I honestly see everything that's going on as the inevitable end of the denigration of public service and the idea that governing is somehow ignoble and doesn't require expertise nor should it be treated like a profession where someone can earn a good wage. We've had decades of scoffing at the idea that public servants doing incredibly complex jobs should be treated with respect or make anything above poverty wages (if they should get paid at all) and now Elon and his cadre of "how hard could it be?????" morons are flipping all the light switches on and off to see what they do and proposing literally decades or centuries own ideas/theories/solutions as if they're the first person to ever think of them (how could they not be? they're engineers!!!!!!!!!)

This is not what I've seen. Palestinians are encouraged not to talk about Israel's self-identification with Judaism, to avoid accusations of anti-semitism because that's the first argument lobbed against them. I have also heard, from every Israeli ally (though they are few and far in between) and others who have been to Israel, that they are actively taught to be anti-Palestinian. I don't know how to explain to some people that the ideas that

1. Owing to the fact Hamas and the PA are virulently antisemitic, there is racism and antisemetism baked into a lot of Palestinian society because it's literally taught in schools

And

2. Israel also has people who are super racist against Palestinians

And

3. Despite the issues above, Palestinians and Israelis are still people and have the right to safety and security in their homes

Are things that can, and should, exist side by side (just like Israel and Palestine)

I genuinely cannot believe that there are actually people out here who believe Trump's awful policy on Palestine proves that Harris would have been better for Palestine. Like they will truly gloss over Biden's crimes and Harris' connections to AIPAC which pretty much assured that she'd continue his policies, and then the second Trump does something bad "this is uniquely bad about trump and no other US president would ever be so cruel to palestine" ????? they would? they have???

all I've seen from anyone who's been paying attention to the middle east is that trump has not been worse for the region (he's not been good, no american president to date has been good about this). he has economic interests. he is not a zionist, because he doesn't really have any strong principles, only the show of principles that will give him power. which means he will act as a zionist, yes, but a lack of stability in the region goes against his main interests
