Deep within the farthest depths of the Warp where even the mightiest of daemons dared to tread, there was an odd domain that had formed ever since the Emperor had cast his humanity aside to properly defeat Horus-- while the Emperor himself did indeed still sit upon the Golden Throne, a part of his mind sat, lingering within the Immaterium and Warpspace, battling Chaos every second he could.
He sat in the darkness, in the ever-changing Chaos that threatened to rip everything apart. Except, where he sat, there was a small area around him that represented just what he was-- nothing changed, nothing crumbled or rose again or morphed, but instead stayed still, orderly.
Tumblr media
His soul still had the deep wound within its torso from the battle with Horus, and far more wounds that only mirrored the continued decay of his Imperium, which was only further mirrored in this one small pocket of respite... and he could sense a presence, which made him hold his breath to focus his mind just the smallest bit.
Who went so far as to search for the Golden God's humanity, in the deepest depths?

I Am So Glad You Asked!!!
So basically... Tokitoswap! a swap au in which the tokis and the kamados swap roles-- yui swapping w/ tan, and mui swapping with nezzy.
aka: Two Twins Have A Bit Of A Worse Time Than Usual And Suddenly Find Themselves In The Middle Of A Thousand Year Struggle Between Humans And Demons (Which Are Real By The Way)!
. it also happens to be an exercize in having a concept, going “hey, wouldnt it be funny if--?” and then it sticks and you have to commit. i keep trying to explain in a way that Makes Sense, but im gonna be honest. theres just So Fucking Much going on and ive been trying to write this for hours and i dont even know where to start summarizing WAHAHAH. i dont know if its very Canon Aligned but it sure is very Me Aligned and i sure am gonna commit to the bit! anyway.
its heavily in-progress and was supposed to be a clean one-role swap but! Well!!!! It Sure Isn’t Anymore!!!
under the cut since im Incapable of keeping things short:
Tumblr media
funy lil swap au! ft:  Yui: “Older” Brother who Thinks he’s in charge. a beleaguered 14-year-old who stumbled into being a slayer and super isn’t prepared for this. Unfortunately, having your sole remaining family turn into a demon is kind of antithetical to “go home and pretend nothing happened.” he is handling this very well. (lie) a user of wind-breathing, his main priority is keeping him and mui safe, and is a bit overprotective. which is a problem, since mui will charge headfirst into the first sign of danger to protect him. their relationship is a bit messy, but they’re pretty much the only thing holding each other together. a kid trying so hard to act bigger than he is-- and inevitably, routinely failing.
Mui: Odd Little Creacher secretly hiding Rage More Powerful Than A Thousand Suns. just barely surviving the attack of their family one fateful night by That Man, he manages to completely break the curse and hunger or being a demon through his own sheer will. unfortunately, he also completely loses control of himself and, in order to make sure that energy doesnt completely tear him apart, his consciousness completely mists over-- leaving him rather airheaded and distant in an attempt to hold back the roaring of a new power he cannot control. . but hes so silly!! ^w^ couldn’t hurt a fly!!
Murata: Some Fucking Guy who just so happened to get roped into all this. is just absolutely baffled this kid is out here slaying demons like this, and is honestly doing his best to make sure he doesn’t stupidly get himself killed. despite being at a higher rank than them, though, he’s kind of... well, he hasn’t gotten the hang of water-breathing techniques. try as he might, he just cant quite reach the same skill level as some of his peers. even still though, he has to keep trying. he has a job to do, and promises to keep.
Susamaru: Professionally identifies as a Problem. a user of beast-breathing, she just kind of... shows up one day and starts antagonizing. originally started fighting the twins for the honestly-kind-of-reasonable reason of “That Kid Is A Demon And Thats A Fucking Problem” but got distracted messing with yui enough to get. kinda curious about the other one. she’s loud and brash and fucking annoying, but at some point she just... asserted herself. and never left.  she’s an odd case. ridiculously skilled at the whole slaying-demons thing, she just... doesnt seem to take things seriously. has a penchant for irritating people on purpose-- but its purely for the extent of understanding how they work. what makes them tick. she’s here for a good time, not a long time. most of her peers don’t like her much, but once she’s decided that she likes someone, theres very little she wont do for them. and these nerds just so happen to be next on the list.
. all in all, its just these dorks against the world. there’s just. a ridiculous amount of mess ive written about how they function and how their arcs shape up, and while there Are some other roles and etc written up, my brain has been completely laser focused on These Four In Particular, so . \o/ ! anyway, heres a bunch of ambient sketches from all over the place of Them(tm)

Im so not a writer but i will do my very damndest to make at all coherent. The general premise is Doc, a human-made android on-board the Hermitcraft Space Ship™, is assigned by Xisuma to write the “yearly” (loosely, because time in space gets tricky to say the least) personal report that is kept in the ship’s digital archive as proof of purpose which forces him to confront his feelings about his own purpose and what it means to be sentient (and to be loved). Quick warning that below is A LOT of rambling from me.
Some silly little worldbuilding notes:
Hermitcraft Space Ship™ (HCSS) is a voyager-class starship especially designed as a Seed-Ship (better name pending) which works with various civilizations to make barren planets habitable for trade, outpost, and port use. This work varies from simply making the atmosphere breathable to actually terraforming and creating new life from scratch. Needless to say this job is VERY important that requires a highly skilled set of crew and also a shit ton of permits reviewed by most collaborative space society which is where the reports come in to make sure the Hermits aren’t like being grossly unethical or something.
