Hey there, nice to meet you! My name's Emma, and I'm just an artist tryin' to make her way into the world of video game art. :D I'm a freshman in college at the moment. I hope you enjoy my work, and I also can't wait to see the progress I make throughout the next phase of my life! :)

Blastoise!
Was playing D&D. Torvold and Mrs. Gnome-It-All decided to create a new “power” (?) where she would learn a water spell and ride Torvold’s back and become Blastoise. Clever, if I do say so myself.
Character Design (Addison Lockwood)
A character of mine that I’ve had since I was a wee freshman in high school. She embodied everything that I wasn’t: confident, brash, etc. She stuck to me! I decided to touch her up a bit.
Pokemon: Squirtle and Psyduck
I watched the movie with my boyfriend, and I loved it! Squirtle is my favorite Pokemon and I chose him as my starter in Pokemon: GO. I’ve named him Edgar, and now all of my Pokemon are named lmao. I also took a test to see what Pokemon I would be from the movie and it said Psyduck (otherwise known as Paisley :D). If the shoe fits....

Another concept sketch in progress, this one is addressing the consequences of poisons that humans use to control rodent populations: unknown to most, poisons don’t stop at their intended targets. Great horned owls are one of many species that fall victim to its effects. It’s a grim fate to face, but a preventable one.

Drawing Style Challenge
I've been working on this over the past week while I've been sitting at home...alone...nothing to do. It's horrible, lol. I did enjoy trying to replicate other styles though, and some I wouldn't mind trying again.
1. My style. I really like how this came out. I was pleasantly surprised by it, not gonna lie. 2. Adventure Time! The first few of these were generic styles that I saw other people do. I liked this one, though! It's cute. 3. Tim Burton. I was skeptical at first, but I like the pale, kind of unsaturated colors. It doesn't truly look like me, but I like it. 4. Anime (My Hero Academia). I'm by no means an anime fan, but I do have an interest in My Hero Academia. I haven't seen any of it in a while though. I don't like how this one came out as much; I think the color ruined it, because I was proud of how it looked at first. Ah well. 5. Gorillaz. This one was partially of my own choosing. I saw other artists use this style, but I would have done it regardless. I should have fixed the hair color a bit, but all-in-all I'd say it's a success. It's like an evil me. 6. Faith Erin Hicks. One of my favorite artists, and quite possibly my favorite comic book/graphic novel artist! I fell in love with her work when I found her graphic novel "The Last Of Us: American Dreams." I found that she's done a lot of books, including the series "Nameless City." I recommend giving her stuff a look when you get the chance! I also decided not to color this one in because Hicks doesn't always color her stuff, and sometimes I think it really fits well. Kind of a nod to that, I suppose. I digress. 7. Oxen-Free. An indie game that came out a few years ago, and the first indie game I played without having heard about it beforehand. It was a free game on Xbox Gold, I think. Anyways, I fell in love with the game and with the characters, but I wish I played more to get all of the endings! (SPOILER) The ending I got was when Alex discovered that she was in a time loop, then the game started over. I got it on my laptop again, though, so I'll find the endings! Sorry for the explanation for each style! It's not necessary, but I like writing down my thoughts. If anyone is like me and likes knowing about why people do things or where stuff originates from, they'll appreciate the description I guess. I enjoyed having something to do!

Self Portrait (updated, improved)
I did this in preparation of a challenge I plan to do, and I’m quite proud of it. Better than my last one.

A superhero comic book cover I had to make as a final for creative process class. I’m well aware that it’s not the best thing ever, but I’m super proud of it! It’s the culmination of everything I’ve worked towards and practiced this semester, and I couldn’t be happier. A lot of work and stress went into this.
The superhero herself is dubbed the Seamstress. She’s like the Edna Mode (Incredibles) of this universe, only she also has the ability to control the thread. Seamstress has a backpack that holds a bunch of different colored threads that she can pull out at any time. She’s quiet and unassuming, but getting to know her, anyone can see that she’s odd and rather terrible at fashion when it comes to her own clothing.
The villain, Mind-Bender, has the ability to bend reality. The downside is that he too can believe whatever he changes. Perhaps he’s okay with that....
Hope you enjoy!

