hii first of all luv the username cause as a libra rising, samedt ;-; i'd like to make a request for a luke x f!reader fic pls!! um, so they're best friends, and luke decides to confess to r by giving her gifts, letters, trinkets, etc. with hints about his identity, but she doesn't know who they're from. so she asks for luke's help to find out about the identity of her secret admirer. but what if there's like a mistaken identity and she thinks it's someone from the hermes cabin (maybe chris? or one of the stoll brothers idk) and luke's just all pouty but nonchalant or something, but deep down he's like 'how do i even make her see' or something (while also second guessing that maybe he shouldn't confess it's him) like fluff with tiny angst :>
Message in a Bottle
Pairing: Luke Castellan x Reader
Summary: You got a secret admirer and recruited Luke to help you find out who they are...ignoring the most obvious option (Fluff, angst, best friends to lovers, happy ending)
Note: I'm so sorry for the six month hiatus. It wasn't by choice, I swear đ. So many bad things kept happening that prevented me from writing (is this the writers curse people kept talking about?). Also, the request wanted only a sprinkle of angst, but I kinda got out of hand with it I think đ (sorry).
Word count: 4.4k (whoops)
Youâve always thought that too much of something is bad. Yet, ever since the day your life intertwined with Luke Castellanâs, you werenât very sure about that anymore.Â
The two of you arrived at camp around the same time, entering a friendship that felt like hitting the jackpot. Your early days together were something that you both treasured dearly. Every time you thought a certain time period would someday be reminisced as the golden days of your friendships, new things would come, and top it off.Â
However, golden skies were soon evaded by clouds of pink hues. You found yourself noticing and appreciating small details you havenât noticed before about your best friend. Initially, you acknowledged the growing feeling but decided that they better remain as footnotes in chapters of your life. However, fateâs design was different to your plans, because two years later, here you were: you looked at him almost in the same way a fool would look at the world with rose-colored glasses (but then again, maybe it was because you have learned to embrace and adore his flaws).
âLuke!â
The Hermes cabin counselor snapped his head towards the sound of your voice, eyes straying from his duty of the hour. A smile began forming on his face as you came to view, almost like he has always been programmed to do so. There was a certain spring in your steps. Moments like these made Luke feel like he was a minimalist because your happiness was somehow enough to guarantee his own.Â
You situated yourself next to Luke on the ground, not minding the dirt.
âHey now, Iâm meant to be watching these kids train, donât come over and distract me,â the Hermes cabin counselor warned, though he didnât move his eyes away from you. He simply couldnât.
Everything about you served as a distraction to him. From the soft smirk gracing your lips to the innocent tilting of your head. Every little detail about you was captivating and was equally capable of drawing his attention away from wherever it was meant to be.Â
In fact, his attention issue around you was getting rather shameless because his friends have begun picking up on it and started teasing him for it. Personally, Luke doesnât think it was his fault. His eyes just happen to draw to you in every room like second nature, while his mind short-circuited every time you were near.Â
Maybe, and just maybe being rational and able to function properly has stopped being his forteâŠat least whenever you were around.
Your eyes moved to the group of kids that were only going to be at camp for the summer. From the looks of it, Luke has just assigned them to practice sword fighting in pairs. You then glanced back at your best friend, discreetly drinking in the sight of him.Â
No doubt he did his fair share of demonstration before letting these kids go off on their own, because right now, his face was slightly flushed, veins evident on his forearm while the familiar orange shirt clung onto his body with glistening sweat.
You shook away the non-platonic thoughts and teased him, âOh, come on, you wouldnât pass up on talking to me. You adore me too much.âÂ
Damn right, he does. Luke could feel his cheeks heat up again.
âFine. What are you here for, firecracker?â
âI got another gift,â you informed, presenting the bracelet in your hand.Â
For the past month, you have been receiving small letters and gifts. This time it was a handmade bracelet with beads of your favorite colors, as well as charms that represented some of your hobbies and favorite things. It was clear that your anonymous admirer had put a lot of thought into such a small item. However, as always, there were no identities attached to it, leaving you clueless about the person behind these gestures.
Luke took your hand in his, eying the accessory that perfectly fitted your wrist. He started toying with the beads around your wrist that were shining in your favorite color.
The boyâs gaze flicked from the object to you, catching your soft and warm look. Gods, if you kept looking at him like that, he might just actually stop thinking logically. He could practically feel a confession lingering behind his lips, threatening to spew the second his ropes of restraint died.
âAnyway, I came here with an idea,â you broke the silence. âWhat if I try to find out who this person is? I mean, some of these gifts are quite specific. They seem to know my favorite color, flowers, and things I like. Surely, it wouldnât be that hard to narrow it down and figure it out?â
Something shifted in your best friendâs behavior and you could feel it. There was a slight flustering look on Lukeâs face as he avoided eye contact with you. It was rather strange to see the Hermes cabin counselor so fidgety. Luke has always been confident and composed, and youâd often be the one to humble down his playful cocky remarks. Half-way through looking at his behavior, you began speaking:
âYouâŠâ
Luke could feel the blood draining from his face at your facial expression, his face paling despite how flushed he was seconds ago from demonstrating sword fighting. The boy tried to regain his composure, though his attempt at seeming nonchalant failed as you touched his arm. Did youâ
âYou can be my inside man, talk to these guys to see if theyâd slip up or something like that.âÂ
âI donât think thatâs a very good idea,â Luke hastily replied, clearing his throat.
âOh, Iâm sorry. Did that come across as a suggestion? I hate to break it to you but being best friends means you sorta have to participate in my schemes,â your lips curled as Luke grunted at your words.Â
âYeah, butââ
âLuke, pleaseâŠitâll be fun,â he almost scoffed at your words and unconvincing argument. Clearly, the two of you had different definitions of fun. Just as he opened his mouth to reject your idea again, his eyes caught yours. You were looking at him in such an eager and heart-warming gaze that it made him forget what he was intending to say.
Ah, there was no denying anymore. Being rational and able to function properly has truly stopped being his forte.
âFine,â Luke uttered, the word pricking his tongue as regret started kicking in as he accepted being your accomplice. This decision could only come back to bite him in the ass. He watched as you quickly celebrated his lack of restraint.
âAh, you gave in quite quickly,â you jabbed.
âShut up.â
Oh, you were going to be the death of him.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Two days have passed since you got Luke to agree to help you find your secret admirer. Though, the boy must say, the last forty eight hours have been slightly comedic for him, watching you trying to track down your secret admirerâŠ
While the real sender of those gifts was right beside you, nodding along to your every word.Â
Lukeâs mind trailed to the origin of this âsecret admirerâ idea. He started it as a way to abate the urge of straight-up blurting out how love-struck he was with his own best friend, while also testing out the waters before finally confessing his feelings for you.Â
Though it was slightly amusing how the idea led him to where he was right at that moment. The Hermes cabin counselor zoned out as he pretended to speak to another boy you thought was behind those sweet gifts and letters.Â
Luke used to have those feelings under rein, but self-repression only caused it to grow exponentially. Initially, the Hermes cabin counselor dismissed those beyond friendly thoughts, thinking they would eventually fizzle away. However, against his predictions, this fondness towards you became a sort of companion to him for three long years.Â
Not only that, years of excessively burying these feelings six feet underground also came back to bite him in the ass because instead of having his feelings under control, they now have the upper hand.Â
Sometimes he felt like a puppet, while his feelings plucked the strings. His facial expressions were forever cursed to be sculpted in raw yearning whenever around you, having no choice over how he reacts to everything related to you.
But it didnât matter, because he was going to finally confess soon.
Luke almost burst out laughing at the way you were standing in anticipation, waiting for his intel on the most recent candidate. It was entertaining, to say the least, pretending to engage in investigative conversation before heading back to you, shaking his head in feigned disappointment.Â
However, it didnât take long before the Hermes cabin counselor started feeling sour.
Just as he made it back to your side, he watched as you started talking again, already discussing the next guy you thought might have done these things that Luke himself came up with. He eyed your in sync footsteps with a heavy heart. Despite the matching movement, he somehow still felt eternally behind. Luke was so close, yet so far away, and never quite able to grasp onto your ever moving attention.Â
Did you not consider him as an option at all? Did you truly not see him as anything other than a good friend? It started stinging him knowing you were considering all these other guys as potential candidates â the faces that now haunt him in his sleep, poisoning his mind with an acidic jealousy that was eating away his common senses and fueling immoral thoughts.Â
Soon enough, that same jealousy seared his mind with this overwhelming self-doubt. Lukeâs foot started feeling cold at the thought of confessing. Gods, he never thought the same security behind anonymity would now make him feel desperate to be seen by you.Â
âMaybe I should give up,â you concluded, mindlessly staring ahead. Your attention elsewhere gave Clarisse and Chris an opportunity to send each other knowing looks. The two have been watching you run around in circles on a goose hunt, not knowing to look right behind at the sulking figure that was trailing after you.Â
Your distracted state also meant you didnât notice the moping human situated beside you. However, hearing your declaration of ending your chase, Luke saw a window of opportunity. Maybe now was finally the time to be truthful. After all, if he doesnât tell you, then how will you know and see him? Lukeâs momentary motivation carried him through waves of dejection.
âY/N, I need to tell you something,â Luke blurted out without much more thought or preparation, and his tone made you fully turn to him. Just as words finally formed and the boy opened his mouth to tell youâ
âHey Y/N, can I talk to you privately?â Somebody interrupted. Your eyes didnât leave Luke immediately, but when you saw your best friendâs momentum had faltered, you turned to the stranger. It was another Hermes boy, somebody who youâve seen around. You politely agreed and left with him.Â
âSo, I heard youâve been looking for the person whoâs been giving you anonymous gifts. And well, itâs your lucky day, 'causeâŠâ the boy stared you up and down while you subconsciously took a small step back when he leaned forward. â...Iâve decided to come forward and reveal myself.â
âOkayâŠwell, prove itâ you squinted. Though your skepticism didnât make the Hermes boy in front of you falter. Clearly, he expected this.
âThe first thing you were given was a note, andâŠthe two most recent gifts were a cassette tape and a bracelet â which was made from beads of your favorite color and charms likeâŠâ you zoned out as the boy started listing out some of your favorite activities that were indeed the charms on your bracelet. You fiddled with the bracelet that you had purposefully hidden out of his view right behind your back.
There was a pinch in your heart that signaled the last bit of hope dying.Â
OhâŠso Luke really wasnât your secret admirer.
You internally scoffed at yourself. You should have known right after he said yes to helping you out with finding your secret admirer â which was originally an idea used as bait to determine if Luke was the sender or not, because if it was really him then he wouldnât have agreed to help you out with this. However, not only did your best friend agree without much convincing from you, but he had seemed so nonchalant and unaffected as you named all these boys you wanted him to talk to.Â
Perhaps this secret admirer thing was something good. Somebody has shown interest and their actions have been nothing but sweet. Those letters contained words that were eternally bound to your memories, even altering the way you view yourself for the better. Maybe you could get to know this person and move on from hopelessly crushing on your best friend. Â
Halfway through, you realize you were so engulfed in your thoughts that you have zoned out to half of the things the Hermes boy was saying, and merely caught onto the last bit of his speech:
â...thinking maybe we could go on a date and get to know each other more tonight?â
Your stomach churned again, yet you nodded your head.
Move on. Move on. Move on. Move on.Â
Your friends gave you questioning looks when you got back to where they were, clearly curious about what you were pulled away for.
âSoâŠthat was my secret admirer, and Iâm going on a date with him tonight,â you hoped you sounded more enthusiastic than you were feeling. You tried convincing yourself at least it was good knowing definitely how your best friend actually felt about you. Quickly sitting down, you kept your eyes on Clarisse, knowing if you even looked over at Luke, heâd be able to tell straight away that something was wrong.
Your lack of focus also meant you didnât think much of the quiet murmur from your best friend: âSorry, I just remember I need to do something.â
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You looked at yourself in the mirror one last time. It was now the afternoon and you just finished getting ready for your date. As you were leaving, you spotted a note at the foot of your cabin. Seeing your name written on the paper, you picked it up while eying it peculiarly.
âYou could be the one that I love,Â
I could be the one that you dream of,
Message in a bottle is all I can do,Â
Standing here hoping it gets to you.â
Your gut feeling stirred, hitting you with waves of higher certainty over suspicions you have previously had and denied.
Those lyrics were directly associated with a memory from summer two years ago.Â
Luke and you were sitting by the campfire when he asked what your favorite song was. You told him the name and mentioned you hadnât listened to it in a while because using technology devices with signals were dangerous for Demigods. The conversation slipped your mind but clearly loitered in your best friendâs mind, because two months later while on your way back to camp from your quest together, he gifted you a tape player along with a cassette of said song along with others that you liked.
You blinked away the image of you leaning on Lukeâs shoulder while the two of you listened to the song together on the train back to camp.
You re-read the note again while shaking your head. Perhaps it was a coincidence. Perhaps, that Hermes boy knew the song and it was also one of his favorites. Perhapsâ
Your hand started trembling around the paper. Your eyes landed on one small detail in the note: a particular handwriting choice. The rest of it matched with previous notes, but there was one singular scribbling feature youâve never seen used before.Â
Everything came crashing down and your internal eternal cycle of excuses and denial shattered.
You ran. It didnât matter that it was raining and your attire was getting soaked. It didnât matter at all because you were frustrated and confused. In other instances, you would have been elated at the possibility of mutual affection, but in that moment, exasperation blinded you from sensibility.Â
If what you have concluded was true, then why on Earth would he allow you to go on a date with a person who stole credit for things they didnât do? This whole time, he made you feel like a fool â for waiting that long and having hope after all that time; for asking the person you were looking for to hunt them down with you; for sulking despite having what you thought was a good opportunity to come along; for borderline going on a date with an imposter; and for not seeing it all along that it was him.Â
âItâs you, isnât it?â you called out.
Despite the rain, you could see your best friendâs figure stiffened before turning around to face you. The boy stood with his hands behind his back, not yet daring to look at you.Â
âThe âthâ. You connected the cross in the âtâ directly to the âhâ,â you presented the note in your hand, pointing specifically at the slip up that Luke had made in the latest note, not caring of the raindrops that were hitting the paper. âItâs how I write it, and you started writing it the same way a year after we got to know each other because you liked the way it looked,â you pressed further.
The expression on Lukeâs face painted your theory into the truth of the situation. You felt your hand slightly shaking at the revelation.
âWhy? You left anonymous gifts and notes and watched me put on this hunt â which by the way, was for you. And didnât even say anything when a guy lied and said he was my secret admirer? Is this one big cruel prank?â
âNoââ
âOh! Well then, surely at one point in this whole thing, you felt like you should just tell me?âÂ
âI was going to.â
âThen where were you when I was just about to head out with that fraud? Maybe if you really liked me and really cared for me, like all those damn notes say, you would have fought for mââ
âI did,â Luke finally raised his voice, his face briefly hardened in an attempt to convey his desperation. His chest heaved, and the way it did almost made you think the anger radiating off every inch of his skin right then was directed towards you. But it wasnât, and he knew you knew.Â
âI confronted him right after he claimed that he was the one who gave you all those things.âÂ
Invisible ivies rooted your foot to the ground. You gulped, trying to digest the information you were given. However, it finally sunk in when Lukeâs hands appeared from behind his back. It was then that you could see the bandage wrapped around his knuckles. Your breath hiccuped in both flattery and worry at the implication of what he had done. The darkness behind those deep hazel-brown orbs reflected a certain side of your best friend that you hadnât seen before. Although, part of you felt like you wouldnât mind it.
It made Lukeâs blood boil knowing what he dedicated to you from the bottom of his heart was spoiled by ill intentions. Luke should have known better than to carelessly write all the letters and craft those gifts right on his bunk bed, rather than discreetly.Â
Once again, the Hermes cabin counselor was pulled back to memories from an hour ago. The way the other boy shot remarks at Lukeâs lack of precautions, boasting his wrong-doings like someone incapable of having a guilty conscience. Luke's jaw tightened as the image of the sly smirk on the other Hermes boy's face flashed in his mind, but a wave of satisfaction ran through him as he recalled how quickly that smirk was wiped away by his own fist.
They might be brothers by a fraction, but blood or not, that boy was dead to Luke the second he tried tricking you.
âAnd no, I wouldnât have let you go out with a fraudster. Never,â Lukeâs eyes softened. âAnd in case itâs not implied enough: I like youâŠa lot. I was going to confess but then this guy came along lying,â Luke could feel that tremor returning once more to his fist. He hated that something he built, from scratch, on the foundation of sincerity was momentarily tainted by the hands of a spineless liar. Not only that, he hated witnessing somebody so dear to him getting deceived in such a tasteless manner.
âI alsoâŠdidnât want to get hurt. It was starting to seem like you would ever consider me as more than just a friend with the way you were listing out all these other guys. So for a bit there I was considering just keeping quietâŠforeverâ he confessed, eyes now straying away from you and down to his shoes.
You observed your best friend through a new perspective. So your initial suspicions were true. You had thought it was him because all the things you have received hinted to somebody who knew you so well, and who else at camp but Luke knew this many things about you. But ultimately, another part of you â the proclaimed âlogicalâ side â has hyper-analyzed every split second you two have shared and deemed that Luke has not given any true signs of interest in you beyond as a friend. Thus, you dismissed the thought of Luke being your secret admirer.
You know now to trust your gut feelings more.
âOh, Luke Castellan, you dumb assâŠâ you spoke softly underneath your breath, but you knew he heard you perfectly clearly from the way he slightly peered up. Your heart almost shattered at the dejected look on your best friendâs face and the thought of him burying his feelings eternally. You sure as hell would not allow that to be this timeline.
âIâve liked you ever since the day you went out of your way and gave me that first cassette tape,â the marveled look on Lukeâs face over your confession made you continue, âI guess I should have known it was youâŠcause gift giving has always been your love language.â It seemed like the boy was too stunned and struck frozen. However, his shell-shock state didnât last long, because soon, your best friendâs gaze reverted back to the way he has always looked at you, only slightly more intense.
Your eyes fluttered at the sight of Luke Castellan in front of you at that moment. You were finally able to see the effect youâve always had on him. The way his lips hung slightly agape, eyes dilated in such a way you were no longer able to see their usual color anymore, chest slightly heaving despite lack of physical reasons for such a reaction. You almost wanted to hit yourself for being such a fool and not spotting these details sooner.Â
âNow, CastellanâŠyou have two options,â you stepped closer to him, leaving an appropriate amount of personal space in between. âYou either kiss me orââ
Luke grabbed your wrist with his uninjured hand and pulled you in. The same hand-guided your arms around his neck while also effectively eliminating the remaining distance between you two.Â
Without hesitation, he kissed you.
Likewise, you returned the action without a second thought. You frankly didnât care about the rain that was soaking the both of you. Kissing Luke felt like such a natural act that it felt simply like diving home. The way he held you made you feel like you were a national treasure he was so afraid of losing. Gods, you donât think you mind doing this ever so often.
Though, there was a certain urgency in the way Luke kissed you, as if afraid youâd either vanish or youâd change your mind. You pressed your lips harder against his, hoping heâd understand you didnât intend on leaving or having a change of heart.
A grunt escaped his throat as you kissed him harder. Oh, Luke Castellan already knew he was in immense trouble. He knew almost immediately that the concerning number of thoughts he had about you each day would only increase tenfold from this day on. He wondered if you could taste all of his unspoken words. If kissing you felt like this, he might as well sign away his heart, body, and mind to you. In fact, heâd sign anything you put in front of him without even considering the fine prints.Â
Luke slowly backed you against a tree, giving you a bit of support to lean against whilst shielding the both of you from the heavy rain. He smiled into the kiss as you hummed at his action, feeling it echo against his lips. His heart tugged, almost leaping out of his chest when your hands made their way to both sides of his face, cupping it intently like holding something yours. Yours. Fuck, he loved the sound of that.Â
You were the first to break the kiss. The both of you gasped for air while maintaining eye contact. The close-up view of his intense gaze drove your cheeks rosy. You could not help but admire the way his locks of wet curly hair clung onto his forehead, while raindrops fell from his face, some following the length of his eyelashes before falling â Oh, the way he glanced down at your lips at that second made you feel almost like you had the power to convince him into anything at the moment.Â
âYouâre my best friendâŠâ he broke the silence.
âMhm.â
â...but what if I want you to be more than that?â
âI can be both,â Lukeâs lips broke out into a smile, and you mirrored his facial expression. He leaned his forehead against yours whilst softly rubbing his thumb soothingly against your waist.
âIâm not against that.âÂ
As a larger grin broke out on your lips, Lukeâs eyes further softened. He realized right there and then that anything you wanted, he would not be against it. A breath of relief quietly escaped beneath Lukeâs breath. He could not wait for whatever was in store for the both of you in the future.
Good thing his messages in a bottle did get to you.

