Moss: Does Rook remember their mother?

Choice - All Three:

Camris:

Yes. He used to remember her fondly, then the contract he was given at eighteen to decide his status with the Crows shone a new light on things, and after going over every memory he has of her and what he learned his views on her have changed to less favourable(He hates her).

Tamrian:

Yes. She was an anchor in his world until he was nineteen, she taught him unconditional love and acceptance. He remembers every laugh line on her face, the scar over her right eyebrow, the lines of her Vallaslin, the sound of her voice(he still dreams of her), how she'd have him braid her hair in the evenings, her cooking.

Telaine:

What little he remembers is not good. She gave him to the Crows when he was five. The next time he saw her was about a week before his twelfth birthday, she showed up in Salle and begged/harassed Viago until he finally agreed to let her see Telaine.

Telaine was not happy to see her, not only did she use him as a way to pay off her gambling debts, she showed up with another kid she'd had maybe a few months after she gave Telaine away. She spent almost two weeks trying to get him to forgive her, to accept his sibling and telling him stories about his father.

He hates that she gave him away like he was nothing but a means to an end and he feels like she replaced him. The stories about his father only made him wonder if the man had left because he wasn't a good enough kid(mamae fibbed quite a bit about how present his father was, where he was/went, and that he'd be coming back), and he doesn't know what's true or not.

Snapdragon: What’s the most selfish thing they’ve ever done?

Tamrian:

He feels that his accepting the bargain that Rainier offered him in order to willingly leave the town where he would definitely be killed if he stayed and go to the Anderfels willingly was selfish of him.

Myrtle: How does Rook’s life (and potentially their partner’s life) change if they have children and/or get married?

Choice: All of them

None of them have ever thought they'd get married, and none of them plan to have any children(two are gay while one transitioned and is a Warden). If they did get married their partner would have to accept that the Crows will continue to take contracts(though they would try to take the less risky contracts), and the that the Wardens life span is likely still shortened due to the blight even after the blight is 'calmed'.

Forget-me-nots: What haunts Rook the most?

Camris:

His nearly a year with the Altus Blood Mage that he was sold to haunts him, to the point that he regularly has nightmares about it if he fails to take the tonic that keeps him from entering the Fade when he sleeps. Then what he discovered in his mother's work space during his status deciding contract with the Crows when he was 18, she was doing a lot of the same things to others that the Blood Mage that had him had done(specifically the torture and using of their blood for spells/rituals). 

Tamrian:

The loss of his family is what haunts him, first his parents and then his sister. The loss of his sister is worse for him though, because she took her last breath in his arms even as he did everything he could to heal her.

Telaine:

His mother giving him to the Crows, and then everything he suffered during his training and some of his contracts.

Tamrian:

His mom telling him that he was going to have a sibling after he asked why her stomach was different once she started showing(his sister was five years younger than him, he will be turning 30 in Harvestmere/aka October).

Bergamot: Does Rook drink? What sort of drunk are they?

Camris:

He drinks excessively when he's coping badly. And the type of drunk he is depends on what's caused him to resort to drinking.

If a relationship has tanked, he'd in a bar getting drunk to forget and likely get into a fight to see what happens. Will he go home bruised up and alone, or will they end up making out mid fight? Place your bets!

When single - If he's in a bar drinking simply because he's stressed he is likely going to be flirting and trying to pick someone up for a bit of fun.

If he'd in a relationship, he tries to avoid drinking at bars if he's upset simply because he knows himself well enough that he doesn't want to cause the person he's with to worry about him getting into a fight.

Did you wonder what actual Cantori Diamond casino looks downstairs, bellow the Crow's base? Took flycam down there and it's completely pitch black, you cant see anything, but than I added spot lights and saw it's actually HUGE nice space with tables, big hallway and tones of npc's hanging out down there in the dark lmao 👀 why did they put all those npc's and space down there only for it never to be seen?!?!? they must've had plans to show it as some point! 😁

Venatori Siblings

Made Alaine and Camris' siblings for rrau funsies.

Gavin has been introduced in the rrau and has paid a bounty to get his hands on his little brothers girlfriend - Who was originally slated to be his via a marriage contract- She did not cooperate. Twice. (he's very bitter) Alaine messed Gavin's nose up during the Minrathous dragon attack while Treviso was being saved. Alaine also injured Gavin so badly that his hair had to be shaved to properly treat the head wounds(Gavin is bitter about that as well, not that he ever truly looked pleasant even with hair).

Gavin vs Alaine: Guess which ones not gonna be among the living for very much longer.

Started progressing my first Qunari, Dio'Asala's campaign. They're so pretty.

Status: Saarebas - Dreamer (yes, another one, shhhh) - Magic manifested at 5, Dreamer abilities manifested at 16.

