@alexandermcqueen piece at the @metmuseum's #heavenlybodies #fashion / #costume #exhibition This piece is from his collection No. 13. The collection focused on the #handmade and #folkart traditions mixed with #modern #technology. The wings are made of balsa wood to keep them light, but I was #obsessed with the #pants! The #patternmaking is impeccable! Look at the back of the leg and where they placed the seam so that the item clings to the shape of the wearer around the waist to the upper thigh. And then at the hem, the seam explodes open to reveal a cascade of lace, harking back to the handmade within the piece to be sold in stores. (Although I would love a pair of those wings...)
