i'm one hundred percent certain that after percy and annabeth made out underwater. and he wanted to make their relationship official. the question was not "will you be my girlfriend?" but "can i be your boyfriend?" i don't care what the canon says. percy gave annabeth the space to take the lead in the relationship. because after a lifetime of being abandoned by everyone she dared to care for. and then watching her on the brink of a panic attack at the thought of losing him the last four years. he wanted to honor a new beginning between them by follow her lead and moving at her pace.

The fun thing about the clones is that because they don’t have last names, whenever you write their name before another character who does have a last name, they read like a couple. Like ofc Cody is Obi Wan’s husband, it clearly says “Cody and Obi Wan Kenobi.” Or “Bly and Aayla Secura,” they’ve been together for ages! The clones are syntactically husband-shaped!

Gale: more than once, entirely accidentally, and he immediately followed it with such a deluge of other words that no one noticed

Astarion: he insists he was being sarcastic

Minsc: he did this exactly once, ages ago. The only person who talks about it is Boo

Lae'zel: far, far more likely to call her commander than mother, but she does it in a tone that might as well be "mom"

Minthara: no one can decide if it's scarier if she was making a joke or if she was flirting

i imagine ascension doesn't happen instantly.

maybe it's a slower process - with each step into the void sea, you lose more and more of yourself. maybe it would give an ancient enough time to consider: is this what they really want? to leave everything behind? maybe it's not too late to go back, to something they loved after all?

but it's too late, the process has begun. thinking they have escaped, they realize only a shadow of their former self remains.
