I… somehow found myself in the way of revisiting some old OCs, turns out I still love them more than I imagined, specially some of them

Some are just getting updated/more recent drawings while others are getting drastically revamped on the design aspect, although I am kinda indecisive on who should I try to draw next so I'm making a silly ahh poll to decide

Those are some of the few I'm actually motivated to do, I have many more tbh

Also would like, people be interested in me posting about some of those redesigns I've done here? I know I can post whatever I want and the like but I'm unsure because they're somehow more personal to me than some of the rest of my characters I have posted here because they were originally made by Younger Eli™

Oh yeah, definitely. Shoutout to the five kids today asking to re-glue the rhinestones onto their .52-Gals for them. It was... bizarre. And from the sound of it, they weren't in a group or anything. Just five individual Inklings and Octolings who would rather go up to the store than get a hot glue gun from their closets or whatever and do it themselves.

Super funny, though.

Donny was having a blast talking to all the customers rushing in and showing them weapons they've definitely already seen before. It was adorable!

With the Splatfest offishialy announced the workshop has been busier than ever so I'm back with more stories that have happened in my workshop, on today's episode: Snipewriter 5B

For some cod forsaken reason the whole thing wasn't even charging up, no ink could flow in, and no ink could flow out (because there was some ink stuck in the tank inside which is bad mostly since it would make a mess when I had to inevitably open it up)

Of course when I disassembled it I ended up with my clothes covered in ink but I did find the issue, the wooden casing

The whole thing looked like it was corroded from the inside and the whole ink canal got warped to the point of being essentially non-functional, thankfully it was salvageable enough so with some good woodwork and changing most of the pieces involved it was as good as new

Honestly I don't want to know what that person did for it to corrode this badly, but yes, Snipewriters

How do Inklings and Octolings bathe?

some headcanons+doodles about how i think inklings and octolings (inkfish) bathe, taking the water weakness into account. I think it's boring to ignore the water weakness and it is undeniably canon, see this post for more info!

I've heard ideas like ink-based piping or attachments that change water as it comes out into ink, but imo the former sounds expensive to install everywhere, most species aren't ink based and like water, and even inklings and octolings still use water. The latter seems too... magical?

I also wanted to keep it simple. high pressure mist showers or bath bombs are modern inventions, but sitting at the edge of a hot spring and wiping ones body down with a damp sea sponge is something i can imagine an inkling doing 1000 years ago if they had that bathing culture.

These are just a few ideas. The way we humans bathe differs depending on culture and time, and even the individual, and I'm sure there would be truth to that for inkfish too.

(final note, suction cup teeth on inklings aren't canon LOL but since its a trait some species of real squids have, i think there would be inklings that have it too.) anyway if you want to adopt these headcanons, then please do<3

ok the existence of bathtubs in the splatoon universe implies that they are taking baths. how do you think that works? they die in water. do they bathe in ink? do they only shower? ???

i think it's more that inklings and octolings are in the minority of having a water weakness in the splatoon universe; salmonids swim in the sea, jellyfish can be seen in the water with no issue in the backgrounds of stages like brinewater springs and mahi-mahi resort, big man has stage dialog where he forgets that shiver physically can't go into the pool at mahi-mahi, and the latest artbook for splatoon 3 mentions that a band member character who is an octopus that doesn't seem to be an octoling since they aren't shown to have a walk form likes to take long baths; so infrastructure and plumbing would still be more likely to accommodate people who could submerge themselves in water as the default. this post by @rassicas right here is a great summary on how inklings and octolings interact with water in-universe sourced with translated dev interviews on the topic, and they also drew out their own headcanons on some of the ways that inkfish can practice personal hygiene while being unable to submerge themselves in water

personally i have very similar beliefs on how inkfish would wash themselves. footbaths and saunas are already mentioned in japanese stage dialog from splatoon 2 and some of the brinewater springs stage dialog in 3 respectively, and one of the artbooks for splatoon 2 mentions inklings taking showers. i would also think they'd go for using damp sponges and washcloths while not being in the water itself

Hey chumblr, Happy New Year 🎊

Hope everyone's having a great time, be it being with friends and family, at work, just existing at home, or whatever else

This year has been great, even greater than I could imagine. Business is, well, not booming but it isn't going bad either, I did have enough money to finally move out of my apartment so that's a win, and I'm still a little emotional over the party but I will go deeper into that after I have recompiled all of the photos
