Analysis

Tomoko is in a weird place, being an alright Support, but with a niche in increasing the Effect Hit Rate of allies. For the allies, that do care about getting effects inflicted on allies, this can greatly help consistentcy, however, they are also giving up much more pottentially useful support such as Bui's much better Attack buffs and Critical Hit rate boosts, or Leo's Shields. She can still be very useful, she's just a bit more niche than Leo or Bui, who's niches are much more generally useful and applicable to most characters in a way that helps push damage or protecting benchmark, which will be seen as more important and trackable than consistency.

Good Teams to use Kotomo in are:

Kotomo - Riddle - Haru:

A very powerful Mono-Psi team. Kotomo helps Haru inflict her [Special Treatment] on foes, which sets up her gameplan to deal major enemies to foes with her Firearm. She also sets up Sleep, which will further increases Haru's damage due to the foe having a mental abnormality. Riddle's effect resistance debuffs on foe's makes Kotomo and Haru work extremely well together, with Kotomo's Attack buffs and Riddles wide variety of debuffs lets Haru shine. Probably one of her best teams.

Kotomo - Riddle - Closer:

Kotomo buffs up Closer with Attack and Effect Hit increases, while Riddle applys many debuffs on the enemy, including Effect Resistance . This allows her to get off consistently strong damage with her [Conductive] spreading to many foes. May prove frail without a dedicated tank to help them out, or a healer.

Spreadsheet rambling under the cut

So the limited is 164 pages instead of 184 which means that 3x55 really doesn't work out so great. Unfortunately I'm extremely attached to the page numbers still randoming as 55 because I want to keep the page number frequency chart going. Also ideally I would use the regulars anyway since they are larger. Enter... spreadsheet abuse.

I decided 3x55 is actually mostly fine for picking numbers so long as its distributed out amongst 4 instead of 3. Aka 3x55/4. Which is ~41. 40+ will be lyric pages but I already have that problem with TTOL so I think that's probably a fine compromise.

Soemthing very interesting I noticed about the BFDI and II fandoms is something I like to call “The Shipping Square”, and I don’t mean a love triangle, as there isn’t really any romance in either of these two shows, but more so 4 specific characters that fandoms are drawn towards when it comes to shipping. It’s something that I can only explain visually, so I will.

While not exactly the same (I’ve seen way more people make Test Tube and Paintbrush content than Leafy and Coiny content) the idea’s still there. It’s still way more prevalent in the ii fandom since those 4 are actually on a team together, it still applies to BFDI too.

Of course, many somewhat ships with these characters exist out of these shipping squares (in ii there’s Silver Spoon x Paintbrush and Cabby x Test Tube, for instance, and in BFDI there’s Flower x Leafy), the ones in these squares are most popular, not just for the character but in the fandoms themselves, which is very interesting to me.

I don’t really have a point to make with this it’s just food for thought

Have you any idea why the female shinigami, with a few notable exceptions, are so short? I have thought at times that malnutrition might be the culprit, but noblewomen seem to be equally afflicted as those who grew up in Rukongai; also, male shinigami who grew up even in high-numbered districts have no trouble growing tall. Did the previous Soul King cause this a a prank why he was stuck in his crystal-thingy? Does the sereitei simply have a glass ceiling installed at a height of roughly 155 cm?

Perhaps Anonymous needs to look a little further.

Isane Kotetsu is 187 cm tall, which is, I might add, is one centimeter taller than I stand.

Mastusmoto Rangiku is 172 cm tall, for instance, and if anyone should have suffered from malnutrition it would be her.

Ise Nanao is 164 cm, which is decently tall, though I 'm sure she looks so much smaller standing next to the Captain-Commander, who stands at 192 cm.

Yadoumauru Lisa is 162 cm, which, again, breaks no records, but neither is it definitive.

However, I do take Anonymous's point. These women are outliers. There very well be something "in the water" keeping the women of the Soul Society small, but I would also like to point out that Souls have come here from many different periods in history. Historians have approximated that the average height of a Japanese woman from the Edo Period, which the Soul Society seems to swirl around like sewage down a drain, is about 160 cm tall. It's possible that the large preponderance of smaller women simply means that we have more Souls from further back in time among us. Perhaps the men are taller because they are returned to the wheel of reincarnation more quickly and more often, having been socialized to be more foolish in battle.

I wish I had a better answer for you, Anonymous.

Perhaps height, like age, in this wretched landscape is simply random and inexplicable.

I still periodically get activity on this post. People have had opinions on it, it seems, which have been interesting to read. I've seen people say that Ilmater and Elistraee both would've helped him, and saying my take was kinda BS, to which I counter, again -- vampire. Faerun gods don't seem to be particularly fond of undead (also Astarion wasn't exactly a good person before getting turned, soooo...). (Also-also, Eli girl was dead for a chunk of Astarion's time under Cazador, so not much she could do anyway while trying to reform herself. Eli - 0 Lloth - 1)

Still, it's been fun to see people's thoughts, even if they differ from mine. Another testament to the interesting writing in BG3, that even a brief bit of banter can spin up a bit of thoughts and discussion.

I'm glad it all got worked out.

Then again, I could ramble forever about how this is probably an interesting reflection of society's views on BDSM and whatever.

Part of me wants to write that thought-exercise-analysis essay, but from the bits of Ascendstarion vs Spawnstarion discourse I've seen, I think I'd rather not even graze nor get near that hornet's nest... Oof.

It had started with Louis getting in trouble for coloring on himself when he hadn’t touched a felt tip pen the entire day. Through the years, the random drawings had evolved and changed. There was a period in sixth form when his soulmate must have gotten shy or something, because the drawings only happened after school hours and in places that others wouldn’t be as likely to see. The inside of his bicep, his thigh. A couple times he even had drawings appear on his ribcage. While he didn’t mind those few years, he did seem somewhat soothed when they began to appear on his left arm again. He’d missed them.

Or that completely self indulgent soulmates au that plays out in not always romantic ways.

2️⃣ I Just Wanna Give You Love (NR, 18k)

Graham Norton appeared on the screen introducing his guests and out of nowhere, everything in Louis’ world was turned upside down.

Louis gasped as he intently took in the man on the screen, smiling and waving from his seat beside Sir Ian McKellen.

“Louis, are you telling me that the man on the screen, Harry Styles, is your soulmate?”

Add the fact that this worker whose name tag read “Harry” looked like some kind of greek god with his long curly hair and dimples as he chatted up the older woman ordering currently, and Louis was already a goner.

“It’s my suit for the show,” Harry said firmly. This guy was obviously an assistant if the badge and plate of fruit he was holding were anything to go by, but as he began walking to where the table was in the room, Harry noticed he was walking with a slight limp. Oh shit.

Or the one where Harry's on the Late Late Show for a week and several misunderstandings with a certain mouthy assistant James recently hired make things that much more interesting.
