I know it’s easy for people to say oh Isabeau just needs to switch coaches and “fix her jumps” as if it’ll happen in a few months time but if you’ve been here long enough and seen skaters who try and correct their technique it really isn’t as simple.

theres all sorts of different flavours and foods in the world but sometimes theres nothing more comforting and reliable than the "basic". vanilla ice cream. salted popcorn. white rice. toast. porridge/oatmeal. cinnamon doughnuts. plain chips. pasta with butter or olive oil. so humble and unassuming but where would we be without them

personal rant this time instead of general political shite
being a trans guy in ballet around showtime is so fuckinh difficult i've been blessed to have a supportive school and group but it's me and one slightly older guy who is very obviously a much better and more experienced dancer then i am, he can jump fully over my head and the point of the storyline is we're 'competing' with each other (it's swan lake-inspired so very gender roles-esque) and it makes me feel so shit every time i'm near him cos he has this cisman stage presence and this insane dancing ability that i cant compete with at all. he's 6 foot tall (im BARELY 5'6) and i love him he's lovely but i kind of want to kms every time i'm around him lol
that's it thanks xoxo

I was watching a video on what German forces in ww2 thought of allied soldiers and apparently Americans were seen as sub par both individually being undisciplined and not too tactically skilled and only a threat due to material advantages. Now while that sounds like cope to me, how did Americans perform comparatively compared to their allies and enemies.
It depends on at what point during the war.
In the beginning, the US were not very skilled, as seen in battles like Kasserine Pass. The US didn't have much training, the reasons of which vary from tradition to the Great Depression. The same was true of the British, who despite pioneering close air support in World War I largely forgot the techniques in the interim, forcing them to relearn it all over again in the African theater.
But the US improved their training and became much more effective as the war went on (as did the British). By the end of the war, the US were among the most highly-trained and militarily-effective fighting forces of the Allies, capable of supporting multi-theater operations at fast tempo and accomplishing their objectives, easily the equal of the British or Germans and far more capable than the Soviets, who even very late in the war made severe operational mistakes (deploying armor in cities, accidentally bombing Stockholm, etc.)
Thanks for the question, Cat.

To any other self-taught knitters who have it ingrained in your hands to knit the first way - let this be your sign to relearn your muscle memory. I finally fixed it after years of knitting the first way. It's not as hard as you think and it goes SO MUCH FASTER. Actually finishing large knitting projects is within your grasp if you will do the ~10-20 rows of practice it takes to rewire your muscle memory. Same goes for purling.
There are 210 stitches in each row of this project. It requires 148 straight rows of plain stockinette stitch and that's just for the *back half* and I honestly thought I'd die before finishing it. No longer. In two days I did like 30 rows just in my free time.
Please. Please fix your technique, it's so worth it.
