much, plus he has a much deeper voice, jihoon lost a bet, so soonyoung dyed his hair bright blue, then soonyoung wanted to match so he dyed his own hair red and now he claims they’re purple together or something weird like that, jun and minghao kissed on new years eve but they claimed not to remember it, these two got together finally,” seungkwan jabbed his thumb at wonwoo and mingyu, who you now noticed were holding hands and sheepishly smiling at the ground (CUTE), “and seungcheol skipped class to bleach jeonghan’s hair in the school bathroom a few days before school ended, so now he looks even more like an angel.” your gaze swiftly shot up at the mention of jeonghan. seungkwan smiled and gave you a knowing look before elbowing mingyu next to him and pointing to you.

“yn’s gonna go nuts when she sees him. one of you two tall-asses will have to catch her when she faints,” he said, snickering with the other two boys. practically everyone knew you had been head over heels in love with jeonghan since sophomore year, except for the man himself, which you were perfectly fine with. it all started during the summer when he had hit puberty and your attention was drawn to him constantly during that month. you had always known he was attractive, but it had hit the next level that summer, when all of his features stood out beautifully. he cut his hair, which was formerly down below his shoulders, into a style where his bangs were a tad longer than the rest of his hair, and the sides were cut short, making him look princely, in a way. (i’m thinking boomboom era) sometimes he would style it in light waves, which you often liked to play with when you were both together. of course, his looks aren’t what made you fall for him. he had been sweet to you before, and you think something had been there, but it wasn’t until sophomore year that you finally understood and determined your emotions whole-heartedly. the way he changed visually just helped draw more attention to what you felt. you and jeonghan had always been closer than anyone else in the group, from kindergarten until now. though, the past few summers, you had been distancing yourself from him in hopes of relinquishing your feelings, even just a little bit. but the more time you spent away from him, the more you wanted to be around him. somehow, despite your constant awkwardness and even the most loose-lipped people in camp knowing, (cough soonyoung cough), jeonghan hadn’t the slightest inkling that you harbored a strong liking for him. and hopefully, you would be able to keep it that way. 

“shut up, seungkwan,” you muttered, rolling your eyes before attempting to change the subject, “why isn’t vernon here?” at your question, seungkwan scoffed and kicked at the dirt.

“he was busy talking to that stupid jungeun or kim lip or whatever from the butterfly cabin.” you sighed before looking up at the visibly annoyed boy next to you.

“so you still like vernon?”

“obviously. but he’s my best friend and i don’t want to ruin that or whatever,” seungkwan answered, “but if i could make out with him, i’d totally be up for ruining our friendship.” you laughed before looking over to wonwoo and mingyu, who were talking quietly.

“where’s everybody else? i want to say hello to my boys!” 

“i’m pretty sure all of them went to the mess hall,” mingyu said, pointing in the direction of the large building at the front of camp. you nodded and motioned for the other three to follow you there. 

the second you stepped inside, you noticed that a majority of the camp was already there, due to the noise level and how crowded it was. but that didn’t stop you from easily spotting the other boys from the ‘pinwheel’, ‘chilli’, and ‘highlight’ cabins talking together near the fireplace. a smile spread across your face as you hurried to the large group of boys, who were now joined by vernon. they seemed to be so immersed in conversation, they didn’t even notice you standing by them.

“i’d appreciate it if i wasn’t ignored by you guys when i haven’t seen you in almost a year,” you announced loudly, catching their attention, a chorus of “y/n!” ringing out soon after. seungcheol was the first to stand up and hug you, almost crushing you in the process. next was the extremely hyper chan, who was now taller than you, followed by the rest of the group. when you thought you had finally greeted everyone, you tried to start a conversation with jihoon, before being interrupted halfway through your first word.

“oh, so no hug for your best friend?” you tensed up at the familiar voice, slowly turning around to see a boy holding his arms out and grinning from ear to ear.

+There’s just something that activates in my brain when I hear this song. Just this primal part that makes me want to listen to it like seven times in a row. Put simply, this song is addicting to a scary degree. It certainly has that signature Twice poppy production, but here it’s handled perfectly. Not overblown or too off putting. Just right. It’s amazing.