Humans in this au are EXTREMELY rare due to a large-scale extinction event right when they went interplanetary (which was their own damn fault let’s be really honest). At this point in time, there are more human-made machines like Doc than there are living, breathing humans in space as humanity sent their AI out to interact with the new-found aliens in order to prevent “human losses”. This results in Doc basically being made in the image of beings he has never really met or interacted with but is programmed to intrinsically understand better than his Hermitcraft companions. (Note: I do know about Doc creacher lore btw, but subverting it and making him the only human connection is so much fun ngl)
Universal translators DO exist in this au and are neurologically based. They are pre-programmed to translate both spoken word and body language (as body language and cultural queues are not something that is universal) directly into the host’s equivalent of a brain. However, the translators don’t do well with contradiction and plenty of more complicated emotions and gestures (especially culture-specific ones) get lost or confused as it’s like blasting heavy metal into someone’s ear while talking to them and expecting them to understand what’s being said. Most aliens do overcome this using the finer skills of social species interaction but Doc has some difficulty as a machine-based intelligence makes what are essentially guesses at what the fuck the point is of some of his crew’s behaviors.
At the moment, the au is missing a lot of the middle and bridging scenes but it opens up with Xisuma (captain) first assigning Doc (head of R&D, both life-science and engineering sub departments) to create the annual report for the archives as responsibility for this is traded around the various Head of Departments on a semi-regular basis.
At first Doc just keeps well-organized reports of the ship’s daily going and his coworkers' various little shenanigans but HCSS gets raided by bandits as they are on their way to their newest project (season 10). It’s kind of a regular thing being this far out in distant space but the chaos, Doc gets beaten pretty badly and it forces/disrupts a circuit in his electronics which enables him to actually FEEL emotions as inaccuracies in his operation beyond just passively understanding that this is a thing biological creatures do.
Prior to this, Doc understood and reacted to emotions from his crew and is rather protective of the hermits to begin with but this error is actually generating sensation and illogical responses from him which is a novel (and a little frightening) experience. From there his report becomes less of a data report and more of a personal journal (something Xisuma seems more amused about than anything else).
Again, LOTS of middle scenes are not finished but here is an outline for a few that stick out as done enough to be shared
Doc, who is non-biological, has the longest awake shifts of anyone and frequently pulls long hours to work on his project (a planet cracker blue-print he is calling World Eater to mine barren worlds of their resources for the hermit’s various projects). Doc finishes his World Eater and presents it to the Hermits and gets his first strong taste of feeling which is god-like hubris that messes with his plan so much that he bursts into villainous laughter instead of moving to point C much to his crew’s amusement.
Ren is a frequent of Doc’s creative sessions as Ren took some shifts in management and has some time to kill in the hours where less of the crew is active. They hang out a lot talking about who knows what and Ren really seems to spend a lot of it leaning on Doc or laying belly-up around on the ground which Doc’s translator tells him is Ren’s form of affection and trust. Doc has feelings about this. Doc does not know what to do with these feelings.
The buttercups are a frequent pest in his workshop as Grian and Scar are both tropical species with ingrained cultural and biological drives to be curious (and Mumbo is just dragged along). This leads to frustration and amusement in equal parts for Doc and in leaning on the god-like hubris Doc from earlier realizes that chasing out the pests is actually kind of fun which creates a feedback loop to where Doc is actually distracted from focusing leading to more space for shenanigans (an also extremely irritating when his carefully planned cell cultures get contaminated making him start them all over again)
Mumbo, who is under Doc’s department and is a cuckoo-bird like arthropod alien race is undergoing a molt from his protective mimic form into his true form in preparation to take on another species in appearance. This would be easy but Mumbo’s old form was that of a human and the loss of that familiar appearance makes Doc a little mournful for things that never were and it disrupts his progress back a whole day.
Doc is a shepherd to much of the R&D department who hold plenty of irregular habits even in respect to their races. He spends a lot of time really awkwardly setting reminders for the department to assume “normal biological activities for efficiency’s sake” but recently has found out that the task is actively unpleasant to him but it's one he's just gotta do. In one notable moment, the R&D department bands together to help him fix three of his four arms when they malfunction simultaneously as a side effect of the damaged electronics as human technology at this point is not widely understood and Doc's complexity means he was the best person around to fix himself but obviously can't now. During the process there is some kind of warmth building under Doc’s chest plate. Maybe his coolant isn’t working, who really knows right?
A larger scene where everyone gets ready to make it to season 10, complete with the hustle and bustle to get everything ready for terraforming and the sheer joy every Hermit takes in making something new. This takes lots of careful management from the Heads of Department and plenty of synchronization of circadian cycles, projects and so much more. It ends up being a moment for Doc where he “stands in the sun” and takes in just what a wonder he and the rest of the Hermits really are for it all. It completes with some sort of flashback to season 9 where the Hermits leave their marks as “signatures” of their work which is a set of hand-prints from them all in a cave that will stand the tests of time.
I am not getting into ALL of the lore because it is literally just me going on and on about cohabitation in space but essentially the crew all have different atmosphere, nutrition, and circadian rhythm requirements which leads to everyone taking shifts to keep the ship running and A LOT of ecosystem-specific services to meet everyone’s needs. In addition, there is competition between departments and some listed are ship maintenance headed by Pearl, architecture headed by a rotating cast of hermits, terraforming headed by Bdubs, R&D headed by Doc and co-headed by Cleo and Zedaph, and management which is headed by Xisuma. Departments are not set in stone and frequently Hermits will “cross into” other departments for a project or two (for example Mumbo is R&D who is now taking some extra jobs in architecture for the hell of it). Also Doc observes a lot of varying Hermit season 9 shenanigans in the background like Tango’s creation of his new Decked Out game in the simulation room, Ren’s rise (and fall) to managerial power, and finally Joel and Skizz’s introductions and inclusion into the crew among other things.
