Oh yeah, my hummingbird painting. Because like, that’s here so let’s talk about that instead of your daily dose of post-pandemic rantings and landback diatribes…

Right, so, this painting that’s not finished yet. It’s a Walela (Hummingbird in Cherokee. Yes I’m Tsalagi). The flowers all have meaning I’ll speak of later, but in short my life, more or less, has been saved by birds. My body has tried to kill me so many times, but picking up the simple hobby (should be something we all do, btw) of feeding birds and nectar-feeders has honestly saved my life and refocused my depresso messo of a fucked up mind.

My ancestors reminded me that I was here to be a steward. I have gifts. Feeding the birds and punishing the squirrels with spicy bird feed when they knock my cardinals off the feeder was my path in life (fr can we talk about what antagonistic little bitches squirrels can be?) Just joking… I’m indigenous, I love all animals and those lil fuckers do make me chuckle from time to time…

And to be real, we waste so much of our own air chasing ideas of ourselves that’s based off others. We spoil so much of our own magic when we don’t love ourselves enough to foster the gifts we were given, that is MEANT to be shared

i am having prsk bird brainrot so here r some silly lil things of what bird i think each char would be

ichika is def a raven. it feels right, not sure why, maybe because of her dark hair and her blue theme? when sunlight hits a raven's feathers it has a blueish iridescent sheen, so it fits her imo. ravens are also incredibly intelligent and learn by experience and watching, which fits her growth - she learns from experience and watching those around her (namely shiho)

saki is a warbler of some sort, maybe a wren or a willow warbler. they have such sweet songs and are stubborn little dudes. they're also trusting and remember places, fitting her ability to recall her time with leoni even after her years spent in hospital.

shiho is a corvid, or some other type of bully bird, very much NOT because she's a bully or anything her imposing presence and musical rizz just reminds me of a bluejay. if i had to choose, i'd pick a magpie. shiho-greenish tail!

and finally, honami is a cardinal, red. trans hnm truther. she absolutely reminds me of a cardinal in the snow with her cardigan, just shrinking into herself.

She needs dirt on YN’s dad to make a clean exit or a power move of some sort. She is able to blackmail Jay because maybe whatever she had on him involved someone going to the hospital…a hospital owned by Mercy Health perhaps…
