Oh Pupsters! Our Canadian bullies and pitbulls need our help! Montreal is voting tomorrow eve to place horrendous restrictions on all pitbull type dogs and restrict any from coming in. This has just gotsta stop! #ENDBSL!!!!!! <3 FuriousMilk • A new Breed Specific by-law in Montreal, Canada is preparing to pass against “pit bull” and hybrid breeds, adding annual fees to owning cats, and eliminating domestic fish ownership. By definition of the law, pit bulls are: American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, any dog with one of those breeds in it, or any dog that looks like one of those breeds. Hybrid breeds has not yet been defined by the Executive Committee. Existing pit bull type dogs will need to have a special (more expensive) license, be vaccinated against rabies, be sterilized, be microchipped, wear a muzzle, must be kept on a 1m (3ft) leash outside of private property, be behind a 3m (6ft) fence on private property, must always wear a special tag identifying them as a “pit bull”, and be owned and walked by someone over 18 years of age with no criminal record. "Pit bull" and hybrid breed owners will need a special license to grandfather their dog in, which will only available up to December 31, 2016. No new “pit bulls” or hybrids after that date will be allowed in the city. This will include visiting dogs. Violation of any of the above will result in the immediate destruction of the dog. Permission granted by the mayor, Dennis Coderre, gave the Executive Committee grant to add other breeds as they see fit.