Honestly, I love this au but I don't have Doc's character voice down enough to ever write this out fic style without some major rubber ducking and bouncing back from a doc-main so this is the closest I will get I think.
ive got such a mighty spacehermits au boiling in the background rn but 90% of it is speculative biology and the other 10% is doc's god complex i'll be real

Agent Carolina...... im love you
Hers has definitely been the hardest one of these for me to work on though. I spent so long trying to get her face right and I only barely managed it in the end I think.
Anyways here’s some facts about this disaster woman:
- Carolina is one of only six human characters in this AU (Grif, Kai, Tucker, Temple, Biff) but I think that fits her best! I’ve always nursed a secret grudge against some Trek series for making so many characters human when they have a ton of cool aliens to use instead. I want more creachers PLEASE!!
- A lot of this Carolina’s personality is inspired by the Quantity over Quality Carolina, because I just love how intense and messy she is. I mean to be completely honest, a good deal of the characterization in that AU is inspired by that fic because I’m predictable and I love it.
- Two bits of this design are inspired by @donutssafeword, that being Carolina’s hair post-Season 10 and also the claws on her hand from their Simmons design a bit ago. The main Borg parts are inspired by Seven of Nine’s hand thing, but I also wanted to give Carolina claws because she deserves it. Frankly, Seven deserved it too.
- It’s a little thing but using Borg technology for the Project in this AU makes me even more upset at how the Director let people experiment on his own daughter. GOD that man is rancid, I don’t care how many sad faces he makes.
That’s it for Carolina; next up is York!

Okay. So this is like, the funniest prompt that I found, wrote a bit for, and forgot about. I wrote it for a different fandom, and then thought "Organization XIII would be funny for this..." Org. XIII is turned into children and now the Reader has to (make sure they don't die) take care of them. Ages like... 4-9 because that's when children are the funniest. Do what you will with it
ngl im a sucker for old cliche prompts like these, every fandom has at least an au for this specific setting or some kindergarden au lolol
anyway here’s some HCs as to how they’d act and stuff !
Xemnas :
One of the oldest kids, but you don’t really know what to make of him. You were expecting Xemnas to still lead the rest, scare them into submission with a simple glare or something - turns out he’s rather timid. Barely speaks, you get the feeling he’s ignoring you on purpose, just makes a lot of faces and noises to indicate what he’s feeling.
Somewhat clingy too, but unlike Demyx and Xigbar who want to get your attention through any means possible, Xemnas just grabs onto the hem of your shirt and follows you everywhere in silence. Doesn’t cause much trouble, but he doesn’t help you keep the others in check either, a true neutral I guess.
Sometimes, he will just disappear and show up whenever you least expect him. Loves to climb and sit on tall places. Spaces out a lot. Compared to the rest, you can probably leave him to his own devices, as long as he’s not left alone with Xigbar or Larxene.
Xigbar :
Actually the oldest, but pretty annoying and high maintenance. If he got on your nerves as his regular self, then you’re in for a fucking ride - this Xigbar is here to cause problems on purpose. He likes to talk, a lot. And it’s sucks because it’s usually endless and mindless chatter or pointing out everything that he sees.
If he starts to get bored, he’ll scurry off to bother someone else, but it usually ends with someone crying or hurt. Don’t even bother keeping him on a leash, the bastard is too smart to be contained.
Xigbar is one of those kids that can be extremely useful if you get him on your side, as he has no problem snitching and ratting out the others. The best way to keep him from losing his other eye or gouging out someone else’s is to bribe or trick him into helping you (just know that he can also be bribed by the other kids, Xigbar WILL betray you).
Xaldin :
You expected Zexion to be the loner type, but turns out it’s Xaldin - he’ll always be on his own or avoiding the others, usually around the kitchen since you’ve banned everyone from going in there until they return to normal (not that they listen to you, but oh well).
Xaldin is pretty much like those kids who hate being treated like kids and who pretend to be above the rest. While he might seem calm, it’s really easy to get him riled up, a simple “I bet you can’t do this or that” and he’s off to prove himself.
Oddly enough, he gets jealous easily - if you give Roxas a cookie or whatever for behaving, then you GOTTA give Xaldin one too or else he’ll throw a fit. The best thing you can do with him is be honest and confess that you need him to chill the fuck out and Not Die :tm: while you take care of the others, he’ll feel all grown up because you told him the truth and will calmly stay in his room.
Vexen :
One of the oldest kids, the stereotypical kid who only has ONE interest and won’t shut the fuck up about it, which is cute but not everyone has the patience to sit through a 6 hour talk about dinosaurs. You never expected this baby Vexen to be so into dinosaurs out of all things. Of course, just because he only talks about them, doesn’t mean he’s not curious about all that shiny lab equipment.
You can’t keep him distracted with dinosaur books all day, he still has the heart and mind of a scientist ! Because he’s a very obvious nerd, he’s the target for a lot of members in the organization, namely Larxene - and when Vexen gets flustered or frustrated, he freezes up. Literally. He WILL freeze the entire room too.
Your best bet is to pair him up with Zexion or Xion, since they’ll gladly sit down to listen and learn. The three will gladly stay locked up in the library learning and reading. You just gotta hope Vexen doesn’t instantly crush Zexion and Xion’s dreams by ruining their fairytales with facts and logic.
Lexaeus :
Also one of the older kids and the tallest too. This Lexaeus is just as stoic and intimidating as the original, but apparently he’s also very sensitive. Everytime he speaks to you it sounds like he might be about to cry. But he looks fine ? So you really don’t know what to do about him.
