Selfship Vocabulary Guide!

Selfship: To ship yourself or a self-insert with a character, whether it be platonic, romantic, or familial.

Yume/Yumeship: A different word for selfship. Short for yumejoshi (feminine), yumedanshi (masculine), or yumejin (gender-neutral).

F/O or Fictional Other: A character that you ship yourself with.

S/i or Self-Insert: A character you created that represents yourself in the world of a series, movie, book, video game, etc. They usually (but not always) have similar personality and features to their creator.

Romantic F/Os: Fictional characters that you feel a strong romantic attraction to. You may imagine yourself being in a relationship with them.

Familial F/Os: Fictional characters that you feel are like your family. This could be characters you consider your parents, siblings, kids, etc.

Platonic F/Os: Fictional characters that you consider to be your friends or feel a platonic love towards.

OC x Canon: Shipping an original character such as a self insert with a canon character in their world.

Canon x Canon: Shipping two canon characters with each other. This may be canon in the story or not. Many selfshippers feel uncomfortable seeing their F/O in these ships.

Y/N or Your Name: Mostly used in fan fictions, it’s meant for you to insert your name into the story like a self-insert.

Comfort Character: A character that can bring somebody comfort without self inserting.

Doubles or shared: F/Os that you and another person may have that are the same character

Sharing NG: “Sharing Not Good” this person is uncomfortable with sharing their F/Os or interacting with people that have the same ones

what about your f/o rambling about their interests to you ? Would you sit patiently and take in all the information , asking questions just to see their eyes light up because they get to tell you more about their (second) favorite thing ? Would you buy them gifts revolving around their interests , take them to places involving their interests , or learn about it yourself so you can both talk about it together ?

ok so I think I might just be really sad about all the Doctor Moments™️ we’re not going to get with 15? you know, with a new doctor there are all these Things you get: running around in the old outfit, the wooziness of the post-regen period, the first “I am the Doctor”, the first time they see their new tardis…… and here it was all. david tennant? I’m not even going to go back on the 13’s clothes situation bc everything has already been said but 15’s first moments having to do with comforting 14? 15’s first “I am the Doctor” moment being in response to 14’s? showing 14’s reaction to the new tardis instead of 15? idk man. feels bad.
