When Whumpee thinks Caretaker has every reason to hate them. Maybe they were rude to them in the past, or they hurt them without any remorse.

Whatever the reason, Whumpee thinks Caretaker hates them. They hate themselves, so why wouldn't Caretaker do the same?

The problem is Whumpee escapes, and they know Whumper is looking for them. They can't go home, they can't even go to any of their family or friends' homes because they don't want to drag them to this.

The only person left is Caretaker. And it doesn't matter if they hate Whumpee, or if they hurt them, anything is better than Whumper.

Whumpee is ready to beg on their knees to be allowed inside, to be spared just a crumb to eat, to have just a place to spend the night. And their surprise when Caretaker does not just allow them inside, but also treat their wounds.

That shouldn't be right, why does Caretaker not hate them? Why are they so... Kind?

Whumpee doesn't deserve it, but they can at least pretend for a moment. Pretend to have a safe place for once.
