“Why would you talk like that, a man died” idk maybe having to peel my open wounds away from my bedsheets and pants and socks and sleeves on a daily basis for years because my insurance refused to allow my doctor’s appeal for compassionate exemption to reach the FDA radicalized me or something. Not sure tho.
#I scratched my skin off in my sleep on a nightly basis for years#and my insurance company deemed [a drug I’m currently on#but was too young for at the time] unnecessary. that drug is what helped me STOP with the whole skin removal thing bee tee dubs#chronically ill#chronic illness#spoonie#spoon theory

My boss is starting to figure out that the way I’m acting and the beeping noises from my phone correlate to my blood sugar. I had to have the “if my phone is beeping and I’m not reacting, don’t worry about it” conversation with him. It probably would’ve been more effective if it wasn’t making the low blood sugar sound at that exact moment
He did try to push 3 honey buns on me because he was worried, though
“Yeah I’m fine, it’s just-” HORRIBLE LOUD BEEPING ON MAX VOLUME “-it’s just doing that because there’s a 15 minute delay between my actual blood sugar and what the sensor picks up on” MORE MAX VOLUME BEEPING “It should stop in a few minutes, it’s fine.”
#he’d probably be horrified to find out at my last job I just drank a big fountain drink and kept moving#it’s so nice to have a job where I can slow down if I need to for my health tho#chronically ill#chronic illness#spoonie#spoon theory#t1d#type 1 diabetes#type one diabetic#type 1 diabetic#diabetic

*doctor voice* hmmmm…..have you tried this revolutionary method called painmaxxxing? it is where you do not bother me and adjust to being in agony all the time and we do nothing to resolve the root cause or treat the symptoms. you don’t wish to try painmaxxxing? you’re being non-compliant with the treatment plan I have just provided you?

Fighting demons (anesthesia brain justifying expensive hobby purchases)
Love when a new issue pops up that counteracts my preexisting issues
Got a kidney stone today
Everyone online says “eat citrus. Don’t eat salt. Don’t eat meat.”
But I can’t do large amounts of citrus because of reflux, more salt is helpful because of suspected POTS, and red meat is the best way for me specifically to get iron
#this actually needed to be posted two days ago#but mercari is my greatest enemy#didn’t end up getting anything tho stay strong soldiers 💪#chronically ill#chronic illness#spoonie#spoon theory#still no stone fragments I want my fuckin money back

I forget that even if someone knows about diabetes, unless they have it themselves they don’t really know about it
My brother wanted to play a card game he got and I tried to start it but had to stop. I apologized because I couldn’t see out of one eye to read the instructions, because my blood sugar was in the process of coming back up. My mon walked by and was horrified to realize that when I said I couldn’t see when my blood sugar is low I wasn’t exaggerating
#it was like 45 so I felt pretty awful#even now it isn’t quite wanting to focus but it’ll be fine#chronically ill#chronic illness#spoonie#spoon theory#t1d#type 1 diabetes#type one diabetic#type 1 diabetic#diabetic

Went to the hospital because I literally couldn’t breathe. Was having all sorts of “about to pass out” symptoms like dizziness and numbness in my hands and legs. Of course everything cleared up before I got to the hospital because when can symptoms ever stay around long enough for medical staff to see them first hand, right? So anyway I get back to work a couple days later and I mention it to my coworkers because the day it happened I had to clock out early and I wanted them to know I’m better.
If I had a nickel for every time someone said it was probably anxiety/a panic attack I could pay the medical bill right this second. I hate that that’s the first thing people jump to. I’ve had panic attacks, I’m anxious every day. I wouldn’t be clocking out for symptoms I experience every day.
#the hospital ran tests#didn’t find anything except slightly low magnesium#I loooove inconclusive lab work#so now I just have to sit here and hope it doesn’t happen again#chronically ill#chronic illness#spoonie#spoon theory

Having a urticaria flair for the first time in years and I’m miserable. I’ve taken double doses of everything I can, taken Benadryl and nothing is touching it. Luckily it started just before my last appointment with the Dr I see about it so she’s aware, but this is so miserable. I’m working the next four days in a row too so I can’t even fall back on Benadryl.
I’ll be sending my Dr a message at the beginning of next week if it’s still going on, but I really don’t know what else to do. I used to be on a steroid prn because it was really good at shutting down hives, but that’s my last resort as I’m Diabetic too and it shoots my blood sugar up crazy high for 18 hrs afterwards.
#yes I know Benadryl isn’t good for you but sometimes it’s enough to just tip the scales and make my hives go away#chronically ill#chronic illness#spoonie#spoon theory#chronic hives#chronic urticaria#oh also inb4 anyone suggests lifestyle/diet changes; they’re autoimmune and idiopathic so there’s no correlation

Went to schedule an appointment with my PCP because my hair is falling out and it shouldn’t be doing that so I want bloodwork to see if it’s low thyroid or a hormone problem. They have no record of me. I’ve been listing them as my PCP at every appointment for two years. WHERE THE FUCK HAVE MY RECORDS BEEN GOING FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS
I mean I only had an initial appointment with them to get set up with this doctor as my PCP after I got kicked out of pediatric, but I should still exist??? Now I need to dig up my medical info to make sure I’m prepared for my appointment.

Went to urgent care yesterday to get tested for strep and flu and covid bc I’m sick and my coworker was sick before me and it’s reasonable to assume that means it might be something contagious.
Anyway the dr comes into the room, tells me all those were negative, and then proceeds to explain the difference between a virus and bacteria, and that he won’t give me steroids because I’m diabetic and steroids would raise my blood sugar.
I was so close to just looking him in the eye and asking him if he thought I was stupid because oh my god
#I KNOW STEROIDS RAISE BG THIS IS INTRO SHIT KEEP UPPPPPP#JUST GIVE ME ANTIBIOTICS LIKE EVERY OTHER DR GIVES FOR INFECTIONS COMEON NOW#chronically ill#chronic illness#spoonie#spoon theory#t1d#type 1 diabetes#type one diabetic#type 1 diabetic#diabetic#diabetes