Both Canonically and RRAU he isn't a Mercar and has no last name. *ignores that the game makes him have one*

He was found as an infant by not so great people, who when his magic came in, sold him to the highest bidder. He grew up in Maaran Porenni's(an Altus Blood Mage) estate being treated as a slave, and once he was old enough, ||a novelty for both his owner and those willing to pay in either coin or favours. ||

He joined the Shadow Dragons in 9:46 Dragon after escaping with the help of strangers(the Crows sent their regards) who came into the estate his owner was visiting. Was taught how to read and write by the Shadows. Feels very out of place around freeborn Qunari.

When asked about himself he's pretty open, he does not view how his life was/is as something to be hidden. Does not register that some of the things that happened to him likely should be carefully approached rather than just dropped so casually that it seems like he's simply talking about the weather.

This week's Rook Wednesday theme is

❇️ The Fade ❇️

Writing prompts: 

1. What was your Rook's understanding of the Fade before the Veilguard? Did they feel comfortable with it or mistrustful?

All of my mages understood the Fade pretty well. The somniari are the most uncomfortable with it due to the normal worries that come with being somniari, when it comes to the Lighthouse, they are the least trusting and the most physically affected by it. The two with more defined issues outside of hating the headaches and whispers are- Alaine: He didn't know what to think of it, it didn't seem too bad.(canon) Though being there at the Lighthouse and it being in the Fade gives him headaches and is having a priming effect on him that's going to make him finally manifesting a much more painful experience(RRAU specific).  Makié: After their experience with a demon stalking them and trying to get them to bargain, they dislike the Fade even more. With the Lighthouse being physically in the Fade, it creeps them out and they trust nothing about it(canon and rrau). 2. What does the Fade provide for them? Are they things of comfort or motivation? RRAU specific

For Alaine: It replicated an old apartment he had while he was in uni. Nothing overly lavish, just simple comfort in a setting that he was happy in. For Asrani: It gave him a windowless choke point set up. A work space for his art supplies, a seating area with a fireplace, a wet room style bathroom and a bedroom with a work space for his alchemy, potions/serums/lotions. It might be adding a second bedroom soon though as he seems to have acquired a new friend. For Camris: It replicated parts of his Treviso apartment because that's where he's most comfortable. He still prefers the real apartment over the facsimile and will retreat there regularly.  For Makié: It blended the past with the present. Facets of their childhood home before the Crows blended with their Salle apartment. And the window and balcony views of skies and forests from their childhood. For Tamrian: It seems to have been made for who he -used to be- rather than who he is now, almost as thought it's trying to tell him he can regain some of who he was. Comfort, forest views, and an emotion indicator in the form of ambient sounds(rain for upset/sad, a calm stream when he's content/calm- dreams will also impact the ambient sounds. It still refuses to give him a kitchen though, like it's trying to force him to leave the room and interact with life. For Telaine: It gave him a room he would have liked, but he never found it. Instead, he went looking for a room with a fellow Warden that suggested they bunk in the same room because being in a new place alone wasn't preferred. The door they found was a blend of two different woods that seemed to bleed into each other towards the middle. The room behind it set up blended for two people. Two beds, each surrounded by different styles, with a simple area to sit between the two(think giant cushiony lovesac), and a wet room tucked off into one corner of the room. They must also leave the room when in need of food.

3. What nightmare would trap your Rook in the Fade? What would it look like? Who would they see there?

Alaine:  Alaine's nightmares tend to be reliving abuse at the hands of his brother, and the day his husband was killed by darkspawn. The dreams about his husband will occasionally amp up and combine with the blight nightmares he has.(canon and rrau) He will also soon end up having nightmares about his partner Rian as she's recently been kidnapped and a rescue mission is in the works.(RRAU specific) Asrani: He is near religious in taking the herbal tonic needed to keep him from dreaming. The rare times that he dreams only happen if he unexpectedly runs out of the tonic due to a mission taking too long, he has nightmares about his father and the abuse he suffered at his fathers hands. He also has nightmares about the blood mage wife of a contract target holding him against his will and assaulting him.(canon and RRAU) Camris: He, like Asrani and Makié, takes a tonic to avoid dreaming. If he does dream, its usually nightmares about the night his sister gave him and his twin over to slavers, or nightmares about the abuse/torture he suffered at the hands of blood mage that bought him.(canon and RRAU) Makié: Another tonic taker, their nightmares are about the day their mother died. They also have nightmares about their loved one, Iseri dying, and of the demon that tried to get them to bargain with it.(canon and RRAU) Tamrian: His nightmares are about the day his parents died and the day his sister died- the dreams about his sister being the worse of the two due to it usually causing his magic to overload and injuring him. Occasionally the dreams of his sister will blend with his blight nightmares. (canon and RRAU) Telaine: Outside of blight nightmares, his regular nightmares are about his Crow training, and being assaulted during his earlier contracts.(canon and RRAU)
