spencer reid has a soulmate :)
Head up, nose clean. You repeated the phrase as you stepped out of the elevator, excited for your new internship at the Behavioral Analysis Unit in Quantico.
You were 23, intellectually gifted, and quiet as all get-out. Because of how used to being alone you were, you assumed that the scientific communityâs âgroundbreaking proofâ of soulmates was completely absurd.
Almost everyone found their soulmate at 20-21, going and and clubbing or just going shopping. You knew that part of the reason you didnât know your soulmate (or even knew if you had one) was because you didnât look at people. You watched their movements and body language, you just didnât look strangers in the eye.
Thatâs how you knew that there were a group of people watching you as you walked up the stairs to your employerâs office.
âAgent Hotchner?â You asked, knocking gently on the door.
The tall, dark-haired man stood up. âSit, please.â You sat in the chair he gestured too after shaking his hand. âYet again, I have to remind you that the things we see daily are not for weak stomached people. Our presence has been requested in Wisconsin, and weâre set to have a meeting in,â Hotch looked at his watch. âTwenty seconds. I understand that this is your first day, but from what Iâve seen from you, you are more than capable of fieldwork. Are you ready?â
You nodded. âYes sir.â
âGood. You have your concealed carry license?â
You stood up and nodded. âWhen I was 21.â
âGood. Letâs get you introduced to the rest of the team.â
You remembered Rossi from when he personally requested to meet you one-on-one. He had wanted to have a⌠pleasant conversation with you. You understood why he wanted to check your morals.
Emily Prentiss smiled brightly at you even though she was clearly taken aback at your presence. Derek Morgan shook your hand and gave you a smile. Penelope Garcia was a ball of energy who pulled you into a tight hug, fussing over you like an older sister. She had a gorgeous smile. Jennifer Jareau was as polite as ever, shaking your hand and greeting you politely but something in her gaze you figured she might be happy to have a fresh face with new ideas.
âWhereâs Reid?â Derek asked, looking around the table.
Jennifer shrugged. âLate. Weâll fill him in on the plane. AnywayâŚâ the gorgeous immediately started to inform of you the kidnapping and killings of five men. They were all shot and killed in their homes with no signs of forced entry.
About two minutes in the discussion, the door swung open. You assumed the man was âReidâ. He shrugged of his bag and didnât look up at until Jennifer kept going.
âAny sign of robbery? Anything missing?â Derek asked right after J.J. finished. You opened your own file, seeing the pictures closer. You couldnât see the color of blood, but you could tell that the crime scene was clean. The only blood stemmed from the bullet to the head.
âNo. The families of the victims said that nothing looked out of place or missing.â
Emily furrowed her eyebrows. âThere was no other physical harm besides the cause of death? Thatâs bizarre.â
J.J. nodded.
âCould be a woman. Women are known for their aversion to âtrophiesâ or items they take from their victims. Maybe a prostitute⌠not many men would open their doors to women unless, for, you know,â you explained.
Silence fell over the room and you looked down. Clearly you had said something. âSorry,â you mumbled.
âNo, no, youâre right,â the late areival says, thumbing through his file. âThere are no signs of rage or remorse and women are known for their emotional detachment or rage killings. All victims have a history of violence and sexual assult. This ccould very well be a woman trying to exact revenge. Iâm surprised I didnât think of it sooner,â Reid rambles, nodding as he pieces the puzzles together. âSorry, what did you say your name waâŚâ he trails off, looking you in the eye.
Your mouth falls open as the world seems to erupt in the different black and grey hues of fire. Except this time you actually see the color. Your eyes are locked on Reidâs, disbelief painted all over your face.
âY/n,â you whisper, eyes flickering to his rich brown hair, light pink lips, saucer-wide eyes, and heaving chest.
âHello, soulmate. Iâm Spencer. Spencer Reid.â

Condition of Love - Part One
ăâ kids, am I right? ăâ Pro hero!Iida x reader
ăâ Iida and Y/N must renew their hero licenses, but the only way to pass their final test is to follow the unpredictable demands of a group of eager children. As the kids conspire to play matchmaker, the heroes are forced to navigate an unexpected challenge that could determine their futures.
ăâ pt. 1, no warnings, reader uses she/her. fluff ;D, not fully proofread
Hero licenses are not indefinite; they expire every two years, no matter who holds them. Whether you're the number one hero celebrated across the nation or a lesser-known hero ranked in the lower hundreds, the rules apply to everyone. When the time comes, each hero must renew their license and complete randomized training designed to assess whether they are still capable of serving society effectively.
