I absolutely adore the new warrior and shepherd art you posted! Was there a particular mythology or folklore you pulled inspiration from for it? I’m a sucker for all things related to old European history and folkmyth.

The clothing and the fact that Cìaran (did I spell his name right?) I assume is the warrior in this makes me guess it’s something connected to Celtic?

The original story of these characters takes place in contemporary Ireland so I thought it made sense when making a Myth AU to keep on that line rather than a greek myth one or an arthurian type of world.

I’m researching the Tuatha dé Danann and Fianna Cycle bc I’m invested now but I won’t do much with it I think, I don’t plan on developing this AU much further, it’s intimidating.

The designs are a mix of references and made up elements tbh, Ciarán’s is heavily inspired by Leyendecker’s Cú Chulainn!

Love the art, utter perfection, to get that out here first. As for the Ask, do you use any references for the anatomy, do you make your own, or do you just Wing It? If you use references and would like to share, I'd feel super grateful! :D

It depends. If I’m making studies I copy an exact reference. If I’m working on an illustration where I need a very specific pose I compile a bunch of refs that are similar to what I want and use them all to end up with a decent result. If I’m designing a character or I don’t have the mental image super clear I like to look at refs, but then close them and work from memory because I have a feeling the result is more creative and my workflow faster :)) (I revisit them if something doesn’t work ofc)
