I'd argue that jude's most important relationship was with cardan, but yeah, its not a romance book. jude's relationship with cardan was a means to an end, not the other way around. it highlights her (and cardan's) character arc really well. I do wish more people talked about her relationship with madoc though because that was so good
The main theme in tfota was not love. Jude's most important relationship was not Cardan. Their romance is my favourite thing I've ever read, but it's not a main theme in tfota.
I saw a lot of people (mainly on tiktok) who said they were disappointed at the lack of romance bc Jurdan are so hyped. As a mainly political fantasy/Sci fi/dystopian reader, Jurdan is the best thing ever. But if you read exclusively romance books, Jurdan simply does not have enough page time to qualify.
In my opinion, Jude's most interesting/important relationship in tfota was with Madoc. Her story was about respect. Their dynamic shifting throughout the books is the most objective way of tracing Jude's character arc.
I would say Jude's relationships with her sisters are also more important than her relationship with Cardan a lot of the time, but that might just be me.
Honestly I never know what I'm talking about with tfota it has so many layers sorry if this made no sense.
#the romance was not there for romances sake#the romance was there as a part of her journey#which was about her relationship to power#and that relationship certainly had a lot to do with madoc#tfota#the cruel prince

People will be like “character did no wrong” and I’m like no, he did lots of wrong. He was placed in a difficult situation and I understand his motivations, but it was still wrong. And also I feel lots empathy for him and I felt like he should have been second chance for redemption.

its not sexist to avoid shaking hands with the opposite sex. I avoid shaking hands with men. it's not an uncommon thing in traditional muslim or jewish communities and doesn't harm anyone

I was supposed to be going to this engineering conference with two more experienced engineers but they both had to stay back to help one of our retiring engineers finish a major project so I’m in the middle of Lubbock, Texas by myself

hey here’s a website where you can report webpages that contain child abuse content, including pedophilia and “non-photographic child sexual abuse images.” it’s a reputable resource that helps to shut down around 60,000 websites a year
boosts appreciated, this is a site we should all have bookmarked

this is going to sound cold, but I'm going to say it anyways. I thought this would die down but it looks like the opposite has happened
stop donating to gaza gofundme's
scarcity in gaza has been intentionally created and intentionally maintained. sending money will not increase the amount of bread in gaza. lack of money is not the problem. if you send more money, more people will not be fed and medically cared for, inflation will go up, and perhaps you helped the specific person you sent money to, but you haven't helped gazans plural or gaza as a whole. if one person can afford scraps in that city, it just means someone else no longer can
it's really frustrating to see so much money being donated by well-intentioned people when that money can go places that can actually help. on top of that, the palestine tags have become largely unusable because they're full of donation asks. we had a whole lot of information exchange happening on tumblr and now it's pretty much dead. there are nonprofits trying to fight the US and Israel's status quo. news sites you can support. anti-zionist politicians who take campaign donations, if you're american. if you feel like you truly must donate directly to the people in need, at least send the money to a community kitchen or the like who can buy in bulk and find ways to use the money more efficiently
#free palestine#if i had a nickel for every time the left did harm bc they cared about something i'd have a whole lot of nickels#palestine#gaza

everyone ive ever met who prides themself on being empathetic has been really bad at clocking the deep unease that starts percolating as soon as you inform strangers that youre pure of heart
#anyone who is deeply empatic does not have such an uncomplex view of empathy lol#'im empathetic and its amazing no caveats' sus#maybe there are empathetic ppl who dont realize theyre empathetic tho. they might have a less conplicated relationship#but they wouldnt pride themselves for empathy either

just saw a post about how the authorities ignored a group of people who assaulted young girls bc the perpetrators were a racial minority
and like you'd expect, the notes are full of (1) conservatives who believe this is an accruate portrayal of the left as a whole (2) radfems
and like, obviously nothing excuses ignoring abused children, its evil, etc, but the irony with those notes. outstanding