maybe amelia hadnât been too on the nose with her last song. she needed him to understand that she was done with him, for good. she wasnât going to go back to him, not that they had ever been anything for her to go back too. ameliaâs schoolgirl crush had been crushed when had drunkenly exclaimed âyouâre an idiot if you ever think iâm going to love you back. youâre my best mateâs sister, thatâs all youâll ever be to me.â what was it that they said of drunken words? they were sober thoughts, and as much as it hurt to admit it, she was an idiot for falling for him. but there was no reason for him to be so cruel.
perhaps the part that hurt the most was that he remembered none of his cruel words. to him everything between them was fine, and it pained her that he couldnât take a hint, he just couldnât take a hint that she wanted nothing to with him. it also didnât help that right after that day he announced he had a girlfriend he had been seeing for over 6 months. she had been the other woman, not physically but emotionally, and that was just as bad.
she jumped as her phone rang, the familiar facetime tune breaking her out of her trance. landoâs joyful face stared back at her and she felt horrible for having missed the race. but in her defense she had been too tired to wake up early enough to watch it. she felt horrible but she hoped lando would understand, itâs not like she was breaking a promise.
slowly she reached for her phone to answer, and lando began screaming in joy. amelia flinched at his volume and noticed he was surrounded by other people, oscar being one of them, she couldâve sworn she saw lewis hamilton there too.
âp2!â lando shouted, âi got p2!â
amelia squealed, âcongrats! thatâs amazing!â
âoscar got p4! weâre literally on top of the world right now!â
âand congrats to koala too,â she smiled. oscar waved at her before someone snatched the phone from landoâs grip. amelia stopped herself from gasping at the sight of daniel ricciardo.
daniel smiled brightly at her, âyou must be amelia, iâm daniel. anyways, weâre all dying to know is taylor dating fernando? have you heard anything?â
amelia laughed, âno, i havenât heard anything. you'll be the first to know if i learn anything."
"sick," daniel claimed, "i like you baby holland."
daniel flipped the camera around to lando, the boy was laid on the floor, being crushed by alex albon and george russell who were cheering him on loudly. daniel turned the camera back around to him, "is that you're new best friend?"
"sadly, he is," amelia said.
"well baby holland, i'll let you go. i'm sure you're a very busy woman."
"i am," amelia agreed, "i'm currently in the studio."
"STUDIO?!" lando exclaimed, "new music? when? get off alex!" lando pushed alex off him as the brunette laughed loudly. lando took his phone from daniel, "when? tell me amelia!"
amelia simply smiled mischievously at him, "oh look, i have to go walk my fish!"
"amelia!" lando shouted as daniel's laughter could be heard as she hung up. her heart warmed knowing lando supported whole-heartedly. his friendship meant so much to her, and she was glad she had dragged herself out of bed the day before
lando norris amelia holland! how dare you do this to me.
oscar piastri who broke your heart? seriously.
lando norris AMELIA! ANSWER THE TEXTS!

lando norris DANIEL! GET HER TO ANSWER THE PHONE! SHE LIKES YOU!
daniel ricciardo baby holland! c'mon! he's getting impatient.

peachy.
bullshit but okay.
i'm fine oscar. i swear.
you called me oscar, that's never happened. what happened to kangaroo? koala? pastry boy?
maybe i'm not fine. how am i supposed to be fine when the dickhead won't understand that i want nothing to do with him? he strung me along for months making me think that one day we could be something more. so i start releasing songs and he still won't get it.
have you i don't know, tried talking to him?
jeez oscar why didn't i think of that? the only time he ever seems to speak to me is when we're in a group setting. he has a girlfriend.
amelia please tell me he didn't.
cheat on his girlfriend with me? not physically. but emotionally yes.
that guy is a piece of work.
he wasn't always like this.
youâre not seriously defending the guy who cheated on his girlfriend?
iâm defending the guy i used to know. the harrison who was sweet and kind to me. he snuck me candy when my mum didn't allow me to have any. he took me to the movies when my brothers didn't want to hang out with me.
okay. whatever.
why are you getting mad at me?
iâm not mad. i just-
forget it. i have to go.
landoâs insisting i follow him to the club to celebrate
have fun.
i'm sorry
i think i like her...

ROTG x cupid!reader
pairing: platonic guardians x cupid!reader, hinting at romantic Jack x reader
genre: fluff?
warnings: very vague mention of your death to become a guardianÂ
growing up, you had always been very kind and just full of love
so, it was no surprise when you became the guardian of love, Cupid
everyone believes you to be this calm and mystical creature, but in actuality, youâre quite...chaoticÂ
if it wasnât for North, who you view as a father figure, youâd be causing quite the stir with all of your chaosÂ
when you first became a guardian, you were confused as to why The Man in the Moon would want youÂ
arenât guardians supposed to protect the children or something like that?Â
well, apparently thatâs not all they do
besides, your love isnât just romantic love
you also do familial love and friendly love, even though you donât dabble in those categories much since romantic love is where people mainly struggle
so, it makes sense that you can aide the guardians by helping children find love and be loved
North immediately took you under his wing, which you find out later he does for everyone
he explained the whole guardian thing to you and helped you find your way
Tooth ended up becoming a sister-like figure and Bunny a brother-like figure
despite Sandy being much older than you, you act like heïżœïżœïżœs your younger sibling, almost like heâs your own child. Heâs just so sweet and precious, okay?
when Jack comes into the picture though, all bets are off on keeping you containedÂ
you two cause havoc together that even North canât containÂ
you two especially like messing with the elves and Yeti, and of course Bunny, to his dismayÂ
something funny you like to do is whenever anyone in your makeshift family starts arguing (read: Jack and Bunny), youâll hit them with a special kind of friendship arrow where they basically will forget what they were arguing about and just stand there for a solid two minutes hugging
itâs even funnier when it wears off though since theyâll be disgusted at the fact theyâre hugging (before they get mad at you and chase you around Northâs shop)
everyone loves helping you out on Valentineâs Day!!Â
Bunnymund is usually in charge of the flowers and making all the bouquets and arrangements
North is in charge of the little gifts that lovers will share with one another
Sandy is in charge of giving them all dreams of their sweethearts
Tooth is in charge of sneakily sliding love letters and notes where ever you tell her toÂ
and Jack is in charge of causing âaccidentsâ to happen. Oh, you thought your books just randomly got too heavy on one side, causing them to crash to the floor next to the hot guy standing beside you which just so happens to grab his attention and make him help you which just so happens to spark conversation between you two? Yeah, I have some news for you
all of them are there for you whenever you get sad that a couple didnât work out, when someone abandons a child, and so on. They remind you that youâre only one person and that you canât help everyone all at onceÂ
as for Jack, this could go one of two ways
he can end up being like your brother and best friend combined, or he can end up becoming your lover
itâs up to you what to imagine ;)

Thanks so much for sharing your metas @theanimepsychologist , I learn a lot of things from you...
Sorry for just realizing it now, that you are the writer of one of my favorite 'Soul Eater' meta ever from a few years ago (love it so much).
Now I found your blog again through your JJK metas (new fan here, just got to JJK fandom last year)....
Can I ask something, do you think SatoSugu is queerbaiting? What do you think about Gojo and Geto's relationship as romantic subtext?
(Sorry if you don't ship them, it's just, I want to know objective pov like you that neither love nor hate Gojo and Geto as characters).
If I ask these questions to SatoSugu shipper or anti SatoSugu (Gojo/Geto hater) both of those groups are subjective to their likes and dislikes...
But if you don't want to talk about it, I understand, sorry if I ask too much.
Also, just want to tell you, one of the main reason why I entered the fandom, is because of stsg. The fan arts and fan fictions for SatoSugu are amazing....But I love JJK more and understand more about the story & characters are thanks to you @theanimepsychologist (Sorry again if my main reason for entering JJK fandom is because of shipping).
Well this is awkward... I've since changed my username and perplexed moots and followers alike because of it.
Anyways, is stsg queerbaiting???? HMMMMM let's taco'bout it under the cut.
I think the ship in the manga walks a very fine line between queerbaiting and whatever the opposite is, but imo, it is ultimately not queerbaiting. More about this in a little bit.
If I'm honest though, if we go by the strict definition of queerbaiting as a "marketing technique for fiction and entertainment in which creators hint at, but do not depict, same-sex romance or other LGBTQ+ representation," the anime feels by contrast queerbaity.
I say this because MAPPA seems to be very aware it is catering to a very specific target audience...
Like... did they have to go this hard with Nanami?
Similarly, they took creative decisions that were very openly supportive of stsg as a ship while still remaining somewhat ambiguous to all of the people who do not see the romantic undertones.
In other words, MAPPA goes out of their way to make certain aspects of the story more obvious, which can feel like it is very intentionally speaking to an audience that would enjoy such changes.
Honestly tho, I LOVED the creative liberties that the anime took in general.
ANYWAYS.
My thoughts on stsg... I've actually talked about how I do like this ship before. I used to be on camp "they're just friends" and came around because I saw the vision and now I can't unsee it. But the fact that I had to be shown the vision in order to "get it" makes me feel like you have to see the ship through a certain lens in order to appreciate it romantically.
Thing is that I personally find it dissatisfying that a ship is presented to me in little "hints" and "clues" rather than through the dynamic itself. Which is where the queerbaiting allegations come in.
HOWEVER, to me, knowing how Gege writes by subverting tropes, the "queerbaiting" hints are very intentionally placed in the manga to say "these two were lovers" as opposed to doing it for "marketing purposes".
Personally, I much prefer Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle's kurofai because the clues are hidden in the dynamic and their emotional behavior to one another.
Compared to stsg, I can only read romantic subtext in two or three canon stsg panels, but I'm also not sure if it's because of Gege's skill level, lesser focus on emotional intimacy, idk...
That's how I see it at least. And I honestly respect anyone who doesn't think of them as lovers because, again, the ship is somewhat hidden in clues, not in the dynamic. And say a stsg fan reads this, they could very well think "is she blind?!"
And this is where we get into post-modernism and jjk's main theme: no one owns the objective truth. You are reading jjk through your very own unique lens, and any meaning you make out of jjk is always filtered through that lens. Trying to say your truth is absolute is basically power scaling.
At one point or another someone has to agree to disagree.
So yeah, you'll hear me say this bit about not owning the ultimate truth a lot.
Anon, thank you so much for the kind comments đ„Č. I am so happy to hear you loved my Soul Eater write up and that you've ran into my jjk rambles too.
Honestly, I love writing about my favorite ships and nothing makes me sadder than the state of shipping in jjk fandom because people won't just mind their own business about who should be shipped with whom.
As a side note, I've been brainrotting about atsumei recently. Might actually write about the breadcrumbs because these two move me the way some of my absolute favorite ships, soma, asucaga, and kurofai move me.
Anyways I'VE RAMBLED WHY DID NO ONE STOP ME?, it looks like you are feeling worried about my thoughts on you starting to read jjk because of stsg. I say it is a wonderful thing that you started reading it and found enjoyment in it.
Thanks for reaching out, and as per usual I apologize on taking forever to answer asks... I have like 50 and I do try to answer most of them.

