So just to warn everyone, I am going to be spamming info about my new blog this week (possibly more than a couple posts a day)- newstrengthinprogress. I don't want anyone to get annoyed by this so please feel free to unfollow this blog once you follow my new blog. Training 8/18/14- Bench Press
Training did not go as planned last night as I discovered my tricep was still injured. Also, my back was in horrible pain. I think that was just because I sat a lot this weekend so it knocked my right hip and lower back out of alignment which can all be fixed during my next visit to the chiropractor. The guys used the 55lb bar last night, which isn’t the end of the world, I just don’t do as well with it because it is a little thicker. I am planning on cycling through some different bars with the bench press after maxing out to help my bench and grip, I had just not planned to use a different bar last night. I only got up to 130, which isn’t horrible considering it is 96% of my max, but I had planned on hitting 135 and above. All I can say is that the pain just shut my strength down. I did 130 a couple times, the first time I barley got it, the second time I missed it and almost didn’t get it off my chest. The best way I can describe what happened is that while bringing the bar down it was all I could do to keep my right arm from giving out, and when the bar paused on my chest, my right arm just kind of shut down and I couldn’t get any drive. In regards to my lower back, it just hurt a lot. It made it really hard to keep my back tight, and after my second attempt at 130, I had to get helped off the bench because my back hurt too much to sit up properly.  Apparently I just looked like I was in pain because some teammates came over and asked if I was ok before I really mentioned I was hurting. So not only did I feel crappy, but apparently I looked it while pressing I attempted to do some accessory work but was jut like “nope, you need to stop.” So I got some more deep tissue massage work done on it and went home to ice it. Overall it was a very frustrating night. All I can focus on now is healing up so I can get back to training hard.

Testing My lifts this week!
So this week I am testing my maxes in all my lifts. I am both super excited and nervous. I am nervous simply because I ended up taking 2 weeks off due to injury/other parts of my body starting to hurt instead of 1. I know that all my strength has not disappeared in 2 weeks and that my body needed the rest, but I have not taken 2 weeks off before trying to lift heavy before. Tonight is bench, which I am excited to test. My tricep still aches every now and then but I am pretty sure that it is all better. I am planning to take some videos tonight so I can watch my form.

Recovery days 6-8- Fri.-Sun.
So Friday was the first day of this entire time off that my body has started to feel achy from lack of lifting. That just shows me how much I needed this break. Since I have been back home I have tried to go for a little bit of a walk each day except Saturday, that was a i am staying home in my pjs all day sort of day. I worked with my foam roller a good bit and did some more yoga. I am looking forward to being back in the gym tomorrow though!