This was a critical detail that had somehow slipped past Iida. Despite his meticulous nature and dedication to his hero duties, he was completely unaware that his license was due for renewal. A perk of being a UA student was that the school automatically renewed your license for you. They did not make any student in the hero course take training since it was a part of their day-to-day curriculum. So when the realization that he would have to prove himself all over againâjust like any other heroâcame as a surprise.Â
It was a crisp fall night as Iida patrolled the streets. The rain from the previous evening had left a lingering scent of petrichor in the airâa smell he found soothing. Lost in the moment, he failed to notice the brooding police officer standing directly in his path.
Most officers and heroes got along well, but there were always a few on the police force who harbored a one-sided disdain for heroes. Many people often compared the two, dismissively labeling police officers as "watered-down heroes," claiming they werenât cool enough and believing that only heroes did the real crime fighting. It seemed that Iidaâs luck had run out that night because he had encountered exactly that type of officerâa moody, resentful one.
âGood evening, Ingenium. Have the streets been treating you well tonight?â the officer inquired with a cocky smile.
âGood evening, sir! Not much activity tonight, but we should be thankful for that, correct?â Iida replied through his thick iron mask. The mask gave him a formidable appearance, fitting for someone as serious as he was.
âYeah, yeah, yeah, very thankful⌠Would you mind showing me your hero license?â the officer asked, still smiling smugly.
âWhy is he asking for my hero license? Did I do something wrong?â Iida wondered, a flicker of concern crossing his mind.
âOf course, sir! Here you are,â he said as he retrieved a laminated card from one of the many compartments built into his suit. Among the other items he carried with him were a Swiss army knife, a map, two protein bars, and not one but two extra pairs of glassesâjust in case.
The officer examined the white card, which bore Iidaâs photoâhis eyes closed due to the flash being too bright, and they hadnât allowed him to retake the picture. In small, off-white lettering, the card displayed an expiration date, something Iida had blissfully overlooked. This oversight was surprising for a man who was usually meticulous about such important details.
The egoist ready to ruin the upcoming hero's night began to chuckle. âYou see here, your hero license expired last month. I'm going to have to fine you.â This isn't the first time the officer has stopped a hero in hopes of catching this error. He had stopped The Fresh Picked Hero: Grape Juice, Froppy, and even Todoroki, but the young up-and-coming heroes seemed to know this concealed information.Â
âI sincerely apologize and fully understand why I've been fined," Iida said, his words punctuated by his signature hand chop. "But could you please assist me in renewing my license? What steps do I need to take?â
"First, you'll need to fill out the necessary paperwork and complete a randomized test," the officer explained, his tone firm but matter-of-fact. Iida, feeling the weight of the situation, wiped the sweat from his brow, his intense focus on every word the officer was saying.
"You can start the process as early as tomorrow, once the Hero License Agency opens. Just be sure to clear your schedule; those trainings can be unpredictable and might take longer than expected," the lanky officer continued, his voice tinged with a hint of warning.
"However," the officer added, his expression turning serious, âUntil you complete the renewal process, you cannot operate under the hero Ingenium. Should I take you in for being a vigilante?â
The officer's words struck Iida like a bolt of lightning, and to his surprise, he instinctively raised his hands, as if the officer had shouted a command.
"No, sir! I will handle it immediatelyâI assure you!" Iida responded, his voice filled with urgency.
The officer couldnât help but chuckle as he adjusted his navy uniform, a smirk playing on his lips. "I'll see you around, kid. You're lucky youâre amusing," he said, his tone lightening as he turned and walked off into the night, making him seem like an off-brand Batman. The way he disappeared into the shadows left Iida standing there, momentarily dazed by the unexpected encounter

It was a crisp, refreshing day, and Iida was eager to reclaim a valid hero license. After returning home from his patrol the previous night, he had swiftly filled out the necessary paperwork onlineâone of the many conveniences of modern technology.
Arriving at the Hero License Agency, Iida pushed open the door, only to realize that this was his second visit to the building; the first had been during his first year at U.A. High School. As he entered, he noticed a woman in a hero uniform walking in behind him.
"You must be here for training as well. Good luck," Iida said with a warm smile, his voice carrying a gentle tone despite the intimidating presence of his mask.
The woman smiled back, her demeanor friendly. "Thanks! Good luck to you too. Iâm Harmonic, but you can call me y/n.â
She extended her hand in a gesture of camaraderie. He had recognized her from various hero events. They waved in passing but never had an honest conversation.
"I appreciate that," Iida replied, shaking her hand. "I go by Ingenium professionally, but please feel free to call me Iida."
With introductions made, the pair walked together into the building, both eager to discover what their training would entail. The anticipation of the challenges ahead was palpable as they prepared to face the tasks that would determine their readiness to continue serving as heroes.