Meet the Mods!
What username(s) and platform(s) can folx find you on? (Please include links!)
Hi, folx! I'm Lillie Bell. I can be found on AO3, and all my shenanigans happen on tumblr @lilliebellfanfics
(Fun Fact) What is your favorite kind of potato?
Waffle House hashbrowns -- smothered, covered, and capped
How long have you been creating works in fandom spaces? How long have you been active in the SM fandom?
I'm one of the OG crew from when the internet was young (lol). I wrote SM fanfiction as a teenager during the era of Alicia Blade, ASMR, etc., I had a short stint in as the writing mod in the SML LJ community, and have recently returned to writing fanfiction, mostly smut, after a long hiatus. I also write for Seven Deadly Sins when I'm not completely lost in SM.
What type(s) of creative works do you usually make? (fanfics, digital art, cosplay)
I cannot draw to save my life or take a good picture, so I am solidly a writer only. I am super impressed by folx who can work in multiple mediums. Words are hard enough, so that's what I stick too :D
What do you enjoy about creating for the SM fandom?
I love the joy & support the community has for each other as well as the diversity of ships and people in the fandom. For the characters, there are so many facets to play with and explore that I never feel like I'm done telling their stories. There are so many more situations to put these babies in!
Are you strictly UsaMamo or do you create for other pairings as well?
I write more UsaMamo than any other pairing, but ReiNako are my grumpy x sunshine queens and I love them. I've also delved into writing KunZoi recently and love their dynamic as well. I'm very much ship and let ship, so I enjoy reading pretty much any ship, but I can only write a pairing/poly that I feel I have a good grasp on. Hence, usually UsaMamo, ReiNako, and sometimes KunZoi.
What inspires you to create works for Usagi and Mamoru?
All the feels (lol). I have specific facets of their personalities or backgrounds that I love to explore. I love to mess with Mamoru the Orphan and how that shapes his decisions & personality (good and bad), and how he evolves with that background over time. I love happy-go-lucky Usagi who is just out in a world being herself, falling through life and living it to the fullest, but also has these big responsibilities and rises to every call.
Do you tend to work on multiple projects (WIPs) simultaneously or try to finish one at a time?
I have multiple WIPs right now, but I tend to be very focused on one at a time (for better or worse). I don't like leaving things not done, so multiple WIPs starts to grate on me to just get it done.
Do you prefer large projects (chaptered fics, webtoons/zines, highly detailed art) or small projects (one-shots or simple art)?
I like one shots / smaller fics where I can hint at how we got here or how the future might look after, but the focus is one small moment between the characters. That said, I currently have two long fics I'm working on... because reasons. XD
Are there any common themes, situations, tropes, or mediums in your work?
I write fairly broadly between dark, smut, and some fluff. There's usually a comedic edge, so it's not 24/7 serious (I'm not that person if you noticed ;D ). My favorite tropes are forbidden love/romance and the banter of grumpy x sunshine. There are definite themes but they may not always come through. For Mamoru, I like to put him in situations he isn't prepared for and help him make bad decisions. I really enjoy playing with his connection to Earth / Elysion and his strong sense of loyalty/duty to Usagi, as well as his shitennou. For Usagi, I think her friends treat her too delicately and, even though she's a bit silly or not totally organized, she will show up for her friends or the world when it's in trouble. I like to play in that space where she is unexpectedly mature b/c Usagi is a quintessential example of a person who doesn't have her shit together, she's not perfect & that's okay, and she can save the world just as she is. MF QUEEN.
I bring these elements into my other pairings--they are pretty common dynamics. KunZoi and ReiNako are facets of grumpy x sunshine and love vs duty/honor. So, I do like to push the characters into uncomfortable territory and then see how they respond. Rei always raises to the bait. Kunzite will crumble... eventually (if mechanical bulls are involved).
Is there anything you havenât explored artistically and would like to try?
I've done a little bit of everything in my tenure in the fandom, but I think I'd like to produce a few more chaptered works, but not excessively long (6 chaps vs 20). I seem to be strong in either the one shot category or long fic category, but not in between. So that's something I'd very much like to work on for my own sanity.

ê°â Deity's Evening Canvas ê±
Fine, white snow showers the town under the full moon's magnificent light and instantly transforms it into a winter wonderland. The evening was a masterpiece carved from a deity's canvas, glazed with the brightest of auroras they have ever laid their eyes upon.
This was the perfect timing. Every area seemed to magically turn into a fairy's playground, plain pine trees now dusted with grace from above. Waters turn into the shiniest of crystals, decorating the world in all forms. It was all inviting. But perhaps the most breathtaking site of all was a lake near a cozy cabin. He instantly knew what to show herâ what gift her eyes will receive that will fill her with delightâ the simplest yet the best form of magic.
"Cookie!" He waves both his arms, almost flailing from enthusiasm. "I gotta show you something very quick! Follow me!"
She walks down the steps, reluctant about where he would be travelling to. "Where do you think you're going this time? Who knows what's out there that could potentially put us in danger?"
"I know this place! I've been here! People come here every so often and return safely!" He ran towards her and took her hand, brushing his warm palms against hers.
"Trust me. I've studied about this place days prior."
Cookie nods, still with a hint of hesitation. She remained cautious as they delve into the woods, following a path dusted white. Biscuit was someone she could trust. He had never let her down, and deeply apologizes whenever he felt like he wronged her. She adored the idea of having a friend so trustworthy and gentle, giving each other their needs and being there for one another. They were inseparable. Him alone was enough to quickly reassure her on wherever they were going while still remaining a watchful eye. A treasure of a friend like him shouldn't be harmed. Not in the most secluded of places. Not in thisâ
A frozen lake shining against the parade of lights in the night sky, poles on the opposite sides of a beige brick path with hanging amber lights inviting them towards a set of wooden chairs and tables, decorated with a matching light yellow table cloth. It was a warm sight to beholdâ a man-made contrast of ornaments to the natural artwork in the background. She couldn't think of words to perfectly fit the description of beauty that this area holds.
"Wow." This was the only word she muttered out of her slightly open mouth. Her wide, glimmering eyes spoke of the rest of her thoughts. It wandered through every detail like an art inspector, or in the similar manner of a musician with his eyes closed, focusing his heart and soul on the orchestra's heavenly chords and perfect harmonies that enter his ears. In this case however, it was converted into an enchanting imagery.
"See? I knew you you'd love it here!" He gestures toward a seat, wiping off a layer of snow. "How about we take a moment of silence here, yeah?"
The two of them spent the rest of the time under the moonlight, the stars, and the auroras that came along while they still can, knowing that a perfect evening like this was a rare occurrence. Cookie eventually leaves her worries behind, making room for admiration.
There were nothing to be afraid of in this world that paints art in every form possible, highlighting the beauty that emits emotion to every living being. Giving shadows to the ones being shined upon, creating a harmonious canvas, yet full of contrastsâ revealing the true nature of things in a captivating manner.
She gave a gentle smile to Biscuit, who was too busy pointing at the places he found as beautiful as hers. She was glad to know that it wasn't just her who thoroughly cherished this evening of magic as he described perfectly.

An introduction to another two of my set of OCs (That makes it 4/6), Cookie and Biscuit. Again, these are aliases and the same thing goes for the next two that I will be introducing next. Additional information if anybody is curious; Cookie's hair is light lavender and Biscuit's is peach with a more orange tone to it. Satsuu has light brown and Cupcake has light pink.

I am absolutely tickled pink as the saying goes - it seems like Munchies is becoming a detective and trying to figure out who I am. (It's me, May again if that wasn't obvious)
Just a few responses to things: So I think "Home" was denied, but they DO have Book, Face, and Workplace are copywritten! They do have specific things in relation to that (not the word itself but them being apps and whatever) but here's a comprehensive list of all of their trademarks and how they're trademarked: https://about.meta.com/brand/resources/meta/our-trademarks/
Having self care/accountability partners is probably the only way I'm actually alive and semi-healthy today, so I'd be honored to add you to the list. I forgot to drink water today before I went to make this response, so I'm drinking a whole water bottle now, starting while I write this.
I honestly find all discourse on Tumblr or any other social media platform to be particularly annoying and frustrating. If it's not about something genuinely problematic then just... stop. Thank you for that writing, I've re-read it at least six times at this point, honestly. Anyways, I just wanted to talk about Munchies being curious and I figured I'd use it to respond to your own response... to my responses... because I found that curiosity absolutely hilarious. I'll give her a hint, though - she messaged me. Take care, please, I'd be terribly sad if you hurt yourself. Your slightly anonymous friend, ~May
curiouser and curiouser... a small favor, May- if i can ask it. please don't tell me who you are just yet. i enjoy having a mystery friend. munchies definitely knows who you are as far as i can tell, and when she put in what your username on discord might have potentially be, i asked her to delete it haha
i like the spice of a good mystery, it adds flavor to life. you're very intriguing, and i'm basing that off your writing style and the content of your messages. of course, if you wish to reveal yourself to me directly, go right ahead. but i'd hate for things to get revealed too soon. (as a side note, i am incredibly loopy from tackling final projects, and i have no idea how my tone is coming off here. i'm hoping it isn't too 'disney villain'. my brain is very fried. i'm trying to say that wondering who you could be is a source of fun for me, even if we've never interacted in places besides tumblr before. you're welcome to reveal who you are on your own time, if you wish.)
pretty entertaining stuff from facebook, i'll say.
good on you for drinking water. i'll try and do the same.
i hear you on tumblr discourse, my friend. i've seen people write dissertation length arguments on stuff that isn't that important, and it's exhausting. i use this phrase a lot, but i do cultivate who i follow and who i pay attention to very carefully.
i will... do my best to not self sabotage, but not without sighing and grumbling about it. i have nine days of school left before summer, and it's just a matter of not doing anything too self destructive during that time. this is something that happens every year around this time, and i do my best to make smart choices and keep out of trouble. my friends are being kept up to date on how i feel, and they know what to do if i start to spiral or head down a bad road. (for friends who have known me in the long term, 3+ years, we have systems built in place for this kind of thing. my support network is strong, even when i'm not.)
but! then summer will start, and i know what will happen. a week or two in, the stress will shed off, and i'll return to my usual soft and happy self for the duration of the season. i'm looking forward to that version of me reappearing, because here's the secret.
that's the real me. and that version is my favorite one.

Vrae or Ves, your choice
(and only now that I ask about those two does it occur to me how well your username checks out!)
¿Por qué no los dos? And yes, I am a huge fan of dark elves; have been since I was about 9. :)
Vrae
Lost in Paradise by Evanescence
This song is near the end of Vrae's playlist. It speaks to the grief and guilt she feels after arriving in the Prime Material Plane. She feels responsible for the deaths of everyone Caspar killed when he was after her, and responsible for his death when he was finally turning towards redemption. She's been trying to put one foot in front of the other and leave that all behind in this beautiful new world, but she's only good at lying to herself, and lying to yourself isn't the same as moving on. She is wallowing in her misery and desperately yearning to see Caspar again, to make things right. The joys of this world are ultimately hollow for her without the man she always dreamed of escaping with.
Vivethys
Dance in the Fire by Nemesea
This is Vivethys' war song. This is her letting her darkness out and unleashing hell on her enemies. Fuck the Dominion. Fuck the Covenant. She screams Blood for the Pact. If you want to send your troops to Morrowind to burn her people's fields, she'll be waiting to show you what the fires of Morrowind really look like. Fjorun, of course, finds this fearless, dangerous side of her incredibly attractive, so there's a hint of that vibe here as well.

Jason swore loudly and had to resist the urge to throw his controller down, pissed that he kept dying cause of the game's stupid glitches (Also known as own mistakes). Still, he regained his composure, and smiled before saying
"Alright chat, we're gonna finish up this one and then we're gonna move on to another game. There should be a poll on top for what we do next"
Jason was a moderately successfully game streamer, averaging about 200 to 300 viewers a night, entirely based on his wit and skill. He knew for sure that they weren't coming for his looks, given his weedy, thin frame, overly pimpled face and large, nerdy glasses. Still, it was enough for him, and he was happy with the progress that he'd made.
As Jason got himself set up for the next game, he heard a shocking sound from above him. The victory theme from one of his favorite JRPGs was blaring through the speakers, and he came up, staring at the screen in shock. He knew what that sound meant. That meant someone had tipped him one thousand dollars, completely out of nowhere.
He looked in shock at the notification on the stream, seeing that it was from someone named JockBro69, with the simple message "Can't wait to get to know you better, cutie~"
Jason was completely stunned. Not only had someone actually redeemed the donation goal that he set as a joke (That being that whoever was stupid enough to tip 1000 dollars got to have a 15 minute private chat with him), it was also someone that he'd never seen in his chat before.
Thoroughly weirded out, but knowing that he had to honor his commitment, he sent the guy a quick private message.
"Dude, I don't know how to thank you enough! Guess I'll see ya pretty soon!"
With that, he sent the man his private zoom link, and said goodbye to the chat, who were still going wild over this turn of events, before pausing, the stream and hopping over to discord for the call.
Not two seconds after his stream stopped, he got a requested video call on discord from the guy, and he opened it up, giving a second for the video to load, but when it did, he was completely dumbfounded again. He was expecting the mysterious donator to be some fat, sweaty silicon valley nerd with too much and money on his hands, but instead what met him was possibly the hottest man he's ever seen, standing up and looking down at his webcam with a friendly expression.
"Fuck, bro! Its so good to finally fucking meet you, I've been such a big fan for a long time, and this is a really big deal for me~
The man had a deep, rumbling, pleasant voice, that shot straight down Jacob's spine and left him feeling strangely... inadequate. Like the fact that his voice wasn't as smooth or melodic as this guy's was his fault, and he should be ashamed of that fact. Still, this guy was pretty pleasant to look at, Jason had to admit. He wasn't gay, definitely not, but he could acknowledge when another guy simply looked good.
Jason scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, not entirely sure of what he should do or say. Still, this guy spent 1000 dollars on this meeting, so he had to try anyway.
"So, umm.... I see your username is jockbro69... What's your actual name thought? I don't think I've ever seen you in chat before..."
The other man actually laughed at this, before looking confused and saying
"What are you talking about bro? Its me, Ethan! I'm in your chat all the time! Man, I guess what they say about playing games so much is true, huh?"
At this statement, Jason actually went pale with shock. THIS was Ethan? This was the guy who's username used to be runningLink? Who was an active fan of the zelda series, constantly begged Jason to play them, and bemoaned the fact that no would date him? It just didn't seem right...
Still, Jason, ever the semi professional, continued on, pretending that he wasn't shocked at the news.
"Well, thanks for supporting me so much! Seriously, this means a lot to me... Ummm... so I guess tell me some of your favorite things about the channel then!"
The man laughed again, the sound coming out in a slow, dumb chuckle, before saying
"What's my favorite thing? Do I even have to say, bro? Its the amazing piece of eye candy I'm looking at right now. You're super hot, bro~"
At this, Jason was shocked, but he chuckled awkwardly while blushing, and said
"Really? I don't think I've ever heard a single person say that before. I guess I consider myself slightly below average..."
The guy looked confused at that, before pressing on
"Really, bro? You look super hot to me, you got those bright, blinding blue eyes that you can just get lost in~"
At this point, Jason knew the man was just messing with him. His eyes have always, and will always be a dark, muddy brown, hidden behind his massive frames. Jason was about to respond, when Ethan continued
"Yeah, and you got that super stylish haircut too, really makes you look super masculine~"
Now Jason was REALLY confused. The guy was right, he did always get complements on his eyes, the bright, shocking blue visible and striking even through his huge glasses. But his hair was always a long, unkempt greasy mess.
"Ethan, are you sure you're okay, you're not just seeing things? Cause I don't know what you're talking about"
Ethan ignored the comment, just continuing to press on
"And you've got that hot, manly face, with your strong jaw and amazing profile"
Jason was confused again. Sure, his stylish haircut did help him look much better, but his face had always been pretty androgynous, with hints of baby fat still present in his cheeks. Again, before he could interrupt, Ethan continued,
"And you've got that smooth smooth skin, that hot stubble, that sexy smirk of yours. You're the full package bro~"
Jason laughed at this. Ethan was clearly being way too complementary. Sure his face had a great shape to it, with strong cheekbones and a square jaw, but his skin was still acne marked as hell, his smile was crooked and awkward, and he'd never been able to grow any facial hair, no matter how much he tried.
"I really have no idea what you're talking about Ethan. Sure I've got some good features, but the overall package isn't much to write home about~"
Ethan smirked again, his eyes lighting up with humor, as if he knew something I didn't.
"Nah, bro, you're underselling yourself. Plus, you've got that body~"
"What about my body? I think its pretty average, though I guess I'm a bit on the skinny side..."
Jason looked down at himself, trying to contemplate what Ethan meant. Sure, he'd been blessed with an attractive, manly face, but it didn't change the fact that his body was still below average at best.
"Again, bro! Putting yourself down. You really think those massive logs you have for arms are below average?"
Jason looked down at his skinny arms, and said
"More like logs than twigs man, seriously."
"And what about your legs? You've spent so long working on em, you've got thighs and glutes to kill for~"
Jason laughed again
"I dunno man! Most people say the exact opposite. They say I spend too much time on arms and not enough on my torso and legs. What can I say though? I love having big, beefy arms."
"Of course you do, bro? Who wouldn't? Especially when right in between em, you got your big, pillowy chest, your sexy abs, and your super toned back~"
Jason was seriously starting to wonder if Ethan was on something. Anyone could clearly see from first glance that Jason's body was badly proportioned, his arms and legs being massive from months to years of work, while he neglected his back, pecs and ab muscles. Still, he thought he looked pretty alright honestly.
"And I especially love how you're not only super sexy, you know it and flaunt it~ I don't think I've ever seen you once wear a shirt. The most you'll wear is a necklace, and even then, not like that covers anything, bro~ Only makes you look sexier"
Now here Jason had to disagree. He knew that he had cultivated and developed an amazing body over his years of going to the gym, but that was all for his own personal satisfaction. He never flaunted it unnecessarily, especially not during a stream.
"And I love the fact that you're such a fucking bro, bro. Every other word out of your mouth is bro and dude, you can't go even five minutes without flexing and thinking of fucking, or going to the gym, or hanging out with your other hot bros. We all know that your brain is basically only good for working out and looking hot. No smart's up there. And you've got your deep, sexy voice, too. Makes it even hotter that you're a gay bro, just like me"
Jason HAD to laugh at that. What the guy was saying was just so ridiculous.
"What the hell are you talking about? Look, I know that I like to show off my sexy body a lot, but that doesn't mean I'm some kind of dumb jock. And I'm definitely straight, dude. Don't know why you'd think I'm gay"
Ethan pressed on, completely unabashed by Jason's last comments.
"But you know the best fucking part, bro? Its that power of yours. The fact that any weak ass nerd who looks at you and your huge fucking muscles grows into a hot, dumb bro like us within seconds~"
Jason was busy flexing, staring at his own bicep in awe, as if he was shocked by him impressive he was. He looked up at Ethan blearily, saying
"Sorry, bro, what'd you say? I guess I got a bit fucking distracted. Huhuhu. But who could blame me~"
"Nah, it was nothing bro. You don't need to worry about it. Now should head back to the stream?"
Jason gasped in excitement, having forgotten entirely about the fact that there was a whole stream audience full of lame ass nerds, just ready for him to make as sexy as he and Ethan were.
"You got it bro~ This is gonna be so fucking hot~"
Jason left the call, going back to the stream and restarting, glad to see that a full 300 people were still watching, even through the extended break. The second he turned his camera on, he could see that people were confused for some reason, saying a stranger broke into his house. How stupid could these people be? How did they not recognize him? Still, not like it would matter for long...
"Hey bros! How're we all fucking doing? Welcomes to today's stream..."
He trailed off, looking blankly at the camera, before saying
"You know what? Fuck video games! Who needs them when you can do this~"
And as his pecs bounced and bounced hypnotically, the chat slowly transitioned from messages like "What the fuck is happening?" or "Who is this dumb jock?" to "Fuck, bro! Your pecs look so fucking hot today!" and "Huhuhu, I love making my pecs bounce like Jace's~"
And so the stream continued, Jace showing everyone all the amazing things his body could do, while anyone that was watching, whether they wanted to or not, began to copy him exactly. And as the stream went on, the viewer count rose, and rose, and rose...