Either way, Lexaeus is also very helpful and responsible, so you can trust him to watch over the rowdy kids and keep them relatively safe, just try not to pair him with the suuuper loud ones.
Probably the type to take the blame and responsibility for any pranks gone wrong under his watch, even if you fully know there’s no way he’s responsible. Lexaeus is the epitome of “I just want everyone to get along”. Somehow, he’s very gentle with the others (as gentle as one can be when straight up dragging Xigbar out of the ventilation system) but he’ll break any toys and other items given to him.
Zexion :
Zexion is very very small, so you can probably understand the stress he’s going through, surrounded by these animals. Like Xemnas and Demyx, he’d be pretty clingy but he wouldn’t be able to follow you around or cling to you with all the others pushing and fighting around.
So you can either just carry him on your shoulders or leave him with Lexaeus or Vexen as mentioned before. If not, Zexion will wander and either fall asleep in the Grey Area or find the library on his own.
Not a problematic child, really. Zexion lacks the energy and the feralness to join any shenanigans - he's also smart enough to know that he’ll be better off listening to you and staying clear out of safety hazards. Though there’s always the chance of other members taking advantage of Zexion’s naive and curious nature.
Saix :
You were expecting him to be a tiny version of his regular self, bitter and strict. Surprisingly, he’s way more fun as a kid, glued to Axel by the hip too. They’re the duo you should look out for - Axel is the one who gets them in trouble and Saix is the one who makes sure you never notice they were behind it all.
The one with a TERRIBLE temper right after waking up. Saix won’t hesitate to bite and claw anyone who tries to wake him up, even Axel knows better than to try. If it’s nap time, let him go, don’t even try to stop him. Don’t let anyone else near him.
Other than that ? A very nice kid in general, he feels a sense of responsibility when it comes to the younger members, so he’ll be the one to keep Axel in check whenever Zexion, Roxas or Xion are around. As for the older ones ? They’re on their own.
Axel :
Axel is the first one to say “fuck” and it spreads like wildfire. So if you start hearing a bunch of kids swear at the top of their lungs, you know who caused it. You’ll also know because you’ll find him laughing and wheezing on the ground.
Somewhat naive, if you tell him he can’t say “invertebrae” because it’s a swear world, he’ll believe you. But SURPRISINGLY he’s very aware of how dangerous his fire powers are - like, Axel wants to cause trouble on purpose, but he doesn’t really want anything to escalate and get anyone actually hurt. Unless it’s Vexen. If it’s Vexen, then it’s fine by him.
You might hear “Y/N, LOOK” before seeing Axel in the kitchen casting fucking Firaga on a bag of Totinos or something. He and Demyx somehow keep getting targeted by the Dusks, who love to play pranks on them.
Demyx :
Most likely to eat food off the ground, or anything shiny and colorful, really. He has the exact same vibes as the little brother who likes to follow people he thinks are cool to try and impress them, just to be considered a cool kid too.
Demyx is very clingy but also a sneaky kid, he can easily cry his heart out so you’ll pay attention and protect him from people he’s pissed off. This is literally why most of the kids don’t like to be around him, cause he’s THAT kid who will ruin everyone’s funs by calling the responsible adult if he gets upset.
Instead of being musically inclined, Demyx just makes a lot of noise - constant loud humming, blowing raspberries, stomping his feet or tapping/hitting things, repeating funny noises or phrases he picks up. Probably has an old ass iPod or an MP3 you can distract him with.
Luxord :
DO YOU KNOW THOSE LITTLE KIDS WHO ARE SMARTASSES ? The ones who act like they know the mysteries of the world and give you a look of superiority because you clearly don’t know what tubby custard really is ? Yeah, that’s Luxord.
Full of fun facts that he LOVES to brag about, but most of them are fake and he’s none the wiser. You cannot correct him either because it’ll be like telling an 8 year old that Santa isn’t real. Thankfully, you don’t HAVE to correct him because that’s what Xaldin is for.
Most likely to steal Xigbar’s eyepatch for himself and somehow convince everyone else that it was HIS eyepatch in the first place. How ? We don’t know, we just don’t know. Also Luxord might just steal little trinkets from everyone and stash them under his bed like the little creacher he is. If you can’t find your keys, you know who’s got em.
Marluxia :
A natural big brother figure. Very understanding too, even if you’ve heard from Larxene that he’s tired of everyone pulling his hair and that he might shave it all off just so they all stop. Yeah, there’s some lingering resentment in there. He’s 50/50 on being a little bastard and an angel.
Marluxia volunteers to help you take care of the other kids, mostly because he likes bossing others around and because he also likes reading books to Zexion and Xion so they fall asleep.
LOVES to leave trails of petals and flowers wherever he goes, but REFUSES to clean up. Always seen with Larxene - Marluxia is also lowkey competitive so he sees the Axel + Saix duo as rivals. In what, exactly ? Who knows. VERY picky with food too. Actually, just very picky and petty in general.
Larxene :
The one kid who develops a personal vendetta against you from day 1. Larxene DESPISES being told what to do, so if you’re constantly telling her not to do this, to do that and whatever, she will make your life a living hell and do the opposite out of spite.
You didn’t hear this from me, but Larxene is GENUINELY upset that she keeps accidentally zapping people whenever she plays with them. It’s really hard for her to apologize too, so you’ll have to step in a lot to de-escalate the situation.
Larxene sticks forks in outlets JUST to scare others, since she cannot get hurt at all by electricity. She just seems to enjoy making others afraid.