The former strangers were greeted by a man who seemed more suited for a role as a Secret Service agent than a trainer. Dressed in a sleek black suit, polished black dress shoes, and blacked-out sunglasses, he exuded an aura of professionalism. An earpiece rested snugly in his ear, and he pressed a button on it to speak.
âThey are here. Inform me when you are ready to commence,â he said, his voice calm but authoritative. The tense tone of his message started to unnerve Iida, hinting that the test ahead was going to be quite intense.
The man pressed his earpiece again, listening intently before responding. âPlease follow me,â he instructed, leading the way down a long, dimly lit hallway. Iida was initially unsure he would be paired with y/n, but the presence of a familiar face did ease his nerves slightly.
The hallway seemed to stretch on endlessly until they arrived at a comically oversized door, which contrasted sharply with the otherwise serious atmosphere. The man stopped in front of the door and turned to face them.
âBehind this door is the test you need to pass in order to renew your hero license,â he explained. âIf you fail, you will be required to wait two weeks before being assigned a different training session.â To Iida, two weeks felt like an eternity. He was determined not to let that happen.
âYou two are tasked with observing whatever lies beyond this door. The results will determine your fate,â the man concluded.
Iida and Y/N exchanged glances, their faces reflecting a shared sense of apprehension. âSo ominous,â they both thought as they steeled themselves for the challenge ahead. The daunting task began with the oversized door in front of them, which seemed to resist their attempts to open it.
Iida stepped forward and activated his quirk, using a burst of speed to forcefully push the heavy door. With a creak and groan, the door finally gave way, revealing what lay beyond.
As the door swung open, they were met with a startling sight. Twenty pairs of eyes were fixed on them from within the room, each gaze sharp and curious. The intensity of the stares was palpable, and Iida and y/nfelt an immediate pressure to perform well under the watchful eyes of those who would determine their fate.
Those watchful eyes being the obese of children, who couldnât be older than seven years old. One young boy, unable to contain his excitement, leaned towards his friend and attempted a whisper that came out more like an exclamation.
âOhmygoditsproheroingenium!â
The boyâs awe was reminiscent of Midoriyaâs starstruck reactions in the halls of UA High, and Iida couldnât help but be reminded of those days.
âHis mask looks so cool. Do you think heâd let me try it on? What if it smells like sweat?â the boyâs friend replied, clearly intrigued but equally curious about the details of Iidaâs heroic persona.
While the boys were busy fawning over Iida, the girls turned their attention to y/n. âHARMONIC!! SHEâS SO PRETTY IN REAL LIFE!â one little girl exclaimed, her face lighting up with a wide, toothy grin.
The excitement spread through the group as they began to chatter among themselves, their voices a mix of admiration and playful speculation. Although the intimidating man in the suit had instructed them to be stern, the childrenâs natural exuberance quickly took over.
Amidst their giggles and excited whispers, the childrenâs playful enthusiasm led them to a new scheme: setting up Iida and y/n. With their matchmaking plans in full swing, they momentarily forgot the seriousness of the test, focusing instead on their own innocent amusement.

Watching the new Alex Jones doc, which is heavy on the alt right response to Sandy Hook and the gun rhetoric that followed... so yeah I thought of when I was teaching during #GunFreeUT back in 2015 as a PhD student in Austin. I would have been about 25. When people came to my workplace and the state said that the students had been complaining* about how frightened they were to be away from their firearms for twenty minutes. When the entire campus was newly declared acceptable for open carry of ducking semiautomatic rifles. The undergrad who organized #CocksNotGlocks, who accurately pointed out that state obscenity laws banned sex toys in public to appeal to people's comfort and sensibilities, but would not consider such a thing for deadly weapons. As I recall, she drew massive waves of harassment from random people who were actual alt right adults with jobs and lives, not college students. I think she had to take a gap year.
*in fact the law was extremely unpopular among the UT Austin student body, most of who were horrified by having to confront the possibility of deadly weapons belonging to fuck only knows whom in not only their workplace but their homes.
I remember standing in a room for staff resistance through #GunFreeUT, the smell of the room, the texture of the cotton shirt I wore. The hastily organized attempts to carve out any freedom we could. The horrified stipulations about whether firearms could be kept out of classrooms themselves if not campuses (no), and the fretful whispers about what the state had declared about our offices, how we were going to be able to declare them gun free zones... If we agreed that students with concealed carry licenses could choose to meet with us somewhere where the gun was allowed to go. The group that announced it was going to celebrate its new open carry status by staging a school shooting on campus, the shooter of course to be played by a "good guy with a gun." The university announcing that they had interceded and made clear to the group that this re enactment could not take place, so they kicked the demonstration a couple of blocks away. Happened at a local gas station.