TEMPERATURE MODERATOR » shoto todoroki
unrequested, but just a little scenario thatâs been running through my mind
CHARACTERS: Shoto Todoroki x reader
SUMMARY: in which your âgood pal âtodoroki once let you hold onto his left side to warm up after he accidentally freezes you during the USJ attack, and you then consistently proceed to use him as a human temperature moderator.
WARNINGS: fluff
IMAGINE REQUESTS IS OPEN, JUST SLOW TO GET TO THEMâsend all to my INBOX
MHA MASTERLIST
"Um... hey... Todo... roki...â
You spoke between shivers, standing behind him.
You watched as his shoulders rose in surprise after he finished unfreezing the villains, asking them what their plans for All Might were. Everything had happened so fast from the villains breeching the USJ, to one of them warping the students to different locations, to Todoroki completely freezing the area. You knew he was impressive, but his power was on a whole different level.
âL/N?â his heterochromatic eyes widened when he saw you there, smiling sheepishly as your limbs felt cold. âWhy didnât you get my attention sooner?â
âOh, yâknow, you seemed busy getting information out of those villains,â you replied awkwardly. If you were able to move your arms, you wouldâve been scratching your head at this point.
He huffed at your response, but a small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as he walked over, placing a hand over the ice entrapping your body. Steam began to flow into the air as he melted the ice away from you.
You fell forward a bit after he was done, and he reached out to help steady you.
âAre you alright?â he asked.
You stood up straight, moving your arms out of his grasp as you nodded vigorously. Your palms went to your bare arms, trying to warm yourself back up.
A guilty look flashed on his face, and he held out his left arm.
âHere, hold onto me,â he said, looking away from you as a slight tint formed on his face, but his poker face remained.
âPardon?â
âI can keep you warm with my left side,â he mumbled. âJust grab on until you feel better.â
Awkwardly, you let yourself wrap your arms around his torso, and his left arm snaked around your shoulders. You felt yourself slowly warming back up, but was it from embarrassment or from his quirk?
âLetâs go find the teachers and our classmates,â he said.
âąâââââââââ°ââ°ââââââââââą
To say your friends had a lot to ask about Todorokiâs protective arm around you during the USJ attack was an understatement. He had ran into battle to help All Might, practically carrying you as his arm around your shoulder moved to your waist. His grip had tightened as he ran onto the scene, sure to bring you with him without you toppling over.
Afterwards, the girls all wanted to know what was going on. Toru had told them all about how Todoroki had accidentally frozen you alongside the villains, gushing about how afterwards he was a total prince charming offering to hold you until you were warm. You and Todoroki looked at each other in surprise when she had revealed she had been there. Neither of you had any clue, which meant he couldâve also accidentally froze her.
But as for your friends questions? You didnât have much to say. It wasnât like it was anything other than a polite gesture and an apology for freezing you.
âąâââââââââ°ââ°ââââââââââą
You hadnât talked to Todoroki much outside of a group setting since the attack on the USJ.Â
You forget which of the girls had planned it, or how you got dragged outside of your house, but there you were. You were walking in a small crowd of class 1A students into an ice-skating rink, one of them suggesting to hang out after class got out.
Looking around, you saw Todoroki standing a bit further back from the group, observing the event around them. You wondered how he wasnât cold, clad in a black turtleneck and a pair of jeans. Then, you remembered: he could probably regulate his body temperature using his left side.
Your classmates tugged on your arm and dragged you to put on ice skates and then onto the rink. You giggled as Ochako and Mina pulled you along with them, and laughed out when youâd fall backwards and land on your butt.
Eventually, you had broken off from the girls, and you saw Todoroki skating around. Of course the boy with an ice quirk was great at ice skating.
To the best of your ability, you skated over to him. The idea of being warm sounded nice, so you found yourself seeing only one logical solution to your problem.
âTodoroki!â you said enthusiastically, going to grab onto his left arm.
He looked startled as you latched yourself to his side.
âUm... what are you doing?â he asked as you wrapped your arms around his left one, using him for warmth and balance.
âItâs cold in here, and your left side is warm,â you responded with an innocent smile.
Todorokiâs cheeks heated up from the close proximity you had to him.
âShouldâve worn a bigger jacket then,â he said.
âYou let me get warmed up by you before!â
âI was also the reason you were cold before.â
âWell, why should I be cold when thereâs a perfectly hot boy standing right here,â you jokingly muttered.
Your eyes widened as you realized what you had just said, and how it could sound by anyone other than the two of you. He seemed to realize it, too, a hint blush forming on his face.
âT-thatâs not what I meant,â you stuttered out, looking down in embarrassment and reflexively tightened your grip on Todorokiâs arm.
He looked away from you, but also didnât shrug you off. He moved out of the way as Bakugo came racing past, detaching him arm from you to dodge a possible clash. You swear all you saw was a light blond flash as you fell backwards onto your but, grated ice flying into your face.
âWatch it, damn extras!â Bakugo yelled over his shoulders.
Todorokiâs looked down at your with wide eyes, a slight upturn of his lips.
âHere,â he offered you a hand, and you took it. After a moment of silent, he added, âI suppose you can hold onto me since you donât look like you know how to skate.â
âąâââââââââ°ââ°ââââââââââą
Todoroki turned into Shoto, and Shoto turned into Sho at the same rate that UA high school turned into UA boarding school, your classmates became your roomatesâerm, building mates?âand your paths to being heroes took an abrupt jump off of its steady progression straight into the deep end.
How did you guys even find time to go to the beach? you wondered, sitting underneath an umbrella on a hot day, hearing the sounds of people talking and waves crashing.
âSho!â
You got up from your spot to run up towards the boadwalk strip of shops, where Todoroki was walking. He was in a pair of jeans, a white shirt, and a blue button upâone of his nicest casual outfits in your opinion.
âOh, hey, Y/N,â he greeted, and you fell into pace next to him.
You kept on glancing over at him every few seconds, but not saying anything.
The boy eyed you, his grey eye turning to the side of his head to look at you.
âIâm not a human air conditioner, Y/N,â he muttered as he stuck his right hand out for you.
âHm?â you asked innocently.
âYouâre hot, right? Thatâs why youâre standing so cold to my right side?â he questioned, but it was more of a statement. âJust grab on already.â
You smiled sweetly as wrapped your arms around him, a content smile on your face while he looked away with a tint on his cheeks.
âąâââââââââ°ââ°ââââââââââą
Of course, there was no way you could just so casually hold onto the Shoto Todoroki without your classmates wondering what was going on between the two of you.Â
If you were honest, it had all just been a spur of the moment decision. After the USJ incident, deciding to go to him for warmth was nothing but an impulsive decision. You had half expected him to think you were weird and shrug you off, but he had let you hold onto him at the ice skating rink. And then again at the beach.
So, when the girls had an âinterventionâ in your bedroom to ask what was going on between you and the Half-n-Half boy, you were positive the answer was nothing, whether they believed it or not.
And now, there was a dormitory movie night. A relaxation day planned by Iida and Momo, and you sat on the couch next to Todoroki. He sat in the middle of the couch with Midoriya and Ochako sitting on the other side of him while you squeezed in between hm and the arm of the couch. You were on his right side, which was nice with the warm tea Momo had made for everyone and the fuzzy blanket you had thrown over yourself and the youngest Todoroki.
As the movie continued, you learned your head against his shoulder.
âMm,â he grunted softly, shuffling around in his seat to get comfortable.
Eventually. his arm just wrapped around your shoulder, letting your head lay on his chest instead of his boney shoulder. Your cheeks warmed up, but he kept his gaze on the TV.
Ochako and Midoriya were looking between each other and the two of you with smirks on their faces, giddily laughing together.
As you got too cold in his arms, you moved so that your upper body was practically in his lap, attempting to get closer to his left side.
âJesus,â he muttered. âStop moving.â
âItâs too cold now,â you mumbled.
He sighed, placing his left hand on top of your head.
âąâââââââââ°ââ°ââââââââââą
Yet another movie night, and this time, before you could sit down, a hand grabbed your wrist.
âYeah, not this again,â Todoroki said, and he pulled you down towards him before you could sit next to him.
You landed in his lap, and your cheeks heated up.
âU-uh,â you mumbled as he pulled the blanket around the both of you and let his arms wrap about your waist.
âYou move too much during movies,â he stated as if it made sense why you were in his lap. âThis way, you donât need to because youâre against both my hot and cold side.â
âUm... okay...â you said softly.
You leaned against him softly and his chest rested on your shoulder to watch the movie.Â
How it was that Shoto Todoroki became your human temperature moderator, you had no idea.

Few Too Many
Corpse Husband x Reader (Female)
Warnings: Swearing, In-game violence and death, Suggestive comments
Genre: Protective fluff, Humor, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: Jealousy is a dangerous thing, especially when the jealous person is armed with a gun....in a game of Counter Strike. At least Y/Nâs friend will now know not to mess around and flirt with her, especially not with Corpse around.
Requested by đ Anon. Hi dear! Thank you so much for your request! Sorry itâs taken me so long to complete and post your request but here it finally is! I didnât want to make it IRL violence to avoid triggering anyone while I also felt itâd be very ooc for Corpse to beat someone up but I still hope you enjoy the fic if you come across it and read it! Love, Vy â€
âHey everyone!â Y/N greets her squad as they all customize their characters while I sit there, observing and unknowing of what Iâm supposed to do. âI invited Corpse to play with us today, hope yâall donât mind.â
âOf course not! Nice to finally meet you, Corpse. Weâve heard a ton about you from Y/N, thanks for making our girl the happiest sheâs ever been.â One of her friends says, the tone of his voice suggesting heâs only half-joking with the dad like comment he made.
âNice to meet you too, man. Glad Iâm the one she gave the chance of making her happy. Thatâs all I ever wanna do.â Though it may sound cheesy, as guys, her friends can probably read into how genuinely I mean what Iâve said.
Dating a girl with only guy friends has itâs pros and cons. Which outweigh which is still up for debate since Iâm still researching, but so far so good in my opinion. This is the first time Iâm interacting with them directly so Iâve still got a long way to go in terms of getting to know them and the details of their relationship with Y/N better. Regardless, I at least know they can easily understand me and put themselves in my shoes if I ever âmess things upâ with Y/N and she goes to complain to them - something that will most likely never happen. Iâd never dare make this girl upset. Chances are, if I do, her friends wonât get to me on time - I would deliver my own punishment just the way I think I deserve it. However, thereâs also the chance of them getting super protective of her and ganging up on me over something as small as a fight. By the many things and stories Y/Nâs shared with me about them, I believe they wouldnât think twice about kicking someoneâs ass for her. Theyâre not massive dudes - Iâve seen pictures of them - but I for one donât ever wanna see em angry.
âAy bro, whatâd you do to score our best girl? You must know what she likes. If so please, by all means, do tell.â One of them, not the one who was previously talking, speaks up, his words making me furrow my brows in both confusion and irritation.
I open my mouth to complain as I slowly start cracking my knuckles when Y/N and her friends beat me to it. Thing is, Y/Nâs friend group consists of three guys and her and yet four voices scolded the guy that made that suggestive comment. That being said, this guy probably isnât considered to be one of her friends, at least not one thatâs a permanent part of her friend group.
âSeth, cut it out!â The guy I was previously speaking to says sharply before softening his tone to refer to me, âSorry about my brother, excuse his lack of brain cells, please.â
Just then, I also receive a message from someone. Checking my phone, turns out itâs Y/N who by the way is currently in the living room while Iâm in the recording room. Her text reads:
Y/N ~ Ignore Seth. I told Leo to not invite him but heâs still here somehow
I send her back a quick reassuring text before answering the guy I now know is named Leo, âNo worries, itâs fine.â
âSee? The guy can take a joke, youâre all just freaking out over nothing!â Seth laughs, reminding me and the others of how loud he is compared to us.
Despite acting like itâs no big deal, I canât help but admit to myself that this behavior of Sethâs has awoken a deeply buried suspicion of mine thatâs not only mine but also arises in every guy whose girlfriend hangs out with a lot of guys. Itâs not that I donât trust Y/N - she could literally blindfold me and tell me to walk through a pool of lava, promising it wouldnât hurt and Iâd do it - but we all know about that saying that every guy in a group with one girl has liked said girl at least once.
Disturbing to think these four, including Seth five, dudes couldâve possibly been my competition at some point. Itâs nice that theyâre all super chill about it, mostly cause some of them have girlfriends as I was told.
Nevertheless, we get over that hiccup and carry on with the small talk and preparations for the game. Since itâs my first time playing CSGO, Y/N, Leo and her other friend Clancy explain the mechanics to me in detail to avoid me getting confused mid-game and getting myself killed. When they finish, we start the round and wait for the gameâs algorithm to separate us into two teams which Y/N jokingly refers to as cops and robbers. Unfortunately, the end result of that separation ends up being me getting put in the terroristsâ force with Leo and Clancy while Y/Nâs with the FBI, partnered with Seth and her other friend Evan.
âAlright, team, we shall now disperse. Corpse, remember, if you see more than one of them, radio in and lay low, weâll be with you as soon as possible.â Leo informs me as he runs off in one direction, Clancy going in the opposite. I confirm I understand and go along my way too, heading for this ancient looking structure that looks like it could belong in an old-timey movie.Â
Walking in, I realize the place is way bigger than it appeared on the outside. A quick look up confirms that there are three fucking floors above, not to mention that the ground floor is huge. Luckily, there are many crates and barrels to hide behind if I come across an FBI agent. I sure as hell hope itâs Y/N, I could maybe even try talking her into giving me a second chance at life and pretend she never saw me. Come to think of it though, Iâd probably prefer getting killed by her rather than her friends - especially Seth.
Given that weâre in a Discord call, I can hear all the conversation going on. They are all quiet though, I can just periodically hear the mumbles of someone muttering to themselves as they navigate the map cautiously out of fear of running into their opponent unprepared. The silence is put to an end though when Seth speaks up, addressing Y/N.
âYo, your boyfriendâs with the terrorists, ainât he? Thatâs like the universe giving you a sign that yâall shouldnât be together.â The fucker laughs at his own joke while I can literally hear Y/N rolling her eyes.
âHave you heard of Romeo and Juliet, Seth?â She asks sarcastically, almost getting a chuckle out of me but I suppress it to avoid getting caught listening in.
âYeah, they both die at the end. Fucking boooriiinngg.â Just then, I spot two silhouettes entering the building. Aiming my gun at them reveals their names - just the people Iâm currently involuntarily eavesdropping on. Seth and Y/N donât notice me though so I quickly duck behind a crate and prepare to radio in when Seth continues verbally torturing Y/N and dancing on my last nerves, âI personally think the friends-to-lovers trope is far more interesting...â
Did this guy just- no, heâs gotta be fucking kidding me
Iâm left with my jaw hanging in disbelief at this guyâs audacity. I have no doubt Y/Nâs about to put him in his place herself but I just gotta have my own chat with this guy. And by âchatâ I mean I mindlessly rush out from behind the crate towards where I saw him and Y/N and open fire on him. I hear his startled and upset screams with Y/Nâs laughter in the background. She doesnât try to stop me as a teammate of his should and would, instead she just observes the scene unfold, laughing her ass off.
âYo man what the fuck was that for?!â I hear Sethâs yell but only faintly since the sound of gunshots is still echoing through my headphones. Yeah, Iâm not done shooting this fucker.
âCorpse...Corpse, buddy...â Y/N manages through fits of laughter she cannot tame, âThatâs a few too many bullets, heâs already dead.â
âAnd that was a few too many comments for him to be let off the hook.â I answer as sharply as I can with the new-formed smile on my face. What can I say, her happiness is contagious.
âWell, you got your first kill in CSGO. Good job, babe! Iâm super proud of you!â She cheers for me, clapping her hands excitedly.Â
âNah that was my first overkill.â I quickly add, with a more threatening tone:Â âAnd it wonât be my last.â
âLetâs just hope there arenât few too many of these overkills either.â She snickers.
âThat doesnât depend on me, babe.â I say smugly, suggestively enough for Seth to pick up the dropped hint. Mother fuckerâs officially been put in his place and I couldnât possibly be happier - with the added bonus of getting a ton of laughter out of Y/N who also decides to walk away, leaving me unharmed but promising to shoot to kill next time she sees me.
Iâm ok with that. She could kill me anyday.