Roxas :
One of the youngest, Roxas doesn’t KNOW what “using your indoor voice” means, he’s either DEAD quiet or SCREAMING about how he’d like to have ice cream as a treat, please and thank you. It’s really fucking funny to see honestly. Just make sure he doesn’t sneak up on you and scare you shitless.
The type who gets dragged into shenanigans rather than cause them - he’s a very neutral and calm kid otherwise. The worst thing he can do is just steal everyone’s dessert or something because of that intense sweet tooth he’s got.
A lot of the older kids LOVE trying to get him and Xion to laugh, because Roxas has this permanent poker face AND because they both have really funny snort giggle laughs.
Xion :
Also one of the youngest, very sweet, patient and polite ! Xion also tends to be very clingy, always needing to hold hands with someone whenever she walks around Castle Oblivion. No one has the heart to tell her no, either.
Can get VERY VERY irritating and angry when someone tries to make fun of her or Roxas. Like a little hurricane of puppies - Xion won’t stop pestering all the meanies until she’s received a proper apology. If she somehow ends up hurting someone, she’ll insist on making up too.
Xion also tends to copy people she likes, similar to Demyx. You might catch her imitating your movements or way of speaking, or even copying the Dusks’ movements - but just make sure she doesn’t see you, Xion will explode out of embarrassment.

I'm curious about: 7 and 18?
7- What do you think are the characteristics of your personal writing style? Would others agree?
I dont know?? Im not kidding im just not sure? I suppose that my complete hatred for making unhappy endings is one thing, along with having a love for fluff and angst. Plus a sprinkle of horniness and comedy when i can.
But those are tropes, my writing…? I'm just a little creacher trying my best, not sure if there is anything too special on it? I usually think I'm very odd at writing, it feels more like i get hit with a hammer that makes me write and next thing that I know there are words on a page.
18- Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.
Oh boy.
The thing is, I usually have an idea and I work towards it, but on the way there I change the plot to fit better so I have to drop it. So I have a lot of unused plots that could no longer fit into the story I made.
Ok i will do a rundown of the ones i can think of clearer.
Heart Machinations: Originally Elias was going to be the big bad, due to him just not interacting with anyone besides Peter. He has no caring for humans but for him. Due to the fact that if I just kept the story contained to the two of them, without any outside forces interfering it would become boring and repetitive with the murders. So I gave them friends.
It helped, but also took a little bit out of it I suppose.
Once Upon a Time: Its not finished, but i can say this, originally i was going to use Jonah, because i had an idea for the end to be used regarding him. In fact the last part of the story was going to be more… mm not fucked up, but i would say less nice. I was not going to include Pasha the way I did, but since I decided half way through the story to be as self indulgent as I wanted I chose to go for the found family trope.
It does however have two endings.
And the sea is calling back to me: Was going to end in chapter 4, i added five because of the joke of Elias getting parental vibes. I did not add it, but I fully intended for him to adopt with Peter. But due to me thinking well i already messed up their characters lets keep it ambiguous, so i did not go with it.
The world turned upside down!!! I know someone always tells me that one day i will go with the sad ending and surprise everyone and this is the closest i was to do that. Twice in fact. I almost let Jonah kill himself for once, and on the other i also almost let him stay in the lonely forever.
Originally he was going to lose his memories forever, but I changed it last minute and by now I regret it, it would have been more powerful if he did, Yet letting him keep them was in fact a way for him to slowly heal and make up for his past too. So im conflicted.
Also i was going to switch the pov, the other would hear the tapes of him reacting to their tapes. Its what makes Peter go to look for him, it would show everyones reactions to him slowly losing his memory and his denial and grief over hearing Jon, Barnabas and Jonathan’s tape. Peter was going to be gutted at him just turning off his immediately.
In the end I went with Jonah’s perspective. Which I liked a lot.
Afterlife beach party: Chapter 1 it was almost at the end that i went ambiguous cause, again i was too nervous to commit to trans Jonah. I still am!! Its why the very few ones i do use that i ask for a beta, I just don't want to sound like i'm portraying it wrong.
Chapter 2 Jonah was going to start calling himself they far more. I was too nervous about it so I kept it to the very minimum.
Chapter 3 Oh yes, that one had a bad end that I decided to not use where Jonah just couldn't leave, he would rather stay in the lie then go and be alone. I also changed him seeing the cat for what it really was instead of Peter like i originally intended, so i could save it for the end.
Chapter 4…. i was going to lean into the gender thing more but i as i said feel like i'm not good at it. There was going to be more about him deciding to use the skirt because he liked it and it didn't really mean much, but I went with exploring it with his opinion of his hair, I felt it was a more natural progression.
Lesson is? I am very nervous and skittish with gender despite the fact that I have ideas on it with Peter and ELias that I like and want to explore a little bit more. Still baby steps, maybe eventually i will be able to do it.
Finally the rise of the sky!! After chapter 2? It was going to be just one more chapter and it was completely different.I It was almost done, all from Stella’s perspective. The lonely didn't take her, she left on her own to travel without anyone noticing. It was her just going on her own exploring and slowly picking up things for her siblings that she gave Salesa to deliver.
I was actually almost done to be honest. But I just scrapped the entire thing and did the siblings chapters instead. Its an entire au from the story that I wish I could end and use, but it feels sort of like a disservice. Maybe I can eventually do what's left and put it as an alternate thing, but I hardly think it matters much.

The moral of Ao no Flag chapter 44 is that Shingo is definitely the kind of person to be like ‘I vote third party because both political parties seem equally bad to me’.
Anyway, oh boy do I have some Thoughts on this chapter, which will be under the cut.
This is definitely gonna be a really polarizing chapter for a lot of people, and in a lot of ways I’m nervous about where it’ll go, and which characters Kaito is being more sympathetic toward here.
