Returns to post art for once hi hiiii

This is a Christmas gift for @stormystarlight that I used as a chance to experiment with styles, and of course, I had to include The New Age somehow.

As of right now, we are stuck in hiatus hell :( However, we're also in arc 3 out of 6. I'm shocked we made it this far and I hope my players enjoy the eventful conclusion of this arc where religious trauma is defeated and the kids stolen by evil gods can finally rest! (Yeah did I mention how this campaign is a bit fucked up-)

map part for my own map (wyrd)! it's the intro so there will be Giant Text covering the middle of the screen in the final version, but here you get to see the back of scav 21655's head in all its glory

meant to post this last week, but five's arc in tna has officially begun! which means i can finally post this old fake promo poster thing i made back in april :3 hehee

the way our dm has set up this campaign, there are 6 arcs, each dedicated to a different player character and tying in to a greater narrative/building off each other. they last, like, roughly 10–15 sessions each. the first and second arcs were caprino's and bunny's; now it's five's turn! theirs is titled "your god in heaven"

i don't think i've posted any of them in full color before, so to be clear, the three gods at the top are chauntea, talos, and selûne, from left to right. chauntea and selûne are who five and lunelis used to worship, before talos came into the picture. the bird wings depicted in the background are a common cuckoo's and a loggerhead shrike's. (y'know, for no particular reason. there's no symbolism to be found here)

scavs for some folks in the rain world discord server! they have a sort of art fight-esque event going on at the moment, and i figured it'd be a good opportunity to practice drawing more scavs :]

this was also a new, experimental technique for me—another thing i've been meaning to practice more with is combining traditional & digital mediums. i sketched & lined these on paper, then blocked them in with copics for an underpainting layer. then i took 'em into sai and painted the rest of the colors in on top (and used some weird blending mode shenanigans to ensure the lineart stayed visible). it was weird to figure out but i really like the result! i think the two on the right suffered a little from their copic colors being too similar to the final palettes, but now i know for next time

after being knocked unconscious in one of the party's first fights together against a sandworm, five is visited in a dream by their god: talos, lord of storms and destruction. he comes bearing a warning.

this is a scene that happened in secret mid-session all the way back in SESSION TWO of the campaign!!!!!!!!! SESSION TWO!!!!!!!!!!!! i drew it out in about a week back then, around late november/early december last year. today, in session twenty-four, the players FINALLY got their public reveal for which god five is devoted as a cleric to. :] so now i can share it. hehe

for further context, five isn't willingly devoted to talos. the details of how they came to follow him have still yet to be revealed, but it's clear in how they act and how they write about him in their book that they hate and fear him.

this particular conversation has had an impact on their relationship with their party that's hard to overstate. abel in particular was one of the first people to show them any kindness since their arrival in cross haven two years back, and having to brush it off in fear that reciprocating might put him in danger has been something they've continuously struggled with/failed to do. it applies to all of them, though—the more the party has started to feel like a family, the guiltier five has felt for wanting to be a part of it.

here's a couple more talos sketches i can share now, as a treat. i might have a couple other things to post soon but most of the rest of my polished art of him is still spoilers for other reasons.