2) Gfriend - Navillera

+Maybe the best use of strings in a kpop song ever. The intro to this song promises an epic song and wastes no time in hitting you with not only incredible vocals, but a truly spectacular set of synth stabs. And don’t even get me started on the bridge. Yuju’s high note makes me shiver every single time I hear it. It’s fucking great. It’s just about perfect.

3) Shinee - Sherlock

+It’s the opening refrain. Shinee’s back over and over rings in your head. Pretty much the textbook example of how to create tension in a song. You sit on the edge of your seat wondering what is about to happen and then it hits you. Everything is resolved at once and you almost faint. Shinee really is back.

4) EXID - Up&Down

+One of the truly few perfect Kpop songs. Literally there is nothing wrong with this song. The rap verses aren’t out of place or odd. The instrumentation is engaging without being grating. The vocals. My god the vocals. Solji is one of the best vocals in all of the Korean entertainment industry. My goodness. A truly special song that deserves more respect. 

5) Brown Eyed Girls - Abracadabra 

+The reason I like this song so much is that it certainly sounds dated, but oh my goodness if it doesn’t still sound good. Like absolutely incredible sounding. Especially the chorus. That chorus is a monster and cannot be beaten. Mixing disco influences with 2010 style edm, this song is a straight classic. 

6) F(x) - 4 Walls

+I feel like this is a weird choice out of the rest of them above it because it is so understated. Yet, this song deserves to be up here. Now it may not be the best F(x) title track, Red Light deserves that title, yet this is the F(x) song that I listen to the most. Why? It’s a perfectly crafted deep house track with an amazing chorus. It’s just so goddamn good. 

7) Apink - Mr. Chu

+People tend to hold up this song and NoNoNo as Apink’s best songs and generally give them a lot of respect. And yet, no one ever really talks about why they are so good. In Mr. Chu’s case it has to be the subtlety and restraint that the song uses as a form of musical storytelling. The slow buildup with the meoldy, the heartbeat you can hear in the background sometimes, and the gentle vocals of Apink perfectly explain the song without even reading the lyrics. Just a very sweet song.

8) Red Velvet - Russian Roulette 

+The first Red Velvet song I heard and a pretty perfect representation of their concept and sound. A pop song on first glance that seems pretty simple, but when you take a closer look it shows how complex it is. It’s like a hybrid between disco and chiptune and it really is an iconic song. 

9) Loona/ OEC - Sweet Crazy Love

+Loona truly is underrated. Much has been said about their predubt project, with twelve members being introduced and three sub units debuting as well, yet I feel like not enough attention is put on the amount of work that OEC put into grabbing people into the Loona world. And no song does that better than Sweet Crazy Love. Arguably the crown jewel of all the sub unit’s songs, SCL manages to blend all of the sub units solos into one positively divine masterwork. Incredible stuff

10) Girls’ Generation - Gee

+What I would consider THE perfect Kpop song. All elements of this song are in their proper place. Not a stitch is showing. So amazing. This is the mark I hold up for what is considered a fun pop song. Just amazing.

Ranking all the 12 Loona solo singles! 7-5

So okay, what I’m gonna do here is rate each of the predebut Loona solo songs that introduced each of the 12 members. This post is number 7 through number 5, three songs, leading up to my top four.

7. Love Cherry Motion by Choerry

This song…… I’m sure every Loona fan who has a lot of opinions about music in general has a LOT of opinions about this song…….. This is easily one of Loona’s weirdest examples of experimentation haha. It sounds like a Katy Perry song almost all the way through the end of the chorus, it sounds fun and upbeat and bubblegum. And then…. oh boy and then….. It just straight up switches genre for an EDM-like synth dance drop when everything in the music video gets really dark and almost scary, as Choerry is transported to an alternate dimension. The song goes back to normal as if that never happened though, and you’re lulled back into the infectious catchy bubblegum-ness of it, until, again, the end of the next chorus, when the drop is EVEN harder, EVEN scarier, suddenly everything goes dark purple, the other two members of Odd Eye Circle are there, there’s an extra nasty grimy synth on top of the ones that were there the first time, and then she sings a bit here kind of merging the two genres of this song for a finale to the song, when Choerry is so far down the alternate dimension rabbit hole where everything is reverse, the grass is purple, the sky is purple, there are three moons in the sky, etc. What a wild song. The reason this is only number 7 is twofold. First, the beat drop was definitely pretty jarring at first, though I’m used to it and a fan of it now. Second, again, common theme… I just like the others so much lol