Since this whole chapter was about characters talking about homophobia from different angles, I may as well just jump straight into it as well and talk about the ideas and themes being discussed here.
To be blunt, Shingo’s attitude in this chapter pisses me off because it’s the kind of ‘neutrality’ that actively benefits oppressors and abusers. It’s the kind of attitude that just keeps victims from being able to defend themselves, and that allows abusers to keep hurting people. It’s the type of middle-of-the-road nothingness that supports the status quo, which in practice just means that people like him just end up sitting back and watching homophobes beat up gay people and all they feel like doing is going ‘hmm I dunno guys, both sides seem equally at fault here :/’. This is exactly the sort of situation where the idea of the paradox of tolerance comes into play. If you express universal tolerance toward everything, including intolerance, that just creates a situation where bigots and abusers get free reign to hurt people, which is obviously a bad thing. The only way to actually take any meaningful steps to punishing and preventing bigotry is to accept the fact that not everything deserves to be tolerated, and that punishing hatred is not morally equivalent to hating and hurting innocent people.
The situation with Touma and Kensuke pretty bluntly illustrates the imbalance of power and blame that lies at the heart of this. Literally the only thing that Touma did was being gay and having a crush on his best friend. And on the other hand, Kensuke decided to step into this situation that didn’t involve him at all and physically assault Touma over it. Acting like those two things are on any level meaningfully equivalent is cowardly and selfish. Kensuke’s own feelings and personal history are a separate topic that at this point have nothing to do with the immorality of how he treated Touma. Particularly because what Touma did has literally no direct connection to Kensuke. All Touma did was just tell Mami that he likes Taichi, and Kensuke was outside of the room eavesdropping. He wasn’t involved in the conversation at all, and he wasn’t even the subject of Touma’s feelings. He just went out of his way to force his own insecurities and baggage and bigotry onto a situation that has nothing to do with him. Maybe if it was a situation where, like, Touma had a crush on Kensuke and suddenly kissed him and Kensuke freaked out about it, then his past trauma might at least somewhat excuse it, but that’s not what happened.
Even though on paper the topic of male victims of rape is something that should be discussed and respected, I feel like it was kinda haphazardly thrown into this chapter to try and make Kensuke seem even somewhat sympathetic, even if it didn’t really work. As I said, the fact that Touma was talking about having feelings for someone other than Kensuke, and that Kensuke wasn’t part of the conversation at all, means that there’s absolutely no room to act like Kensuke’s trauma has anything to do with it. Him having past trauma because of some other gay person he knew doesn’t give him the right to randomly beat up any other gay person he knows about. Again, it’d be one thing if Kensuke was actually part of the conversation, or the subject of Touma’s feelings, or if Touma actually acted inappropriately toward him in a way that would be triggering, but, yet again, literally all Touma did was tell Mami that he likes Taichi, and Kensuke decided to go out of his way to barge in and assault him. Besides, if we’re going down the route of moral equivalency, it seems hypocritical for Kensuke to use his own past assault to completely ignore the fact that he also assaulted Touma. If they want to play the both sides card to get sympathy points, they don’t get to have it both ways and ignore Kensuke’s own assault toward Touma.
Which is it’s own thing, really. That most people who try and play the devil’s advocate centrist role aren’t actually what they seem to be. They’re usually not arguing in any sort of good faith. More often than not, they have their own biases and prejudices, and don’t in fact see everything equally. They just use the idea of politeness and tolerance to try and guilt-trip people who want to point out that it’s shitty of them to beat up a gay dude just for him being gay.
On the one hand, you can definitely say that Mami’s friends were inconsiderate and disrespectful toward Kensuke’s past assault, but honestly that whole plot point felt so transparently like ‘a plot point’, so to say, that I can’t even really suspend my disbelief over it, so I can’t exactly blame them for not caring. It’d be one thing if these were real people talking about real experiences, but since they’re just fictional characters, in this sort of situation I think what matters more is the author’s own intentions and methods in how and why they chose to bring this sort of thing up in the first place.
I was kinda hoping that there might be more layers to the whole situation with Kensuke, but nah it really was exactly what it seemed to be right from the get-go, and he really is just inexcusably bigoted and awful. But at least I expected that. I’m more disappointed with Shingo for deciding to completely throw Touma under the bus in order to try and protect Kensuke and his gross homophobic violence. He’s very rapidly losing points with me after this chapter, to be honest. Even on top of how incredibly rude he’s being to Touma by more or less accusing him of being just as bad as Kensuke, it seems really shitty of him to suddenly be defending Mr. “I have literally no choice but to treat men and women differently and to treat all women as sex objects and all gay men as rapists. I am just a smol creacher I cannut help it uwu” after the whole flashback with him sticking up for Mami and validating her desire to just be seen as a person and not as a woman. It kinda makes him seem really fake and two-faced in retrospect.
Not to mention the last minute implication that the blonde girl is apparently Shingo’s girlfriend, which makes his attitude seem even more shitty, honestly.
I honestly have to wonder if there’s some deeper reason why he seems to be pretty much abandoning his morals so he can aggressively double down on defending Kensuke’s actions at all costs. It just seems like a bit of an unnatural 180 for him.