Updated Fancafe Level-up Guide (2022.02.07 Version)
Please note that the guidelines are subject to change at any time without warning. Check the requirements to make sure they match the contents of this post before trying to upgrade! The requirements have been updated as of February 7th, 2022.
It can often take several tries to get accepted and level up in the fancafe, and KQ usually changes their questions once a year or so but currently the questions can be found in the channel labelled âë±ìœì ìČâ and the guidelines for application are:
1. Real Name / Fancafe Nickname / email (can be daum/kakao/google) / DOB (YYMMDD) / gender / Country of residence Tip:Â for fancafe nicknames, you must follow the guidelines in the fancafe otherwise you will not be accepted and your application will be returned without notice! You cannot use ATEEZ member names, KQ names, staff names, ATEEZ family member names, etc., you cannot use special characters/numbers in your nickname, no names of other groups/idols/companies. Iâve seen some people say that you can use numbers but from personal experience my application was denied until I took the numbers out of my nickname!
2. List ATEEZ members (in Korean or English) in age order with their full name (ie. Park Seonghwa, Kim Hongjoong, etc.)
*NEW* 3. Write down the date ATEEZ won 1st place on music shows along with the song they won with in 2021 only. (Hint: there should be two: Song Title + YYMMDD)
*NEW* 4. Please write the official Instagram hashtag in the order of ATEEZ Member âSeonghwa, Yunho, Mingi, Jonghoâ. (Hint: [#ìžæíê·žëš], [#Yunhois3gram], [#fix_onstagram], [#ì«ì€íê·žëš] - I recommend you keep the tags as they are written on the membersâ posts to prevent being returned)
Submit your application in the Level-up channel only (ë±ìœì ìČ). It can take a while to hear back on whether youâve been promoted or not, but I would also keep an eye on the return channel (ë±ì
늏íŽ) and search for your username in case youâve been returned! If your app has been returned and you arenât sure why/youâve answered all the questions correctly, the issue might be in your username! They typically will not tell you why your application has been denied.
Once you are accepted, there will be many channels that open up to you, however there are also some channels that are only open to members who have bought a membership, and currently the third period membership is open and can be bought through YES24 until February 21st at 11:59 PM KST. You can access the notice here, but please note you can only resubscribe if you had previously bought the second period membership.

From now on, if we want peace now.
Please spread this. I'm tired. So I talked to Fluff about the deal right now if she wanted peace, she agrees. But there is this condition. Importantly, you guys have to leave her out and stop making assumptions too much on her. If you want her to change, leave her be. Or just ignore or leave her alone. I'll be the one to ask Trisha if there are any more cases of Fluff interacting with her. I can already tell Fluff seems new to this, but we'll keep an eye on her, but not a conversation, argument or witch-hunt FROM NOW ON. Or else you'll be part of the problem if you don't follow this step for her own good, especially for Trisha's sakes. She promised me now that she'll never talk to her or even mention Trisha in any of her accounts ever again. The reason why she has that petty username is to give people a hint or a warning, yet none of you.. even listened... Also @agentrose, you can leave her alone now. If you don't follow, I'll have to fucking message you and put you on the list. Sorry if this sounds harsh but I am showing how much this drama pisses me off more than you do if you keep bothering two or more people and making it worse for the suspect to change for the better. I don't have to be in her shoes, because I have already been in to that kind of drama when I was 15 years old but worse and different, but I left that account dead and moved on here on this website and on Twitter. And it was best for me to redeem myself away from that environment, and it worked yet I still remember that bullshit I have done. Only a few have forgiven me and the rest don't really have to. So I am suggesting the same thing for Fluff if she really wants some peace and quiet for a change. And I want things to be fair and square as they need and we all need. You don't have to forgive for her dick moves, but you can just let her go and wait for the recovery process after that. It's that simple. So please.... promise me, for all of you, let me take an eye on her unless things go south from here. And I don't like lies.