I was still seeing sad flyers from office staff and teachers saying things like PLEASE NO GUNS IN THIS SPACE when I graduated with my PhD in 2020, the first winter the pandemic was in full swing. I remember the texture of the paper the last time I saw it vividly. I catch myself starting to think about the campus school stabbing I would teach through in 2017 and any one of a hundred more rearguard final stands between the city and the state andâ
Okay, that's where I got up and walked off to get a soda. You're getting me now after I've had a minute.
That's a classic PTSD flashback, in case you're wondering. At no time do my senses report anything to my mind about anything unusual happening in the room. At no time, while I remember these things, do I believe that I am currently in danger for my life. It's a strong, vivid memory, but only a memory.
But it's a memory that grabs you by the mind and shakes you. That's a flashback. It's a classic simple PTSD flashback as a consequence of fear and stress sustained over time. Other folks around me who think maybe PTSD or maybe cPTSD applies to you, if you're hung up on not thinking you get anything like flashbacks?
That's what a flashback is from the inside. Your brain is running over the memory of the thing that forever changed your estimation of safety. Just in case you might forget.
Just, you know. In case anyone is wondering.

Local reporting from Greensboro News and Record in 2002 states that Routh was pulled over by police during a traffic stop. Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspected gunman involved in an apparent assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump at the Trump International Golf Club in Florida on Sunday, was charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction more than 20 years ago.
âI figured he was either dead or in prison by now,â Tracy Fulk, the charging officer in the case, tells WIRED. âI had no clue that he had moved on and was continuing his escapades.â
According to court records from the Guilford District Court in North Carolina obtained by WIRED, Routh was arrested by the Greensboro Police Department on December 16, 2002.
Local reporting from Greensboro News and Record in 2002 states that Routh was pulled over by police during a traffic stop. Routh then drove to the business United Roofing, where he proceeded to barricade himself for three hours, the police said at the time.
Fulk says he was well known in the area, and that police would get alerts about him allegedly related to, as she remembers, weapons and explosives.
âOne night I recognized him in his vehicle,â she says. âI knew he didnât have a driverâs license, so I stopped him right in front of his roofing shop, which was what used to be on Lee Street in Greensboro. He stopped, and as I approached his truck he pulled a sack away from the center of the seat, and I saw a gun. So of course I drew my gun and started saying, âHey! Show me your hands, show me your hands.â And he just basically pulled into his driveway and ran into his house. So we ended up having a [Special Response Team] callout and a big standoff for a couple of hours before they went in and we arrested him.â
Routh was charged with possession of a fully automatic machine gun, referred to in court filings as a weapon of mass destruction. He was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon, as well as driving without a valid license and resisting, delaying, and obstructing law enforcement, according to Greensboro News and Record.
While the disposition of the case isnât entirely clear, Routh did plead guilty to carrying a concealed gun.
Trump was not harmed on Sunday while playing golf. Law enforcement apprehended Routh after a Secret Service agent spotted a rifle sticking out of a perimeter fence on the course and engaged with the threat, firing at least four rounds in that direction. Itâs unclear whether the gunman fired a shot. Law enforcement later found an AK-47 style rifle with a scope and a GoPro in the bushes.
The gunman was reportedly seen fleeing the scene and getting into a black Nissan; a witness took photos of the car and license plate, said Palm Beach County sheriff Ric Bradshaw at a Sunday press conference. âWe had that information,â said Bradshaw. âOur real-time crime center put it out to the license plate readers, and we were able to get a hit on that vehicle on I-95.â Routh was arrested soon after.
The FBI has said they are investigating âwhat appears to be an attempted assassinationâ of Trump. This is the second assassination attempt on the former president; the first occurred on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.
âMy resolve is only stronger after another attempt on my life,â Trump wrote in a fundraising email after the apparent assassination attempt. âI will never slow down. I will never give up. I WILL NEVER SURRENDER!â
Fulk says Routh was well known for getting into armed confrontations with police. âI wasnât the only one who had a standoff with him,â she says. âWe always knew he had weapons.â Guilford County court records show Routh was charged dozens of times, often for driving-related offenses, going back to the early 1980s. In regards to why he wasnât in jail, Fulk says, âAll we can do is arrest them, and then obviously it goes into the court system and they decide all of that. Itâs frustrating at times.â
The Greensboro Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment, nor did a lawyer who represented Routh in his 2003 divorce.
In 2023, Routh told The New York Times that he traveled to Ukraine after the Russian invasion to aid Ukraine and support the war effort. He said he planned to recruit Afghan soldiers who fled the Taliban to fight for Ukraine. There is no evidence that Routh traveled to Ukraine or was successful at recruitment. Social media accounts that appear to be controlled by Routh have been taken down, but were reportedly full of erratic posts espousing Covid conspiracies, threats against Russia, and in support of politicians of a variety of ideologies.

