Dear Saurian fans,
The game was submitted to Steam on Wednesday and is currently under review. It is entirely in Steam’s hands as to when the game is approved. This means the Steam page may not appear until a day or two after the 31st. We will be able to put the game up for all our Kickstarter backers who have the pre-release, but for the rest of you there may be a short additional wait, this is out of our control. We have our Steam trailer to hopefully help tied you over until then in the event that this happens.
Regards, Urvogel Games

This isn’t a dinosaur fossil; it’s a mummy. Scientists think the 110 million-year-old nodosaur was swept to sea by a flooding river, sank, landed on its back, and was pressed into the ocean floor. It’s so well- preserved that it still has intestines and weighs 2,500 of its original 3,000 lbs. Source Source 2 Source 3

Whenever we make art of a very popular dinosaur, we get this tingly sensation of excitement and nervousness about what people will think of our take on it!

As a general rule I don’t actively engage with cranks (though I have the utmost respect for those who have the patience to do so), but I saw an argument on Twitter where one thing a BANDit said was so laughably wrong that I had to react somehow.

A Megalosaurus and Deinonychus I made for the Mexican science and education channel CuriosaMente as a collaboration with my own project The Radical Dinsoaur Fan.
I had quite a bit of fun with these and I’m also happy to update my Deinonychus, since it was the first ‘serious’ reconstruction I ever drew back in the day.

We just launched the Spanish version of the channel with the pilot episode!
Fun fact: this is actually the original language in which the episode was made and the original audio that was translated for the English online debut.

What are the key features of dinosaurs though, exactly?
Kind of a long story and it’s a fluctuating list. Here is a list from Nesbitt:
in the skull, a supratemporal fossa (excavation) is present in front of the supratemporal fenestra, the main opening in the rear skull roof
epipophyses, obliquely backward pointing processes on the rear top corners, present in the anterior (front) neck vertebrae behind the atlas and axis, the first two neck vertebrae
apex of deltopectoral crest (a projection on which the deltopectoral muscles attach) located at or more than 30% down the length of the humerus (upper arm bone)
radius, a lower arm bone, shorter than 80% of humerus length
fourth trochanter (projection where the caudofemoralis muscle attaches on the inner rear shaft) on the femur (thighbone) is a sharp flange
fourth trochanter asymmetrical, with distal, lower, margin forming a steeper angle to the shaft
on the astragalus and calcaneum, upper ankle bones, the proximal articular facet, the top connecting surface, for the fibula occupies less than 30% of the transverse width of the element
exoccipitals (bones at the back of the skull) do not meet along the midline on the floor of the endocranial cavity, the inner space of the braincase
in the pelvis, the proximal articular surfaces of the ischium with the ilium and the pubis are separated by a large concave surface (on the upper side of the ischium a part of the open hip joint is located between the contacts with the pubic bone and the ilium)
cnemial crest on the tibia (protruding part of the top surface of the shinbone) arcs anterolaterally (curves to the front and the outer side)
distinct proximodistally oriented (vertical) ridge present on the posterior face of the distal end of the tibia (the rear surface of the lower end of the shinbone)
concave articular surface for the fibula of the calcaneum (the top surface of the calcaneum, where it touches the fibula, has a hollow profile)

You know dinosaurs ain't real right?
I turn dramatically to the entirety of birds present on this planet. They all stare at me, expectantly, their little birdie faces looking at me in various expressions and emotions. After all, birds are not one unified group.
“I’m sorry guys,” I whisper, my voice hoarse and pained.
One African Grey caws out, “Why are you sorry, Meig?”
I take a long, slow breath, “Tumblr Anon says you’re not real.”
Thousands of voices caw out in unison. The horror in the air is palpable. A Harpy Eagle screeches in fury, while a Little Blue Penguin waddles up to me at the front of the room.
“What do we do?” the penguin asks, even though penguins can’t talk, because I mean, does it matter, since penguins apparently don’t exist?
“We move on, my friend,” I say, patting the penguin on the head, “We move on.”
Slowly but steadily, the birds fly or walk away, all moving out in unison. Some go to universes where they do exist. Others stay here, as ghosts - remnants of an idea that once was.
I change the title of ADAD to A Pseudosuchian A Day. I begin talking about scutes instead of feathers.
But finally, the lies we have all been living under have been exposed.

Major Update
Hello again dear floofins! I bring you an update on the series after a bit of quiet!
The situation had been a bit dire for a while, progress on the physical puppet K.B. was... not ideal. We experimented, we failed, we kept trying. Thus we came to a couple of conclusions:
It's still going to happen, we can make it.
Just not for Season 1
We still think that a physical puppet would be the ideal for the show, but we also don't want to make you all wait a lot longer. And so we set out to make a 2D digital animation puppet! It's not as fluid and flashy as the real one will be, or as versatile (and time consuming) as the pilot's free-hand animated one... but it will help us bring episodes quick enough without losing our titular sassy kulindadromeus!
Oh and the best part about the 2D puppet? It's done, we finished it before even writing this update! That's right, this means we can now finally start proper production for Episode 1! (And will re-structure our Patreon accordingly soon)

Thank you all for your patience and support and we hope to see you soon with Episode 1 of “The Radical Dinosaur Fan”!
