dying to know what makes the rice forbidden... lovely meal :-)

it was delicious 🥰 @pyjamac cooked it all, hes an amazing chef.

the rice is called forbidden rice because purportedly in chinese antiquity it was reserved only for the ruling class due to its crazy nutritional content. its still expensive and usually mixed with other rices to bolster the weight, and there are a few different varieties grown today :-) he picked up the bag we have from a local chinese grocery! youre likely to find some there if you have any close by.