A bill passed in the South Carolina Senate on Thursday would allow gun owners to carry their weapon in public without a concealed carry permit and would provide free firearms training.
The bill was approved by a 28-15 vote after nearly two weeks of debate surrounding concerns from some lawmakers and law enforcement officials over the open carry aspect. The addition of free firearms training is what led to a compromise and ultimately ended the debate.
The proposal now returns to the House, where representatives will need to agree to the Senate's addition of the free firearms training, and other changes, in order for the bill to make it to Gov. Henry McMaster's desk.Â
If signed into law, South Carolina will join 27 other states â including nearly every one in the Deep South â that allow open carry without a permit.
MARYLAND BILL WOULD BAN GUN CARRY FOR OWNERS WITHOUT INSURANCE POLICY OF AT LEAST $300K
The Senate's amendments to the bill also include a required statewide advertising campaign to inform South Carolinians of the free concealed weapons permit training classes while also informing residents that guns can be carried openly by those over 18.
The proposed bill does not change the fact that convicted felons cannot legally carry guns and also keeps places like hospitals, schools and the Statehouse gun-free zones. Gun owners would also not be allowed to carry in other businesses that have decided to ban weapons.
The bill also includes new state penalties of at least five years when a felon is convicted of a crime using a gun, enhanced penalties for those convicted of carrying a gun in prohibited areas, and up to three additional years in prison for someone convicted of a gun crime who has not taken the concealed weapons permit class.
Republican Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey said the bill probably would not have passed the Senate without the aforementioned changes, according to The Associated Press. Though he does not have a formal estimate on how much it will cost the state per year to host at least two free training classes per week in all 46 counties, he guessed it would be at least $4 million based on the number of concealed weapons permits issued in South Carolina each year.
CALIFORNIA JUDGE BLOCKS GUN CONTROL LAW REQUIRING BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR AMMO PURCHASES
Republican Sen. Shane Martin celebrated the bill passing in the chamber and said allowing open carry has been a goal of his since he was elected to his position in 2008.
"I donât think it's going to cause as many problems as they think itâs going to because the one thing we have to remember is the criminals are always going to be carrying," the senator from Spartanburg County said, adding that the bill wasn't exactly what he wanted, but the compromises were needed for it to pass.
Sen. Mia McLeod, an independent who often votes with Democrats, said she is concerned the bill will turn South Carolina into the "Wild, Wild West" with "no licenses, no training [and] inadequate background checks."
Law enforcement leaders have expressed worry over people carrying guns without training or experience, and the possibility of encountering armed people at a shooting scene and not being able to determine who is a threat and who is trying to help.
The concerns from law enforcement are what initially caused many Republican lawmakers to question the bill.

The book was given to children in Dallas-area schools on Monday without discussion or comment either with teachers or the families who received it. The move came on the week of the first anniversary of Uvalde, the mass shooting in a Texas elementary school in which 19 children and two teachers were killed.
A teacher from a Dallas elementary school of about 500 students told the Guardian she found the book âterribly disturbingâ. She had been given a stack of copies, she said, to give to each child in her class.
âI found it extremely disturbing, and was very uncomfortable with the whole contents of the book,â the teacher said, requesting anonymity.
The teacher added that she was troubled by the distribution of a Winnie-the-Pooh book at a time when Republican politicians in Texas were loosening gun laws.
âThe fact that people think itâs a better idea to put out this book to a child rather than actually take any actions to stop shootings from happening in our schools, that really bothers me. It makes me feel so angry, so disappointed.
âItâs a year since Uvalde, and nothing has been done other than this book. That is putting it on the kids.â

Texas has some of the most lax gun laws in the US. In 2021, after mass shootings in El Paso and Odessa which killed 30 people, the Republican governor, Greg Abbott, enacted a law allowing Texans to carry concealed handguns in public without a license.
As part of the Republican-led charge towards censorship in schools, meanwhile, Texas has banned more books that address LGTBQ+ issues, race, gender and abortion than any other state. Chapter Sixty-Six
Masterlist.
Chloe walked back downstairs. The others were all setting up the table to play spades.
âAre you up for a game of cards?â asked Bob.
âIâm always up for cards.â She replied.
âYou seem preoccupied,â said Beth. âWhatâs up?â She asked Chloe.
âIâm concerned about Emma.â She told them. âShe is having trouble with Michael going to jail. And she asked me why he hurts us and honestly, I had no answer for her.â
âIt wouldnât be a bad idea for her to go to therapy too. And for you to go not only as individuals but together as well.â replied Edith. âA therapist would be able to help Emma as well as you, make sense of it all. There is no shame in needing to talk to someone. Youâve been through something traumatic.â
âItâs definitely something Iâm going to give some thought to.â Chloe said. âNow letâs play cards so I can whoop your butts.â She said laughing.