Fighting Fire With Fire (Reid Fic)
Summary: Reader must lower her pride after a date goes wrong and the only one who can rescue her is her mortal enemy - Spencer Reid.
A/N: This was a beast of a fic to write. Itâs been in my WIP since September, and I managed to go from 11 pages to 22 pages in three days. It is now my longest fic thus far. I am insanely fucking proud of it and I hope it does well. Category: Angst Pairing: Fem!Reader x Spencer Reid Content Warning: allusions to âcatfishing,â allusions to abduction, dub-con to taking provocative photos, alcohol, mentions of bruises, jealousy, carrying hug which implies weight of Reader (lmk if I missed anything) Word Count: 11.7k
â§ïœ„ïŸ: *â§ïœ„ïŸ:*
I tried to play nice; I really did, but there was no getting through to him. Everyday started and ended with us fighting fire with fire.
Maybe the reason the two of you butt heads so often is because of how similar you are.
Thatâs what the team would say when Spencer and I got into one of our daily (sometimes hourly) arguments.Â
They constantly encouraged us to get to know each other so that weâd finally see the likeness, and until recently, I wasnât opposed to the idea. I was willing to do whatever it took to get him to like me. However, as previously mentioned, my willingness quickly dissipated in light of recent events.Â
Voluntarily spending more time than necessary with him would be a recipe for disaster no doubt.Â
Somehow, in a matter of a month, Reid decided that he simply did not enjoy my presence, which was the nice way of putting it.Â
To be more crass, he loathed me to no end.
Initially, I was operating under the assumption that he wasnât fond of change, and with me joining the BAU, the change was too much too fast for him, but after four weeks, his attitude toward me never deviated. Yet again, I made another excuse for him, arguing to myself that people are allowed to not like me. I could respect that, but where he lost my respect was how he made a conscious effort to remind me of how much he despised me. Even when I was at my nicest, he still treated me like a scelerate.Â
If there was a prize for gaining a mortal enemy in the shortest amount of time, I guess I already won that without even trying. He hated me with a burning passion, for reasons unbeknownst to me, despite the fact that all Iâd ever try to do was be his friend.Â
For far too long, I kept denying the part of me that knew making peace with him outside of work wouldnât go well and itâd simply go down in history as another failed attempt of mine to form a bond with him, so it was at this point that I decided to face the facts.Â
He didnât make it easy for me, either. It was hard having to be kind to someone that was only ever out to get me.Â
He would constantly correct me but only after I said something incorrectly, just so he could prove me wrong.Â
âIf each police officer patrols a street, weâll be able to cover the entire comfort zone.â
âActually, weâd need three more officers if we want to cover the entire comfort zone. Thereâs still 2.347 miles that are unaccounted for.â
I never understood why he couldnât just say his piece before me so that I didnât look like an idiot, but I suppose that was the point.Â
And he had this infuriating, unwarranted habit of judging my taste in cinema and literature. Anytime I told Emily or Derek about a movie I saw or told Rossi about a book I read, he felt compelled to share his antagonistic opinions as if I asked for them in the first place. Sometimes even spoiling the endings for me!
âRossi, I just started reading Doctor Sleep!â I was so eager to tell Rossi that, so much so that Iâd become blind to one dark cloudâs own eagerness to ruin the fun.Â
âThe hotel burns to the ground, but the ghosts donât die with it.âÂ
He said it with such monotony and nonchalance, not even bothering to look up from his own book to watch my reaction to his menacing act. He just didnât care!
The list of reasons not to like him truly did go on and on, so it was almost insulting how people would compare the two of us.Â
Theyâd bring up the congruence in intelligence, the same affinity for reading, and closeness in age, but it only made me madder. The last person I wanted to resemble was Reid, except today, I gained another glaring similarity to him.
âLook at you two. Did you plan your outfits or something?â Emily playfully pointed out after I walked into the conference room.Â
I eyed the doctor sipping at his cup of coffee who swiveled around in his chair to see what everyone else was seeing. Just from a short glance, I spotted his navy blue button-up with white polka dots that was nearly identical to the color and print of my dress.
âWell, looks like one of us has to go home and change.â His lips grew into a mischievous smirk behind the rim of his mug.Â
Was that a joke? Did Spencer Reid make jokes now?
âHa ha. Very funny.â I facetiously remarked, taking the only open seat at the table which was next to the jokester himself.Â
âIâm kidding. You look really nice today.â He alleged without a hint of irony. He was complimenting me now, too? It was so unfamiliar that it felt like uncharted territory, possibly even a trap.
âWhy? Because Iâm dressed like you?â I wasnât going to fall for his words now, maybe the version of me who would do anything to gain his approval would have. She wouldâve smiled and said âthank you,â but this me was going to challenge him if that was the last thing I ever did. âBit of a narcissist are we, Dr. Reid?âÂ
âMmm maybe,â He wagered, tilting his head from side to side as if to contemplate the possibility. âOr maybe I just really think you look nice.âÂ
Without even thinking, my heart skipped a beat. I was utterly repulsed by how I let his words have any effect over me. I couldnât believe that heâd actually managed to fluster me with mediocre flattery.Â
It felt like years that I had to sit next to Reid at the round table before Hotch dismissed the team for the flight.
30 minutes later, and we were on the jet. Iâd taken one of the seats at the table opposite Derek and Emily, with Spencer beside me.Â
Little things like this I could handle, but I knew it wouldnât be long before he started bothering me. Morgan was listening to music and Emily was turned around in her seat, facing the back to talk to Rossi. Reid was playing himself in chess, and it took all of my self-control to not be a total asshole and knock the board and its pieces over and into the aisle. Luckily, I had a good enough distraction.Â
Grant: can you ft tonight?
Me: weâll see. i might have to work overtime.Â
For the months that I had been talking to Grant, I was deliberately ambiguous about my job because I wasnât exactly keen on telling him that I worked for the FBI and that I might not be able to FaceTime him since I was in the process of investigating a series of homicides. Thatâd surely scare him away and I was never one to flaunt my government job anyway.
Grant: you look stunning today
Me: you havenât even seen me todayÂ
Grant: donât need to.Â
Grant: youâll always be stunning to me.Â
âWho keeps texting you?âÂ
I looked up from my screen to see Reid fixated on his game but still engaged in my business.Â
âNo one,â I harshly replied, making a conscious decision to turn my phone on vibrate so he wouldnât hear the chime of my text notifications. Â
With one nimble side glance, Reid eyed my screen. I nudged him away with extra force.
âNosy much?!âÂ
This stunned him. He wasnât used to my coldness, he probably expected me to smile in a chagrined manner and not confront it - as I would have done - but now I was fighting back, and if I didnât know any better, Iâd say he liked it.Â
I knew he could read fast, but how he managed to look at my phone so quickly it was like he never even moved his eyes - I didnât know. Somehow, though, he managed to capture Grantâs entire username, and I didnât doubt that he caught my entire conversation with him, too.
âWhoâs Grant?â The name rolled off his tongue like he was insulted to even be saying it.Â
âNo one.âÂ
He didnât respond soon after I said this, which I misinterpreted as a little victory for me since I almost believed he was going to drop the subject, but in true Spencer Know It All Reid fashion, he just kept going.Â
ââYou look stunning today B-T-W. You havenât even seen me today. Donât need to. Youâll always be stunning to me.â Doesnât really sound like a âno oneâ to me.â His recitation of my entire PRIVATE conversation with Grant embarrassed me.Â
Did I forget to add his eidetic memory and speed-reading ability to the list of reasons not to like him?
âShut up!â I nudged him, this time using much more force than the last. I was becoming more and more inclined to push over his ridiculous chess game so that heâd finally take me seriously.Â
âOh, really clever by the way. Vaguely insinuating that you âmight not be able to call him because youâre working overtimeâ just so you donât have to disclose the true nature of your job.â Spencerâs sarcasm was thick.
âAre you just jealous because the only date youâve been on was a fake one with a serial killer and not even your actual girlfriend while she was alive?â My reference to Cat and Maeve caught the attention of the entire jet.Â
Each member mentally rolled their eyes thinking âHere we go again.â And if that wasnât their reaction, they were certainly cringing at the fight that was ensuing.Â
Things had been suspiciously good between the two of us today so it was about time we argued. We were due for our daily quarrel.
âOh, thatâs right! The only girls who like you are victims in our cases.â Now this comment was referring to Lila and Austin. (I had Penelope to thank for filling me in on all of Reidâs âentanglementsâ after I was first reassigned).
âReally? You wanna go there?â He sassed back, diverting his attention away fully from his chess game now. âDo you know how many people get âcatfishedâ when using online dating websites? Or the statistics on how many people are raped, assaulted, or murdered by said âcatfishâ?âÂ
âIâm not stupid, Reid. He and I have been talking for months. Weâve been on calls and Facetime before, too. Weâve just never met in person. Sound familiar?âÂ
âWhat Maeve and I had is not at all comparable to what you and this âguyâ have. And just because youâve seen his face before doesnât mean heâs not a serial killer or operating under an alias.âÂ
I had to scoff. Who was he to label our relationship valid or not?
âWhatâs it to you anyway? We all know youâd be ecstatic if this guy turned out to be a serial killer or catfish. Youâd get to rub it in my face and say âI told you so.ââÂ
This touched a nerve. He hated it when I attacked his nice-guy facade.Â
âIs it so hard to believe Iâm actually concerned for your wellbeing?â
âYes, actually.â
âFine. If you think I donât care about you, then donât come crying to me when you realize heâs not the guy you think he is.â
âOh, trust me, I wonât! Itâs not like youâd be able to protect me anyway, Pretty Boy.â I sneered, using Morganâs nickname for him as an insult got to him, and I could see it in the way his jaw clenched and his nostrils flared.Â
Hotch had to interject now. âAlright, (y/l/n), Reid, thatâs enough. We need to focus on whatâs actually important.âÂ
I settled back down in my seat, facing forward and avoiding eye contact with Reid.Â
âHave fun on your date,â He muttered under his breath. âHope you survive it.â
Bastard.
For the rest of the case, I was on edge. Deliberately avoiding him was a much harder task than one might think. I had to wait at least ten minutes for my coffee, so I wouldnât be at the machine when he was there, and if I had to guess, he probably took longer just to make me wait in agitation. I had to awkwardly squeeze into a new spot beside Rossi and Hotch when we were delivering the profile. I had to ask not to travel in the same SUV as him.Â
And this exhausting routine went on for days. In fact, Iâd managed to almost go the entire case without interacting with him. That was until Hotch sent us both in the field to apprehend the unsub.Â
âAre you sure?â I asked with clear reluctance.Â
âAre you questioning me?â Hotch replied sternly.Â
âNo, sir.âÂ
I was already on thin ice being the new recruit, so I knew better than to question any of Hotchâs orders. And as miserable as working with Reid was, I figured heâd at least ease up on the hostility when we needed to be professional. Evidently though, even in the field, he wasnât willing to work together with me.Â
It was a quick decision, not careless in the least, however. The unsub had locked himself in his warehouse and refused to leave unless we were brave enough to drag him out of there ourselves. The ultimatum he gave specified that only one of us could do it and we both agreed that I should go in, seeing as heâd underestimate my strength as a woman, and Iâd have the upperhand when I inevitably apprehended him.Â
However, he also explicitly told us that I couldnât come in with a gun - it had to be an even playing field.Â
âYou are not going in without a gun,â Reid ordered.Â
âWe donât have time to argue about this - I have a spare on me, okay? There are three hostages in there, two of which are children.â Without giving him a chance to respond, I handed him my gun and holster.
Had I let him waste a single second more of my time, we wouldnât have been able to save the three hostages and successfully arrest the unsub. I saw this as a victory and I was almost willing to celebrate it with him, but it wasnât long before he let our enmity tear us apart again.Â
When we got back to the precinct, I went to the locker room to change, then suddenly, Hotch came in.Â
âIâve been informed that you went in unarmed against a fellow agentâs orders. This matter will be discussed in my office when we get back. I should warn you, (y/n), you do not want to make this mistake again.â Hotch left me with those foreboding words, and I knew, I knew immediately that Reid was to blame for this.
If I took a look in the mirror of my locker, I wouldnât have been surprised if I saw that my face was turning a bright shade of red. I was fuming - bursting at the seams from the anger building within me that was desperately fighting to escape. I could imagine myself as a cartoon character with steam blowing out either of my ears. I was about to go on a rampage, and no one - absolutely no one - could stop me.Â
The last straw was hearing him come in. This was my opportunity to unleash what was already boiling.Â
âWhat the hell, Reid? â(y/n) went in unarmed.â Seriously?!â I undid the velcro on my vest so hastily out of my blind rage that the spiky side of the velcro strip nearly sliced my finger. âAre you trying to get me fired?âÂ
âIf thatâs what it takes to make you realize how stupid of a choice that was, then yes, I do.â He was so calm and collected in his inflection that it angered me all the more.Â
âWhat are you even talking about? What âstupid choiceâ? You knew I had a second gun on me. And even if I didnât carry it, I still wouldâve had my vest on. I wasnât going in unarmed or unprotected, so why would you tell Hotch that?âÂ
âIn the time it would take you to assess the danger, react, and then reach for the gun at your ankle, the unsub wouldâve been able to shoot you twice - if not more. Thatâs going in unprepared, which is going in unarmed.â
I scoffed in disbelief that he was actually reprimanding me. âAre you kidding? This is all based on a technicality? Did your eidetic memory somehow forget about what happened with Maeve? Because my memory didnât. I know for a fact that you went into that warehouse without a vest or a weapon. And unlike you, I had a spare and my vest. AND I actually apprehended the unsub. Did you stop Diane?â Â
This crossed a line and I knew it, but it was too late to take it back, and clearly, it was much too late to repair any relationship I had with him. We were far beyond the point of no return.Â
He was so mad that he didnât even answer me. The only response I could gauge was from his body language, which by the looks of it, all the signs of anger were plain on his face. He clenched his jaw so hard I could hear his teeth grind. Even his nostrils flared so primitively. His eyes narrowed down at me with a glare that said, âIâm the predator and youâre the prey.â
âYeah, exactly.â I spat when he stayed silent.Â
I turned around, starting towards the exit, but I was too furious to stop there, so I spun around and unleashed the remainder of my wrath that had been dying to come out.Â
âLook, I get it. Iâm the new kid around here, and it sucks when someone new comes in and changes up the team dynamic, but any mistake I make, or any mistake Hotch thinks I make, could send me packing. Youâve been working in this unit for years, and even if Hotch questions your choices, he wonât reassign you. He wonât even threaten it. Heâs willing to overlook your mistakes because he knows that what you have to contribute to the team is too vital to let go, but I havenât even had my chance to show him what I have to offer. So when I do make a mistake, there is nothing for me to fall back on, nothing to redeem me, and no safety net, but you? You have years of experience on your back to break your fall. So donât you dare act like youâre doing me a favor by reporting my âmistakeâ to Hotch. You might be costing me my dream job, and if you think that makes us friends - think again.âÂ
I stormed out of the locker room seeing red.Â
This war was far from over.Â
_ _ _
âYouâre clenching your fists again,â Emily said under her breath. I was grateful that she said it in a hushed tone, otherwise she mightâve revealed my lingering anger to the whole jet, which wouldnât have been good.Â
I immediately unclenched them, opening up my hands to reveal small, dark C shaped imprints on my palms from where my nails had dug into them.Â
I shouldâve expected that she wouldâve learned at least one of my tells by now. I did have many after all. Cheek biting, fist-clenching, leg bouncing.Â
âSomething bothering you?â She probed quietly.Â
She set her book down to give her undivided attention to this conversation. That was enough to tell me that an excuse like, âNothing, Iâm fine,â would not suffice. She wouldnât be satisfied until I told her the truth, which I surely did not want to tell. So I settled for a half-truth.
âHotch wants to talk when we get back.âÂ
From my peripherals, I saw her knit her brows together in confusion. âIs . . . is that it?â
âMhm.â I lied.Â
âBut thatâs not enough to warrant the fist clenching. Cheek biting - sure - you do it when youâre anxious, but not fist-clenching. You only do that when youâre angry about something.âÂ
âOh, so you have figured out all my tells,â I smirked.
âPfft, I figured them all out the first week you got here, but I wonât tell you the rest, otherwise you might try and hide them from me,â She joked.Â
I shook my head playfully. âYeah, youâre right. Iâm just worked up about something - itâs nothing you need to worry about though.â Habitually, my eyes looked right up in his direction. I caught a glimpse of him sprawled against the couch, sleeping. He was lucky I wasnât ranting about the little stunt he pulled earlier to Emily. He should be thankful that I was even trying to protect his reputation to her at all.Â
âI get it if you donât want to talk about it, but it does help. Take it from me, someone who really only trusts myself, you shouldnât hide what you feel.âÂ
What you feel.Â
I clung onto those words.Â
What was I really feeling?Â
Was I upset that instead of receiving praise for the arrest I made, I was scolded like a child? Was I angry that Hotch believed what Reid had to say about my âproblematic behaviorâ instead of believing in me?Â
Or did I feel betrayed that despite my best efforts to build a bridge, Reid was tearing it apart brick by brick? Burning it to pieces with the fire of his rage?
âThanks.â I bleakly said to Emily. I wouldâve told her the truth, but it didnât feel necessary at that moment. If anything, it just wouldâve reflected badly on me.Â
Truthfully, she was the closest thing I had to a friend in the BAU, and if I wanted a permanent spot here, I needed to make more of them - and fast.Â
âHey, (y/n), weâre all going down to OâKeefs tonight to celebrate. You wanna join us?â Morgan asked, walking up the aisle and crouching down beside my seat to talk to me.Â
âOh, I wish I could, but I have to talk with Hotch when we get back,â I explained, smiling politely.Â
âWe can postpone the meeting till first thing Monday morning. I need to go home and be with Jack, anyway,â Hotch added.Â
I didnât realize he could hear me from where he was sitting, which made me all the more nervous that he mightâve overheard the entire conversation between me and Emily earlier.Â
âLooks like Iâm free,â I looked back at Morgan. âDoes the offer still stand?â
âAnything for you, sweet cheeks.â He winked.Â
Judging from the lightness of the atmosphere, everyone, except maybe Hotch and Rossi, would be celebrating at OâKeefs - including Spencer.Â
I think I mightâve actually preferred to be scolded by Hotch tonight, instead of being silently glared at by Spencer, but it was already too late to revoke my confirmation of presence.Â
Because, if Hotch could hear me from where he was sitting, then Spencer could, too.Â
He already heard I was coming, and there was no way I was backing down.
_ _ _Â
In spite of the fact that I could barely hear myself think over the loud chatter and blasting music, I could still feel the rage radiating off of Spencer. You would think with how long his nap was on the jet, he wouldnât be so cranky, but I guess he just couldnât sleep off his disdain for me after our minor altercation.Â
I wondered if the team could see it, too. The way he was burning a hole into me with his fiery stare. The tension was palpable, as it has always been, but remember - Iâm not the one who wanted it that way.Â
He started this. I was only making the feeling mutual.Â
âSo what about you, (y/n)? Are you seeing anyone?âÂ
I tried to hide my growing smirk behind the rim of my beer, but I knew I couldnât hide much from them. Of course, right across from me, Spencer was glaring at me expectantly, waiting for the answer he already knew.Â
âOooh, look at her - sheâs blushing! Spill.â Penelope ordered, beating her palm on the table so enthusiastically it shook all the drinks on it. Â
âWell, thereâs this one guy Iâve been seeing for a while,â The second I started speaking, I noticed Spencer rolling his eyes. I figured his apprehension was the only response of its kind that I would receive, but I was very mistaken.Â
âHow did you two meet?â Penelope giddily asked, nearly jumping up and down in her seat.Â
âA dating app, actually.âÂ
The table went completely silent, and I immediately felt my stomach drop. It was as if Iâd just said something very wrong. With just a quick glance in front of me, Spencer was basking in this.Â
What a dick.
Emily hesitated to ask. â...Have you two met in person before?âÂ
Now it was my turn to hesitate to speak. âNo, not yet.âÂ
I took another sip of my drink even though I wasnât thirsty. I just wanted to hide any part of my face I could to shield myself from the five sets of eyes burning holes into me now, rather than just the one. Trying to make matters better, I spoke all too quickly, nearly sputtering on my beer. âIâm completely safe, though. Nothing sketchyâs going on, I promise.âÂ
âOf course,â JJ agreed. âWe totally trust you,â neglecting to attach the cliche, âItâs him we donât trust.â But if she had, it wouldâve spoken everyoneâs bubble thoughts right about now.Â
âJust be careful, mama.â Derekâs response felt the most sincere, and I honestly believed he was happy for me, but it didnât change how much their judgement initially stung.Â
For the rest of the night, I didnât talk. No one noticed.Â
Except maybe the last person I wanted to notice.Â
I quietly slipped away somewhere in the night when the conversation was at its highest precisely so they wouldnât question where I was going or if I was okay. If they had asked, the truthful answer to the former wouldâve been âjust outside to get some airâ and the latter âno.â
The cool breeze drifted through the door like rising fog and for the briefest moment in time, I felt suspended in the space around me - Iâd finally caught my breath. That feeling wouldnât last long, though.Â
Iâd intentionally gone outside to compose myself until I came back a person who wasnât on the verge of tears, but apparently, trying to pull myself only resulted in my falling apart. A ball of yarn unraveling is the closest comparison I can draw to what I mustâve looked like, crying quietly on the street.
âI figured Iâd find you here.âÂ
It was the mere sound of someoneâs voice that shocked me, but it was the person whose voice it was that led to the frustration that followed.Â
âWhat are you doing here? Shouldnât you be inside talking to the team of people who also agree with you about Grant?âÂ
He was too much of a nuisance to warrant exchanging eye contact with so I simply stared forward as I spoke and wiped the tears away that were still pooling on my lower lash line. I hoped he hadnât actually seen me crying, but from what I could tell, he was probably standing there long before he said something. And if he was truly looking at me as deeply as it felt like right now, then heâd have noticed my bloodshot eyes, flushed cheeks, and unending sniffling.Â
âIs that why you disappeared back there? Because youâre upset they didnât exactly like the idea of your relationship?â The pain in the ass really tried, he really tried to get me to look at him by facing me and making these gestures with his hands that shouldâve gotten my attention, but instead, I stayed put leaning against the wall, keeping my line of sight straight ahead.Â
â(Y/n), they werenât insulting you or judging you -â
âThen why did it feel like it?â For the first time since heâd joined me, Iâd looked at him. I didnât even mean to and I had every intention of denying him that privilege for the entire duration of our conversation, but as soon as I asked him my question, we locked eyes, and I saw it written all over his face.Â
He felt sorry for me.Â
Now, he could clearly make out how distraught I was from this unobstructed view of my face that was kindled by the dim, flickering yellow glow of the streetlight beside us. And he kept staring, looking into my eyes to read me just as easily and just as quickly as he read a book.Â
âAll we want is for you to be safe,â His voice crackled momentarily, and it actually touched some part of me for how genuine it sounded. âWe werenât trying to judge you or to insult you, and Iâm sorry if it felt that way, but if we want your safety, and you tell us about something that could be potentially harmful, then of course weâre going to be apprehensive about it. Thatâs how people that care about you should react.â
âSo are you saying that I donât care about myself because Iâm engaging in something risky?â Isnât that the most ironic statement of this year? The definition of our job was risky, and even if this wasnât the safest relationship on the planet, it was nothing like what we put ourselves through everyday being in the field.Â
âNo, thatâs not what Iâm saying -â
âSo what are you saying?â I dared. He shook his head and sighed like he was about to give up, but I needed an answer. âNo, please, do continue. Finish what you were gonna say. Since you apparently know everything, 187. Please go ahead - tell me what you think I should do.âÂ
Tell me what you really came out here to say, I ordered him with my eyes.
âI think I respect you more than you respect yourself, and thatâs really saying something. Because if you actually liked yourself as much as I do, then you would realize that subjecting yourself to this nonsensicality of a long-distance relationship is not only dangerous - but insulting to your worth, too. You deserve more than that, (y/n).â He couldnât have been clearer when he murmured a low and firm, âMuch more.âÂ
The world was spinning on its axis too fast for me to process anything he said before snapping back at him. âSo what exactly is it you want me to do?â
With utmost clarity in both annunciation and intention, he told me, âBreak up with him.âÂ
Not a shadow of a doubt in his words.Â
Then, like the phantom of the opera himself, he vanished back into the bar, but even if he had stayed, I wouldnât have had anything to say to him. I was simply rendered speechless.
Circling back to my previous argument, I questioned once more why was it any of his business anyway? I was allowed to do as I pleased and I most certainly did not have to listen to him. And I didnât.Â
But I shouldâve.Â

