What made you decide to create your own game? And how long did it take you to decide what kind of game this will be?

man, I have no idea how to answer that, I guess its better to tell the story?I’ll keep it short.

 Years ago, about 4-5 I was part of an artist network and job was good. so good that I amassed a good amount of money, but didn’t know what to do with it, my passion for game took over and I was like “huh I could make one”

 I hired a big team, really  good team too, but then I made the stupid mistake of leaving the network thinking the game will support it self and eventually died after some years, more than half of the team member left because money was running out.

 October 2017,CougarX stopped, pretty much lost all core members, except 3 coders. Because I felt in debt with them for sticking around and never questioning anything, I asked them: -“we call it quits and we all look for something else, or, we start a new one from scratch, with little money and  very small team, which ever you decide guys, I’m game” I was already expecting the full disband of what was left of our team, to my surprise, they stayed and boy, they had some really great job offers at that point, I wouldn’t have blame them if they wanted to go, I just couldn’t match those job offers and still they stayed. We spent like a good week pretty much just talking ideas and studying other games until we decided to go for a metroid-vania kind of game. Most important was finding something where every one will be happy, comfortable and having fun. And so we decided to start out work on Almastriga, it was a very rough start really kind of like a shot in the dark, we had cero income from october 2017 to february 2018, I had no idea how we paid bills and all that. finally on release, thankfully it catched up. Its not the best income for a team of 4, in fact, to this very day, I haven’t touched a single penny from it, all goes directly to the coders.

 I’m ok with that guess, but would be nice it gets to the point where we all can make a living out of it and just work on it 24/7, and of course me getting a cut lol. It helps big time that we love how its looking and feeling, I think its going better than CougarX, production wise. It is a very odd spot for me to be in honestly, since I don’t get anything from that project, in my case, as they say, I do it for love and because I want to thank my team mates for trusting in me and sticking around with me when they had the chance to leave, I owe them big time really. If this project is going to fail, at least I want to show them Im putting my 100% on it every single day.