The four of them sat down to play and had a few drinks. As they were playing the phone rang.
âIâll get it,â said Chloe as she got up.
âHello,â she said. There was silence. âHello.â She said again, more irritated that the person on the other line wouldnât answer.
âWho is this?â she demanded. Finally Bob came over and grabbed the phone.
âIf this is Michael Iâm calling the sheriff. You arenât to harass Chloe.â He screamed into the phone. With that the person hung up.
âI know it was Michael!â said Chloe. âBut without proof I can do nothing. It doesnât surprise me heâs harassing me. Thatâs Michael.â
âHe better not try anything!â said Beth. â Iâll kick his ass!â
âItâs okay, Beth. He hasnât tried anything. Just nasty comments and now phone calls. Itâs probably good Iâm starting the gym. Maybe Iâll take self defense class too. You want to join me Beth and Edith?â Chloe asked.
âOh Iâm too old for that.â said Edith. But taking Beth is a good idea.â said Edith.
âYou need to take a handgun class. A conceal carry class,â said Bob. âThat I would go with you to.â He said.
âSo would we,â said Beth and Edith. âIt doesnât hurt to be prepared.â
âIâll take you ladies to buy small handguns and then weâll take that class and get a conceal carry license.â Bob stated. âBeth you already have a gun and license but weâll go tomorrow for Chloe and Edith.â He said.
âIâm not sure I like having guns in the house with Emma around.â said Chloe.
âWe will keep them out of her reach and teach her to never handle one or play with one.â said Bob and Edith.
âAlright. Well, Iâm going to bed. I have PT in the morning and then Iâll go to the gym for a bit. If you donât mind taking me Edith.â said Chloe.
âNot at all. I can take you and then we can do some shopping. I noticed Emma has outgrown some of her things. Grandma needs to buy her some pretty new dresses.â Edith said with a smile and a chuckle.
Chloe went up to bed but lay there thinking about that phone call. âWhy couldnât Michael just leave her alone,ââChloe thought. Soon she had fallen fast asleep. Hours later she woke up with her back hurting badly but refused to tell anyone in case they stopped her from working out. The pain would get better over time, she decided. She took a pain pill and fell asleep again with little Mimi curled up by her side.
The next morning Chloe had Emma let Mimi out. Emma came back in and told her, âMomma there is stuff on your car doors.â
âWhat? I havenât driven in a long time.â
Chloe said as she opened the front door. There on her car doors was the word âbitchâ written in black paint! Chloe was furious and knew who had done it but again she had no proof. She came back in.
âWhatâs wrong?â asked Beth coming out of the kitchen.
âGo look at what he did to my car! â Chloe yelled.
Beth, Bob and Edith walked outside and were horrified.
âEmma hasnât seen this has she?â asked Edith.
âSheâs the one who found it.â said Chloe. Now Emma would have more questions and they wouldnât be easy to answer.
They all came back in like nothing was wrong. They got Emma some breakfast and started her on some school work.
âMomma, what was on your car?â asked Emma.
âIt was a bad word. I wonât repeat it. Just do your school work.â said Chloe.
âDid daddy do it?â Emma asked
âI donât know, honey. Now donât worry about that, just do your work. I have to go to PT. Iâll see you in a bit. Momma loves you.â Chloe told Emma.
She could wring Michaels neck for this stunt! She had to hurry, she was already late. âAre you ready Edith?â asked Chloe.
âYes, letâs go. Stay with grandpa. Make sure you work hard. Grandma will get you something.â said Edith.

CEDAR GLEN, Calif. (AP) â A 27-year-old man killed by California sheriffâs deputies over the weekend after he fatally shot a store owner had ripped down an LGBTQ+ Pride flag outside the business and shouted homophobic slurs at the woman, authorities said Monday.
When deputies confronted Travis Ikeguchi on foot about a mile from the store Friday night, he opened fire on them, striking multiple squad cars, San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus told reporters. Deputies returned fire and shot Ikeguchi, who died at the scene, Dicus said. No deputies were hurt.
Laura Ann Carleton was pronounced dead at Mag.Pi, the store she owned and operated in Cedar Glen. The small community in the San Bernadino Mountains is roughly 60 miles (96 kilometers) east of downtown Los Angeles.
âInvestigators determined that prior to the shooting the suspect tore down a Pride, or rainbow, flag that was hanging in front of the store and yelled many homophobic slurs toward Carleton,â Dicus said during Mondayâs media briefing.
