Meet Gabrielle, Reader & Editor for Issue 4!! ✨ Gabrielle Armstrong studies English, Comparative Literature and Teacher Prep at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. During her first two years of college education, she was also an athlete with the University's Dance Team. Additionally, she has danced in groups like Mayawest Dance Project and Western Ballet Theatre, been her dance school for over a decade, where Mumy and Nana Badrena taught her all she knows about dance and ballet. Currently, she's co-owner and teacher at Avant Performing Arts Studio while she continues her other passion: writing. Meet Bana, Editor for Issue 4!! ✨ Bana Aassy has had the passion for writing since she was 11, a time when her diary writings often steered to fiction. Rather than document a day at the beach or how much homework her teachers gave her, she wrote about movies she had seen or stories she had read, imagining her own characters within them instead. At 13, she was fully committed to writing a diary, and two years later she made the decision that she was going to write fiction for a living--finally finding a home for all of her imaginary friends without having to forget them and "grow up". Another skill that accompanied her since childhood is art; sketching was a second nature and she made sure to put to use painting and drawing as tools to accompany her writing. Her current project is a fantasy novel in progress currently titled The Children of Miid, illustrated by herself, while simultaneously finishing an MA degree in English Literature. Meet Gabriel, Reader & Editor for Issue 4! ✨ Avid reader of classics while enjoying modern Young Adult fiction, Gabriel Rivera Lopez began reading at the young age of three with his mother. From there, he spent the next eleven years as a homeschool student, where he found a deep-rooted enjoyment in writing. At the age of 14, he entered high school, tenth grade, where for the first time he met and interacted with other readers and writers. ✨ Now in his college years, Gabriel still enjoys reading and writing but has taken a permanent interest in Deaf Culture and professional dancing. His work has been previously published in Smaeralit, provoking different feelings by the depth of his plots and characters. Let's meet our staff! ❤️ Rania M. M. Watts is a Lebanese-born Canadian Poet. She self-published her first two books Cement Covered Ink Quills & Rarities and Summer to Summer Rewind! Her third book, Cockroach Blueprint, was published by KUBOA Press in 2017. Currently, she's the curator and editor of the Roach Print Anthology, to be released on November 7, which houses 101 different methodologies as to how to kill a cockroach to help people deal with their anxieties. All the proceeds from this book will go to global mental health initiatives. ✨ Rania's also been published by the 48th Street Press Broadside Series and the Open Minds Quarterly special classroom edition, which has been used to educate college and high school students on mental health issues. She has written for two music blogs based in the UK, as a reviewer and journalist, The Punk Archive and Music Gateway, respectively. ✨ Rania has had numerous detours away from poetry, including earning a Social Service Worker Diploma from Centennial College. The focus of Rania's studies encompassed: HIV/AIDS Awareness, Prevention, Advocacy and Suicidal Ideation. ✨ She dabbles in myriad of Art mediums, however, is most at home with a pen, crayon, eyeliner, quill and any type of parchment.