I’ve always wanted to do the “draw this in your style” challenge, but I didn’t get around to it until now. The original is by Rossi Gifford (@rossi.gifford) on Instagram. I recommend giving her page a look!
I was really excited for this one because I’ve been working on anatomy for a little while now, and I’m already starting to show progress in my work and mindset. I also made a new brush for a class I’m taking (it’s a project), and I was able to use it to colour everything in here. It’s really good with blending, too! It’s supposed to be an ink brush, but it’s more like my take on an ink brush. I digress.
I know this isn’t the best piece in the world, but I’m really happy with it. :)

Inktober #2: Tranquility
I was having some trouble figuring out an idea to represent tranquility, so I started looking up some ancient deities that had something to do with tranquility or harmony (at the very least). Lo and behold, listed there was a lesser-known goddess named Tranquillitas. She was sometimes depicted on Roman coins with some kind of dragon-looking thing. Her animal was the Capricorn, hence the creature being wrapped in her arms. Besides being a goddess of tranquility, she as also known as the goddess of doing nothing, and that was what made me choose her as my subject.
I didn't like how the proportions came out in the end, but I'm more than happy with the amount of detail I put into this, especially with a cruddy dip pen. I intricately planned how I thought this was gonna look and ended up with what I think is a Tim Burton type thing, and I don't mind that at all. I quite like Burton's style. I went for a skeletal approach on Tranquillitas and purposefully made her proportions (width wise) unnatural. It backfired, I think. This took me about three hours total, I think. I wasn't paying attention to when I started.

Inktober #1: Poison
I’ve never done it before, but I’ll be doing my best to keep up with Inktober this year. Since I have fall break next week and plan on being lethargic, I’m gonna push a few out early so that I won’t miss any. Hopefully it works. As for the creature in the drawing, y’all might see more of him. He was the subject in a project I did last year and I took a liking to him, so YEP
I’m also rather bad at dip pens, so there’s that. It’ll be especially awful with the broken one I currently own. I’ll work with what I’ve got. I’m still rather proud of this little bloke. I’ll probably post another one tomorrow or Sunday, I’m not sure yet.

This is a little self portrait thing I did a little while ago when I was feeling a tad hopeless. It’s called “Will I Find” based off of the lyrics from Amber Run’s I Found:
“I found love where it wasn’t supposed to be
Right in front of me
Talk some sense to me.”
I have autism. Specifically, I have Asperger’s Syndrome with a side of social anxiety to top it all off nicely. I can move past it, it just gets difficult to initiate and continue conversation most of the time. Of course, that’s not the only issue, but that’s one of the main things about this particular piece.
Along with being an Aspie, I’ve never had a boyfriend before either. There’s this empty pit in my heart that I desperately want to be filled by someone who loves me despite everything I am that could make it tough. I made this piece after I saw several posts on Quota saying that people with autism on average live shorter lives (some only to 30′s) and tend not to marry.
The thought was one that burdened my mind for the rest of the day. Not only are the chances of me living past thirty slimmer than a lot of other people’s, but so were the odds of me getting the chance to love someone for the rest of my life. I let myself mull the information over for the rest of the day before finally deciding that I wasn’t going to end up as part of the statistics. I painted this to express my desire for love, but beyond that my determination is to destroy the average lifespan of an Aspie by any means necessary.
I’ve started going to the gym, first off. Losing weight was always something I’ve wanted to do, so I’ve just gone and done it now. I know it’ll not only boost confidence and self-esteem, but it contributes to living a long life. Next, I did something that I don’t usually do: I got a Tinder. It took about a week and a half, but I’ve already found a guy that’s super sweet and definitely already likes me. I need to tell him about my burdens, but he appears as though he’ll take it well.
But here’s to the moment in life when I felt hopeless, because now I’m transforming what’s to be expected of me into something I’m not about to let happen.