6. Kiss Later by YeoJin

So… okay. I thought I wouldn’t like this song. YeoJin is the youngest member. She is currently 16 I believe, and was 14 during the making of this video I think? When I was first going back and watching the videos I was SO WORRIED. So, so worried. They better fucking not sexualize a 14 year old. Oh my god the ice is so thin. Then I watched it and looked at the lyrics and listened to how fucking good this song is… And all my fears were gone. The song is about consent. It’s about someone who likes her and who she reaaally likes back, but she isn’t ready to kiss yet, she isn’t ready to move that fast. It’s a song about not rushing things, and establishing boundaries and trust, and not letting yourself be talked into anything you don’t feel comfortable with. “just hug me for now, kisses will come later” is basically the message. She’s a kid and it’s a song about being a kid and not trying to rush adulthood. Just enjoying kid-hood while it lasts, not trying to lose your innocence until you’re ready, I guess. 

So, on top of that more serious message, hahahaha, it’s one of the most fun videos and songs Loona has ever released. The video is full of frogs, full of stop motion filmmaking… and the song is full of these GIANT, POWERFUL brass horns… gahdamn… in the prechorus it just goes so loud and powerful. They didn’t have to do this song this way. This could have been a lazier instrumental, more childlike, but no… not at all… Loona? Lazy instrumental? Impossible. The “bap bap baa”s throughout the song are something I didn’t even really notice until this very listen as I’m writing this right now. 

One of Loona’s most interesting songs musically to me lol. She’s also a very good singer for her age, and her energy is boundless. That’s more obvious watching Loona TV behind the scenes stuff, but she’s like a fireball ricocheting off walls, she’s just so loud lmao. I really like this song a lot.

5. Everyday I Love You by ViVi

This song…. is SO DAMN SWEET. In a really satisfying way. It’s so pure, it’s so sweet, ugh it makes me so happy. I love this song so much despite it not being even a little bit in my wheelhouse lol, I never used to like songs like this. Maybe it’s just cause I’ve fallen for the group already that I was able to open myself up to this and appreciate it for what it is, but idk, I also just think it’s a fantastic song. ViVi’s such a different voice than the rest too. I don’t think it’s just accent or whatever, I mean, I wouldn’t really be able to tell anyway cause I don’t speak Korean, but she’s the only member who isn’t a native Korean speaker, she’s from Hong Kong. Still though, I don’t think that’s it, I think it’s just that her voice is a little more… low? Mature? Breathy? I… am not a singer… I don’t know how to describe it… She’s also the oldest member. We’re the same age, she’s just a couple months younger than me, so maybe she has one of the more trained voices? I wouldn’t know. Anyway whatever it is about her voice that sets her apart, it certainly does that. 

The video is so cheesy, very 90’s inspired (despite her being only 4 years old by the end of the 90’s, just like I was lmao, so it’s just like the video producers’ nostalgia shining through), and is the only Loona video with an explicitly heterosexual romance in it, and really one of the only ones with a male character who isn’t a background dancer? I think? So that’s unfortunate, the dude has a bad haircut and I don’t like his style lol. EXCEPT SIKE, THAT’S NOT WHAT’S HAPPENING, TURNS OUT LATER ON WE FIND OUT THAT’S NOT NECESSARILY A BOY, IT’S PROBABLY YVES AS WE FIND OUT IN HER MUSIC VIDEO. Oops the only heterosexual Loona video was secretly gay (or bi) the whole time. Anyway this song makes me happy. Specifically… there’s this one part in the second verse…. the line is like “and i’m smiling at you” and aaaa the way it’s sung and the way the music stops to give this line a lot of very cozy impact is sooooo good.