And then there’s the whole scene with Futaba and co at the end of the chapter. Which is it’s own whole thing. I don’t really have much to say about it, but I do gotta admit that the whole way that they’re hammering in this idea of it being rude to Futaba for anyone to wish that Touma and Taichi could have gotten together is kinda feeling more and more uncomfortably meanspirited as time goes on. I dunno exactly how to put it, but especially after the whole “Touma’s apparently just as bad as Kensuke and apparently deserved to get assaulted for being gay” thing, it just seems all kinda of uncomfortable and loaded with all sorts of potential baggage that we immediately then had a whole scene of Mami basically going you shouldn’t care so much about Touma’s feelings, you should just prioritize yourself and be happy about the fact that YOU’RE the one who ended up dating Taichi instead of Touma”. It really just seems like Touma’s getting shit on from all sides of the equation here. In a lot of ways it doesn’t really help that I don’t even think Taichi and Futaba’s relationship is that interesting or deep, so it’s just kinda annoying to see it get propped up and used as ammunition for this weird guilt-trip-y ‘if you want Touma to be happy, that just means you hate Futaba and her relationship with Taichi’ attitude.
Then there’s the whole thing at the very end of the chapter with Futaba unintentionally striking a raw nerve by being all cliffhangery and suddenly bringing up the [not-so-]hypothetical situation of Masumi being in love with her. I’m curious to see how that goes, but let’s just say that I don’t really want Masumi to also get shit on in the next chapter after what happened in this one, lol.
On the note of Masumi, we also finally got confirmation that she, for one reason or another, suspected that Touma was gay before she eventually became certain of it. I’m still curious to see if there’s any specific reason why she suspected it that early on, but I guess we’ll see.
Most of all I really wanna see more of Taichi’s thoughts on everything, since he’s been kinda non-existent for the last few chapters. Though I’m a bit nervous about whether or not I’ll even like what happens when we get a deeper look into his head.
At least for the time being I’m not going to personally judge Kaito for what happened in this chapter, since at the very least everything the characters said is more or less realistic for how teenagers talk about these things, but the big question is just which side of the argument Kaito wants us to sympathize with more in the long run. It’s one thing to just present different sides of an argument in a piece of fiction, but when it becomes clear that you as the author personally advocate for one over another, then it’s something worth talking about, one way or another.
This was really negative and ranty, but it’s not like I hate the series or anything, lol. I mean, my opinion on it might take a sharp downward turn if it becomes clear that Kaito just wants to throw Touma [and Masumi] under as many buses as possible while cozying up to violent homophobes, but we’ll see if it gets to that sorta point.
I’m just particularly sensitive about these sorts of centrist, willfully ignorant attitudes because they’re so directly at fault for so many of the world’s current political problems.

Lup, Raven Queen, Barry, Ango and totally Ren. ;) maybe sloane also! For the HC meme❤️
(for this meme)
Kat this is……SO many oh my lord. I’m gonna put most of theseunder a cut!!!  You’re a doll tho thanksfor all the asks.
Lup:
A) What I think realistically: I love the idea that, contrary to popular belief, she’s the younger twin! When they were kids, Taakowould always be the one who had to get her out of the trouble she got herselfinto. Taako’s always been a bit more pragmatic, but Lup just couldn’t standdisrespect towards her or her brother and would always address it. She stood upto people and probably bit off more than she could chew a number of times, meaning Taako had to help her out of a tight spot.
B) What is fucking hilarious to me: Lup at one point had apretty major crisis in her life because she loves to cook for people anddesperately wanted to show her affection for Barry by cooking for him, but. This man has lived off late-night hot pockets out of his laboratory microwavefor years. He doesn’t have a palette. One time she overheard him call ketchupspicy and she just kind of stared at the wall for five minutes. She spent manyan evening slaving over recipe books to try to find SOMETHING decent that thisuncultured man would actually enjoy.
C) What is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict onfriends: She’s got…a number of lingering issues after her release from theumbrella. There’s a lot of talk about how she develops claustrophobia, andwhile I think that’s certainly true, I think another thing that leaves hershaken is the utter darkness inside the staff. Before she was able to get herpowers back to create fire, the darkness in there must have been absolute andchilling. Imagine how long she lay there entirely blind and unable to make outanything. I don’t think she can sleep with the lights off anymore. She alwaysat least leaves the hall light on outside the bedroom, but even that’s notenough much of the time, and she often plays with a little fireball in herhands until she can’t keep her eyes open anymore, so that she knows there’sstill light where she is.
D) What would never work with canon but the canon is shit soI believe it anyway: Griffin says that the Legato performance was the firsttime the rest of the IPRE crew realized that Barry and Lup were in love butcome the fuck on. These guys??? They’re so incredibly obvious and crazy foreach other. Even if they didn’t tell their family explicitly EVERYONE knew forYEARS.
Raven Queen
A) Every raven in Faerun is at her beck and call. The birdshave a bit of magic to them inherently and find it easy to slip from plane toplane. She’ll dispatch them to carry messages or keep an eye on things for herand report back. She VERY rarely comes to the mortal planes, but you can alwaystell when she’s on her way. Thousands of ravens circle together tightly in thesky, their iridescent wings shining, and from the almost blinding andotherworldly shimmer a portal forms through which she comes.
B) Has motherly instincts towards Kravitz but no concept ofwhat being a parent to a former mortal actually entails. At what age does onestop picking up mortal children? 35? Her idea of mother-son bonding is enactinga blood oath. She’s trying her best.
C) Kravitz became her “ward” of sorts when he begged andprayed to her for months on end to spare his sick mother and take his lifeinstead—he made a brave trade and she respected him for it, hence his positionas a reaper.
D) She grants Magnus a “limited” amount of extra time livinghappily with Julia in the afterlife but honestly do you think she’ll ever makethem stop living in that little cabin? Heck, do you really think she’s going tokeep their friends from leaving the sea of souls to visit them whenever???She’s willing to turn a blind eye to their little party for the rest ofeternity.