My Monday morning meeting with Hotch wasnât nearly as fire and brimstone as I thought it would be. It did however feel like the equivalent to an âIâm disappointed in youâ parent speech. In some ways, I related to the average teen who was grounded. Except instead of my phone being taken away, it was my freedom. From now on, I could only follow executive orders that had been given to me. At least for the time being.Â
It was clear that, deep down, some part of Hotch knew what Iâd done was the right call, but he couldnât give me any favors. Not until they were deserved on my end.Â
Walking onto the jet after our meeting, however, felt more juvenile than the punishment itself. I was a kid again, re-entering my classroom after using the restroom, only to have all eyes on me as I came through the door.
As per usual, the only empty chair was next to Reid. Thereâd been too many instances of this happening to think it was just a coincidence. At this point, I had to assume it was by design. Whose design however? That I didnât know.
âHello, trouble,â He sang when I took my seat.Â
I could only assume that this new nickname was based on what took place in Hotchâs office - thanks to him, need I remind you - but I didnât care to know the origin because that would require talking to him, and for several reasons, that was the last thing I wanted to do. The first of which was what happened less than three days ago. An event we both hadnât mentioned yet, and I hoped we never would.Â
I took every preventative measure in the book. I changed seats with JJ. I moved to the couch. I even started reading in the little hallway between the kitchenette and bathroom of the jet to avoid sitting beside him, but against all my best efforts, he always found a way to bug me. When thereâs a will, thereâs a way. After exhausting any real reason he had to talk to me, he had to get creative.Â
âYouâve been on that same page for four minutes and twenty-seven seconds.â I heard him say when he walked up to the kitchen to reach for the pot of coffee. Almost expecting Iâd ask him what he meant, he added the explanation casually. âIt never takes you more than three minutes and twelve seconds to move onto the next page. So either youâre not understanding the material or youâre not actually reading.â
It was utterly hilarious of him to imply that either of those things were definitely the answer. âWhat if Iâm just taking my time reading this page, genius? Ever thought of that?âÂ
His eyes turned into slits as he leaned in closer to examine me. âYouâre blinking rate just increased, too.â
âStop!â I screeched childishly, pushing him away by his shoulders in an attempt to get him off my back, but he was far from off my back. No, he was right against it. More specifically, his hand was on the small of it.Â
Leaning in so close that his lips were practically pressing on the shell of my ear, he whispered, âCome find me when youâre ready to tell me the truth.â
He didnât need to know his words or actions had any sort of effect on me, so I kept the most stoic facial expression on, and I didnât say a single thing back. He turned back around to leave with the hand on my back being the last thing to go. His lingering touch caused a shiver to run down my spine while paradoxically burning my body from the friction.Â
I was disgusted with myself for having let him elicit any sort of reaction from me, even if he wasnât aware of it.Â
âYeah ... well, d-donât expect that to be anytime soon,â was my poor attempt at a retort to shut him up.
âWhatever you say, trouble.âÂ
_Â _ _Â
Personal space can be a wonderful thing. Much less so when itâs invaded, however.Â
After what felt like the longest flight ever, all I wanted was to take a shower and go to bed. My wishes were granted when I was able to wash off the stress and exhaustion and slip into a blush pink satin pajama set Grant sent me that Iâd been meaning to wear. The plunging neck of the tank top was lined with lace and adorned with the tiniest little bow at the center. To match the shirt, the hem of the shorts were lined with lace that trailed up the small triangular slits on the side of the shorts, where at the vertex of them was the same little bow detail. For such a pure and innocent color as baby pink, youâd think itâd be somewhat less revealing. The longer I started at myself in the mirror while wearing it, the more aware Iâd become of the intentions behind why Grant had sent it.Â
How cute, I thought, rolling my eyes.
Gifts should always be appreciated, if for no other reason than the effort put into it, but this just felt slimy. There was obviously no valiant romantic intent behind the negligee, which spoiled the delight of receiving something out of the blue from him. Whatâs worse was that I wasnât even sure how to thank him for something like this.Â
Me: thank you for the pajamas. theyâre so cute!
Lying was easier over text message, in case you were wondering what the perks of a long distance relationship were.Â
Grant: good, Iâm glad you like them. are you wearing them right now?Â
But sometimes, when you should lie, you donât. And you regret it later on - take it from me.Â
Me: yeah, theyâre super comfy
Grant: great! i wanna see them on! take a picÂ
As if to compensate for the indisputable hatred I had for this lingerie and what it stood for in our relationship, I did the only thing I could think that would make him think I really liked them. That I felt good in them.Â
I took pictures - not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill, Yelp review pictures, though - provocative ones.Â
In the same breath I went to take them, though, Spencerâs words rang through my head.Â
You deserve more than that. Much more.Â
Shaking off the thought of Spencer, I decided against what the little voice in my head that sounded too similar to his wouldâve said.Â
To add to the illusion, I situated myself within the hotel sheets and used the front camera to capture my chest that was very much on display in this top. In the middle of rolling around the bed, trying to find the angles that wouldnât show my face of dejection, the door opened.Â
Instantaneously, I clawed at the sheets until they wrapped around me like a towel. I was ashamed to admit they provided more coverage than these âpajamasâ did.
My shriek of shock mustâve sounded familiar to the stranger intruding on me because no sooner did I scream than they questioned, â(Y/n)? What are you doing here?â
Oh, youâve got to be fucking kidding me.Â
âSpencer, what the hell are you doing in here?â I grumbled, struggling to maintain a tight enough grip on the sheets that would keep them from falling and unveiling a sight I desperately did not want him to see.Â
âI asked you first.âÂ
Boy, if you only knew how badly I wanted to slap that smirk right off his face. âThis is my hotel room obviously. Your turn.âÂ
Returning just the same tone, inflection, and vocals, he imitated me. âThis is my hotel room obviously.â Like one of those magic tricks heâd show Henry or Jack, he miraculously flashed a room key between his index and middle finger that wasnât there before.Â
âNo, thatâs impossible.â
âI opened the door, didnât I?â That damn smirk was still there when he asked this. Maybe, just maybe, if it hadnât been so condescending, I wouldâve thought his sarcasm was ... attractive. Disgusting, I know.Â
âWell, if you actually plan on staying here, then youâre sleeping on the floor or the couch, got it?â
My question went unanswered until I turned around to follow where heâd traveled in the time that I spent pondering how this happened. Now perched at the window, sitting on the arm of the chair in a way that chairs werenât meant to be sat on, he continued to stare silently at me.Â
âWhat? What is it?â I urged.Â
âWhatâs going on with the âŠâ He made a side to side sweeping motion with his key card. âBed sheets?âÂ
Consciously, I shimmied the fabric further up my body. Seeing as there was virtually no way to escape an honest answer, I confessed. âIf you must know ... Iâm wearing p-pajamas.â My own body was rejecting the shameful admission causing the word to stumble out of my mouth.Â
He didnât need to know any more than that to gather what kind of garments they were. He already figured it out.
âDid Grant give them to you?â
I almost rolled my eyes at the implication. âWhat makes you say that?âÂ
âBecause I know you,â He punctuated every word perfectly. âAnd I know that you wear big shirts and sweatpants to bed because you donât see the point of spending money on clothes that are only made for you to sleep in - especially if theyâre clothes that make you uncomfortable like these ones clearly do.âÂ
Although, I greatly despised the fact that there was even a little bit of a chance that I mightâve agreed with him, I still defended Grant. âIt was a thoughtful gesture.â
âThoughtful, right,â He scoffed. âAnd which head was he thinking with?âÂ
I was baffled he had the gall to say such an innuendo. âSpencer!â
How dare he? So what if Grant bought me something provocative because he was physically attracted to me? At least someone was.Â
Despite the ferocity plain on his face, he chose not to pursue this conversation. Visibly biting back on words he knew would hurt me, Spencer managed to sound remarkably genuine when he promised me, âI wonât look if you donât want me to.âÂ
I want you to, was my very first thought. Oh, God, thatâs so fucked up, was my second.Â
He underlined his sincerity by turning fully around until he was facing the window. âBut we should probably put the sheets back on the bed if you plan on sleeping on it.â
He was so patient as he waited for me to remove the cloth from my body. It almost made me feel guilty. He didnât grumble or gripe, nor did he pressure me to do it at all. So by rights, there shouldâve been no reason for me to take so long to let the barrier fall - he wasnât looking at me. But I was just so goddamn embarrassed.Â
This wasnât me, and even he knew that.Â
âYou can turn around now,â I mumbled quietly once my safety net of a bedsheet had abandoned me. My arms were crossed over my chest and my thighs were pressed so tightly against each other as if to limit the surface area that Spencer could scrutinize.Â
That never came.Â
He did look, I could tell that much. But it wasnât a look Iâd ever seen before. It wasnât rage or annoyance or pity. It was a look of lust.Â
A look that made me positively weak in the knees. A look far more sensual than even my racy garments.Â
âIâll just sleep in Morganâs room tonight, okay?â He offered once he finally broke out of his incapacitation. Grabbing the two opposite corners of the sheets that I was holding, it was a team effort as we arranged the covers where they belonged. It was probably the longest period of time weâd ever worked together without fighting or talking at all for that matter..
Not a single word was exchanged between us while Spencer gathered his things to leave for Derekâs. The room started to feel dangerously empty in the stillness.Â
When he slipped past me to make his way out, I caught his upper arm, successfully pulling him back around.
I couldâve been sweet, I shouldâve. But that wasnât our thing. So I settled for what came naturally to us and what would set off the least amount of red flags - I didnât play nice. âAs long as you promise not to hog the entire bed with your behemoth body, we can sleep together -â Catching the words as soon as they came out and what they couldâve implied, I began backtracking. âSleep in the same bed. Sleep as in rest. Not sleep as in ⊠anything else.âÂ
Then, in one of those rare moments- he laughed. He actually laughed. Like a real, hearty, sudden laugh. âI know what you meant, (y/n).âÂ
Iâll never forget the smile that followed the worldâs greatest laugh either.Â
Oh, God, Iâm so fucked up.Â

Spencerâs POV
Domesticated animals are smarter than we give them credit for. Studies have shown that pets can actually sense time; They know when itâs time for their owner to leave for the day and when theyâll be coming home, too.Â
Animals arenât dumb - and neither was I.Â
Like a dog sniffing out their ownerâs imminent absence in the home, I could tell (y/n) was leaving the hotel room for the night. If her current state wasnât convincing enough, then her behavior throughout the entire day supported that theory just as well.Â
Whether it was her phone, the clock on the wall, or her watch, she was evidently keeping a close eye on the time. She did it so often, though, that you would think she would just use simple deductions to figure out what time it was by estimating the time it was when she last checked, but nope. She rarely let more than a minute go by without monitoring the clock.
My suspicions didnât end there. Whatâs more suggestive was the anxious fidgeting. She had her tells of anxiety - everyone does - but this was a level of stress Iâd never seen her exhibit before, not even in the field.Â
She kept cracking her knuckles, even when sheâd exhausting all the popping noises she could from them. Her leg-bobbing was another big tell, too. I tend to sit on tables rather than in the chairs at said table, allowing me to feel the earthquake occurring on the precinct floor. Her leg was bouncing up and down so vigorously it was practically shaking the room.Â
I wouldâve asked her what she was so impatient about, but I feared I already knew the answer.
Grant.
And if I never heard that name roll off her tongue again, it would be too soon.Â
That didnât mean I couldnât ask where she was going, though.
Pretending to read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I barely let my eyes venture far off the page when I loudly asked from the window seat, âSo where are you going tonight, trouble?âÂ
The faintest sound of a chuckle erupted in the bathroom, most likely from the nickname I hadnât let die yet.Â
âNunya,â was her ever-so mature answer.Â
I didnât want to give her the chance to say ânunya businessâ like I knew she would, so I quickly interjected with a monotone, âHow clever of you.â If she wanted to be a child about this, then so be it.Â
âLetâs see. You brought your good heels out of your suitcase, which you only wear on special occasions. And you put on a different perfume than the one you usually use, so Iâm assuming itâs new. ... If I didnât know any better, trouble, Iâd say youâre going on a date.âÂ
She peeked her head out of the bathroom doorway to say, âYouâre creepy, you know that?âÂ
Seeing the small portion of her face that was embellished with a smile wouldâve been enough if only I knew what dress she was hiding in behind that wall. I had yet to see that part of her ensemble, but if I had to guess, it would break my heart.Â
âJust saying,â I casually lied while clearing my throat.Â
âWell,â I heard her begin from within the bathroom. âNot that itâs any of your business, but Grant is meeting me tonight.âÂ
Kill me now.
âI thought Grant lived in D.C.â Not that that would change much if he was already here.Â
âYes, he does, but heâs driving all the way here to meet me. Seeee,â She drew out the word. âWould a serial killer do that?âÂ
I refrained from giving the obvious answer:Â Yes.Â
âWell, I hope you donât plan on bringing him back here. Otherwise, thatâd be terribly awkward, donât you think?â My allusion to the possibility that Grant would come back here to find me in her bed was borne from the intentions that were a complete contradiction to the words Iâd just spoken. It, in fact, wouldnât be terribly awkward. No, it would be fun. For me at least.Â
I would have loved to have seen the look on his face, and the worry on hers as she tried to explain who I was and why I had any right to be in (y/n)âs gravity.Â
The room went silent again while I stayed on the same page of my book and, unbeknownst to her, waited for her to enter the room. How long she was taking was starting to worry me, though.Â
âNeed any help in there?â I called out.
âNope,â She said through a strained voice that proved she was indeed struggling with something.Â
âReally?â I asked once more to give her another opportunity to lower her colossal pride. âCause it sounds like you need help.âÂ
âNope. Iâm good.â Liar.Â
I knew her too well. I counted down to the exact second when she finally scrambled to ask, âCan you help me zip up my dress?â
âYyyup.â Iâd already resigned to the fact that I would have to help her, bouncing happily off the bed when she finally admitted it and letting myself lose the page I was on as I tossed the book haphazardly behind me.Â
I was forced to join her in the bathroom for it was already hard for her to humble herself enough to ask me for help, so she certainly couldnât be expected to lower her pride again and walk out to a place more convenient for me.Â
The first thing I noticed was that it was a space clearly not made for two. It was so cramped that I ended up right against her in order to fit. The second thing I noticed was how she made no movements to distance herself. She was so close to me that I could actually see the little hairs on the back of her neck standing up from where my breath ghosted on the area. The sterile smell of hotel bathrooms had been replaced by the flowery, aromatic scent of her new perfume, and my heart broke all over again.Â
Using the back of my fingers, I cast a barely-there caress on her neck to stroke her hair out of the way to clear the path of the zipper. The little hairs on the back of her neck stood up again.Â
She liked that.
âSo do I get to know where youâre going?â I reached for the zipper on the small of her back. âFor safety purposes, of course.âÂ
âAww, you looking out for me, Dr. Reid?â She teased in a seductive tone while gathering her hair into a makeshift ponytail that for the shortest second recorded in time mightâve reminded me of a constantly recurring intrusive image.Â
âAlways, trouble.âÂ
The zipper fastened with absolutely no resistance all the way to the top. My eyes flashed to the mirror to catch her expression, which told me everything I needed to know.Â
What a pretty little liar. She didnât actually need my help.Â
Comprehending that the realization dawned on me, she gave me what she knew would shut me up. âWeâre going to The Rooftop at Lamontâs.âÂ
How effortlessly she slipped past me without a thank you or a glance in my direction served as a rude awakening.
âWell, you should take an umbrella with you. It looks like thereâs gonna be a storm tonight.â This was my small way of coming to terms with the reality of the situation.Â
âEh,â She waved my suggestion off with a dismissive hand. âWeâll be fine. Oh, and donât even think about stalking me!â She warned before exiting the room.
In the blink of an eye, she was gone - my peace of mind having left with her.Â
_ _ _Â
The amount of sleep you need varies for each person and is affected by several factors. However, for most adults, 7â9 hours per night is the ideal amount. And I was slowly reducing that optimal quantity, hour by hour, until there was none left.Â
I would continue to sacrifice my sleep so long as I was awake for her return. If sheâd asked why I was still up, I would lie. Though I wouldnât look half so pretty as she did when she lied.Â
Losing rest seemed like such a small price to pay to make sure I was fully alert in the event that an emergency happened, even if I would suffer the consequences in the morning. But hey - thatâs what caffeine is for, isnât it? To re-energize oneself after staying up to guarantee oneâs enemyâs safety.Â
Yeah, Iâm sure thatâs exactly why Kaldi invented coffee in 750 A.D.Â
Besides the thunderstorm, my mind also made great company for situations like these. Granted, the visions it would project kept me up for a reason - they were all so awful.Â
There was simply no projected reality where things would turn out alright.Â
If she had the time of her life on her date, she would come back to throw it in my face that Iâd been wrong, and her admiration for Grant would have deepened.Â
Or if he stood her up, sheâd be devastated, but instead of letting me console her, sheâd push me away as easily as she always did.
In a more neutral instance, perhaps she would admit it wasnât as great meeting him as she thought it would be and the relationship would fade out for innocent reasons. Even if that seemed like the most favorable circumstance, she would eventually grow to resent me for planting the seed of doubt in her head in the first place.
But nothing- nothing I could have imagined would be as treacherous as what actually happened.
At exactly 1:09 a.m, my phone started to ring. I canât explain to you what it was, but I just knew - it was her calling, and it wasnât even her number.
â(Y/n)? Is everything okay?âÂ
If she said something beforehand, I couldnât hear her because the storm was too loud and her voice was too quiet. âDid I wake you up?âÂ
I reassured her with a tone I didnât even recognize. âNo, no. I was awake. Why? Whatâs up?â The line went quiet again, forcing me to prompt her to speak in order to find out if she was still there on the call. â(Y/n)?â
âSpencer ...â She choked out a hoarse sob. âI need you. I need you to come get me, please.âÂ
My eyes clenched shut at the dreadful sound of her sorrow, and I jolted into action. After scrambling to gather the keys to her car that sheâd left behind, I fled the room faster than ever before.Â
âIâm on my way, (y/n). Stay right there. Youâre at The Rooftop at Lamontâs right?âÂ
The poor thing took the longest pause in history, either from shame or disorientation. âHe threw me in the back of his car and drove me all the way to D.C. I âŠâ Her breath caught on her dry throat again. âI, um, I managed to escape and now Iâve barricaded myself in a payphone booth. I havenât called the police yet. You were the first person I thought to call. I just, I just needed to hear your voice.â
My knuckles turned an unfamiliar shade of white when I gripped the steering wheel, picturing her caged up in a rectangular box, dialing my number instead of 911 just so she could hear my voice.
âEverything is gonna be okay. I promise you. My ETA is 1:28. Thatâs in 19 minutes. Are you okay being there for that long or do you want to find somewhere safer?â
I could no longer distinguish the difference between talking to her right now and talking to a victim in distress. I was speaking with the same tone and inflection but feeling a sharp pain in my chest that wasnât there before.Â
âI can stay here. Just ... donât hang up, okay?â The fact that the possibility of me abandoning her over the phone even crossed her mind was more than enough to get me to drive well over the speed limit.Â
The list of traffic infractions only grew from there because honestly? Screw my safety or anyone elseâs. Herâs was the only one that mattered. She was the priority.Â
She was my priority.Â
Throughout the entire call, I kept repeating, âYouâre gonna be okay. Youâre gonna be okay. Youâre gonna be okay.â Frankly, it was something we both needed to hear.Â
It was both the fastest and slowest 19 minutes of my life. Time no longer felt real when I finally found the payphone booth that boxed in my troublesome girl. No sooner did I drive up to the sidewalk than I ran out of the car to sprint the short distance to free her from her coop.
â(Y/n)!â I shouted, swinging the door open and throwing caution to the wind in the process. Immediately, she dropped the phone, not even bothering to replace it onto its receiver.Â
The pouring rain had stripped her of her dignity. Mascara ran down her face in pigmented streams of black. Her curled hair was dampened into strings. But worse of all, it hadnât washed away the darkening bruises on her skin.
âOh my god, Spencer!â She cried as she ran into my open arms.Â
Her body collided with mine in such a gentle manner that I had to wonder how that was possible at all or if it was a figment of my imagination. Was our collision actually that gentle or did it seem that way because of how good it felt to have her arms and legs latch around my entire torso, crossing and connecting somewhere in between?
With one arm under her thighs to hold her up, I pulled her impossibly closer to me by cradling the back of her head with the other hand.Â
Her small hands found their way into my hair, a new sensation I tried not to indulge in so as not to let my attention stray away from the little life I was holding in my arms.Â
She was so cold.Â
Shivering from my warm embrace, her teeth chattered as she whispered, âIâm so sorry, Spencer. You were right I shouldâve listened -â
âShh, itâs okay, (y/n),â I said with the hopes that I could make the pounding heart that was thumping against my shoulder settle down until it reached her standard heart rate of 67 beats per minute.Â
After a second of just holding her wordlessly, she spoke again.Â
âI donât wanna fight.â She surrendered so easily to me that I could hardly believe this was her at all.Â
âI donât wanna fight with you either.âÂ
That was entirely true. Fighting with her was the last thing on my mind. The first was getting her into my car.Â
It was easier that I imagined it would be, but then again, itâs easy to do things when youâre motivated in this way.Â
Before I loosened my hold on her to shut the passenger door, she squeezed me a little tighter, as if to be absolutely certain this was real and not some cruel dream.
âThank you,â She hummed into the crook of my neck. From where her shoulder was digging into my throat, I couldnât exactly respond verbally, so I settled for rubbing my hand up and down her back comfortingly.Â
âLetâs take you home,â I basically said to myself seeing as it was too quiet to be discernible.Â
âNo,â She shook her head rapidly. âTake me to your apartment.â
âWhat?â
âI donât want to go back to the hotel right now. I need to be somewhere I feel safe.â
My apartment is closer than the hotel, I reasoned, pretending it was the logic of it that made my heart swell and not the statement I would fixate on for the entire duration of the ride there.Â
I need to be somewhere I feel safe.Â
And thatâs wherever Iâm with you.

