When Inuyasha picked her up by the collar of her shirt she let out a small, questioning chirp then looked at the half demon, listening to his words. This was going to take some getting used to that's for sure. "I--" She was about to protest, to counter, just something but given what just happened, she couldn't lie and say she was fine. The child gave a sigh. "This is gonna be super weird." She muttered, cheeks a bit red as she moved to hug herself a bit.

"I... I'm not used to being," She paused, thinking of the right word. "Coddled? No, I don't think that's right." Kari muttered, looking down until finally thinking of the right word, relaxing her arms as a bitter sweet smile crept upon her features and a distant gaze danced in her eyes. "I'm not used to being... Cared about like this." Her voice was cold, as if a sudden realization hit her like an arrow to the heart.

That was when Kagome walked in with her first aid kit. Kari immediately packed up her emotions with a swiftness, burying all of her feelings and putting on a mask of sorts. The child looked up at Kagome and waved. "Good morning Kari." The teen said with a smile, moving to approach the child. "I'm gonna check your feet real quick and change the bandages." Kari gave a nod and Kagome got to work with a happy hum. "Did you sleep okay? I mean, Inuyasha rushed in here pretty quickly last night when he heard something." Kagome lightly teased the half demon, but she knew he meant well.

Kari blinked, looking at Inuyasha with slight shock. The half demon rushed to her side when he heard her suffering from nightmares? Kari shook it off and gave a small grin. "Oh, uh, yeh. I just have a lot of nightmares is all. It's hard for me to sleep through the night. No big deal." Kari chirped, brushing aside her own emotions, causing Kagome to freeze.

"No big deal?" The priestess asked. Kari gulped. "Kari, you haven't been getting proper rest for a growing girl your age. You need at LEAST eight hours of proper rest to get healthy followed by three meals a day with some snacks. How long have you been having nightmares?" Kari was hesitant to answer, not enjoying the scolding but eventually the child caved.

"As long as I can remember." The child chirped to which Kagome just let out a disappointed sigh.

"Well, that's gonna end soon." Kagome huffed. Nightmares were hard to combat that's for sure, but at least she could try and make sure the child rested. "Aside from that your feet are healing pretty well, though they are definitely really irritated that's for sure. They probably feel super sore." She muttered then moved to clean the child's feet, causing Kari to flinch. "I know, I know I'm sorry. But I don't want them to get infected. Thankfully there aren't any that are super deep which is good. It means they'll heal sooner. But they'll still hurt like hell so no walking until I give you the okay." Kagome informed, then began to apply an ointment to both help heal the wounds and help with the pain. "This should help. It's---"

"COLD!" Kari shrieked in surprise as the clear gel hit her skin and Kagome gave a nervous smile.

"Yea. Cold. Sorry, but it'll get better. It's just that initial touch that's really cold. Kinda like getting into a pool for the first time." She informed then gently rubbed the ointment along Kari's feet so all the wounds were covered then rebandaged the child's feet. "There. Good to go." She sighed then looked at Inuyasha. "Inuyasha, you up for carrying Kari to that weird sealed tree or do you want someone else to do it?" She asked, giving the child a side glare when she noticed Kari move a bit. "You are not walking." Kagome's voice was firm and Kari sat back down. "Geez yu're stubborn. Even more so than when I first met Inuyasha, and that's saying a lot." Kari's hair bristled.

"N-No! I'm not stubborn! I'm independent!" Kari retorted, causing Kagome to sigh.

"Well not you can be dependent on us. You have no idea what's out there and you are a child. You can try to relax at least a little and let us help." Kari blinked at Kagome's words and slouched a bit, not fully accepting this but let it be for now. Kagome sighed and looked at the half demon not too far away, awaiting his reply to her question.

Inuyasha cracked one eye open at the sound of Kari stirring, his ears twitching at her soft words. He wasn’t used to waking up with someone basically glued to his side, but he supposed he’d dealt with worse.

“Tch, you don’t gotta thank me,” he grumbled, though his tone was softer than usual. When she hugged him, he stiffened for just a second before sighing and letting her have her moment. He wasn’t exactly good at this emotional stuff, but if it helped her, whatever.

Then, just as quickly, she was trying to stand.

“Oi, don’t—”

Too late.

The yelp, the stumble, and then the dramatic faceplant. Inuyasha rolled his eyes, sitting up fully now. “Yeah, no kiddin’ they hurt worse,” he muttered, reaching out to grab her by the back of her collar like a scruffed kitten and pulling her up so she wasn’t just lying there like a squashed bug. “That’s what happens when ya push yourself too hard, genius.”

He set her back down a little more gently this time, arms crossed as he stared her down. “You gotta let ‘em heal, got it? No dumb ideas about walkin’ around till they’re better.”

His ear flicked at the sound of the others moving outside the hut. “Keh. Bet Kagome’s got somethin’ for the pain, so quit whining. You’re stuck restin’ whether you like it or not.”

Announcing: Joker Out Big Bang 2025

Did you enjoy the JOblr Secret Santa gift exchange? Are you already looking forward to the next event? Do you enjoy creating together and for each other, for other fans, as a community? And do you want to go bigger and bolder with it?

Then look no further, because the first official Joker Out Big Bang is here! You might have seen these events happen in other fandoms, but if you have not, you might ask:

What is a Big Bang?

To put it simply: It’s a coordinated posting of fanworks. The general idea is to post a whole lot of fanworks, all at the same time and thus create an “explosion” of fanworks, aka a Big Bang. (Maybe it’ll even get the band tag trending. #GlobalDomination /j)

For the most part, the centre of attention in a Big Bang are fanfics paired with fanart, but works can also include other mediums such as moodboards, collages, edits, gifsets, etc. The point is that a writer's work gets paired with an artist to get visual additions to their work.

All works are united under one hashtag both on tumblr and in one collection on AO3 and are shared by the other participants and the official blog – so everyone gets to be part of one big collective.

This year's Big Bang event will have a Creation Phase up until the end of March, and works will be posted from the 7th - 13th of April.

Sign-Up will start tomorrow and then you have until the 20th of January (late arrivals until the 25th, but we suggest you don't wait until the last minute) to join, afterwards the Sign-Up will close and the fun of creating will begin – Well, the planning stage of it, at least!

Hey. Sorry about the inactivity, but pretty sure no one cared that much anyways lol. Been a looooong time since I kept that distant from Tumblr…at least now I know I’m able to survive without checking posts every day/being chronically online! I’ve got an intense love-hate relationship with this lifestyle I’ve dug myself into. Think I’m getting a little bit better with the balance even if school isn’t really giving me an option.