I think this is just a WIP for now, but I finally got into a D&D group for college, and it’s aimed at newbies. That means that I can’t use any of my characters I’ve made; the DM (who is amazingly awesome, he’s cool) wants characters specifically for his campaign, so here’s Morydah Kimris! Dragonborn paladin. Everyone else went for an offensive/supporting role, so I was like “MORE SHIELD. YES TO DEFENSE.” So yeah.
Viola.

More NPCs, YEET
Characters (Left to right, top then bottom)
Odroth Windhammer, King of Arlom: Odroth is a charming man that is well past his fighting days. It is no secret that he lives through his glory days, seeing how he spends a lot of his time boasting about his achievements. However, the people do not seem to mind their King’s hubris. Despite his cockiness, Odroth is certainly a fit (although very proud) leader and rules his kingdom better than most kings in the past.
Alrak Urokax, Bathall Scholar: Alrak is an elderly dragonborn scholar that is never seen without several of his scrolls and books in hand. He has golden scales that cover his body and warm brown eyes to accompany it. His form is tall and bony with long, pearly white horns that curl and reach upwards. Alrak is a bumbling, kind fellow with comically tiny glasses that sit on the bridge of his snout. He possesses flowing white robes that are usually stained with mud from his many travels, a large and worn satchel that sags from the weight of so many books, and a large staff that is covered in scars from years of wear and tear. The Scholar is by no means a fool, but he does seem to stumble around his words more than anyone else...and he is a bit naive.
Baker, Harsos Village Leader: Baker, the Kenku leader of the tiny village of Harsos. She did not expect to get the position, especially for a woman at her young age. But with her kind soul, diplomatic ways, and firm morals, it is no surprise to anyone else that she was chosen. Baker proposes a strong community feel and is loyal to any friend she makes, almost to a fault.
Jada Adelheim, Paladin of Arlom: Jada, twin sister to Fifel Adelheim (below), was the first woman admitted to the noble Order of Arlom, a group of vigilante nobles dedicated to giving their lives to protect all of Arlom’s people. It was rather difficult to get her into the group in the first place, but with her moral code, stubbornness, and excellent fighting abilities, it was decided that it would be foolish to not allow her into the group. Though she may not be allowed without a male escort by her side on missions, Jada has proven many a time that she can handle herself better than the other members of the Order.
Fifel Adelheim, Paladin of Arlom: Fifel, twin brother to Jada Adelheim (above), followed in his father’s footsteps to join the Order of Arlom. It was easy for him to join, seeing how his father was an esteemed member and an even greater nobleman in Odroth Windhammer’s court. Alas, the young lad seems to not care much for the rules the Order has set out for its’ members, unlike his sister. He is quite reckless, albeit strong, and Jada often has to clean up after his mess. Nonetheless, the twins make a marvelous team, and the Order is lucky to have the Adelheim twins.
Baker: Alternate form.

Just some crap I did when I was bored. Some of them are online prompts that I very much went with the imagination on.
As for the duck one...I don’t actually speak French, so I don’t really know what the heck is going on there.

I did a mini summer series called “The Rainbow Project” to test some of the brushes in Autodesk Sketchbook as well as improve some skill, and I think it came out pretty well. I did one for each color of the rainbow and did a different thing each time, subtly getting out of my comfort zone. To see the progress, the order I painted/drew them in were: orange, green, blue, red, yellow, purple. The one at the bottom was a little practice I did that grew on me.
They each have their own titles based on a song that either stuck with me through the creation of the painting, or the song that was playing upon completion. Here’s the list if you’re interested:
Red: Fire and the Flood - Vance Joy
Orange: Love Like This - Kodaline
Yellow: River - Bishop Briggs
Green: Let Me Love The Lonely - James Arthur
Blue: Big Black Car - Gregory Alan Isakov
Indigo/Violet: - Don’t You Cry For Me - Cobi
(^^^Also listened to a lot of Cringe by Matt Maeson)
I really had fun with this. Also, I’m a person that loves seeing progress I’ve made. If you’re also like that, I highly recommend doing something like this for yourself. It pays off in the end to take an hour or two to really go for something like this. I may keep doing this when I need something to do in the future.
