Ok… writting side of tumblr I need your help. I want to make a pirate/mermaid tale and a wildwest/cowboy-esk tale… however I’m… not sure where to start?

I don’t want to do a lot of research of both topics really and really want fresh ideas instead of the typical stereo types always heard about. I want to make something unique but in the same topic I guess? I guess I just need ideas? Idk other writers may know what I’m feeling.