Readerâs POV
Porcelain wall tiles gleamed back at me, mocking my wretched misery. They were much prettier than me, but then again, anything else would be prettier than me right about now.
I certainly wasnât the belle of the ball in my bare naked state. The fact that I was sitting in a pool of my own washed off dried blood didnât help either.
I wouldâve looked away from the bright white walls, but where else were I to look? Into the pair of eyes that I was deliberately avoiding? The ones that were staring a hole through me right now? No. I couldnât bear to meet those eyes. So I kept looking forward at the mean walls - those mean, mocking walls.
âIs the water warm enough?â He asked, dipping a finger into the bathwater to test it himself.Â
I watched as his hand snuck into the tub and swirled around some water, causing soap bubbles to revitalize.Â
For a reason I didnât know nor could remember at this given moment, Spencer drove me to his apartment. That memory of why I was here was fuzzy, but the rest following my arrival was more vivid. Perhaps because it was all unfolding right now.
âI think I should go,â I murmured. The bathwater had gone cold, and the silence was too deafening. If I didnât leave now, then I would be trapped forever.Â
I leaned forward with my knees still pressed to my chest to protect my modesty while I tugged on the silver drain plug of the tub to release the suction.
âYou canât go home. Youâll be alone again, and who will be there to help you that time?âÂ
âI donât need anybodyâs help.â I responded curtly.Â
âThen why did you call me tonight?â
âWhy did you answer?âÂ
He was stunned by how I didnât miss a beat with my question, stunned enough to purse his lips in contempt. âShould I have declined your call then? Said ânoâ instead and let you fend for yourself? You know what - my bad, (y/n). I sincerely apologize that I care about you.âÂ
I scoffed at his factiousness. âNo, what you shouldâve done is whatever the hell you wanted to do. But clearly, since you said âyesâ and came to my rescue like Iâm some victim in a case - you wanted to be there. I could chalk that up to you having a hero complex, but I think itâs time for you to admit you just wanted to see me at my worst so you could throw it in my face like youâre doing right now.â
He clenched his jaw in fury, muttering under his breath, âI shouldâve left you in that booth.âÂ
This crossed a line, but I was just as ready to cross it, too.Â
âBut I bet you liked saving me. Seeing me as a damsel in distress that you could white knight. You like that, Spence? Does my weakness settle your deep rooted fear of inadequacy in strength?â
Shouldnât have done that.Â
For a second there, I was sincerely scared of the response I mightâve just elicited, so I shot up from the tub and grabbed the towel on the rack, quickly wrapping myself in it and avoiding Spencerâs gaze the entire way out of the bathroom.
âWhere do you think youâre going?â Judging from the loudness of his voice, he was right on my heels, following me close behind.Â
âYouâre smart. Figure it out.âÂ
âGod, why do you have to be such a pain in the ass? I donât want to leave you like this.â It never failed to amaze me how he could both show disdain and concern for me in the matter of a sentence.Â
âWell, youâre not leaving me like this - Iâm leaving you like this.â My clever remark angered him more.
Seemingly from out of nowhere, Spencer called out from the end of his hallway, âWhat are you so scared of?âÂ
Reaching the end of my rapidly fraying rope, I spun around to throw my arms out to my side in just the same defensive manner as he did. âNothing! Maybe I just donât wanna be stuck in the apartment of the man who hates me! Can you blame me?âÂ
He ran a hasty hand through his hair, pulling at the strands out of pure irritation. âWhy do you keep saying I hate you? How can any of what Iâve done for you tonight suggest that?â
Heâd chosen his words carefully and for that, he was smart. His inclusivity of the word âtonightâ meant I could only reference his actions from the past few hours, which wouldnât help my case, as opposed to the months and months that heâd given me the cold shoulder, which would have helped my case. But again, he was smart - he had me in a deadlock. I couldnât accept defeat, but what could I possibly argue against his point?Â
My body literally shook from the power of the deep groan that tore through my chest. âGod, what do you want from me, Spencer?â I wanted nothing more than to be far, far away from him, but my body was resisting all those urges. Lunging forward, I pointed the sternest index finger at him, staring the most unforgiving glare into his soul. âTell me - tell me what you want! Because when I was nice to you, you-you treated me like shit. And then when I stopped being nice to you, you still treated me like shit. So what -â I had to laugh to alleviate the sheer rage I was feeling. âWhat the fuck do you want from me? Because itâs like no matter what I do, itâs just not good enough for you!â
His eyebrows had furrowed and his eyes softened. He didnât look angry whatsoever. No, he looked hurt.Â
âNot good enough for me?â He leaned down to my level to look right into my eyes. âYou are everything ⊠everything to me.â
With one last breath, I cried out in anguish, âThen why? Why do you hate me so much?âÂ
He gulped back the lump in his throat - the last barrier that kept him from telling the truth.Â
âI ... I never hated you. I just need to be in control of my thoughts and feelings at all times, otherwise, I feel-I feel like Iâm going crazy. Like Iâm on the verge of a psychotic break that Iâm genetically predisposed to have. But when you came around - I lost all my control. You were inhabiting my dreams, you were stealing my sleep, occupying more and more space in my brain until there was no more room left to take. God, I think about you all the time, and I literally cannot physically stop it. I have no control anymore,â and somehow him saying that sounded something like an âI love you.âÂ
âThe only thing I could control was how I treated you. I thought being awful to you would get you to despise me enough to make me despise you, too, and while it was easier to be angry at you, it was so much worse having you hate me.â
âI never hated you, Spencer.â Never.Â
âYou should have,â He rasped. âI know I donât deserve you, but I wish to spend every day proving that I want you. Oh, I want you so bad,â He sharply inhaled through gritted teeth, and I unconsciously laughed in return. His pain wasnât funny in the least. What was amusing was knowing that he had the same excruciating longing for me that I had for him.Â
âI donât want control anymore if it means I canât have you.â
He leaned in so carefully that I almost didn't register the movement at all. Our hearts were pounding to the same synchronized beat. We were the shore and the tide one in the same. Our breaths would draw in and out, in and out, as he held my face so gently. We were still the shore and the tide, but more than anything we were drowning in the ocean of ourselves. The rising waters of his admiration threatened to flood every empty nook and cranny of the room until it swallowed me whole. All I could feel was him, everywhere, filling absolutely everything.Â
âWow ... I finally got you speechless,â The cocky bastard hummed happily, letting his words vibrate on the smallest part of my lip.
âOh, shut up,â I declared through a smirk I needed to fight off before finally closing that nearly imperceptible gap between us.Â
All the forces in the world couldnât tear us apart after we connected. They were no match for the force Spencerâs hands had as they pulled me impossibly closer. The pressure mightâve even been unbearable had it not been for the velvety pair of lips giving me back all the oxygen it stole from my lungs just seconds ago. They were so soft, like freshly washed sheets, like biting into cotton candy, like floating for the first time, feeling utterly weightless in water. Itâs sweet, itâs so effortlessly sweet.Â
Not nearly as sweet as the words that followed our parting.Â
âNot enough for me?â He repeated, recalling my previous claim. âYouâve had me since the day you walked in, trouble.âÂ

Brothers in the Human Realm
No one was a demon to begin with (maybe luci though but-). You meet the brothers as human in the human realm. How would you meet them?
Lucifer:
Apparently some schoolmate of yours have done some violations in the school grounds and they used your name
You were sent to the Principal's office where you were questioned by Principal Diavolo about your wrong doings
You were trying to defend your innocence, but it was no avail
Coincidentally Lucifer was just dropping paperwork to Diavolo
Lucifer is your strict and scary and handsome college professor
He overheard the conversation and he defended you since he knew that you weren't lying
"Mr. Diavolo I must say, MC is one of my exceptional students, they would not do something as idiotic as that, and I clearly observe the behavior of my students"
Your H E R O
The next day, someone gave Principal Diavolo evidence of those who did wrong
Your name was cleared
Apparently you saw Lucifer giving those schoolmates detention, threat, and punishment. You may or may not seen a hint of killing intent in his eyes
You decided to thank Lucifer
"No worries, I just clearly observe the actions of what is mine"
H O L D U P
"Wha-" you replied
"Ah MC I have to go to my next class, take care"
Mammon:
Is a famous model, often the cover and centerfold of the monthly Majolish
For you Mammon was okay? I mean he is famous and many people likes his face
You were going to buy a limited edition sunglasses that have hint of yellow and orange
You went to a sunglass store and asked the attendant if they they still have it but apparently the one on the display is their only stock
You decided to buy it
Apparently, Mammon also came to that specific sunglasses store looking for sunglasses that is the same as the one you bought
"I'm sorry sir, but apparently it was already bought and we have no stock" the attendant said
"Who bought it?"
"They did, sir" the attendant said as they point to you
"Oi! Can I buy the sunglasses from you? I'll pay double, no one can refuse the great Mammon"
"I'm sorry but I have to refuse. I really wanted it." you said
"Don't you know who I am? I'm-"
"The Great MAMMON, who is a famous model and often seen on Majolish magazine" you cut him off. "R-right! Now can i buy-"
"Nope sorry" you replied as you rushed to the exit
"Oi! What's your name? And contact details" he asked
"the name is MC, thats all you can get from me" you said as you rushed to the crowd
He was swarmed by the number of fans who saw him
He managed to find you and he chats you "Can I buy the sunglasses now?"
In the end it wasn't just sunglasses you talked about, you also talked about his struggle of being a model and your life
Leviathan:
Your username DestructoSheep is well known in the realms of Obey them
You always rank 2nd in pop quizzes
However no matter what you try, you can never beat your enemy, L3v1
Today, you got a letter from obey them, acknowledging the top players and giving them limited edition items
Ofc you have to go (there are limited items after all)
So you arrived early at the meetup place, no one was there yet so you played some obey them
A purple haired male entered the room, he looked fidgety, nervous, and he was mumbling something about normies
Cue giving of merch
The purple haired male tripped on the tiles and he dropped his phone in front of you
You helped him up and picked up his phone only to see his player name is L3v1.
"You.... You are L3v1." you sai
"Y-Yeah?W-Why?" he said as he was going to grab his phone away from you
"Waaaah! I'm DestructoSheep nice to meet you, oh but you can call me MC" you said as you reached his hand for a handshake
"I-uhhh I'm sorry I'm not used to touching, thats very normie-ish" he said as he averted his eyes
"My name is Leviathan, levi for short"
"I've always thought that the top player is always prideful and such but here he is being shy" you said as you chuckled
"H-hey! I'm still the best one in obey them mind you! I got every event cards at lvl 150 and skill lvl 10 and-"
"Yeah yeah I know" you said
After both of you received the merch, you both talked nonstop about obey them, other games, and anime
It was more like Levi bragging the amount of games and anime he played and watched
It was almost dusk till both of you notice the time
"Ah i got to go early, need to cook dinner. Chat me sometime!!!" you said as you gave him your contact details
Expect no sleep cuz both of you kept chatting till dawn
Satan:
He saw a kitty in a box in an alleyway near his apartment
Everyday, he often stops by to give the kitty enough food for the day
Is often disgusted by the fact that most people dump their pets in trash because they don't have anything to feed it
Saw you going to the alleyway
He suspected the worst and he thought that you were gonna harm the kitty he was feeding
"Hey don't harm-" he stopped
He saw you feeding the kitty
"Ah I assume you thought that I was gonna harm it?" you asked
"Well I thought the worst, humans are naturally scum anyways, but even so I do apologize"
"Ah it's alright, it's not a big deal anyways" you replied
"You come here often? I mean to feed the kitten that is" he asked
"You can say that, but not as often as you do" you said
"How did you know?did you perhaps-"
"Ah I happened to saw you feeding the kitten, I was just shy to approach you" you said
"Well I come to believe that people who are close to cats are not necessarily bad"
"I have to say I have to agree" you replied
"Ah I have to go, let's chat here again next time" you added
The alleyway became your meeting place to chitchat about cats
Asmodeus:
The famous M.A.D. Company released a new and limited edition Devil Set makeup and you were dying to get a hold of one
You spent a day looking at different stores but it was either unavailable or sold out. However, you were lucky to find another store that has one last stock.
You didn't notice someone else was also going to get it and so both of you grabbed the last set
"Uh... I'm sorry I have been looking this for the whole day, may I have it?" you politely asked
"Awww sweetie, I have been doing the same thing! Can you be a dear and let go of it?" the male with champagne-colored hair replied
Cue 1 hour of both of you saying "let go" or "it's mine"
"I have an idea! Let's just buy the set and divide it" you said
"Ohh! Good thinking! I will take the lippies, Devil shadow palette and the foundation!"
"That's literally EVERYTHING IN THE SET"
Cue two more hours of bickering.
Both of you didn't notice someone took it while the two of you are bickering
You noticed that it was gone
"Um... Someone already bought it while you two were... fighting" the saleslady explained
Both of you left the store empty handed and sad and you decided to break the atmosphere
"Pffft I'm sorry for fighting because of a Makeup set, btw my name is MC" you said
"I'm also sorry dear, although I wanted it I still didn't get it. I even missed my appointment to the salon!"
"And my name is Asmodeus, perfect name for a perfect being!" Asmo added
"Alright Mr 'Perfect' " you rolled your eyes
Let's just say that both of you talked about makeups on your way home.
Beelzebub:
Beel is your classmate during Physical Education class at college
Is a famous football player in your campus and he is also known for his handsomeness
His practice hours were often morning to late lunch and late lunch til dusk
During late lunch you saw him in the cashier by the cafeteria, asking if they still have cheeseburger available
But to his dismay, the cashier said "I'm sorry you already bought the last cheeseburger, and that's the last quota for the day"
He seemed sad and still hungry
You still have a cheeseburger to eat, but when you saw the time you knew you weren't gonna make it on your next class
When no one was looking, you decided to approach Beel and gave him your cheeseburger
"Are you giving this to me?"
"Yeah, I was going to eat it but I don't have much time for my next class" you replied
"Thanks, I owe you one"
You saw how happy he was when he got the cheeseburger
You were shocked how fast he ate it
Did he like inhale it or something
After your class, you noticed that he texted you saying "Thanks for the cheeseburger, I'll repay you next time you get hungry"
Let's just say you both got closer after that
Belphie:
It's your first day of online class, and your first subject has a 4 hour lecture
You forgot to disconnect your meeting link and you didn't notice until you were about to do homework
As you were about to disconnect, you saw that you weren't alone and you're classmate is still connected
You didnt want to leave him so you tried your best for your classmate to notice you. You tried spamming and saying " hello"
After 1234 attempts he finally noticed you
"Ah I'm sorry I slept during the boring lecture, thanks for waking me up"
"Ah it's no problem" you replied
"My name is Belphegor as you can see, but you can call me Belphie"
"My name is MC" you replied
"Say... How are you still here after hours after the lecture?"
"I forgot to disconnect" you replied
"Uh idk if this is too much of a favor to ask, can you wake me up again next time? After lecture that is, I don't want to be late for other classes"
"Sure, I don't mind I guess" you replied
After that, both of you got to know each other and you forgot to do your homework and you became a personal alarm clock