Barry
A) He is just……so visibly huggable tbh. You look at him andyou’re like, “That’s a man who’d be good to just hug for a little while. Chubbysoft belly. Just a teddy bear of a man.
B) The boy is a classic academic research scientist, whichis to say a damn mess. He’ll periodically crop his hair short but then won’tbother to get it cut again for months on end because he’s too busy, so it growsout all wild and looks a mess. He has one (1) mug he keeps on his desk and likenever washes because it’s always filled with coffee anyway. Shows up to work ina stained T-shirt because it’s not like anyone’s paying attention to him whenhe’s locked up in his lab all day anyway. Grody science man.
C) Next to Taako, he’s the one who takes the longest toforgive Lucretia, and I sort of think he never completely gets over what shedid. Unlike everyone else in the IPRE crew, he was deliberately isolated fromthe rest of his family AND HE WAS AWARE OF IT. That’s fucked up, and he learnedto hate Lucretia for awhile, and that’s not the kind of thing that can beerased as soon as Story & Song is over. He can barely look her in the eyefor awhile.
D) He does NOT have a mullet do not to my boy dirty likethis.
Angus
A) All this debate over Magnus or Taako or Lucretia orwhoever the fuck adopts Angus post-S&S? Screw that noise. It’s not like anyof the adult figures in his life AREN’T walking disasters as individuals—it’sonly together that they’re sort of capable of functioning. That’s why he haslike twenty parents and splits his time between like five different houses, inside each of which he has his own room and where he is welcome at all hoursof the day and night. That kid is living the dream.
B) Absolutely drops f-bombs on purpose knowing that it willscandalize the adults he talks to. This boy is a delight and has never doneanything wrong but he is NOT the innocent little one everyone thinks! Sneakyboy!
C) Gotta be honest, I don’t have the heart to actuallyimagine Angus having any suffering inflicted upon him, BUT I do like the ideaof Taako being lowkey terrified every time he goes off on his own/tries toconduct an investigation that has a chance of being dangerous. He tries not toshow it and definitely plays it cool when Angus comes back safe every time, buthe’s got so very few people he feels really connected to and he doesn’t want tolose one of them (again).
D) Controversial, but he remains a shrimpy nerdboy foreverand does not get to be buffer than Magnus sorry.
Ren
A) Hot take: she’s a soft butch. My evidence? I know a bunchof butches named Ren and also she just gives off those Lesbian Vibes. Butch Ren2k19.
B) She is…small. Just so short, even by the standards ofelves, which are on average smaller than humans. It might be partly because she’sa Drow, since I personally headcanon that they don’t grow quite as big, buteven then she’s just. A little creacher. She has to use a spoon to knock downthings from shelves that everyone else in the tavern can easily reach. Cassidyjokingly uses her head as an armrest.
C) Her family is definitely still around and definitely wereoutside of Refuge when the barrier was created around the town and they justhad no way whatsoever of contacting her. They aged while time didn’t touch her.
D) This is more in opposition to D&D lore than to theTAZ canon, but I personally don’t like to think that Ren ever faced anyprejudice for being a dark elf. The whole idea of the Drow being cursed and 99%of them being evil is, imo, very tired (not to mention racist), so I just don’twant that being a part of her story. I think maybe Underdark elves have a bitof a reputation in the surface realms for being kind of staid and dour, so inthat way Ren defies some conventions by being her bubbly self. But aside fromthat, she never had an issue with anyone thinking less of her or hating her forbeing a Drow.
And fuck it, I know I did Sloane already but I have gothbirb headcanons coming out of my ass so I’ll do her again.
A) Tbh I like to think that her alias is something she put alot of thought into and something she identifies really strongly with. Like, ravens are obviously just objectively cool and fit the goth aesthetic she’sgoing for, but also I think growing up in Goldcliff (which I picture as beingjust like the American Southwest) she had a lot of experience observing themand felt kind of a kinship with them (and probably fed them to get them tofollow her around tbh). In some folklore, ravens are considered shapeshifterson account of how the sun reflects off their wings and makes them look likethey’re changing shape. I think that by assuming the persona of the Raven, shebecomes something more than what she appears to be, and it’s a bit of escapismfor her. (Also, ravens are known to be family-oriented and mate for life sothat proves fitting later on…)
B) It kinda breaks my heart whenever people draw her (orhalf-elves in general) with shorter/smaller ears than full-blooded elves, because in my head hers are long and twitchy! She’s pretty good at hiding howshe feels and not giving away too much with her body language, so her ears don’tnecessarily move around a ton to express how she’s feeling, but they doinvoluntarily react to sound, e.g. perking up when she hears a sudden noise.Hurley finds this adorable and exploits it to no end—like snapping her fingersnext to one of Sloane’s ears and then the other to make them pique alternatelyuntil Sloane finally gets fed up.
C) This is kind of more of a headcanon for half-elves ingeneral, but I remember seeing a post awhile back that said something along thelines of “D&D cryptid: a half-elf with a good relationship with theirfamily.” It was funny, but it did get me thinking: what’s a good narrativejustification for this? One of the answers, I think, is that half-elves grow ata rate that must be completely bewildering for their elven parents. They reachmaturity at around 20, compared to a full-blooded elf becoming an adult ataround 100. There’s probably a lot of potential for friction there as elvenparents are unable to handle or understand their kids as they mature soquickly. Plus, most half-elves don’t outlive their elf parents, and knowing you’remore than likely going to bury your kid one day has got to be hard. I think allof this was sort of the situation for Sloane growing up, and it was the sourceof a lot of the isolation she felt as a child.
D) She has big biker energy and actually prefers motorcyclesto battlewagons and that’s the tea.
LAWD this was a lot. Hope you like them!!!