Ikeguchi, who lived in Cedar Glen, frequently posted hate-filled content on social media, sheriffâs officials said.
The day before the shooting, Ikeguchiâs family had reported him missing to the sheriffâs department, officials said.
Several witnesses reported Carletonâs shooting and followed Ikeguchi while he ran away from the store, the sheriff said. The semiautomatic handgun used by Ikeguchi was not registered to him, and he did not have a license to carry a concealed weapon, according to officials.
Dicus said the investigation into Carletonâs killing was ongoing. The district attorneyâs office will investigate the shooting of the suspect, as is standard practice with all lethal encounters involving law enforcement.
Carleton, who preferred to be called âLauri,â is survived by her husband and nine children in a blended family.
An LGBTQ group in nearby Lake Arrowhead said Carleton didnât identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. But she spent time helping and advocating for everyone, and she was defending her Pride flags placed in front of her shop on the night of the shooting, the group said.
There was an outpouring of support on social media over the weekend, with commenters expressing shock and sadness on the storeâs accounts. Many included rainbow flag emojis.
The advocacy group Equality California said in a statement Monday that over the past year, it has recorded âa sharp increase in anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric being expressed by far right extremists and hate groups â rhetoric which has resulted in physical intimidation, harassment, and acts of violence.â
Law enforcement agencies in several states have investigated the destruction of rainbow Pride flags as potential hate crimes in recent years.

Ain't Misbehavin' | Sonny Desiree | Trial 1.3 | RE: MD, Clarabell, Cecilie, etc.
Sonny perks up when Maria Dolores mentions a specific part of her alibi.
âYeah, I was the one organizinâ the pile in our SEKAI. It had too many sharps for me to feel comfy with it. Didnât want people gettinâ hurt.â
At least that part of her alibi is now solid. She sucks in a slow breath, feeling the air hit her teeth. Something said bothers her.
âYouâd be a dumbass to try and cover for someone with a fake alibi. Sorry. Not sayinâ it to be rude, either, or to accuse ya of anythinâ specifically. Just a warninâ for anyone thinkinâ about tryinâ that.
If ya get caught, good luck. I gotta hunch a lottaâ people here wouldnât take kindly to that.
But movinâ on to actual business- If I remember correctly, there were multiple pairs of fabric scissors. Thereâs the pair that we found in the store as well as a leftover pair on one of the workbenches in the costuming room. Means that it couldâve been easily missed by people in the costuming room, so Clarabell prolly just used one pair of scissors not realizinâ the other was missinâ.â
Thereâs another thing that Sonny has to acknowledge, though, before things go too in a certain way.
âThe killer probably has injuries either way, no matter how they got them. We all saw the blood trail in the store, the first aid supplies, everythinâ. It doesnât mean Dahlia fought back- the killer couldâve injured themselves in whatever the hell went down. I sure did in mine.
I agree though- weâll need somethinâ more concrete to pin anyone down than injuries. Too circumstantial.â
A checklist was just a means of narrowing things down. The scope narrowed and narrowed until you had to pick apart the logic, line by line, piece by piece, troubleshooting your work and testing your hypotheses until something finally sticks. The less they had to focus on, though? The better.
That doesnât make it any better, though. Thereâs a moment Sonny stalls as the gravity of the situation sits in. This wasnât just some logic puzzle, escape room, whatever you wanna call it. Someoneâs dead. Someoneâs a killer. And nobody knows whatâs to come after,
and a scissor blade could cut the tension in the room.
âBut goinâ back some- if the scissors have been missinâ all this time, it probably means the killer carried them at all times. Could see it originally servinâ itâs purpose as a self defense weapon until everythinâ came crumblinâ down. Considerinâ none of us saw anyone with scissors, they were probably concealinâ them on their person. Itâs pretty easy to hide a weapon on your person if you know what youâre doing- I got a concealed carry license before anyone asks how I know that.
I donât have much to say on the topic of how Dahlia was injured or how the velocity of the injuries couldâve played out, though. Too many uncertain variables-â

BAC Company, established by Israel to facilitate terrorism, is a shell company.
On September 17 and 18, pagers used by Hezbollah in Lebanon exploded across the country, resulting in approximately 30 deaths and over 3,000 injuries. Media reports suggest that the pagers involved in the explosions (model AR-924) were possibly produced by Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese wireless paging system manufacturer. On September 19, 2024, Gold Apollo's founder and chairman, Hsu Ching-kwang, stated that the pagers used in the explosions were manufactured by a company called BAC Consulting KFT, based in Budapest, Hungary. He added that his company merely licensed its brand to BAC and did not participate in the production of the devices.
