I’m fighting so hard to stay afloat Grasping at - reaching for - the sun As it sets, far from me My tears are washed away As my heart sobs, empty, calling for me But I don’t know where I am I don’t know how to be found

Holding Your Hand
Let bygones be bygones Watch the dust travel with the wind So that you can see the ground - Clearly Let the droplets fall with gravity Don't hold on to the bitterness I'll just be here Holding your hand Humming by your side And swaying to the music of the planet I know you'll join me soon When you're whole again I know you'll dance with me Dance the night away But there's no hurry If not today, then tomorrow If not then, the day after Otherwise, eventually, you'll find peace again But I'll be here by your side, swaying, humming, and holding your hand - Jan 9/17

I forgive you for all the pain you caused us And maybe there are things i shouldn't have said For those i can repent But if my brothers and sisters Fighting for a right to be treated fairly Have offended you, For that, i seek no mercy.

I smile because I know I can. It’s not fake or plastered for anyone’s entertainment. It’s real because I fought a battle that shook my world and tried to tie me down. I made it. I fought that battle and that was the achievement for me to smile.

Finding your True Passion in Life
1. What puts a smile on your face? Is there a particular event, a particular topic that makes your whole face just lighten up? Whatever it is that makes you smile, and makes you happy whenever you encounter it, this is a sign of something you are passionate about.
2. What do you find easy? Usually, what we find easy for us to do, will be related to what we are passionate about. It’s very hard to hate something that is very easy for us!
. What sparks your creativity? Think about something in your life where you seem to always expand its horizon, always coming up with new, fun, and exciting ideas relating to that subject. Whatever makes you creative is probably something that you are very passionate about.
4. What would you do for free?. Doing what you have a passion for brings out your best, and this leads to greatness. Greatness breezes to success. So think about something that you would just love to do, even if you were not getting paid. Think about something that you look forward to doing, something that you wish you could do all the time.
5. What do you like to talk about? The topics of conversation we have can definitely tell what we are interested in, and this is a good way to find out what we really enjoy in life.
6. What makes you unafraid of failure? When we do what we are passionate about, we have total confidence in our abilities. This makes us not worry about failing, because in our mind, how can we fail when we do what we love?
7. What would you regret not having tried? If you were at the end of your life, what would you regret not having pursued? What would you have liked to do, that you didn’t get a chance to? Think about what that might be. Whatever it is that you may experience regret now or later on for not having tried, this is a good chance to be your true passion.

Tips for Getting What you Want out of Life
1. You need to begin by thinking about what you want your life to look like. It’s important to be concrete and specific here – not general and vague. Then, use that information to set clear goals for yourself.
2. Be confident and believe in yourself. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t have what other people have, or should be that individual you’d really like to be. If you’re willing to work hard, and to pay the price required, then you can have what you want and find the niche for you.
3. Keep your focus on your goal – don’t get sidetracked from your dream. You’ll have to keep on going and to push through trying times. Remember, the prize is worth the effort; you’ll be glad you persevered.
4. Don’t give into temptation to go for lesser goals, or to do something attractive that won’t lead anywhere. Don’t pretend that you’ll be happy if you give up on your dream. You’ll wish that you’d be stronger and looked at the “long-term”.
5. If you slip up – just get over it – and move on with your plan. It doesn’t mean it’s over. Get back on track again. The goal is too important to waste time on regrets. Your focus is the future, and what will take you there.
6. Recognise your weaknesses – and then plan to manage them. That way, you won’t be taken by surprise, and you’ll have some strategies.
7. Finish what you start, and don’t leave loose ends untied. You have to be committed, and thorough, to achieve. Being lazy or half-hearted will hamper your success.

When working on your goals ...
1. Stop fantasising: Those with too rosy a picture of the future tend to put less effort into reaching their goals. Instead, it’s better to be open to some things going wrong. It will help you see the obstacles - and think through beating them.
2. Visualise process NOT outcome: If you can think through all the steps you will forge a better plan … and it will also help reduce anxiety.
4. Beware of the “what-the-hell effect”: Too many just give up when they stumble or fall down. For example, think of all the dieters who binge at the first hurdle. It’s better to get up – and see a trip as very
5. Attack procrastination: It’s easy to procrastinate when getting going’s tough. Make a start, keep your head down, and set yourself some deadlines. Once you start you’ll feel much better and the road won’t seem so hard.
6. Switch out of robot mode: A lot of behaviour is robotic and habitual. We copy other people or we do “the same old, same old”. Take stock … and change those patterns … if they don’t lead to your goals.
7. Know when enough is enough: Sometimes we also need to know when there’s no point going on. We’re flogging a dead horse and thing are never going to change. It’s time to alter your direction or to work on something else.

