          idk if anyone even wants to see this but just an.. idk update? abt the state of this blog? im either going to start afresh with qrow with a completely new blog, url, theme, promo, slightly new take on his backstory to make it more.. idk my own?? or just empty out this blog n start over that way? idk i just need a fresh start i think? also stricter rules around this blog and my interaction with duplicates n stuff bc that’s, about 50% of my issue with qrow as a muse? idk ill get back to yall but i definitely don’t want to just abandon him i love him too much and despite a lot of things recently i still love rwby its just. harder somehow atm

          ok, that makes the faunus frown. not an angry sort of look, more sad, blond head cocked to the side, strong arms crossing over an almost barren chest. his crest, the symbol of his ancestors, jostles a little around his neck.

         “…just cause you got a crappy start doesn’t mean anything,” like his namesake, the simian always, always tries to find the good. the bright. the happy. he’ll be damned if he lets the crow damn himself from the start, “and it’s…it’s not the same. sorry man, but there’s no half-way. you either know, or you don’t.”

          his initial response is nothing short of a scowl. he knows more, understands more than this kid seems to think he does. not that qrow blames him. he’s too tired to feel anything but disappointment - disappointment in himself. he said too much and now he’s here digging a hole six fucking feet deep.

          "growin’ up in isolation, bein’ pushed to the side, hated - despised for somethin’ y’ve got no control over? somethin’ y’ were born with?” a quirked brow, shuffling on the spot, running a hand through greying strands - heavy sigh pulling from chapped lips as he calms the rising tide of self hatred, repressed memories and countless--- fuck. “yeah. think i know what y’ mean. jus’ that ain’t ‘cus’ve some ears or a tail. the bird shit jus’... it’s jus’ the cherry on th’ top, right?”

         sun looks as if he’s contemplating the man’s answer for a moment, before he’s shaking his head, “no offense, my dude, but i don’t think you are. if you aren’t born with it.” that sounds kind of elitist and he realizes it as soon as it comes out of his mouth, so the simian continues.

         “like, i mean, you can hide it pretty well. to the point even your own nieces didn’t know about it. me?” golden tail curls and flexes behind him as if to prove a point, “i can’t. not like i’d want to, faunus and proud, but…makes for a different life, y’know?”

          honestly, he never thought of it in that way. it’s not something qrow really enjoyed thinking about at the end of the day. tended to be the last thing on his mind - shunted to the back of the queue as soon as he could manage. still, he offers a vacant shrug towards the younger of the two. “ain’t somethin’ that ever really bothered me ta be honest, kid.”

          qrow never grew up with the the anti-faunus rhetoric that he knows a good deal of people did. instead he grew up with isolation, cold glares, distant mutterings about his curse. he knows more than the kid probably thinks he does. but that’s fine. he doesn’t need to know that-- “human or faunus - wouldn’t’ve mattered ta me either way. still got the shitty start ta life down. guess ‘m half way there, huh.” voice is stiff, he’s said too much. don’t pick him up on it kid.

          fixes the kid with a less than gentle look, brows furrowed and ready to interrupt whatever dumb stupid question he might have -- and then he doesn’t. that’s.... actually a kinda decent question. 

           a question that the branwen doesn’t have an answer to. at least, he doesn’t think he does. harsh expression shifts to minute surprise, brows arching gently. “uh.” wow, real eloquent qrow. those years as a teacher did you well. “i... dunno kid. i weren’t born with this thing, so i guess i ain’t? though it does kinda... affect shit in my actual body too...”

          he’s been giving the guy a lot of crap about the bird thing, but he’s curious you can’t really blame him. however, sun thinks his next question is actually pretty important, at least for his own understanding. 

           “so…does that make you faunus? like me.” a pause, “cause i can’t turn full-on furry monkey, though that would be kinda cool.”

You can just see Qrow attempting to process that despite how close he feels to Ozpin, he doesn’t know everything about him. Ozpin is still keeping secrets from him too.
