✈ - an eye-opening memory for Sphinx!

((OOC: This one might get a bit dark. So content warning: injury, attempted murder))

"Why?"

Sphinx looks at her, his eyes wide. He grasps at his neck as crimson oozes from the wound.

She looks at him, a sickening smile plastered on her face. "For my Master," she laughs, a sickening laugh. She hoists her blade once more into the air. Sphinx summons his shield from thin air. The blade clashes harshly against it. Why? After everything. Why would she betray him? The girl who had been his friend since childhood, the one he loved... the one he mourned for so many years. They had only just been re-united. Yet here she was, attempting to murder him. Why? SHWING! The blade hits his shield again. Sphinx looks up at the cackling woman. He looks at her, desperately trying to find any sign of the one he once knew so well in there...

But all he saw reflected was the eyes of a monster. CLINKANG! The sounds of metal hitting magic rings through the air.

"You can't hide under there forever Sphinx! You're already bleeding out!"

Had they not been friends just moments ago? Adventuring together and talking about their plans together? Why?.. "Why?" he asked her shakily aloud. Her face twisted into a wicked grin. "For Set!"

It hit him all at once. He finally understood. The one he cared for, his friend now turned enemy. She was no longer the girl he once knew, she was a monster of the dark god Set. Nothing more than one of his puppets.

Everything she had told him... her survival in the dark lands of Uruk... what she had done for the nine years he had thought her dead... It was all a lie.

She was not the friend he knew. She was-- "You're the cursed shadow..." he spoke quietly. A cruel laugh filled the air. She raised her blade again. His friend, turned greatest enemy. A prophecy of shadow rings through his mind. A prophecy that was now at hand. "If the Chosen One succeeds in his endeavours, a cursed shadow will emerge from the darkness to destroy him, only death will allow either to fulfil their destiny."

Anger, betrayal, hatred... He raised his blade.

If there's one thing I've seen over and over again in the Dracula Daily + Re: Dracula fandom, it's the desire for an animated adaptation. Not of media-inspired-by, but of Dracula itself. And so, I've made:

...something that is decidedly not animated.

Yet.

I'm hoping to get Dracula Reanimated (tentative name) in exactly 1 year from now, by the end of DracDaily's 2025 run, perhaps even the beginning of it if I'm really good. But in all honesty, it could take till 2026 given the teeny complication that 1) I've no animation skills whatsoever 2) fulltime job.

So, I hope you'll stay around for the next 2 years at least to see this completed.

In the meanwhile, if you'd like to support a project by actual professionals, try @theholmwoodfoundation . It's a found footage horror fiction podcast by @georgiacooked and @fiotrethewey set in a time long after the events of Dracula, and yet the characters find themselves haunted (literally) by vestiges of the past.

Clark is taking Kon and Jon out for a classic, super-style bonding flight. Just a quick jaunt around the US and back!

They don’t get far. Somewhere in Illinois airpace, they run across another family.

The three (a hulking man, a snarky teenage boy, and a cackling youngest girl, each a grayscale blur in the blue, blue sky) throw neon-lit beams of energy at one another, quips and insults flying almost as fast as they do. It looks like training. It looks like fun!

The boy of them looks like a younger version of the man. Exactly like, even. Clark is familiar with clones.

The youngest, a girl, looks like both of them, but not quite. Perhaps she will, age sharpening her childish features, but it’s hard to say. More likely, she’s the man’s daughter.

Interested, Clark introduces himself to Dan. He seems to be a hero in his own right, even if Superman’s yet to see him in action. And it’s not often Clark sees a family so like his own!

"Kuina's death is ridiculous" yes! That's the point! You do realize that falling down the stairs is a way of showing Zoro how fragile human lives are, right? You are aware that the point of Kuina's character is the unfairness of the world towards women in comparison to the privileges men have, like living in itself and fulfilling their dreams, right? You know that Kuina's death is "ridiculous and dumb" because it's meant to show that even the strongest person Zoro knew could die from something so little, right? You understand that the value Zoro gives to life is fucking immense, right? Right?? You realize Zoro can't seek revenge because nobody took her away from him and now the only thing he can do is become the world's greatest swordsman to avenge her death, right? You get that Zoro's character is an atheist because he doesn't believe in anyone and he can only rely on himself when it comes to Kuina's sudden death, right? You are aware that sometimes people die in the simplest of ways and that doesn't make them weak because death doesn't discriminate, right? You know that all of these things are what make Zoro's character so interesting and important, right? Right??? You know, right?

Well, of course you fucking don't because if you knew you wouldn't be saying her death is ridiculous <3