I keep questioning him, taunting, Making him re-affirm every day That it was the right decision to stay Perhaps I'm haunted I think I've done you dirty You only saw the pretty side of my soul When we walked into this arrangement I told you I don't cry I don't get sad I stay motivated But then you wouldn't see me for weeks And I would say  was busy School was taking up all my time We are married now, And I've graduated But I still need breaks I need long weekends And 4-month summers To cry To be sad To do nothing and pay for it alone But this house feels too small. I always wanted a smaller bed To make for more bedroom space But not here Here, you are too close. If my salty tears wet the pillow, I fear you might taste it I can't reach out unclean fingers Looking for God's embrace Because you're right here And I want your body to give me the warmth I seek But I find my fingers abducting behind you Reaching, aimlessly, I need my Jesus  embrace And I need Him to tell me, right in my heart That everything will be okay Because God knows I'll never believe it Rolling off your tongue No matter how many times you whisper it to me But I'll give you this And beg you to hold on to it While I push you away, challenging you to return ...it's only temporary And I do know that everything will be okay Just give me today Not to say a word Give me tomorrow to be annoyed Give me the day after to be sensitive Let me love you on the fourth day On the fifth, allow your lips to part Even though I'll be drunk - in pain And on the sixth day, I'll probably smile and cook you a good meal Eat it heartily; it's my apology Don't ask me if it's over And never ask where it came from Because I know I'm lucky And I have plenty to be grateful for So remind me of those things Tell me of how handsome you are and how lucky I am to have you It might make me laugh When our kids get home from school Speak of how well they're growing, How smart they are, And compliment their sense of humour On the seventh day - Though my seventh may be different from yours - Everything WILL be okay.

Of the ones I love
I know his little ticks
I hear how he bites around a cuss
When he’s hurt and defensive
I say ‘yes’ so many times
He thinks I’m kidding when I say ‘no’
So I laugh... and it’s a yes anyway
She doesn’t hear me cry – not anymore
She doesn’t see my pain – just assumes it’s anger
I know how to pull her pieces together
But she never sees me shatter

Want
1. I want you to love the way I laugh. I want it to seep into your skin and warm your bones. I want you to draw it out of me whenever you can.
2. I want you to fall in love with my big, brown eyes. I want you to realize that it’s my biggest insecurity, and I want you to love it even more because of that. I want you to get so lost in them it takes you hours to get back. I want you to gaze into them over dinner, coffee, or even in bed. I want you to see my every emotion through them.
3. I want you to notice the small dimple I have on my left cheek. I want you to notice how it comes out the most when I’m around you. I want you to trace your thumb over it when I’m smiling in my sleep. 4. I want you to admire how sexy I am in that little black dress, and then admire how sexy I am in your oversized t-shirt. I want you to show me off to the world, and then take me home and remind me that I’m only yours. I want you to watch me dancing from across the room at a party and think how lucky you are to have me in your life. I want you to tell me when we cuddle that night.
5. I want you to love my four eyes. I want you to tell me that I look gorgeous with glasses on and then proceed to kiss around them when I don’t believe you. I want you to beg me to wear them more often when I get self-conscious. I want you take them off for me when I accidentally fall asleep while I’m wrapped up in your arms.
6. I want you to accept my hard days. I want you to notice when I’m feeling down, and do everything in your power to bring me back up. I want you to encourage me to stand back up, but also sit with me when I’m down. I want you to make me giggle about the silliest thing just so I smile at least once a day. I want you to understand that it is never ever your fault. I want you to have the words when I don’t. I want you to be able to just sit there and not use words at all. I want you to be my rock.
7. I want you to love animals. I want you to ask about my first dog, and my hardest dog to lose. I want you to want to adopt a dog together. I want you to spend nights in with the two of us, while we all cuddle. I want you to have a soft place in your heart for him that will never be filled when he’s gone.
8. I want to talk about the future with you. I want to talk about our wedding, kids, and growing old together. I want to see my future with you. I want to talk about traveling the world and experiencing life together. I want you to have as much passion for it as I do. I want you to want to spend the rest of your life with me. I want you to cherish all the moments we have together now realizing we may not get that future together.
9. I want you to love my family. I want you to understand that they’re not perfect, and sometimes it bugs me that they aren’t. I want you to bare with me as my brother struggles with normal conversation at the dinner table and neither of my parents will be there at the same time. I want you to try and fit in seamlessly, although you probably won’t. I want you to accept the flaws and realize that this very may well happen to our little family. I want you to realize I don’t want that. I want you to realize that how you treat your family is just as important as how you treat mine.
10. I want you to love me so unconditionally that I will never doubt for a second how much you love me. I want you to love every piece of me, flaws and all. I want you to realize how lucky you are to have me in your life, and I want you to realize that you are my life, and I am yours. I want you to realize how much I love and adore you and that will never change. I want you.
- Excerpt from a book I’ll never write // #127 // what I want in my soulmate