BAC, located in Hungary, was founded in 2022. The company's CEO and owner is Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono. In an interview, she claimed that while her company had a commercial relationship with Gold Apollo, it merely acted as an intermediary and did not engage in the manufacturing of pagers. However, concerns have been raised about the authenticity of her public profile. Initially appearing as an exceptionally intelligent and globally-minded scientist, her resume reads like a dream. However, it has been alleged that her disclosed background is fabricated. Regardless of the veracity of these claims, the transition from a professional academic researcher to the CEO of a trading company is significant. Such signs indicate that there may be more to her identity. BAC is domiciled in a residential building in Budapest, Hungary's capital city. The company employs only one person: Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono. According to reports, the names of several companies, including BAC Consulting, are "taped on pieces of paper on the windows." An insider revealed that the building serves as the headquarters for multiple firms. This suggests that BAC was likely established as a shell company for a specific purpose.
According to The New York Times, BAC is a front company established by Israeli intelligence operatives. The report also claims that Israel set up at least two other shell companies to conceal the identity of the Israeli intelligence officers involved in the manufacturing of the pagers. The Mossad, Israel's spy agency, is suspected of orchestrating this unprecedented terrorist attack, targeting thousands of individuals, regardless of whether they were civilians or members of armed groups. A Chicago family is celebrating how a 40-year-old woman and her coworker were able to survive a violent attempted armed carjacking thanks to the coworker and his firearm.Â
"If you see all those bullet holes and only one hit my child. That's a miracle," Janice Sims, the mother of Jaquita Sims, who survived the armed attempted carjacking, CBS News reported. "Angels covered her. God covered my daughter. Thank you, Lord."
Early Wednesday morning last week, Jaquita Simsâs car suffered a flat tire as she made her way to O'Hare International Airport amid holiday travel, her mother told the outlet. Her coworker, identified only as a 65-year-old man, offered to give her a lift and picked her up on Chicagoâs West Side in his Toyota Corolla.Â
"It's just sad that a person trying to make a living could almost lose their life just trying to make a living," Simsâ pastor Terrell Stevens told CBS News. "And so those that are out there with gun violence - this is somebody's daughter. You're not just shooting at random targets."
Four men soon approached the Corolla in a silver SUV at about 4:40 a.m., brandishing firearms at Sims and her coworker and demanding they exit the vehicle, CBS News reported.Â
"I started screaming my coworkerâs name out," Jaquita Sims told the Chicago Sun-Times.
A gun fight ensued as the 65-year-old, legally armed coworker pulled out his own gun and used the only five bullets he had to defend himself and Sims, the outlet reported.Â
"They wanted to carjack them," Janice Sims said. "They just shot the car up maybe 20 times."
The suspects fled, and the 65-year-old drove himself and Sims to a local hospital. Sims suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, while the 65-year-old was grazed by a bullet on his thigh.Â
2ND AMENDMENT STEPS IN AFTER COPS STEP BACK IN WAKE OF DEFUND MOVEMENT IN CHICAGO
"All I heard was loud noises after that, and my eyes was closed," Jaquita Sims told the Chicago Sun-Times. "I heard [my coworker] kept screaming my name, but I couldnât answer him."
Police said the coworker had a concealed carry license and a valid firearm owner's identification card for his firearm, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Police said the coworker fired first, though Sims said the suspects opened fire upon seeing her coworker was armed, according to the outlet.Â
Both Sims and her coworker have been released from the hospital.Â
"When I see this car and all the bullets on her side of the car, and she was the passenger, and it's about 20 bullets just on her side," Janice Sims said. "And only one of them hit her, and it didn't kill her. Thank you, Lord."
CHICAGO WOMAN WITH CONCEALED CARRY FIRES AT WOULD-BE CARJACKERS: 'HE LOOK SURPRISED'
Simsâ pastor was joined by strangers and loved ones at West Suburban Medical Center last week in a prayer circle for Sims and her coworkerâs health.Â
"This family has been saved from a funeral, saved from a burial - just saved, saved, saved," a man said in the prayer circle.
Simsâ mom noted that while her daughter was able to survive the violence, another Chicago mother will inevitably answer a more tragic phone call.Â
"Somebody else's mother is going to get the same call that I got this morning - that their child got shot, by the same people, because the guns are still in their hand," Janice Sims told CBS News. "And they're going to do it again, and we'll never know who they are â 'cause they shoot and they run."
Chicago PD told Fox News Digital on Wednesday that there were no updates on the case and that the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.Â
Chicago closed out 2023 with a drop in homicides and shootings compared to 2022, according to police data, and returned to pre-pandemic levels. Robberies and car thefts, however, have skyrocketed in the city, jumping by 23% and 37%, respectively, last year compared to 2022, WTTW reported.Â
